When I went to pick a color for my pedicure, the selection was terrible. I had to try to reach to the highest shelf to get a color I wanted. As I was reaching up, my jacket touched the lower rack which knocked over a polish and it broke on the floor. My technician was telling me I might have to pay for it! Accidents happen and no customer should have to pay for something like that that was not intentional. In addition, the technician constantly nicked me when clipping my nails. She goes out of her way to book the entire salon out for you for as long as you need it! She encourages you to bring drinks and food. The positive is that I really enjoy being able to call and get a same day appointment. They also do dip powder nails with extensions for a reasonable prices similar to other salons in the neighborhood. The negatives are that I've gotten my nails done here four times within the past year and every single time I've had an issue. Nails are ALWAYS crooked, the dip isn't done correctly, the nails are all different sizes and sometimes different shapes, etc. It's little things that I just wish this salon would pay closer attention to detail and quality of work, which would really make this place excellent. read more

I'm giving this place 4 stars because I typically have a good experience here. However, yesterday I was a little taken aback at how rude Tracy was to me. I'm not a regular customer and had a gift certificate. I asked if I could put the tip on the gift certificate and she said yes and asked how much. She had a calculator in front of her, so I gave her the percentage. She looked at me, clearly annoyed, and said "Just give me the amount." I hope this place remembers that in order to get, and keep, regular customers they have to be nice to ALL customers. Don't take your frustration out on others. Maybe they should consider getting someone to answer the phones to minimize the multi-tasking. Tracy is taking phone calls, waxing eyebrows and doing nails. I have been going to Fancy Nails Hillsborough for at least 10 years, maybe longer. I have been having Tyler do my nails for as long as I can remember. I enjoy going and sitting with Tyler, while he does my nails. We talk about, food moving, so many things. He has made me laugh since day one. His work has always been great. If I ever have an issue, I just text or call and he says come in I will fix it. I have actually had my nails or pedicures done by all of the lovely ladies in this shop. They have the best staff. It's the place when you come in and everyone knows your name. I moved out of town and still come from the shore to get my nails done. I can't find a nail place down here. First of all they are good at what they do, they are nice, shop is clean and a very important thing is they all speak English very well!!! I know the shop owner Tracy insists on that. I had a 9:30 am nail appointment, I was a little annoyed when I was still waiting at 9:40 only because I was on a tight schedule that day. This is a straight up O.G. nail salon. They only do acrylics (offering pink and white or basic acrylic) and gel or traditional polish. No LCN gel. No powder dip. Cindy was amazing. I went here today after reading great reviews. I walked in at 3pm, there were 2 women customers and 3 employees. The woman sitting closest to the door looked up and asked if I had an appointment - I said no - there is a giant sign on the door that says WALK INS WELCOME. She said "oh. Then we can't fit you in. This place is top notch! Went in for gel nails and my technician was so nice and personable. Nails looked great! Got in my car, looked at my nails, and realized I really hated the color. I thought it was going to look differently, but I ended up hating it. I felt so bad, but I went back to Fancy and told them how I was so sorry, but really didn't like the color. They said no problem! Pretty disappointed with my experience here. I'm new to the area and was looking for a new go-to salon.. the reviews were good here so I figured I'd try it out. I made an appt 3 days before for two pedis and I reiterated a few times on the phone that it was for two people. I arrive the morning of, on a time crunch to prep for a wedding, and was told they only had one person down and couldn't see the second person for 4 hours, which just didn't work for us. Very unaccommodating and not so great customer service. Since it was their mistake they should have been able to adjust their schedule around to get the second person in sooner. I just saw that a couple of people are providing bad reviews about Fancy Nails and I wanted to respond. Someone said that it was dirty. That has to be a mistake. In 16 years, I have never seen the place dirty or unkept. They are meticulous about making sure to clean up after every customer. They also have updated and redecorated several times. Someone else stated that they received poor service and that the nail technician was not good. As I stated previously, they ALL do a fabulous job and in the event that you are not satisfied, they will redo for free. I have seen examples of this through the years. Someone also said that the place was crowded. Well, I would prefer a crowded salon as opposed to one that was empty. Crowded means customers or better yet satisfied customers! Some of you may be wondering why I am taking the time to respond? As I also stated previously, Tracy, Tyler, Cindy, Vicky, Judy and Jessica make you feel like family. From the second I walk in, I am greeted and treated like a friend and not just a customer. I see this repeated with everyone that walks in. I came here for a pedicure last week. The place was very well kept and very clean. The pedicure itself was just ok, nothing amazing. They do use one hot stone at the end, but the massage was more like a light rub on my legs. Everyone was very nice don't get me wrong, but I was a little put off that during my pedicure the girl was texting and then accepting phone calls when she should have been concentrating on me. You pay for a service you deserve to get what you paid for. Guess I will have to find a new place. read more
