De Anna's seems to foster a love/hate reaction. Most of the reviews that have been previously written are based upon the bridal services provided by the business. So far, only one other review has addressed the rest of the business which includes women's clothing, jewelry, candy, soaps and other personal care products, greeting cards, knickknacks, and holiday gifts. There is a sign on the back of the building where the main entrance is located, directing bridal service customers in one direction and all others to a different entrance. We were in search of holiday gift ideas and purchases so we avoided the bridal entrance - you probably need an appointment to shop there in any event. As already noted, there are a lot of things for sale in the main store, and that may be a problem. While the clothing, almost exclusively for women ( I saw a sign saying they have men's hats and scarves) appears to be well organized by color, there is so much of it packed into racks and on shelves that it actually is a chore to browse. If you are looking for products made in the U.S.A. or Canada, there are options available. Staff were friendly and helpful in our search for personal care products. They offered to gift bag our purchase and removed all price stickers. However, when we requested who made their chocolate candy, the only response was that it came from a variety of places. As one other reviewer pointed out, an important feature that is lacking in the store is a restroom for customers. You may have to drive a mile or so to find one (Hannaford? Shop Rite?). I made an appointment to visit to shop for a mother of the groom dress. It was an hour drive for us. I called ahead to say I would be arriving early and was told that would be ok. There were THREE dresses to choose from, so things didn't take long. I bought a few other things and we left. Arriving home the phone rang and an ANGRY woman wanted to know why I didn't show up for my appointment. I, of course, related that I DID. She said, "I'm UPSTAIRS!" I said "I told the saleswoman I had an appointment and she never told me to go there!" "Well you should have seen the signs!" "What signs? I went in and was helped. How is this my fault? Terrible, inflexible return policy. I live in Boston, got a cardigan sweater gift for Xmas, wasn't sure about it, kept it and figured I could exchange when I came back to Albany end of Jan. Exchange, not return, not money back, just exchange. Went to return and was told 1/20/23 was cutoff for returns/exchanges. I was there a week later. I pleaded with the owner, Dianne, to make an exception, but she stated she already did reorders based on 1/20/23 inventory, so she won't help me. My sister has shopped there often over decades. I agree with the other reviewer to buy your wedding dress here! It's by appointment only so you have the whole place to yourself and whoever you bring with you to help pick out a dress. When I went I told her what I was looking for, she thought a minute and then came back with a dress. I took one look at it and said no way! That won't look good on me! I tried several dresses on and you know what? I ended up buying that first one I said no way to! She was spot on when she picked that one out for me! It was perfect and it looked beautiful on! I'm in an upcoming wedding this fall, and we all ordered dresses with our custom measurements (that some of us previously used for a wedding this summer that fit perfectly) that came out so large. I am a size 6/8 and the dress has a tag that says size 16... I am swimming in the dress and it was expensive, yet they said this was the dress that I ordered and they tend to "run small". DeAnna's is pretty much the best shop ever. My wedding was in Oct 2020 and since we changed our original plans due to COVID, ended up planning the wedding we had in a matter of weeks. My mom introduced me to DeAnna's after she got her beautiful MOB dress there. I went for the first time a few weeks before my wedding to look for a shawl or coat to wear if it was cold on the wedding day. Dianne had thoughtfully set aside different options that might work with my dress for me to try. Ironically, although I got a great and versatile white soft shawl, I ended up not needing it since it was 70+ degrees on my wedding day. Luckily though, I scored a ton of other things at DeAnna's that were on my to-do list. I got my veil, earrings, and a belt to sew onto my wedding dress and loved all of them. Dianne even gave a recommendation for our hair/makeup person that I ended up using! Dianne and the whole staff at DeAnna's are so helpful and provide exceptional customer service. On the recommendation of friends, I made an appointment with Deanna for my mother-of-the-groom gown. Hers was the first store that I stopped at, and my plan was to see what she offered before looking at a couple of other stores. It turned out that I walked out an hour later having ordered a stunning gown. Deanna will only work with brides and their families by appointment, so when you are with her you are her entire focus. She has a wonderful eye - after reviewing my thoughts and taking a look at my body shape, she offered up three dresses. Each one was stunning in its own way, so my decision was based on which was most comfortable and made me feel most special. She delivered the dress on the schedule we agreed on and her alterations were spot on. The wedding was a week ago and I felt wonderful in my Deanna's gown. The reason I did not give a five star review to Deanna is that we had a misunderstanding about the cost of alterations and accessories (specifically, a belt). If you shop at Deanna's, I encourage you to clarify these costs in writing when you make your purchase. read more

