I recently had an unfortunate experience after visiting Fancy Schmancy, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with their unethical business practices. My mother and I went there to find a mother of the bride dress for my wedding, and what we encountered left us shocked and appalled. We spent some time trying on various dresses, ranging in price from $300 to $500. Finally, my mother found the perfect dress that she absolutely loved. However, our excitement quickly turned into disbelief when we saw the exorbitant price tag of $1099. It was a little out of her budget, so we decided to leave and have lunch to discuss our options. Being close to Mother's Day, I wanted to surprise my mother and purchased the dress for her later that day. Later that evening my mother called me to inform me that she had found the exact same dress online at newyorkdresses.com for only $330 and had already purchased it. It was heart-wrenching to realize that I had already paid the full retail price at Fancy Schmancy. In an attempt to rectify the situation, I contacted Fancy Schmancy and explained the circumstances. To my utter disbelief, they coldly informed me of their strict no-return policy and showed no willingness to assist or accommodate me in any way. I even offered to pay a restocking fee, but they outright refused to consider it. What made matters worse was the realization that I had paid full retail price for distressed merchandise that had apparently been sitting in their store for two years, as revealed by one of their associates. This clearly indicates a lack of integrity and fairness on their part. I am deeply disappointed with Fancy Schmancy and their complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Their no-return policy is unreasonable, especially considering the circumstances and the fact that the dress had been untouched in its original packaging for less than 24 hours. I will never step foot in Fancy Schmancy again, and I strongly advise anyone considering shopping there to think twice. I thought this place was beautiful. Dresses were neat and categorized by size and color, and made things very easy for me and my mother to navigate. This place also has such a better range of sizes compared to others I've been to, and I've felt so much better about my size as a teenager. Customer Service was amazing. These two women were absolutely sweet, complimenting me in blue and giving us tips if the padding wasn't fitting just right. However, this one lady made my mom a little overwhelmed. She told us that we had to exit the dressing room as there are people waiting. My mother and I understood that. My mom wanted to quickly show me a dress that she also picked out (we weren't planning to try it on. She just wanted to show me.) and the lady returns saying we can't try on anymore dresses and we must get back in line. From when the woman first told us that we must get back in line to reminding us again was in the span of less than a couple minutes. My mom politely replied saying yes we understood her, that she was just trying to show me a dress while I was getting dressed back into my normal clothes. Also, I think the lighting of the dressing rooms could be a bit brighter. My mother had a hard time zipping me up because of the dim lighting, and I feel as though it would help older generations when it comes to putting dresses on. Overall, I love the silver necklace I purchased, as well as this beautiful blue dress. Fancy Schmancy is worth a trip from anywhere! I needed a dress for an upcoming wedding. My go to color has been solid black for years. The wedding invitation stated spring festive in regard to dress attire. The staff was dedicated to finding a dress that would made me look festive and that would fit me perfectly--- just making a sale was NOT their priority. II know this because I gravitated to a dress that was not quite right. Fancy Schmancy's amazing staff didn't want me to just 'settle'. The owner Susanne cane out to help me. This is my second year in a row coming to Fancy Schmancy for prom dresses, and as we start another season shopping here with my daughters, I couldn't help but write another review! I happened to be in Troy for my uncle's passing recession. So afterward, I needed to do something positive, so my daughters prom is May 11th. Of course, she needed a dress..shoes. A store called "Fancy Schmancy" and in Loudonville? It's going to be so overpriced, I thought. Well....what a pleasant surprise that, not only is the pricing so reasonable, but the store showroom is huge, amazing and beautiful!!!! Soooo much to choose from, and they welcome walk ins! So many places do not (not sure why?). The staff is so positive and upbeat - they work really hard to find the perfect dress for you, one that you'll fall in love with. Parking was easy and as walked in the store we were immediately greeted. The greeter explained how the store worked and we started looking through the dresses. 3 hours later, she purchased her perfect dress. The salespeople were excellent. it cannot be easy dealing with very fussy customers but everyone there from the high school girls to the owner was helpful. She was nominated for a prom giveaway (For those who had financial, medical or other issues.) quite some years back and did not win - however Fancy Schmancy decided that ALL the finalists were deserving and went out of their way to provide her with a gown and shoes. Recently I visited the Albany, NY area and found Fancy Schmancy in Latham (near Fresh Market). What a find! The store's merchandise was incredible, ranging from everyday wear to prom/bridesmaid/bridal/mother-of-the bride. I could have spent all day there! The wonderful staff was very patient with me as I tried on many items. In the end, I purchased a cocktail dress that fit perfectly and am wearing it to a friend's wedding soon.
