I had a bridal dinner fr my daughter. Had to call n confirm reservation. Many times. N of course whoever answered the phone said they put it in the book. Not. It was on a piece of paper. Ok gt tht straighten out. We were packing up n I called n Uber. No one came in n said we're closing in a 1/2 hour. They said u got to go. Many times. Extremely off put by our experience here today. We had a reservation and were really excited to dine here since we just bought a home locally and I had been there once a while ago and remember the food being good. We were seated right next to the door and the hostess stand. So the hostess stand faced our table, the hostesses could look directly at us. We heard the phone ringing and all the convos. We were also put off because the hostess stand was definitely NOT 6 feet away from us. We politely asked one of the hostesses if we could move tables, she said she would check. We figured this would not be a problem because there was barely anyone in there. The owner came over to look in the reservation book and had a major attitude. He looked at me and rudely said "what are you cold here?" I replied saying it was a noisy spot by the door and hostess stand (I should have mentioned the social distancing issue as well). He pretty much rolled his eyes at me and shrugged like oh well. They then said we could move but would have to be up by a certain time. We were so taken back by the attitude and unprofessionalism of the owner that we got up and left. We were really hoping to find a go to place locally. My fiancé refused to go back. read more

They are not handicap accessible or parking. The back entrance is stairs and then blue stone which is difficult to walk on with a cane. Disappointed in food. Stuffed clams were pureed bread crumbs & no clams. Potato Leek soup was like eating baby food. Pureed white mush, little flavor. Indoor dining, the tables were not 6 ft apart, just 4 tables pushed to each of the 4 walls. The bar area was crowded, definitely not 6 ft part. I actually Love Faradays. Their food is actually really good. I like the wings, and on MONDAYS they offer a 5 dollar burger and 4 dollar pints! How can you not want to go. They charge alittle extra for any extra topping but WOW. FOOD: stuffed mushrooms-- stuffed with clams and in a wine sauce, very tasty wings- I prefer the hot wings, but all the sauces are good. Pub. Very good little pub in the heart of Smithtown, with a cozy bar and serving great food. Having been left to my own devices for dinner, and not in the mood to cook, I did a little Googling and Faraday's seemed like a good call from the online menu. I popped over and hit the cozy bar area which is just the way I like them - on the small side, dark but full of bar "fixins" with a few small TV's to keep you up to date on whatever sport you might watch. The bartender was great- she was right there with a smile and chit chat - got me set up with a drink and menu and I was off and running. The menu was pretty extensive and I initially had a hard time deciding but found a steak special and settled in with my glass of wine while waiting for the food. Definitely worth the wait as the food arrived perfectly cooked, the salad prior was crisp and tasty and the sides that came with the steak were not the same ole, same ole that you get everywhere else; potato croquettes and a very good veggie mix. There is a dining room beyond the bar area that was doing a decent business (as was the bar) and after eating there, I can understand why. Definitely worth hitting if in the area. We have been here twice and sat outside in the back patio very nice and cozy. Our server was nice and polite and efficient on both visits . The drinks were strong and on point with a small selection of wines by the bottle and by glass. We had the potato skins for a appetizer and they were what you would expect. My wife got the salmon entree and loved it (both times) and I got the the bacon cheeseburger and that was very good and cooked to order,I got the French dip last visit (also good). Ambiance and decor is very nice and cozy (Which is the only reason we gave this many stars). My wife and I both got burgers. I'm picky about how it's cooked and if it's not medium rare, I am usually unhappy. I must say, they cooked it to perfection...probably one of the best cooked to temp burgers I have seen in a while however.....both of our burgers were so bland and tasteless. It's a shame, such a perfectly cooked burger ruined by a lack of any flavor or spice. French onion soup was also lacking proper flavoring and was rather watery tasting. Two waitresses were gossiping loudly in the small area designated for staff which was practically on top of the tables since it's a small room to begin with. So this is a cute lil piece in the village of Smithtown w/a good reputation. The bar was poppin' with a large crowd on a Friday night. However, it's awkward going to the restaurant and having to pass a bar. This should be the reverse. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. However, she kept reaching across us to deliver food. This is my pet peeve. Like, say excuse me. The space was so cramped that the waiter kept hitting the back of my head. Uggh. But he said excuse me. The complimentary bread on the table, was everything! Warm & delish. I had a salad that had a nice dressing. Wish the bowl was bigger so the salad wouldn't keep landing on the table. For my entrée I ordered seared shrimp and scallop risotto. Came out lukewarm to the touch. So I gave it a stir to warm it up. Wow. The shrimp was quite chewy-not cute at all. The risotto though, dry as ever. Gordon Ramsey would 'SHUT IT DOWN'! if he saw that. Ya, for $23 they need to remove that from the menu. In summation, Faradays is a nice quaint spot-live in the bar, or for a little quiet meal. But the food, meh, a little mediocre, wanting to be on top. Very disappointed. We researched restaurants in the area of our chosen activity of the evening and Faradays looked extremely enticing with their eclectic menu. I can forgive they didn't seat us right away being that we were both running late, and I will say the staff was very nice, but once we were seated things took a downward turn. The food was bland, as if the chef was afraid of seasoning the food. But the real problem was the service. We waited an incredibly long time between appetizers and entrees, to the point we almost forgot we ordered a second course. Then when the dessert for my daughter's birthday was brought to the table, it was left there with no follow up. No one asked the table if anyone else wanted dessert, no one asked if we wanted coffee, which I actually did! In fact I wanted not only coffee but I wanted some Amaretto with it. But our server ignored us and actually was seen speaking to another table for at least 20 minutes! When she was done with that she walked quickly past our table where we had to actually catch her eye and make that annoying "get the check" sign. And she didn't even bring the check herself. Having been a server myself I allow a lot of leeway when going to a restaurant (especially during COVID) but I've never not asked if a table wanted coffee with dessert and I've never indulged in a 20 minute conversation with another table when other tables were not fully taken care of. So the restaurant lost out on revenue and the server lost out on an excellent tip. And they lost my recommendation. read more

