VERY disappointed in my nails. I came in for a full set dip. I have been here once before and it was okay, but yesterday was absolutely horrible. It was $40 for dip, $10 for long nails, $10 for them to shape them "coffin shape". I asked for matte, they wanted to charge another $5 and I said absolutely not. It's a top coat. My nails are not coffin. They are sharp underneath, there is black dip color on my finger, she chipped a nail and did not fix it. I paid $68 dollars for nails I am getting removed tomorrow. I tried to give them a chance since I can walk from my boyfriends apartment, and they are a family owned business. I even over heard a lady ask how much for a full set and her answer was depends. I've been reluctant to leave this review as it seems there are way too many people who bitch and complain on Yelp :) and everywhere else, and sometimes unwarranted, so I prefer to spread love whenever I can, but I am slightly disenchanted with my experience and feel led to share. I scheduled an appointment for a Full Set Gel, which states $35 on their website. I promptly arrive for my appointment, and they inform me that the woman who does Full Set Gel, is not in, therefore I can't receive the service I made an appointment for, HOWEVER, they can do Full Set Dip. I asked why no one notified me of this, and they didn't have an answer for me. I reluctantly agreed to getting dip even considering how strange it sounded to me - you can do dip but NOT gel polish? Okay... So, we get started and all seems okay, I guessed. I had gems placed onto both ring fingers. I showed her a photo of what I had in mind. The design wasn't close to what I showed her, and the gems are crooked and not exactly symmetrical in certain places, but it still looked super pretty, so I decided to overlook it. Fast forward to the end of my appointment and the cost - The Cost - they charged me $45 for the Dip Full Set. I had planned on gel, but, okay... You would think due to their mistake of not contacting me to inform me of the service change, they would happily honor the price but, nope. I didn't ask, but that to me demonstrates their lack of professionalism. She then proceeds to up charge me $10 to remove my previous acrylics, which I get that a removal fee is standard, but two of the nails had already fallen off anyway. THEN, she charges me an additional $15 for the mediocre gem job (two gems have already fallen off, by the way, and I just got this done yesterday! This has NEVER happened to me anywhere else I have had gem art done). Oh! Then I get an additional charge of $10 to shape my nails! I asked her why that isn't included in the service price. Her response: "Certain shapes cost extra." Ummm, what, why? I didn't ask for some crazy nail shape or anything. So I ended up spending $80 total on 1 service which wasn't worth it AT ALL, so why I left a 20% tip, IDK. And the icing on the cake was when I got into the sunlight and realized some of my nails are crooked and the paint job is shoddy. Look, I am so grateful for the fact that I am able to get my nails done, and the last thing I desire to do is complain, but I don't like being taken advantage of. I would have to rate my overall experience a 3. I made an appointment that afternoon for an evening. I was on time and I didn't get to sit down till 15 minutes past my appointment time. I would of understood if they were busy but that was not the case. Also when I called the man never informed me of the hour free garage parking so I parked about 2 blocks and also paid for a meter. Other than that my nails look wonderful. He did a great job! I am new to the area and have been to other nail salons within the KC area and the man that did my nails was just wonderful. This place was ok. They did a kind of sloppy job on my shellac manicure, and for some reason didn't paint it down until the bottom of my nail bed on a few fingers. We had called about coming as walkins (me and a friend) and they had told us there was no wait. However when we got here there was about a half hour wait. They apologized for it, which was nice. Probably wouldn't come back because of the quality of the manicure. It was close by the time the woman finished the job, so I was ready to head home and didn't ask her to fix it. I just visited this salon today for a gel manicure and spa pedicure. The salon was clean and well organized. The tech who did my manicure, Anna, did a great job. She took her time to carefully apply the polish. The pedicure was okay, a different tech did it. There was not a wide selection of polish colors. Gel polish is kept in the back, but they have sample gel colors in a bowel so you can pick out the gel color. I stopped by here because my usual tech was on vacation. The staff, was nice and offered by wine to drink which waa cool. They gave coupons on their website, so be sure to check those out. I'll continue to come here in the future when I can't get into my regular nail salon. I live in Lee's Summit so it's a bit of a drive for me. read more

Nail Fantasy has been been doing a lot of flyering recently. When I received three in last weeks mailbox junk and noticed they offer a 10% discount for groups of five or more, I decided a work bonding trip was in order. For those keeping track, this was my second pedicure ever. I made an appointment for my work group at 5:15 on a Monday. We lucked into a Groupon offer as well, so we didn't worry about the discount. We were directed to choose our colors as we walked in and then were ushered directly back to the shiatsu chairs. Communication was a little rough as really only the owner speaks English. But we all got our glasses of wine and feet in the water. Unfortunately, there were only three people working, so two of us just sat and soaked for quite a while. While we were being taken care of, three more ladies came in and I know they sat in their chairs for a really, really long time, waiting. Eventually the owner came over and worked on my feet himself. He seemed kind of rough to me and I did not feel as relaxed as the first time. Then one by one we were led to the manicure stations. We all waited for a while there as well, since there were still only 4 people working. By then the clients waiting had multiplied as well and there were half a dozen in chairs in the front just waiting. Ultimately, my toes and nails were pretty and polished. I know several of my colleagues were happier with their experience. I would definitely recommend an appointment, but the rates can't be beat and I think they will work out the kinks once they've been open for a while. I would certainly go back. read more

