Went here around 8:30 PM and it wasn't too crowded. Ordered a Farmer Burger combo for myself and a stack of pancakes w/chocolate milk for the girlfriend. Took awhile to get the food, and the chocolate milk was a no-show, even after I told a waitress it was missing. Went to the counter and eventually got someone to get to work on it. And after all that effort it wasn't any good. Food (chocolate milk aside) was good, but the meal is kind of a wash when you have to work to get the drink you ordered. Disgusting. There was cockroaches in the dinning area at the herndon location. When I showed a employee she said "oh that's just a rolli polli" and wiped it up with her towel very quickly & walked away. Believe me I know the difference between a cockroach & a rolli polli! Second time eating here and it was better than I expected. We waited a long time for our food which sucked. When it finally was served to us I wasn't impressed with the amount of food I got. Burger was pretty big, but they weren't too generous on the fries helping. My burger had lettuce, tomato, cheese(cheddar), "special sauce" which is always sketch, and onions. It tasted really fresh, and the bun didn't have that soggy taste to it. Fries were so-so but nothing to go crazy about. Our table was very clean, and I would say the setting is family (a lot of overweight people seem to come here) workers were nice, didn't strike up much conversation. They seemed to be always busy. The prices are a little high, about 8$ for the Big Cheese combo which only comes with one patty. Special burgers are a little more. This is fast food but waaaaay better. I'm not a huge fast food fan. I like the occasional Mckey Dees or Taco Bell but not often. Farmer Boys gives you fresh, great tasting food fast, for about the same price that you'd pay at one of those other places. While it comes out quickly, this is by no means fast food. The portions are huge, the food is hot and fresh, and you have people coming around checking on you refilling your drink, etc. The coupons you find in the little freebie magazines make eating here extremely cheap, even though their prices are already really good. We have ate here often, and we love it. It's kid friendly, and the ladies that work here are always helping us get the kids situated with extra napkins, kid cups, extra plates, etc.! Fast food prices but restaurant quality! For what it is the food is excellent. Sure it takes a little longer than fast food (not much though) however the quality is much much better. I just had the BBQ Chicken Ranch Salad and it was probably one of the best "quick" salads that I've ever had. It was huge with fresh ingredients and every bite was loaded with lots of delicious chicken. They also do a great breakfast, awesome burgers and wraps as well. Great food and great service. The place has been remodeled and looks great. Very lit up and vibrant. Salads are so good. We have had their burgers, sandwiches and all have been wonderful. My husband loves the fried zucchini. He also loves their shakes. Reminds us of the shakes from a soda shop. We have never been disappointed. One of our favorite family restaurants. I spent the last 3 years living/working in Bakersfield and ate at the two Farmer Boys locations several times (one location was very close to work). As another reviewer noted, food is similar to Denny's, except you order off the menu board, pay at the register and they deliver your food to your table. Burgers and sandwiches are fairly tasty, using mostly natural ingredients. But pricing is a little high for what you get - average a bit more than 10 bucks per person. Salads are uneventful - I prefer Panera. Zucchini sticks and onion rings are cut too large, resulting in a log of wet vegetable and soggy breading. I like the french fries, though. They really need more healthy breakfast menu items. The Denver and California omelettes (with fresh fruit) are the closest you'll get to healthy. No country potatoes. Decent portions for the price and most of the breakfast items are pretty tasty. The service at the drive-thru is fairly fast, given that each meal is prepared to order. This location appears much better managed than the Bakersfield locations, where I've regularly waiting 3 times longer for my meal. I give this location 4 stars based on 4 visits over that past 2 months. read more

I'm not sure what they are attempting to do with the onion rings, but they are not good. HORRIBLE. I had a cheeseburger, it was just ok, just not great. They need healthier options too. The food is way better than the service, but overall its a descent place to get fast food in a Carla Jr or Hardy's restaurant style. This particular location seems a bit mismanaged as I've ordered food directly from the general manager and had it come out wrong, and then it was a hassle to get it corrected.