You get what you pay for! Buy your wedding gown here! The best experience in the Capital District. Bridal shop is by appointment only. Personal service is their specialty. You have the entire place to yourself and your friends or your mom. Beautiful, affordable gowns...nothing priced over $2000.....find a gown for WAY less than $1000. They don't cut the tags out of their dresses...you know who you're buying. By far the best price for the gown I wanted. The lower level is a specialty gift shop. Vintage jewelry at a great price. Some of the gifty items are priced at boutique levels. But the service in the bridal shop is AMAZING! I will purchase any and all formalwear in the future from here. DeAnna's is the most attentive business I've ever worked with. When you're shopping for your wedding gown, it should be! No pressure, easy to work with, friendly, I was welcomed with a smile on every visit. I was undecided after my first visit and she said to go home, think about it and come back! She keept track of what I liked and didn't like in my own file! After my first alteration, the dress fit like a glove and looked awesome, but I was a little uncomfortable. Never again! My friend took me here for my first visit last year. I spent over $700 on a few outfits, which I rarely do....except this was for our 45th high school class reunion, to be held the following week (3 days of activities!). Several things went wrong. Once she gets your money she does not care about you! It started when Deanna didn't have the white slacks I wanted in the right length, but said she could shorten them in time for my event. It should be noted here that this brand comes not only in sizes, but in varying lengths within each size - except she couldn't get the correct fit from her supplier in time for my event. So, I agreed to have them shortened (at $15 for ~$112 slacks) she pinned these slacks to the correct length, with me wearing the very shoes I intended to wear with them. She'd call me in two days, she said. She didn't call me back, I had to hound her. Yes, the slacks were ready she said. I drove an hour over to pick them up, drove home and tried them on (which I should have done at the store, except I figured with her being a bridal shop she'd be spot on). They were 3 inches too long! I called. Deanna avoided talking with me - her salespeople kept saying she couldn't come to the phone because she was too busy with other customers. I called back, and when we finally talked, her only solution was to have me return the slacks to be hemmed! Of course now, I wouldn't have these slacks for the event for which I'd bought them. I asked her whether I could instead just go ahead and order the pair in the correct sizing (and length), like the second pair I'd bought in another color. She refused that idea saying they would be the wrong length for her to resell. And she was nasty. First she got all dramatic and said that no one appreciated how hard she worked or how many hours she labored....really? She would NOT accommodate me and charged me another $15.00 for the "second" hemming. And of course that was another hour's drive to get them back to her. The story goes on and on. I simply have zero respect for a retail businesswoman who gouges customers and gives zero satisfaction. I will never shop at this store again. And I continue to tell all of my friends about Deanna's lack of customer service. Perhaps some day she will realize that customers are her bread and butter. read more

Many of my peers recommended Deanna's for MOB dresses and I couldn't have been happier. Dee has a wonderful gift of recommending the most flattering dress sillouhette for your body type. She was spot on with me. She also offers a sheer wrap that can be draped in numerous ways to accent the dress and not restrict movement. Yes, the dresses/gowns are pricey, but her service is second to none. She and her staff are warm and welcoming and I never felt uncomfortable or rushed. After visiting 4 other lovely bridal shops in Albany and Saratoga, DeAanna's was my last appointment one Saturday last March. The owner is the only one who handles bridal appointments (bride, mothers, bridesmaids) and there is only one appointment scheduled at a time -- incredible personal service. Diane took one look at me after I told her what I was looking for, pulled a dress, and after I saw myself in the mirror I was done shopping! Literally the first (and only) dressed she pulled hit the nail on the head. All of the other dresses I tried on at other places were missing something, but this one had it all. None of the dresses are more than $2,000. I had a total of two fittings and my dress was altered and bustled perfectly. The cost of alterations was very reasonable. I lost about 5 pounds between the final fitting and my wedding. Diane quickly put me on the schedule to try it on (no additional modifications needed because it was a corset back). I also purchased my veil and hair pins here (both very fairly priced). Can't say enough good things about my bridal experience at DeAnna's. She books up in advance so if you want to look for a dress on a Satuurday, expect to schedule it about 2 months in advance. read more

