She also happens to have a Havanese, which is fabulous because they are adorable and... quite stubborn at times. LoL! She gets it. I have boarded my dogs with Alicia 3 times. Every time they come home relaxed, and happy. I don't need to worry. She sends me pics and updates regularly, and at the end of each stay Fitz and Quinn come home with a report on their day to day. Janice could not get her alarm code to work and, of course the alarm company called and I believe the police were there. After we arrived home, we tried the code that we had given to Janice and it worked fine. On our last vacation, Janice's responsibilities included feeding our three cats and giving our favorite cat, Walter, 1.5 units of insulin twice a day. We left explicit written instructions as to what to do and the medication bottle was clearly labeled. She had previously injected Walter without incident. We arrived at our destination. Janice called us the morning of the third day, and said Walter wasn't doing well, she found him on the floor by the front door, foaming at the mouth, and she was taking him to the vet. She called a while later, and explained that she had given Walter 5 units of insulin instead of 1.5. That dosage put Walter near death. After being at our vet that day, he was then taken to Critical Care. On the fourth day, we logged in and read an email Janice had sent on the morning of the second day asking if she should give Walter 5 units or 15 units. We left absolutely no question as to the proper dosage. Whether Janice gave Walter 5 units or 15, he fought hard for two days, then finally died. The vet said that Walter did not register any blood sugar at all when he was brought in and appeared to have some neurological damage as he was having seizures. All Janice had to do was read the bottle, our instructions or call our vet to find out what dosage to give Walter if there was any question at all, but for some reason she did not do so. For that reason she killed Walter. Our grief has only begun and we're sure life will never be quite the same as we will have difficulty ever trusting any pet sitter again. Janice's web site appears to indicate that she is no longer doing pet sitting as we suggested this as we were settling the issue with her. We hope she stands by her word but, if she doesn't, just think of Walter, his suffering and our continuing profound grief. Paul will come pick up your pup, take her out to play off leash and bring her home tired and happy. The next trip might be to downtown Bainbridge for a civilized walk through Waterfront park and then a nice sit down in front of the bakery where your pup will get lots of sweet talk and love from passers-by. A great thing for a dog who might be on the shy side, and need some socialization. Occasionally, he throws 'em all in his paw-covered truck and takes the boat out to Magnusson park for an all day outing. After many years in the hospitality industry, Paul decided to chuck it all and hang out with his doggie friends for a living. He apprenticed himself to a local Seattle trainer to learn the ins and outs of the professional doggie world. He obviously loves his work, and he loves the dogs. He is dedicated to making your dogs' time with him the highlight of the day or week. Paul's professionalism and love of his work were good news for us, because our Ridgeback/Pit Bull mix, Lola , is fierce with strangers who dare come onto her property. Paul was patient and handled her professionally and sensitively. He took his time getting to know her, and now they are best of friends. Good boy, Paul.

He takes her and his other charges on long (and I do mean long - 3-4 mile) walks to Gazzam Lake or occasionally swimming at Pritchard Park. The dogs get exercised like this 3 or more times a day. He's amazing. When we pick Annie up after a week at Paul's she is trim, happy and exhausted (in a good way). I've been impressed with the respect all the dogs have for Paul. They sit nicely in his truck and walk easily on leash with 4 or more other dog friends. They get to lounge on his multiple couches when not exercising and have access to his large fenced backyard. I knew Annie was in the right hands when Paul arrived at our home to pick Annie up on either our 2nd or 3rd stay w/him, and without any encouragement, Annie ran to his truck and hopped right in. No hesitation.

I never imagined I would have to write a review like this. Losing my beloved six-year-old Labrador…read morehas been heartbreaking, and I continue to think about this experience every day. When our last-minute dog-sitting arrangements fell through, I chose Scooters after researching facilities online. I specifically wanted a place with fewer dogs because my dog could become overwhelmed in larger groups. I was also reassured by the understanding that someone stayed with the dogs overnight, as my dog could become anxious sleeping alone in boarding facilities. Scooters charged more than other facilities, but I was willing to pay the premium because I believed he would receive the extra care, attention, and personalized supervision I was looking for. When I brought my dog in for his initial meet-and-greet and temperament assessment, I was surprised to receive a bill by text a couple of weeks later. The fee had never been communicated to me beforehand when they told me he could stay so many hours for the assessment. I would have been perfectly willing to pay for the assessment, but I believe any charges should be clearly disclosed in advance. That should have been a red flag for me on the professionalism of the establishment. During my dog's stay of a little over a week, I received a text on the second day saying he had gotten into a scuffle with another dog. I was told he had been playing with a ball and entered another dog's space. The message said his nose had been cleaned up, with no indication that he might have sustained a bite or that the injury was serious. When I picked my dog up, I immediately noticed he was unusually despondent and unlike his normally happy, affectionate self. His nose had significant scratches and crusting. I later learned from the veterinarian that he may have been bitten, although it was difficult to determine a week after the incident. This left me questioning whether the injury had been adequately assessed and whether veterinary attention should have been sought. I had hoped my dog would return to normal after resting at home, but his behavior and energy remained noticeably different. When I contacted Scooters to express my concerns, I felt the conversation became defensive rather than focused on his well-being. The person I spoke with brought up being shocked that my dog had jumped on a staff member and was too big for that. I was taken aback that this was raised in response to my concerns about his condition after boarding. Over the following days, my dog's health deteriorated rapidly. He was admitted to an emergency veterinary hospital and diagnosed with meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO). Despite efforts to save him, he passed away within a week of coming home. The ER Vet team discussed several possible explanations for his illness. I cannot know whether the incident at Scooters, an infection, stress, or anything else during his stay contributed to his decline, and I do not want to claim a connection that cannot be established. What I know is that my dog was healthy and happy when I brought him to Scooters, and I brought home a dog whose behavior was dramatically different and whose condition deteriorated devastatingly quickly. What made this experience even more painful was the lack of empathy after his death. I emailed the person I believed was the manager to let them know my dog had passed away, but I received no response or condolences. Even my veterinarian and pet insurance expressed condolences. The silence from a facility entrusted with the care of a beloved family member was deeply upsetting. We treat our pets as family. I chose Scooters and paid more because I believed my dog would receive attentive, professional care. Instead, I lost a dog who meant the world to me, and I am left with unanswered questions about what happened during his stay and whether anything could have been handled differently. I think about my dog and this experience every day. One of the hardest things is wondering whether the outcome might have been different had I chosen another facility. I know I may never have an answer to that question, but the uncertainty is something I continue to carry. I am sharing this experience because pet owners deserve transparency about injuries, prompt communication about significant behavioral changes, and staff who recognize when a dog may need veterinary attention. A professional daycare or boarding facility's responsibility should extend beyond supervising dogs to recognizing warning signs, prioritizing their health and well-being, and taking appropriate action when something is seriously wrong. Based on my experience, I have serious reservations about Scooters. My dog deserved to be safe, cared for, and treated with compassion. Losing him has been devastating, and I wish I had never had to write this review.
