I recently had an unfortunate experience after visiting Fancy Schmancy, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with their unethical business practices. My mother and I went there to find a mother of the bride dress for my wedding, and what we encountered left us shocked and appalled. We spent some time trying on various dresses, ranging in price from $300 to $500. Finally, my mother found the perfect dress that she absolutely loved. However, our excitement quickly turned into disbelief when we saw the exorbitant price tag of $1099. It was a little out of her budget, so we decided to leave and have lunch to discuss our options. Being close to Mother's Day, I wanted to surprise my mother and purchased the dress for her later that day. Later that evening my mother called me to inform me that she had found the exact same dress online at newyorkdresses.com for only $330 and had already purchased it. It was heart-wrenching to realize that I had already paid the full retail price at Fancy Schmancy. In an attempt to rectify the situation, I contacted Fancy Schmancy and explained the circumstances. To my utter disbelief, they coldly informed me of their strict no-return policy and showed no willingness to assist or accommodate me in any way. I even offered to pay a restocking fee, but they outright refused to consider it. What made matters worse was the realization that I had paid full retail price for distressed merchandise that had apparently been sitting in their store for two years, as revealed by one of their associates. This clearly indicates a lack of integrity and fairness on their part. I am deeply disappointed with Fancy Schmancy and their complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Their no-return policy is unreasonable, especially considering the circumstances and the fact that the dress had been untouched in its original packaging for less than 24 hours. I will never step foot in Fancy Schmancy again, and I strongly advise anyone considering shopping there to think twice. Their unethical business practices and lack of customer care are simply unacceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and find a reputable establishment that values its customers and provides fair and reasonable policies. It is my hope that this review serves as a warning to others and encourages Fancy Schmancy to reevaluate their practices and prioritize customer satisfaction over profits. read more

I thought this place was beautiful. Dresses were neat and categorized by size and color, and made things very easy for me and my mother to navigate. This place also has such a better range of sizes compared to others I've been to, and I've felt so much better about my size as a teenager. Customer Service was amazing. These two women were absolutely sweet, complimenting me in blue and giving us tips if the padding wasn't fitting just right. However, this one lady made my mom a little overwhelmed. She told us that we had to exit the dressing room as there are people waiting. My mother and I understood that. My mom wanted to quickly show me a dress that she also picked out (we weren't planning to try it on. She just wanted to show me.) and the lady returns saying we can't try on anymore dresses and we must get back in line. From when the woman first told us that we must get back in line to reminding us again was in the span of less than a couple minutes. My mom politely replied saying yes we understood her, that she was just trying to show me a dress while I was getting dressed back into my normal clothes. Also, I think the lighting of the dressing rooms could be a bit brighter. My mother had a hard time zipping me up because of the dim lighting, and I feel as though it would help older generations when it comes to putting dresses on. Overall, I love the silver necklace I purchased, as well as this beautiful blue dress. The zippers are a little stubborn, but other than that, I had a great experience that made me feel secure within my own body. read more

FANCY SCHMANCY boutique is a MUST for anyone looking for that special occasion outfit. It has a huge inventory of special occasion gowns, dresses, outfits and accessories, and the price range is shockingly affordable. All items are available for purchase on the spot, no waiting for an order to arrive. You leave with the item you love. But equally impressive is their level of customer service. They do NOT work on commission. No hard sell. Their only goal is to make you look and feel your best, and for you to leave happy and excited about your new outfit. Kathie in particular has been a life saver for me, as I have needed both a Mother-of-the-bride and a Mother-of-the-groom dress over the last two years. She pulled an amazing array of dresses for me to try on, and also helped me find rehearsal outfits. And the best part? She was honest, and sincere with her commentary. It's hard to say what is the best feature of Fancy Schmancy, their gorgeous inventory, or their incredible service. But, combined, it removes all the stress and anxiety of finding that perfect outfit. I cannot recommend this shop and their staff, especially Kathie, highly enough. And even if you do not have a special occasion coming up, this shop is worth a stop just to check out their stunning collection of shoes, purses, and jewelry. Oh, and of course it's easy to get to, and has plenty of parking. 12 out of 10, highly recommend. read more