I have shopped here for years for everything from gifts (from chocolate to jewelry) to formal dresses for myself and my daughter. Most recently, I purchased a beautiful dress for a vow renewal ceremony. The staff and owner could not be more helpful or kind. They go out of their way to assist you with anything you may be looking for but they also allow you time to browse on your own. They have an amazing selection of personal gifts and items for the home and their jewelry and clothing lines are unique and diverse. It's quite easy to get to and definitely worth a trip! read more

My daughter got her wedding gown here. Try-on went perfectly. Gown fit perfectly in her size. When ordered gown came in, it was too big. It was ordered 1-2 sizes bigger than the original try-on size. Now it was close to the Wedding and she obviously needed major alterations, but DeAnna's was tooooo busy and couldn't find time for an appointment. Had the alterations done elsewhere last minute and she wore an oversized altered wedding gown, which was quite obvious. It doesn't matter whether someone ordered the wrong dress, or they had one they needed to get rid of, or they got burned once because a bride swelled up between first try-on and the wedding. It was a costly experience from hell. If they tell you they will order you a larger gown or tell you your dress is in and its not your size, beware! read more

Wow . . . What a shocker. I visited the shop yesterday. No restroom. Deanna's is a 'destination' shop, quite a distance from anywhere. And no restroom. I've shopped here two times, easily spent $400++ each time . . . It takes quite a while to see everything, especially in women's clothing. Its packed, stuffed, and everything needs to be taken apart to see the actual item. Its great if you have time, which I planned on . . . except I needed to use the ladies room . . . And none available. I was told the nearest restroom was a mile away. "Really", I asked? Incredulous because this building isn't old, and there are additions. Does the staff use an outhouse? What do mothers of the bride do, or a jittery bride? Or people who've been shopping there a while? Or driven a while. I come from Hudson . . . so, I won't/can't take that chance. Too bad. I told the sales girl I wouldn't be back . . . And I left . . . What else could I do? read more

I have to give DeAnna's a bad review. I purchased a mother of the bride gown from there and when I got home I was very unhappy with it. I called immediately and let them know. I didn't even want my money back, I told them I would take store credit. For that much money you would think they would have the decency to at least give me store credit and work with me. I even told them I would pay a restocking fee. I told them I would spend even more in the country store in the future. Well by them not being willing to do business with a good customer, they have lost my business and I hope others think twice about going there and spending any time looking for a gown or gifts. read more

