It all seemed so promising and then it wasn't. Earlier this year we decided to have our front yard landscaped and found Farias Landscape. We contacted them and after several "reminder" emails to respond to our request (first red flag) Daniel, the owner, came over. We explained to him what we were looking to have done (a few plants/trees transplanted, maybe a new tree, nothing big). He explained that his wife Anna was the expert at planning out the design and that she would contact us. Close to three weeks went by and once again we had to send multiple emails to see when and if she would be coming. She arrived one morning, unannounced and proceeded to explain a plan that had nothing to do with what we were asking for...to the tune of over $4,000! We explained that we were minimalists and that lots of flowering plants, hedges and the like were nothing that we would consider. We accepted some of her suggestions and approved the estimate of over $2,000. They were to transplant a pine tree and a rosemary lavender, spray for weeds, add additional rock and plant a Japanese maple. OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! Being in a semi-rural area the choices of services are pretty limited so we didn't really question this estimate or proposed services so we agreed. Once again weeks went by and after sending multiple emails requesting a start date they finally complied and the work began. They finished in about 4 days promising to return to "tap" down the rock and put netting around our new Japanese maple (oh, by the way this cost $800.00!) in an effort to keep the deer from eating it. After about three weeks I once again had to remind them several times to complete the promised tasks.
In March my husband, for our anniversary gave me a soba palm tree. We called them asking if they would plant it for us. They did.
Well, in April we began to notice that our beautiful pine tree was turning brown. We called them, Daniel came over and said it would be fine. As the months progressed we noticed that it as well as the rosemary lavender and soba palm were also all turning brown. In June the Japanese maple looked as though it too would not survive. Well, we are now in August and they are ALL dead and gone.
We called Daniel regarding the maple and he came over and merely stated that "it needed water". Because of their lack of follow-up after planting/transplanting our plants we consulted all plant/tree experts on the care and feeding of all of our plants. We followed all recommendation to the letter. Our plants did NOT die due to lack of care or water. We requested that the maple be removed and explained to Daniel that when he returned to remove the tree that he needed to explain why all of our plants had died. Today the tree was removed and Daniel was no where to be seen. He sent one of his workers.
We are heartbroken and above all angry. Daniel explained that the tree had a one year guarantee and never once did he hold to this promise. My suggestion to anyone wanting landscaping done is to shop around and obtain multiple offers...sure wish we had! read more