I recently had the pleasure of shopping at Fancy Schmancy for my prom dress, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly faces. Despite the store being quite busy, the level of service was outstanding. The girls working there were incredibly attentive and seemed to have a natural talent for multitasking. They made sure every customer felt special and well taken care of. What impressed me the most was how organized and efficient the staff were. They handled the crowd seamlessly, ensuring that everyone received personalized attention. It was clear that they love their job and take pride in what they do. Their enthusiasm and passion for helping customers find the perfect dress were evident in every interaction. The selection of dresses was fantastic, and with the staff's expert guidance, I found a dress that I absolutely adore. They offered honest opinions and helpful suggestions, making the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. I left the store feeling confident and excited for my prom night. I highly recommend Fancy Schmancy to anyone looking for a special occasion outfit. The combination of outstanding service, a great selection of dresses, and a team that truly cares about their customers makes this store a standout choice. Thank you, Fancy Schmancy, for an unforgettable shopping experience! read more

I should have done this years ago but always thought of reviewing restaurants. My introduction to Fancy Schmancy occurred thirteen years ago when looking for a Mother of the Bride dress. There was more of me then and I had lost hope of finding something for one of the happiest days of my life Since then I have been a loyal customer. The staff is aware of my tastes and has been forthright about my choices and aware of my transitions. As a native of NYC my entire wardrobe consisted of black with an occasional surrender to gray or navy. The Fancy Schmancy staff were the first to introduce me to color as an accessory and ultimately to actual garments in color. My tastes are not traditional nor conventional. I like clothing that has clean lines, architectural characteristic and is timeless. The staff is gracious and offers opinions that meet your life style needs. While the store caters to the prom crowd, mothers of the bride and those once in a blue moon special events, it has an array of tasteful elegant clothing for the working woman. Their unique collection of shoes and evening handbags has no comparison in the.Capital region. I encourage you to drop in for the experience and see where it takes you. read more

Fancy Schmancy is worth a trip from anywhere! I needed a dress for an upcoming wedding. My go to color has been solid black for years. The wedding invitation stated spring festive in regard to dress attire. The staff was dedicated to finding a dress that would made me look festive and that would fit me perfectly--- just making a sale was NOT their priority. II know this because I gravitated to a dress that was not quite right. Fancy Schmancy's amazing staff didn't want me to just 'settle'. The owner Susanne cane out to help me. I am a plus size woman and the selection was still expansive. Susanne has an incredible sense of design (her boutique is one of the most beautiful stores I have ever seen). She could envision what would be flattering and found the perfect dress! I am over the moon happy with my experience and highly recommend making Fancy Schmancy the first stop when shopping for special occasions! I know that my relatives will be pleasantly surprised to see me wearing a light blue dress that makes me feel proud and happy. read more

This is my second year in a row coming to Fancy Schmancy for prom dresses, and as we start another season shopping here with my daughters, I couldn't help but write another review! The young girls who work there are absolutely outstanding. They are constantly running around, helping everyone with smiles on their faces, and making sure each girl feels special. We visited during February break, which was incredibly busy, and the staff in the dressing rooms were amazing. I had such a lovely conversation with the girls working back there while they were attending to every single room without missing a beat. Their energy, kindness, and professionalism truly stood out. I also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and her daughter, and they were absolutely amazing to talk to. You can truly tell how much they care about the store and every single customer who walks through the door. We absolutely love this place and will never go anywhere else for prom dresses. Thank you for making both years such wonderful experiences! read more

I happened to be in Troy for my uncle's passing recession. So afterward, I needed to do something positive, so my daughters prom is May 11th. Of course, she needed a dress..shoes. I asked Autumn to google where to buy prom dresses, and she did. Fancy Schmancy came up, so we went there. We had a great experience in there with Susan... Ashley...Kate and a few other staff members I couldn't remember their names. My daughter tried on approximately 10 dresses, which were beautiful. The last one Susan brought out was absolutely stunning, and that happened to be the dress my daughter wanted. Everyone at Fancy Schmancy treated us with the utmost respect and made us feel comfortable in their business. I would recommend this business to all that are looking for dresses. Great quality and great prices. Thank you so much to the staff at Fancy Schmancy! read more

I can't speak highly enough about the service and selection of dresses at Fancy Schmancy. As the mother of the groom, and a larger gal, I found it common to go into a bridal, department, or specialty store and find a very limited number of dresses in my size. Quite the opposite is true of Fancy Schmancy. The selection was enormous. After trying on my initial choices, Katie knew exactly what type of dress I would want and what would look good on me. Many dresses were tried on and I never felt rushed by Katie or any other attendant assisting others. I found the most amazing and flattering dress. Additionally, Katie assisted me in finding the perfect accessories to complement my look. When you are in need of a special dress as the mother of the bride or groom, skip the hassle of online shopping and returns and make a trip to Fancy Schmancy. read more

