Went there today and didn't even get the chance to sit down and eat. When we walked through the door and asked if we could have a table I was told that there was nothing available because you needed a reservation. I said OK how long will the wait be for a table. The girl behind the counter looked at me extremely annoyed and said " well I'm the only person working right now and I'm doing 1 million things, so you're gonna have to wait for me to help you with that" as she rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed. I was appalled at how RUDE she was. I get that she was overwhelmed because she was busy but it was a simple question and she didn't need to answer in the way and tone that she did. And if she's the only person working and doing 1 million things then maybe they need to hire more people. Even if I was told there was a table available within five minutes of when I asked I still would not have sat down and ate there just because of how rude she was. Obsessed with this place! Such a cute cozy spot. If I lived closer or if I had a car, I would come here all the time. We came for Saturday brunch and would've had to wait for a table but luckily there was 3 seats open at their counter. Everything on their menu is local and seasonal and it all tasted like it. If you like spicy, you have to ask for their hot sauce because it's homemade and amazing! A lot of their dishes come with their housemade bread which comes out warm, amazingly fresh and slightly chewy. The buttermilk pancake was a flatter and chewier texture vs a fluffier type of buttermilk pancake I had in mind but it was still delicious. The pork sausage, also homemade was a great pairing with the omelet, bread, home fries or just on its own. We also got to try their seasonal blood orange polenta cake which was lovely. For first timers, I would recommend ordering different items to share so you can try a variety. If you're in the area, this is a must! Although their space is limited, they have taken a really creative approach to making cozy seating arrangements. Such as their window seating, where we sat. Their menu is not very extensive, but they do have a decent breakfast selection. I would like to see more options for lunch though. For their menu selection, their prices are a bit high in my opinion. I went with the French Onion soup, which was great. It was a hearty portion and the presentation was appealing. "WE HEARD YOUR MESSAGE LOUD AND CLEAR!!!" 4 of us hoped to share a memorable experience at Fannie's. We Did! When we asked for a table we were coldly greeted with: "There are no tables available". Okay, so we asked about the big empty tables outside the restaurant and were told: "they belonged to another business, they're not part of this establishment." We were then told: "You should have made a reservation--we're very busy on the weekends"--BUT it was Friday and 10:30 in the morning?! We noticed two very small tables in front of the premises and asked "were THEY part of the establishment, she begrudgingly responded,"Yes". Great!!! We sat down and waited for someone to give us water and our menus, we waited and waited.. .maybe they forgot about Us? So to jog their memory I decided to walk inside and get the menus myself and told her we were thirsty, and would like some water, meanwhile we noticed customers who came after us, walking inside the restaurant and then sitting themselves down outside on the big tables we had originally requested--and to make matters worse, the waitress who we talked to the whole time and told us the tables were for the "other establishment ", bypassed us and handed them menus and WATER and were served FOOD shortly thereafter! Our friend decided to just go inside the restaurant and ask for the day's specials. He was told he was blocking traffic and they didn't have time to tell him about the specials--he should look at the board outside. The board which we couldn't see because it was placed by the big tables that supposedly belonged to the "other establishment." 30 minutes later the waitress is finally ready to take our order--Yaaay-- we're all hungry and can't wait to eat. BUT we were told the only orders she was taking right now were drink orders--NOT FOOD! We told her we were hungry and knew what we wanted to eat. She repeated: Drink orders Only --NOT FOOD! Now I'm past hangry! My blood is boiling. We got a hold of the second waitress and told her we were still waiting for water and wanted to order FOOD--We were told EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH--that's why the wait is sooooo long. Fannie, are you chasing after the chickens for your eggs, or picking the coffee beans or churning the butter? After this exhaustingly long period of time and poor excuse we decided to leave. Our friend walked inside, gave them his credit card to pay for the food we never received, and told them "We Heard Your Message Loud and Clear." He's African-American, his wife is Caucasian and my husband and I are Puerto Rican. He came out and told us that their response was: "that's not the case", the food was coming out soon. We battled within ourselves and debated whether we should just walk away. Our collective hunger won out. We stayed. I ordered your goat cheese omelette with zucchini. . . inedible, I wanted to gag. There was water seeping out of my insipid eggs--it was the water coming out of the overly steamed vegetables--REALLY --why wouldn't you sauté them? So I drank my cold coffee and ate bread with butter. Not one of us enjoyed the food. The food that was chewed was due to hunger. NEVER, EVER, EVER would I return. I say run and stay away. Made reservations for lunch with a friend. I know Fannies so I was prepared for a wait but was glad to have time to catch up with my friend. I think Fannies is primarily a bread and egg restaurant. I ordered the liver pate sandwich. Not at all what I expected when it arrived. The pate was more a spread, a cold fried egg topped the pate with sliced pickles. Unfortunately the entire sandwich was doused with pickle juice. The bread for some reason was very tough. The entire thing was difficult to eat. I tried cutting with a steak knife but after a bite gave up. It was not worth the effort. The lentil salad on the side was good. We were served Earl Grey tea and properly it came in a tea pot. A nice touch. Fannies is a popular place so make sure you have reservations. Prepare to wait as the kitchen is small and everything is made from scratch. Stopped in last weekend and could not choose between the many delicious items on the menu, as well as the chalk board specials. I decided to go with the locally grown grilled vegetable sandwich with Gruyere cheese and toasted breadcrumbs. It was outrageous. And huge. It was accompanied by A delicious cold lentil salad over peppery baby arugula. I've been wanting to try this place since it's