In 2006 we ordered our wedding cakes (two half sheet cakes) from this store. In June of 2026, we went back to order a two-layers round cake as our daughter's cutting cake at their wedding. Both times, we let them feel free to do their own design, and they turned out very beautifully. The two cake ladies were very nice, and we want to say thank you so much for giving us such special and unique memories. read more

Store is GOOD, staff is amazing.... Thank you Thomas for the GREAT FRESH WINGS, shout out to Jeremey for always working so hard, and for Wonderful customer service, also the beautiful young lady with long curly hair....always running around, multitasking ( I am sorry I don't know your name) thank you for your amazing customer service and spirit. A shout out to Ms. Lisa, always working hard at her job. Anyone who works in the Deli, does catering orders ( fries chicken and cooks all the foods) deserves an extra round of applause. I appreciate each and everyone of you. And the new coffee bar and ambience is a wonderful touch, read more

This is not the same Farm fresh grocery store chain that I grew up with!! I stopped by this location to use the restroom and pick up drinks for a gathering. The restroom had legit padlocks on the door with no signage explaining what to do to use the restroom. Finally we gave in an asked an employee. The employee acted offended that we disrupted her to get access to the restroom. The locked restroom was DISGUSTING!! There were noticeable piles of dust and dirt as well as overflowing toilets it was gross. The food quality here is poor. Lots of brown and grey meat. The flooring in the store was cracked, dirty and very unstable. This grocery store is really nasty and I do not recommend it. read more

The cashier in lane 3 watched me unload my entire cart, then just walked away without saying anything. She didn't come back. The next cashier over took pity on my hungry, thirsty, uncaffeinated soul and helped me move my items to her lane so I could purchase items. 0/10 Do not recommended. read more

Just as a disclaimer, I'm usually in and out of this grocery store because I go for the odd bits that run out in between proper grocery store buying. But overall a nice and clean store. Most of the standard items are overpriced which is why I go so infrequently. I like the sushi and deli station as well. read more

After returning home, I discovered something which I didn't order or want had been charged to my account. I was told that the only way I could get a refund was to come back to the store. My car is in the shop, so I would have to Iber both ways which is more than the $8.99 charge. read more

Do not ever go here. As soon as I stepped in, I could smell the spoiling produce and rotting meat. The aisles are all too close together and overcrowded. The employees are rude and don't really seem like they know what they're doing in the first place. The card reader was having issues when I was trying to pay, and the cashier replied in a sing-songy voice "looks like you'll have to find a new payment methoddd~". When I told her I hadn't even put my card in, she unresponsively reset the transaction and I paid and left without another word. When I got home, I realized multiple products I purchased were actually expired. read more

New ownership complete new management. This store has done a complete turnaround. It's absolutely amazing. The new manager Tay is doing wonders with this store THOMAS in the deli, the manager, Miss Lisa, the assistant manager, Jeremy Bakery, manager and assistant manager, JaNaye and everyone else that works there is working hard every day to put this store back to pristine Shopping experiences. This Store goes above and beyond for their customers new ownership and management really make a difference so if this store has given you a bad taste in the past, please give it a second chance you will not be disappointed. Everything is fresh. If you ask for something they will go above and beyond to accommodate You're every need. I cannot praise the management and all of the team that work there. They're working so hard around the clock striving to make this store number one. The vibe and ambience is just absolutely amazing. Thank you to each and every one of you for all your hard work this is my number one go to store. I've yet to be disappointed each and every time I shop here and PS.... miss Lisa my chipotle wings were beyond delicious. I'm actually eating them as I'm doing my review. The worst grocery to ever exist literally. The smell of rotting meat hits you the minute you walk in. The fruits and veggies almost always either have mold on them or they're beat up. Not to mention the PRICES are crazy high. Much higher than publix which is wild to me. I wandered for about 30 mind trying to get help and it seemed like the employees were avoiding me at all costs. Avoid this place and drive 8 mins to literally any other grocery read more