I just love Faradays. Its a cozy rustic little place that has a warm local feel and a pub like dimly lit atmosphere. Now I have never actually had the time to go sit down and eat. I always either have it delivered or I take the drive to pick up myself. I keep meaning to go eat in. Especially when its nippy and cold outside its like a warm hug waking in the door and into the smiley friendly faces inside. It is not huge its small and cozy with one bar area and a dining area. I love the exposed brick walls. As far as food, I am addicted to the chicken with Hennessy cream sauce. I believe it may be the reason I gained 15 pounds in the winter of 2013. It has thin sliced Italian ham, melted mozzarella, onions, mushrooms and spinach in a Hennessy spiked cream sauce over chicken and Orecchiette. The dish is freakin delicious. Their soups are usually always wonderful. My husband likes the steak dishes like the Guinness New York strip. Its not super expensive but its not a bargain either. Expect your entree to be somewhere between $17 to $30 per entree. I think it is worth it for sure. There is parking in the back because in the front is on busy main street and limited. I can not vouch for the in house service yet but they are always very sweet on the phone And pick-up. Unless it's a REALLY BAD review, I like to wait a day or two before posting. That way, the positives really highlight themselves in my mind. The sharp-edged negatives also seem to lose a little of their sting. The food was very good. Their menu is kind of all over the place but there should be something for everyone. Being that it's a pub, I ordered the shepherds pie and was very pleased. Gf ordered some kind of teriyaki steak with pineapple over mashed potatoes and lettuce. She was pleased also. The service was iffy. 4 different servers brought us our food and drinks. None of which were the waitress who took our order. Never got our salads. Got two beers I didn't order while my first glass was still full. Then waited 10 mins for a beer when my glass was empty. The pub customers come through the dining room to the restroom. No prob for me. This one guy thought he was being cute and would stop and flirt with my gf every time he staggered by though. He was a cute little old man so I didn't really have a problem. But, it was annoying because I'm trying to eat my friggin dinner here. They do have outdoor seating which would have eliminated this problem. Next time. Sounds like a 3 star rating to me right? Maybe less, in fact! No....... The soup...... My God, the soup!!!!!!!!! On the special menu they had this "white French onion" soup. They should make this every day, all day. Came here for St. Patrick's day. It was pretty organized and the indoor seating we very socially distant and staff was very much in covid compliance. The St. Patrick's day food was also great. My only gripe was the drinks. I had a Guinness and my spouse had a Stella. Both drinks tasted extremely off, so much so that neither of us were even able to drink them. Sounds like those taps could use a bit of a cleaning, that or the glassware. Regardless though, place is great and I will come back again. read more

Been coming to Faradays for many years now. The owners are awesome and make you feel like family. They are consistent in their food and always go the extra mile. They make me dishes that aren't even on the menu! The bar is a locals favorite and yet attracts newcomers as well. They fed everyone through a rough pandemic and did their best to install outdoor cottages and put protocols in place to keep everyone feeling safe. People think this restaurant game is easy, but that's only because people like Claudia and Tom and the great staff here make it look that way. The food here is excellent and nearly everyone in there was a regular for good reason. I had been wanting to stop by here for a while but never got around to it for some reason. But based on my experience there I believe this is the best dining pub in the area. It was a dead Monday night and were one of 2 tables in the small indoor seating area. They have a special from Monday - Thursday 20.95 for 4 course meal so we did that. The soup of the day was split pea soup and it was the best I have ever had. Often times people make it with the consistency of Gerber baby food but this was of good consistency, had great flavor and was peppery. Fantastic. The appetizers were good but the stuffed mushrooms were in a butter sauce which I am not really a fan of. The entrees we ordered the chipolte crusted port tenderloin and the steak tips. Both excellent. They had about 10 beers on tap but 5 of them were local Long Island beers which is always good. Perhaps it may not be as good if busy but it is clear this is a local favorite with long time patrons coming in as I ate whom were known by name. Someone back there knows how to cook too! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! The service was slow and they don't know the difference between regular cheese and liquid cheese (scary, I know!) My Fiancé made It very clear that she didn't want liquid cheese and of course they did it anyway! Faraday's is definitely a hometown pub. Everyone at the bar was local and very friendly. I was here on business and always look for a local place to go to get a drink and eat good food. This place nailed it. The bartender was personable and offered samples of beers I never had. The locals made me feel welcomed and offered conversation throughout the night. The food was good. Me and my wife went to Faraday's for dinner on a Saturday night. My wife ordered the chicken insalata as an entree. BEWARE, do not order this it's awful! The lettuce was swimming in balsamic dressing with maybe 5 pieces of cubed chicken. I didn't see any fresh mozzarella but the amount of tomatoes were incredible. When ordering, if she had known that this was a cold salad she would have chosen a different entree considering they just gave me a house salad. When confronting the owner and bring it to her attention she offered no apology or replacement for her dinner.