Very friendly, accommodating and provided exceptional service. Every one went above and beyond, and did so without putting pressure on the clients. The atmosphere was both welcoming and professional, and even the customers weighed in to help each other. That is the type of culture the owner creates. I normally do not like shopping in the smaller stores because of the pressure they put on you. Not here, I even felt comfortable to ask for their opinion. They even steamed press my top to make sure I was satisfied. I walked out with my outfit and cannot wait to show it off at my special event next month. Thank you, Fancy Schamcy for taking exceptional care of me. I see a bright future with many Fancy Schamcy clothes in my closet and on me when I am going to special places. MT. read more

There is really NO WHERE ELSE you should shop for a prom dress or Mother of the Bride, Cocktail Party Attire, etc. When a friend suggested this store for a MOTB dress, I was hesitant. A store called "Fancy Schmancy" and in Loudonville? It's going to be so overpriced, I thought. Well....what a pleasant surprise that, not only is the pricing so reasonable, but the store showroom is huge, amazing and beautiful!!!! Soooo much to choose from, and they welcome walk ins! So many places do not (not sure why?). The staff is so positive and upbeat - they work really hard to find the perfect dress for you, one that you'll fall in love with. If you can't find the perfect dress here - and the perfect staff to assist - then you won't find it anywhere. read more

My daughter has been shopping around for a prom dress for a while, but when we heard greet things about Fancy Schmancy we decided to give it a try. Parking was easy and as walked in the store we were immediately greeted. The greeter explained how the store worked and we started looking through the dresses. 3 hours later, she purchased her perfect dress. The salespeople were excellent. it cannot be easy dealing with very fussy customers but everyone there from the high school girls to the owner was helpful. I highly recommend this store for proms, dances, and weddings. In this day and age when service has vanished, I found this store to be a pleasant experience. I will definitely return! read more

Fancy Schmancy made my daughter's prom experience so memorable. She was nominated for a prom giveaway (For those who had financial, medical or other issues.) quite some years back and did not win - however Fancy Schmancy decided that ALL the finalists were deserving and went out of their way to provide her with a gown and shoes. They treated her like a princess. It was a very difficult time for our family with my illness and disability, and I will never forget the amazing generosity and professionalism they displayed towards me and my daughter. This local business knows how to treat customers. Their selection of gowns for those over size 14, in store is also a plus. Kudos! read more

This business woman exemplified the meaning of Customer Service. I ordered a birthday swim suit for my granddaughter in early July for an early August birthday. When the birthday was drawing near and the order still showed processing I reached out for help. We had a little communication hiccup at first, but soon we were engaged with each other. She explained the situation and offered a solution. I had to choose a different suit, but she made sure that it was shipped and received before the party. My granddaughter was thrilled and honestly, I think the alternative suit was probably the better choice anyway. read more

Recently I visited the Albany, NY area and found Fancy Schmancy in Latham (near Fresh Market). What a find! The store's merchandise was incredible, ranging from everyday wear to prom/bridesmaid/bridal/mother-of-the bride. I could have spent all day there! The wonderful staff was very patient with me as I tried on many items. In the end, I purchased a cocktail dress that fit perfectly and am wearing it to a friend's wedding soon. I wish I'd known of this store last year when my daughter was getting married. I'm certain that I would have been much happier with my gown had I gotten it at Fancy Schmancy! read more

My experience with Fancy Schmancy was nothing less than SPECTACULAR! From the initial day of shopping for my daughter's PROM dress, to alterations and pick up was AWESOME! On PROM day we ran into a situation with the dress that needed the attention of a seamstress. I brought the dress in and was greeted by the owner, Susanne Dura, who handled the matter personally. She went above and beyond and got the dress back to us by 2 pm. Thank you to the Fancy Schmancy team - BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. With having 3 daughters, we will definitely be back for many more dresses. read more

This store was highly recommended by my daughters school friends. After a miserable experience at another store, we came here without hesitation. I wish it had been our first stop! The service, atmosphere, attention, selection, and Suzanne and the staff are among the best! These reasons turned an unfortunate experience into an absolutely wonderful one. I highly, highly recommend this store - and their alteration services - and we will be buying our special occasion dresses here for the foreseeable future. Thank you Fancy Schmancy! read more

I am soon to be the mother of the bride and many people suggested I go to Fancy Schmancy for a dress so I thought I would give it a try. The staff was incredibly helpful and had a great sense of what would look well on me.