Some advice if you must shop here or even just enter the store. Check the expiration dates of everything before putting it in your cart. At least 20 % of anything you touch will be expired, including the gray colored ham that's 2 months past its expiration date. Don't expect the rewards system to work. At least 2/3 of the machines are out of service and never fixed. Most of the time you will not get the discounts or "Saturday Steal" items that you added to you account when you type your account number. Bring an extra credit card and/or additional cash because everything costs more that other grocery stores. Try not to take personally the actions and reactions of the workers. At 80 % of them seem annoyed that you are there, have no interest in helping you, and offer sarcastic if not nasty remarks to customers; that's if they even acknowledge your presence. I have discovered this all the way up to the Assistant Store Manager. I don't want to know what the Store Manager or owners are like. You're better off getting what you need at CVS across the parking lot. read more

This is my neighborhood grocery store. I'm usually here multiple times a week. The meats and produce are very fresh for the most part. Hence the name lol. I do often get the their rotisserie chicken to last a couple of days. About once a month I purchase crabs as well and they are always seasoned very well and the price per pound is reasonable. There is always a very big selection of wine and the beer cooler is nice as well. It's great to run in and purchase perfectly chilled beer. The employees are all pleasant. I have never had an issue with any employee being rude or unpleasant. read more

This Farm Fresh location was acquired by a new grocery store chain in June; they decided to keep the name for now. It's only been a couple months since the change in ownership, so I assume they're still working out kinks. I like the location as it's the closest to my current apartment and easy to access with a designated parking lot. But there are some items I wouldn't buy here moving forward, primarily produce. I bought blueberries that molded within a couple days. White grapes I bought tasted awful and were tossed immediately. Lettuce also browned rather quickly. I don't know if it's an issue with their storage and refrigeration or if they had just been sitting out for a while, but either way I'd be hesitant to toss more money down the trash chute. The deli counter is also a little odd. You can't order deli meat from the person standing in front of the fried chicken...even if the other person is busy cleaning and thus causes an awkward wait. The aisles are fairly narrow but otherwise the store has plenty of groceries. It's not the best place for personal care products though. My last visit did make me uncomfortable enough to not return for a while. I was placing groceries in my trunk when a man walked directly up to me to ask for money. For a split second I thought he was going to carjack me. Even worse, they don't have cart drops in the parking lot (I assume because the lot is fairly small) so I had to bring the cart back up to the store while the man was still loitering. I know the store itself can't control such issues, but it was scary nonetheless. I'll probably go a little out of the way to visit a Kroger, but if I'm in the direct area, I'm not opposed to a return trip here. read more

I visit Fresh Farms 02/08/2025 to purchase crab legs and shrimp. I had to ask for the cabs to be washed off before steaming, okay maybe the worker was not trained. After getting my item, I proceeded to the cashier (oops, self check was all that was available. I hate self checkout!). I had to scan and pay, as am scanning, I got an error to move the items from the bagging area, after myself and grand son attempted to correct the problem to no avail, I turned to the worker in the area and asked for assistance, crickets....she took a card and swiped it from where she was, did not part her lips to say a word to me. Normally there is some communication, such as; "let me fix that for you" or "try it again, it should be fix now" nothing crickets. As I think back, I don't recall a pleasant experience at this store. Ambiance, whenever enter I want to leave in a hurry, it's dark and uninviting, it's lacking pleasant workers. Customer service is lacking in Farm Fresh, I don't go to this store often and I will plan better, go else where and purchase my crab legs and steam them myself. I hope this helps someone. read more

Over my five years as a resident in this area we have witnessed the distressing downfall of this market. The new ownership added to the mess right off the bat with the closure of certain areas of the previous ownership. The deli closes whenever it feels like it and most of the deli staff acts like teenagers working in a McDonald's. When I asked an employee to slice meats at the deli she informed me that the deli was closed. When i asked why their wasn't a sign she said "they always steal it". (Not sure who the 'they' might be referring to. Prices continually go up from week to week and there are rarely enough cash register associates even when the supposed self checkout isn't working. This place is a nightmare. Stay away if you can. read more

This is my regular go-to store, simply because it's blocks from my house. It's a Farm Fresh outlet and fairly small, but really convenient. Because the prices are a bit high here, I'll pick up just a few things that I really need and save my big weekly shop for Ukrops (I can't get used to calling them Martin's) or Kroger. Like most Farm Fresh stores, though, they have good prices on beer and wine, generally better than the other chains. Maybe they think if you take a couple of drinks before shopping, you won't notice that everything else is higher in price than at another grocery store. read more