I attempted to make appointments with Diane of DeAnna's several times, trying to plan said appointments within a week of appointments at other bridal shops, so that all the gowns I tried on would be relatively fresh in my mind. DeAnna's was able to offer me an appointment in the near future only ONCE, other wise DeAnna's was always booked 2 to 6 weeks out. I made the appointment for the ONE AND ONLY day that was offered in a reasonable space of time & unfortunately on that day my sister had a medical emergency that resulted in me rescheduling my appointment... for weeks away. Before I had even called Deanna's the 1st time I had already been to 7 other bridal shops & tried on countless gowns. I had my gown narrowed down to 2 dresses- 1 at Something Bleu Bridal Salon, another at Lily, (both in Saratoga), but there was a particular gown that DeAnna's carried that I had seen on line at a designers web site & wanted to try on before I made my final decision. En route to the hospital I called Diane & explained my situation,apologized, & told her that I'd be unable to keep my appointment that day. When I asked if Diane if she still had a time slot available for another day that she had informed me of previously, albeit 3 weeks away, she told me that it WAS still available. Anxious to try the dress on so that I could proceed with making my final decision, I booked the appointment for the time slot 3 weeks out, (for the retelling of what happened I'd like to clarify that the phone call I placed to Diane canceling my appointment was THE SAME PHONE CALL on which I RESCHEDULED). By this time I had spoken to Diane on no less than 3 separate phone calls & she had referenced this, most recent, appointment several times. Looking forward to trying on the dress for weeks I had the date & time of the second appointment committed to memory. I called the morning of the appointment to confirm, knowing it was for 2:00 that afternoon. A young woman who I had never talked to before answered the phone & told me she'd have to call me back in 25 minutes stating the appointment book was "upstairs" with Diane who was currently with another client & due to the fact that they were short-staffed there was no way for her to help me at that time; she took my phone number & again stated she'd call back in 25 minutes. Forty five minutes later I had not received a return call. I called again, the same young woman answered, made no apology for not returning my call & abruptly put me on hold. A minute or two later Diane picked up the phone. Diane claimed on the day of the emergency when we last spoke "we let you cancel your appointment on that day but you never rescheduled." I felt like I'd just been sucker-punched in the stomach. I said 'I absolutely most certainly did, you told me on various occasions about the availability of that appointment & I remember very vividly the reluctant feeling I had when I told you to please schedule me for THAT VERY APPOINTMENT, despite the fact that I really did not want to wait that long. I KNOW I DID!' Diane responded by saying "Well, I can see if we can squeeze you in today, but we were doing you a favor by scheduling you the FIRST TIME... the day you had your 'emergency...'" she was speaking in a very snide and patronizing tone & at this point I decided that I didn't care if DeAnna's was going to supply me with my dream gown for free, I ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT GOING TO DO BUSINESS WITH SOMEONE THAT TREATED ME SO TERRIBLY! I retorted by saying "well thank you for the favor but..." at which point Diane cut me off & in an even more sarcastic, snide, C-U-Next-Tuseday-like tone said, "I hope you have a WONDERFUL wedding and..." at which point I said 'Really, REAALLY, wow, F-U,' and hung up. I would advise any and every one to avoid DeAnna's at all costs. There are many wonderful places in the Capital District to shop for your wedding gown... places that will go out of their way to make you feel like you are an appreciated, valuable, beautiful bride-to-be, and some of which may even make you feel like you are their ONLY priority. Don't waste your time with DeAnna's- I was never made to feel like anything more than one in a long list of numbers, a nuisance really... like I should feel privileged or special to even get an appointment there. Worse yet, the experience that should have been a joyous, special process of choosing my gown, was turned into a disrespectful debacle by Diane. Please, please do yourself a favor & save yourself the heart ache & anxiety of making an appointment at DeAnna's & go elsewhere. They don't have any dress labels that other bridal shops don't offer... the only thing unique about DeAnna's is that they made me feel like crap. read more

My daughter purchased her wedding dress at Deanna's. Her dresses are Maggie Sotera's, which is a beautiful line. The dress was sleeveless, and my daughter asked Diane to have sleeves put on, as well as a change in the neckline. Diane was meticulous. At each fitting, she held the lace in different positions until she was certain my daughter was pleased. Even with extensive alterations, Diane was always pleasant and never took advantage by charging more. The dress was absolutely STUNNING. I am not kidding. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Everything came out perfectly, exactly as my daughter envisioned. We were all so happy with the dress. You need to make appointments to purchase a bridal dress here, so you can't just wander in. Initially I had thought that would be annoying, but when you get there you are the only ones and have the entire focus of Diane, in a special bridal room. Honestly, I can be very particular, but I would absolutely return to this venue. I can't say enough positive things about it. read more

It has all kinds of gift-type things that would appeal to women (think soaps, lotions, dried flowerarrangements, doily, china, gourmet foods, candles, jewelry) but they have a nice line of boutique clothing that is pricey but high quality. I bought my wedding gown here after a coworker recommended the shop to my mother. As I live in Australia, I was lucky enough to be squeezed in for a last minute appointment on my visit. I'd been to all the shops with the miles of white dresses hanging, overwhelming you with indecision. Right away, this was different. We went up to the bridal fitting area and had a chat about what styles I like, what I was looking for. And then she went and brought out about 5 gowns. I tried each one, told her what I liked and didn't about each so she could fine tune the selection each time. It was totally unnecessary as she nailed it with gown #1, but it was a really enjoyable experience- and I hate shopping so that's saying something! My bridesmaids ended up getting their gowns here as well due to her wonderful attention to detail. Then my mother and grandmother both got their dresses here as well. My aunt found her dress in the shop downstairs, which has some very cute dresses and outfits- I have a dress from here I always get compliments on when I wear it to weddings. And I got the jewelry for my bridesmaids, as well as my own wedding earrings, here as well. It's out of the way, I would never have found this place without the recommendation, and I am SO GLAD that I did.
