Was in search of a nice suit, I have never been satisfied with the options available from the pushy sales staff at the 3 for the price of 1 stores (must be a huge markup to stay profitable when giving away suits...), or the standard department store options. I was not looking to spend a small fortune for a suit I will only wear a few times per year. I have now experienced a level of service far beyond my wildest expectations. Despite not being in the higher echelon of budget, having very limited experience and an engineers sense of style. The gentlemen at Mark Thomas worked with me to build a beautiful suit / shirt / tie combination. They have the passion and the knowledge to help me choose patterns and textures, while educating me how to combine them to extract the most from an elegant Navy & Black suit. I have gone back for more shirts (that fit correctly, unlike prepackaged of dept. store options), a few more ties, and some chinos. The in house Tailor is a miracle worker, never before has a suit fit so well, looked so nice, and been so comfortable. A multi-generational commitment to customer service, with a beautiful selection of styles colors and materials, all in a locally owned friendly package. Great "Old School" service and quality, not found easily in today's world. Mark was attentive and informative while always being respective of the customer, in the case of this afternoon, attending to eventually 2 or 3 of us simultaneously. I should mention that I required time to find what I really loved, about 2 hours to complete a suit purchase. I was never rushed or pressured, only cajoled and assisted. Along the way, I met several other "regular customers" who exemplified a dedication to quality, beautiful selection, and impeccable service. All of this was exemplified by the staff at Mark Thomas. Obviously, each of these other customers have determined that they have confidence in Mark's commitment to ensuring that they will look great with his quality selections not to found elsewhere. My brother and I went in for new suits and walked out feeling great about our purchases and the experience overall. Tom helped fit us and helped us to find suits, and was very knowledgeable, professional, and considerate. The suits look great, fit us well, and alterations were done on-site. Since my pants only needed a length adjustment, they even took care of it while my brother was getting fitted. Tom was efficient at helping us to find clothes, but not rushed - which only helped to make us feel respected as customers in their store. Their suits, shirts, and shoes strike me as higher quality than typical menswear stores, but cost more because of it. That said, Tom was great at staying within our budget, and never pushed or offered additional items that would push us out of that range. This is hands down the BEST place to go for men's suits and dress clothes. My boyfriend and I have been here several times. Each and every time Mark and Tom recognize us and remember us by name, and really make us feel like they genuinely value us as customers and people. Not only is their customer service outstanding, but you cannot beat the care and quality they put into making sure you are getting exactly what you want. My boyfriend wore a spot in the seat of one of his suits and brought it in to see if there was anything they could do. Mark told us he could have it woven back together free of charge. We even walked away that day with two new suits and ties! I could not recommend them more, especially for young professionals, they will tailor your suit exactly how you like and make you feel great about purchasing from them. We are thrilled to be able to add to this collection of praise, for the experience was everything we could have hoped for! Tom helped me find a coat that perfectly suited my needs and he was warm and genuine--qualities rare to find in a salesman. I ended up also purchasing a pair of pants, and they were able to tailor both the coat and the pants in under an hour for me (we had limited time before we were due at the rehearsal dinner). I went to Mark Thomas last minute for a suit for thanksgiving. I went to the big name department stores and I could not find anything that fit well and all of the suits were made out of very poor quality fabric. Then I went on the internet and found Mark Thomas. The store immediately gave me the impression of a higher end store. This is the first suit that I have bought for myself, so I was not sure exactly what to look for. They eye-balled a size and it fit well and made me look great. I was surprised at how easy it was for them. After my suit was measured, they gave me great options for dress shirts, ties and pocket squares. And the best news is that they even said they would even press and clean it all for me for NO CHARGE!!!. On top of that, the entire package was early two days early. Overall a great experience. These guys really are fantastic. I signed up for Yelp just to write this review. I showed up on a Monday morning in a snowstorm and needed a sportcoat, slacks and a new tie for the following weekend. (5 days away) I am a hard-to-fit goon size. Mark came right up to me, greeted me and went right to work. We started looking at options, sizing, and cloths. He started calling around with my jacket size, found me a great Made in USA sport coat and had it overnighted in. I tried on some slacks, the seamstress came out and took measurements for the alterations. I came back on Wednesday when the jacket came in, and they had it modified for Friday morning pickup. I am retired and suddenly was in need of a new suit for a wedding and a blazer for a graduation. Since my size and shape are not conducive to buying off the rack, I searched the internet and found Mark Thomas Men's Apparel. Turns out it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Without a lot of thinking they knew what suit would probably fit and look good on me. They were able to make the necessary alterations that made me feel very comfortable when I tried it on. Since I need a larger shirt but have short arms, they even altered a dress shirt that fits perfectly. My fiancé and I came to Mark Thomas looking to purchase a suit for our upcoming wedding. As soon as we walked in the door, we were warmly greeted and one of the salesmen started pulling different pieces to see what suit would look best. As my fiancé has an athletic build, it is not possible to find a standard suit set that fits (either the pants or the jacket would be a number of sizes off). They were great about helping him try on different options and ordering in separates to make him look great! The pieces came in quickly- maybe only a week or two after our visit. Their onsite tailor is phenomenal and after one fitting, the suit fit him perfectly! We are very pleased with the suit and we know it will last him for many events beyond our wedding. I went to Mark Thomas seeking a suit on short notice for my mothers funeral. Tom and his son Kerry could not have nicer they gave me their condolences then Tom went to work finding me a suit. Tom did a great job you can tell he's a real pro.Tom had his taylor measure me and I was done with the whole process in about half an hour it was great.This was about 2pm on a Thursday Tom called me 10am Friday and said the suit was ready this was great the funeral was 11am Saturday.The suit was beautiful and fit perfectly.At such a stressful time in my life these guys really came through and moved me to the top of the list as a favor.The quality of the clothes is only topped by the quality of the people who run this store thank you guys I will tell all my friends about you. read more

The brands and products in the store are of high quality and very reasonably priced. Above all, the service is impeccable. I got fitted and selected my purchases - with some difficulty, given the great choices - and left with an appointment to pick up the tailored items in four days. As a soon-to-be graduating college student in NYC, they were extremely kind and informative due to my inexperience with fine suits. I returned to Mark Thomas after several years when I realized that the suits I bought there still looked good while others purchased more recently at chain stores quickly took on a shine (not a good thing) and looked beat. Mark Thomas carries higher end products with fine fabric. So, on return, I bought a very nice suit at a fair price and received great service as well. They promised alterations for the date I wanted and called me a week in advance to tell me it was ready. I went to Mark Thomas to get a suit for myself. I would consider my style to be very androgynous. I was concerned about how I would be accepted as a female purchasing a suit in a men's store. I could not have been received any better. Mark and Todd made me feel right at home. Mark knows his stuff. I felt so taken care of and not once did they make me feel awkward for being there. I needed a new suit for my daughter's wedding. Best. Experience. Ever. The service is excellent without being stuffy, and the selection of suits, shirts, and ties is outstanding. Everything is fine quality, understated and elegant. The prices are higher than the chain stores, but reasonable for the quality. I have always been hard to fit and somewhat dissatisfied with my purchases elsewhere, and assumed it was just my build. This is a fantastic place to buy men's clothing. The service is spectacular, the prices are extremely competitive with online prices and the products are all far superior to big-box outlets. The store books events with all its vendors, invites you to meet the manufacturers and see their latest lines, etc.. They are doing everything they can to be the absolute best destination for men shopping in the capital district, and they are succeeding.