in our hood. Heard good things, so my best friend and I went. I ordered their signature eggs, it's their signature so what can go wrong? The bread was so big that the one little egg was lost. We couldn't get a regular cup of coffee as supposedly refills weren't allowed, so we agree with the French press. Meanwhile I saw others with regular coffee. That was confusing. Not sure if I would give it another try since I walk by it almost everyday. Good food but not worth the 1 hour wait after we ordered before getting our food, and my mouth / throat burns are still here 1 day later. A bit annoying that the table next to us seated at least 30-40 mins after us got their food at the same time. Waitress pleasant but some acknowledgement of the super long wait would have been helpful especially when we had to ask whether our food was coming out. I think they forgot our order or they had only 1 person to make drinks, cook and serve food or something else odd going on. Empower your staff to correct problems when they happen. Also guys with the slow kitchen you can't turn the tables as quickly so you lose revenue that would help you further improve service or take home more pay. Keep going though because the food is very good. Edit: btw, the chicken sandwich (tasty) was served so hot that both my wife and I burned the roof of our mouths on it, her with a small piece of her mouth coming off. Should go without saying, but if you serve food so hot that your customers can burn themselves on it, you need to give them a warning when you serve it ('chicken is very hot'). Down the street on main street Phoenicia is Sweet Sue's, nice quaint little place to savor their home made huge pancakes with tons of calories, you will burn hiking in the mountains, gulped down with coffee, nice extensive menu, friendly service, come early to avoid waiting in line. My wife and I stopped here for lunch today (our first time), after seeing some local sites in the Warwick area. The atmosphere at Fannie's is certainly quaint - it is a small cafe with typical Sinatra music, chalkboard specials, happy waitresses, and so on. The menu is fairly small, but I consider that a good thing, as it means the ingredients are fresh. They offer 4 different lunch sandwiches, and all looked pretty appetizing. My curry chicken salad sammy was excellent, served on delicious home-baked bread. On that note, I would say the bread is truly where Fannie's shines. Now for the negatives - we were here for probably 90 minutes total - which is a bit crazy considering it's a small place which doesn't seat very many customers. I got the impression they only have 1 slow-moving fry cook in the back, or are maybe under-staffed on servers. We were probably waiting close to 1 hour to get our sandwiches, which is excessive. All my wife had ordered was soup and bread, and hers also took an hour to come out. Perhaps we hit Fannie's at its busiest moment of the day, I'm not sure. But the speed of the service unfortunately knocks this place down a whole star. I will definitely return to determine this was an isolated incident. All that said, again, we felt the food was quite good, and if we could have reduced our wait time in half, it would have been two thumbs up. read more

I would hate to see a small business fail because they continued to repeat mistakes that they never knew about. This review is not meant as an attack but a friendly informative critique to help a business grow. Perhaps this was an off day (we all have them ) but this was my experience. 1) I ordered a $7 dirty chai which was being prepared by the woman who is possibly the owner of the restaurant, during preparation of the drink a woman entered who was a friend and immediately my drink came to a halt. As the two women caught up, my chai sat in a suspended state for over 10 minutes. The women finally were done and my drink was completed and served. 2) Half of a baguette with 3 savory sides ( flavored butter/ cream cheese) $10 for that price point at least give me a full baguette. 3) Ordered off the specials menu 2 sandwiches which took 1 hour to arrive . This is a small place which envelopes an intimate atmosphere. The owner and the wait staff made no attempt to talk to me and my wife as we waited for what seemed an entire afternoon for two sandwiches. People who walked in after us were sat down, ordered, served and left before our sandwiches arrived. The bill was $55 for lunch that was 2 sandwiches, bread, lemonade, and tea. I would honestly give a 1 or 2 star as I probably will not return but I do not want to bring down the rating on a small business that could have just had a bad afternoon. I really wanted to enjoy this place, the atmosphere is comfortable and the music was great, but I feel that price is only ever an issue in the absence of value. read more

So I see that this place has varying reviews so I guess it depends on the time and day you go. We went for breakfast one weekend that we went to Warwick with another couple. This place was recommended by someone the last time we visited Warwick so we were looking forward to eating here. We made reservations because we heard it was small and it gets crowded so when we got there our table was ready and the place was full. Our server came over and we ordered coffee and bloody Marys. The coffee came out after about 15 minutes and then our orders were taken. That was pretty much the last we saw of our server for a very long time. When we finally got her attention she had forgotten about the bloody Marys and said she would get them. We also ordered refills of coffee and waited quite a while for that too. When the refills did come they served us new cups instead of bringing the pot over. When we asked about this we were told that is what they do. It was strange because now we had eight cups on the table instead of the 4 we originally had. That is just a waste of coffee mugs and maybe that is why it takes so long to get served....maybe they are very busy washing all the extra cups? When our breakfast did arrive it was okay, not great, and by that time an hour had already passed and we were pretty much done with this place. Our server seemed pretty uninterested in serving us or any of the other tables from what we observed. Like I said, maybe it is just the time of day when you go since other people wrote that they had a good experience. All I know is that the four of us were really happy when we found another place for breakfast in town, and that was Wolfies. That place not only had great food but the service was impeccable. And the prices were what they should be for breakfast. At Fannies for the four of us the bill was $110.00 which was a little crazy for breakfast. Since we were away for the weekend having a great time and spending money, we wouldn't have minded the price so much, if the food and service was amazing. read more