This is my local grocery store and I love the convenience. Sometimes I wish there was a little more variety, but it really covers the bases. Today I just wanna give a shout out to Isaac for helping me get lunch meats. I appreciate his attention to detail and cleanliness. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. read more

This Farm Fresh seems to get a bad rap, but I really don't mind it. It's the closest grocer to my dwelling and I go frequently if in a pinch (though the C-town Kroger is my main grocer). It doesn't have the best selection or prices, but it fits the bill and never feels cramped. I generally find staff to be friendly and I've always been able to find a parking space. Nothing really negative for me to say about the place. read more

Overpriced and some rude staff. The deli staff will make you wait while they finish their personal conversations and then with an eye roll ask you what you need. Not all but a few and this deli scenario has been consistent since I moved in across the street in June. Last week I had to explain to a new deli associate what an 8 piece mixed fried chicken was (2 pieces of each) and I was still missing a breast when I got home. Shakira at the customer service desk is also rude. She completed my purchase and after getting home I realized I was missing an item. I went back and she argued with me, said she put it in the bag and Lo and behold the item was sitting right behind her register NOT IN THE GROCERY BAG. Not even an apology. The sourness (as another reviewer described) and lack of customer attentiveness of some the staff is my biggest issue. I don't mind paying higher prices for convenience but I'm not going to overpay for groceries + their employees bad attitudes and lack of attentiveness and training. Joy at the customer service desk is always a Joy. Friendly, quick, knowledgable. There is also a newish Latino guy at the customer service desk who's name escapes me, but he's great too. Get it together. Train your associates. If they hate their jobs and can't be pleasant and attentive, then move them along and hire and TRAIN people who will. A brand new, shiny, grocery store is being built right up 25th as we speak. read more

Best salads in town, coleslaw, macaroni, veggies are good and fresh, the fruits are delicious.

I like this place! Went here for the first time and they had a good amount of vegan options, and a decent selection of produce. I wish they would have had more herb / green options but other than that, this is a nice store. Some things cost a little more than at say, Food Lion or something, but overall this is a nice and convenient place to shop. read more

Produce is consistently not fresh. Grocery options are very limuted. Identical products to other grocery stores (exact same brand and products) cost more at FarmFresh. Can not find a proper steak or cut of meat-- their "steaks" are hardly quality enough to use in a stew. read more

I am so disappointed in how this store looks. Every time I come in here it looks dirty, the food don't look fresh and it looks like a homeless takeout spot... and that's no shade against the homeless population but even they deserve to go to a place that's well kept. I literally came in here and a guy was tasting the soup right off the spoon.. how did no one see that but me. Gross... read more

Literally everything from meats to produce are rotten. Always! The beer they sell is even expired most of the time. You can even see where they wipe off the expiration date in the meat section and whatever else they've figured out how to! How is this ok or safe!? While super convenient, this place is not worth what they charge for quality of what you get. So disappointing. I will say staff is always pleasant and they always seem to be working hard, but their staff isn't the problem here. read more

Ever wished for a grocery store that had an abysmal selection? (And I'm not talking about obscure items, I'm talking about simple things like bell peppers - nah, we don't need those!) What about a grocery store where it takes an average of 15 minutes (with no line!!) for the lethargic deli counter attendant to select your turkey, place it in the slicer, and slice said meat? Maybe you're looking for a grocery store that eschews the notion that they should open more than two registers at a time when the customers are perfectly capable of snaking the line through the aisles effectively impeding shoppers while waiting in line to check out. Farm Fresh just may be what you're looking for if you want to pay more for basic, sometimes questionable, items procured through a painful, painful shopping experience. Bonus points if you're looking for shellfish that you're not confident about eating. They have a monopoly and they know it. They have a captive customer base who has few other options unless they want to drive a bit to find a decent grocery store. At Farm Fresh, you're paying for the convenience, definitely not the quality or service. I'm all for the "little guys" but that normally includes better service for the up-charge. read more