The guy was rough and didn't have the best customer service skills. I don't think the other workers knew English. I repeatedly told him that what he was doing hurt, and he kept doing it and almost pulled off my real nail(is what it felt like anyways.) I'm not a picky person, and I've had my nails done a million times but I just wasn't impressed with them. They did have a nice atmosphere. It was very clean and uncluttered. So that's a plus. I stopped in because I desperately needed an eyebrow wax and Jessica was able to get me in during my lunch break. I was skeptical because new people that wax my eyebrows have more of a tenancy to remove more than needed than follow my natural eyebrow line. However, Jessica was very friendly and my eyebrows look great. I'll be back for sure. I'd love to check out the nail side of this place too! Perks of this place include: nice atmosphere, doesn't smell like fumes, pleasant staff, glass of wine or bottled water offered. Starting off: everyone here is absolutely fantastic. I tried so many salons in the city trying to find someone consistently great. I get awesome service and great-looking gel nails every time. The techs at Fantasy always offer a generous amount of their time for each appointment-- and it's really nice not to feel like they're trying to get you out of there as quickly as possible. I am not from Kansas City, I'm traveling on business, and needed a pedicure done. I am a baby boomer and like classic nails. Anyhow, when I got back to the hotel the polish had text year, much like old nail polish in my experience. I called and asked if they could redo it and he said come on in. When I came in the next day they said I had selected and nail polish. I've never heard of the product and I would never have intentionally chosen a nail polish with a sandy text year. I googled sand nail polish and found it to be very distinctly textured shiny and sparkly. I still believe the OPI color I selected, a very common one, was flawed. When I suggested that he segregate the sand nail polish from the regular nail polish he told me not to tell him how to run his business and got very curt with me. I waited to write this review to see how long the results lasted and am SUPER impressed! Grooming (skin, cuticles stayed hydrated and fresh...not usual for me) and dip lasted 3 weeks (again, not usual for me) while gel was still going strong at 4 weeks. Granted, I'm not from Kansas City, but this nail salon is not located where you think a nail salon should be. We parked in a sketchy parking garage next door, and then headed in. It's a very large, open space, and unfortunately for them, there were only two people working. We had scheduled an appointment for five people, so we were here for an ungodly amount of time... And I feel like that should take away a star because they were ill prepared, but I wouldn't come in on my day off to my job either lol. They set us in Pedicure Chairs, and of course the water got cold, so now I know how to work the dials on the pedicure tub. However, the chairs are massaging, they offered us wine, and lettuce gossip and Jabber without paying us any attention. I got a shellac pedicure, which I'm super happy with. The scrubs that she used smelled wonderful, and it was a very nice relaxing experience. I had two other girlfriends get dip manicures which turned out beautifully as well. I also broke my wine glass on the tile floor, and they hopped right up to clean it up. Yes they were short-staffed, yes we were there for four times as long as it should have taken... But the end result was nice and we had the place to ourselves. read more

It took me weeks to finally get them done just because I hadn't found any place that looked like they'd do as nice of a job as I wanted, at least not in my price range. I ran into this place and saw it had great reviews and reasonable prices, so I decided to give it a try, and my experience was WONDERFUL! I had an appointment (usually even with an appointment I wait wherever I go), but here I was even taken early and offered a free beverage (including wine and water). They did such a great job on my French shellac manicure and the employees were friendly and attentive. The place is clean and modern, and the overall ambiance is SO relaxing! I called to make an appointment. On the day of my appointment, the salon was completely closed up. No one told me that they'd be closed. No one called to reschedule or even cancel my appointment. Then when I called two days later (day after Christmas) to let the manager know what happened, she just kept saying I'm sorry. Finally, after a lot of back and forth, she offered 10% off. 10%??? That's an insult, especially when this was for Christmas, and at that last minute I wasn't able to get into ANY other salon. I had to spend the holiday with nails looking crazy. Had I known they'd be closed Christmas Eve, I could've made an appointment elsewhere. They should've never taken my appointment, or, if they made a mistake, called to let me know. At the very least, they could've taken responsibility for it when I called them out on it. This is some of the most rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional customer service I've ever experienced at a nail salon. Never again. I took my business to Polished, right around the corner, where they were much more professional. read more
