Service is very good especially when it comes to self check (which I use only when necessary, if I have to pack then I want a discount - I work all day, I don't need or want another job). The store is always clean. Deli counter could use a little help, waits can be a little extended. The "3" rating is focused on the prices - this location is way overpriced especially for this community. Eddie Basha would be less than pleased with this location - but that doesn't matter anymore because the family business was brought by people and investors that just don't care.

I was looking for kombucha (you'll see me mention this a lot in reviews, sorry, but it's my substitute until I get used to not drinking soda or alcohol), and I did go on a bit of a circuit before finding the location. There was none on the shelf, but an associate checked in the back and found some for me before stocking the shelf. The store is dingy in the way stores are when they're old, but it's clean. The shelves are appropriately faced and full, and the aisles are spacious. Good ambiance--lots of families shopping, and a pleasant overall community vibe. Pricey, but like other grocery chains where you're better shopping deals and having membership cards. Could use a wider selection of kombucha though. :(

If you want to find a hidden gem for some awesome Mexican food while in Maricopa AZ, you have to…read morecheck this place out. It is a traditional Mexican bodega and meat market better known as a carniceria. Everyone there is so friendly and they have all of your hard to find Mexican brand goods. The best thing is that they have a full kitchen that serves everything from tacos, burritos, nachos and even menudo on certain days. Fresh hand made tortillas that you can purchase and take home to cook when needed as well. My go to there is the mixta burrito which is a mix of pastor (pork) and carne asada. The burrito is huge and also has beans and rice inside combined with cilantro and onions. Their fresh homemade salsas are to die for! Grab an ice cold refresco from the fridge to wash it down (soda pop for all the gringos).

But that's okay because I wouldn't want us to even think about eating more of it than we did. These people clearly don't know the meaning of the word "crisp." And I don't know how you cook meat to kill it that completely. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss $30 bucks goodbye. Just wrote this in hopes that someone else will read it and be spared that experience.

I didn't interact with any employees since this location seems to offer more self-checkout options, but the shopping experience was quick and efficient. This store appears to serve many of the local seniors in the area, so I was a little surprised there weren't more traditional checkout lanes available. Still, everyone seemed to be getting through smoothly. Overall, I enjoy shopping at this Safeway because it's easy to get in, grab what I need, and get back on my way. The good sales and convenient experience keep me coming back.

The staff here treat people of color and queer customers differently -- plain and simple. If you're either and don't read the rest of this review -- to sum it up, give your business elsewhere. Most of the employees are rude, short, or act like customers are inconveniencing them. There are a couple decent people who actually seem to care -- Hannah is the only name I remember right now. She's always friendly, smiling, and professional, and among the handful of staff who actually make the store tolerable at times. She's the one bright spot in this entire store and a role model for how the rest of the staff (especially Linda) should behave. Linda has been the source of multiple problems, but what happened today was beyond unacceptable. My boyfriend and I went in to grab a bottle of wine -- both showed our IDs (as we've done countless times before, even with Linda), and we paid with our joint card. After the transaction went through and the receipt printed, Linda suddenly tried to snatch the wine away and started yelling at us in front of other customers because he had tapped to pay instead of me. The card is joint, both our names are on it, and we both showed valid IDs -- there was absolutely no issue except the one she decided to make up on the spot. She made a total scene, trying to stop us from leaving like we'd done something wrong. It was humiliating, and everyone around was staring. I've never experienced anything so unnecessary and blatantly discriminatory in a grocery store. If Linda wants to take her job so seriously, maybe she should move to produce and deal with the moldy fruit and rotten vegetables that sit on the shelves here instead of harassing paying customers. It's gross. I've seen moldy strawberries, carrots, and brown lettuce more than once, and judging by other reviews, I'm not the only one. This store is a joke -- rude employees, disgusting produce, and management that clearly doesn't care about basic professionalism. Safeway corporate should be embarrassed to have their name on this location. If you want a normal shopping experience where you're treated like a human being, go to Aldi down the street instead. The staff there are friendly, the food is fresh, and they don't make a public spectacle out of customers who've done nothing wrong.