Holy hell, what kind of Deli closes at 7:00 on a Friday night?? This kinda Deli that's who!! It all started when my little dude wanted some drumsticks for dinner on the way home. We stopped by, went to the deli section and there was a lady swapping fried chicken from one pan to another. Hey there I said may I have 2 drumsticks and some Mac and cheese please? "We closed" she snapped back. -keep in mind she had a whole tray of chicken and a whole tray of Mac and cheese, WITH THE TONGS IN HER HAND!! After a brief questioning by me on when they close? Why at seven o'clock? And what she was gonna do with all that chicken?!?!? She dismissed me with 1 word answers like I was bothering her. Needless to say I had an angry little boy and a distaste for Farm fresh altogether. I might return for a few small groceries but never again for the fried chicken. My little boy and my composure might not be there for the next time! read more

Farm Fresh is kept in business by everyone who lives Downtown, in Shockoe Slip and Church Hill who doesn't want to drive over to Kroger, Martin's, Trader Joes or Whole Foods. Their selection is weak at best, but if you're looking for the common stuff and you're willing to pay a lot to save time on driving to another store, come on in. Me personally? I come here every now and then for that quick thing I forgot to get or ran out of. read more

Dammit... leave it to Richmond to put a craphouse of a grocery store downtown and three awesome grocery stores within walking distance in Carytown (Ellwood Thompson's, Ukrops, Kroeger). The Market leaves a lot to be desired... and they gouge prices since there is no where else to really go. Canned goods seem to run about 10% higher than Kroeger, and the produce selection is quite weak. Beef and Fish should be passed by... don't bother. The only reason that 2 stars are up there is the fact that they have a huge walk-in beer section boasting "the coldest beer in Richmond". read more

Worst produce selection ever. Overpriced. Incorrect price tags if any. Small variety and options for everything...or there lack of. Only good thing is beer selection. read more

After a much needed update his place finally got it together. It's clean, better organized, and finally offers some fresh food other than fried chicken. Unfortunately the seafood selection still sucks, the produce is rarely ripe, and the prices are still out of comparison to other stores. It still appears that the designers aren't familiar with grocery store design, but it's one of those "you have to go shop there to understand" sort of feelings. At least it's headed in the right direction now though. read more

Worst grocery store. I'm not sure they have management. Nothing marked on sale is ever actually on sale in their system. The entire store is covered in false advertising. Check your receipts people. If this wasn't the only store in walking distance of thousands of people it would be out of business. This place is a joke. read more

A little expensive but so convenient when you live downtown. The produce is always fresh and the wine selection is pretty great. They also have a huge walk in beer fridge which my fiancé loves to frequent. They also have a Starbucks inside which is so hard to avoid when grocery shopping! read more

Not a huge fan of this Farm Fresh. I only really go cause it's so close but the parking lot is usually nuts so if you live close, just walk. There is a Starbucks inside but it's pretty cramped. The whole store feels small and the ladies in the deli are always in a bad mood. read more

Its the closest grocery store to my house. If I had options I would explore them. If you are in dire need of an ingredient to complete your masterpiece then this will do. Just moved to Shockoe Bottom and I'm only a few blocks from this Farm Fresh yet somehow it's more inconvenient to go to than driving to another grocery store would be. Parking lot is tiny. The smell of rotten seafood fills the entire store, and walking past the seafood counter is almost unbearable. Pretty rude customer service, employees being pretty loud and hollering with eachother, just not friendly. One girl in particular sticks out in my mind... More expensive than other grocery stores somehow. The 2 star rating is for the Starbucks and the beer cave. read more

Moving downtown, Farm Fresh is the closest place for your grocery needs. While I love the new look and the organized shelves, the staff are less than friendly than the Farm Fresh grocery stores that use to be scattered around the Richmond area I remember as a child. Compared to other grocery stores I tend to shop at (Kroger, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Martin's, etc.), I found that the prices are a bit higher than expected. I think this will be my main pitstop for grocery items when I do not feel like driving to Kroger on Broad or Whole Foods and Trader Joes in Short Pump- or need to pick up something quick for a meal. Overall, not a bad grocery store compared to some I have shopped in, however, i doubt i will be coming back for my main food purchasing needs. read more
