I had seen this salon on Groupon and called to get myself an appointment. They advised me not to buy the Groupon but to take a screenshot of how much it was online so they could price match in person, and they did just that! I got a partial balayage with Olaplex treatment, haircut, and blow dry. Rachael was my hair stylist for my appointment and I'm so glad I got her. The balayage she did was beautiful. She did it with the exact color I wanted and my hair after the treatment felt so soft and healthy. The people who work here are so nice and funny, we were talking about the most random things and I was laughing so much. They also offered me coffee and snacks which I really appreciated! I gave this place a 3 because they did a nice job on my hair, however, these people are more pushy about cross selling products than people that work mall kiosks. Instead of having a normal small talk conversation, pretty much every question that was asked of me during my haircuts was a set-up to offer me another service and this place is not cheap to begin with. Stylist: I hate this humidity. My hair gets so frizzy. Me: Yeah, I have the same issue in the summer. Stylist: Do you want a keratin treatment? We are running a special. It's ONLY $100! Then someone practically threw a $40 bottle of what was basically high end frizz ease at me when I was at the desk paying for my haircut. I absolutely love this salon and all of their stylist. My stylist is Rachael and she exceeds my expectations in every way. I especially love her knowledge about different hair types and how she works with me to get exactly what I want. She is magical with a pair of scissors and also creates the most beautiful and vibrant hair colors and I have dark hair! She is patient and thorough with her work. This is my first time leaving a review for a salon and not something I often do but feel it is necessary after realizing the state of my hair. I came in for a women's cut, asked for about 2 inches off and to follow the cut i currently had, specifically wording it as a "refresh" with the possibility of LONG layers. When I first left the salon, it was styled and although i felt it was shorter than what I anticipated, I left with the impression the quality of my haircut was okay. After sitting on it for about a day and showing friends who are stylists, attempting to style it multiple ways, I believe i was given quite the chop job. It is unfortunate because I had really great conversation with my stylist and felt very welcomed in the environment, but the results are not up to standard. The length is uneven, the layers are choppy and not at all blended long layers like I originally asked. I hope more time and grace is taken for future clients as I now will be waiting a long time to have this grown to a length I feel comfortable to be again cut to blended and fix these mistakes. read more

I will not return. I agree with another post written by Beth here. Stephanie did a Brazilian Blowout on my hair a few days ago. She was pleasant. She said Salon Envy cannot guarantee their services unless I use their products to maintain it. Those products are up to $37/for small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, & a smoothing straightener for more day to day use. I declined to purchase these items as I've had the Brazilian done previously by Hannah & there was not an issue nor a statement regarding we cannot guarantee this service if you don't buy our products. The cashier had difficulty entering in my gift card and Groupon that I used. Phone call had to be made and three people were there to enter information that took about 5-8 minutes. No problem. They were all polite. The next morning I wash my hair (this past Tuesday) & it's noticeably frizzy towards the back. I call politely back to explain my concern & I booked an appointment with Stephanie for today to reassess. I couldn't come before today that would have been my ideal. Terri says she will see me instead when I walked in.. I explain to her what I typed above and I was shocked to hear the defensive responses I received (some were repetitive and below is not the exact order) 1. "Your hair is beautiful the way it is and it has nice wave the Brazilian will not straighten your hair". I explained I understood that and have no concerns about the wave of my hair--I never mentioned that. 2. I ask why did Hannah do it last time without me buying the salons products and what was different. She says she doesn't know why and she wasn't here. I didn't say anything back, but she actually was there, because Hannah had asked her if the Keratin Groupon I bought could be used for Brazilian and she said no so I had to pay out of pocket, which was a whole thing in itself--thankfully after several weeks I got a refund from Groupon. Interestingly enough this time I got a Keratin Groupon, because they told me on the phone they would take it and did. 3. Terri stated the product does not guarantee 100% removal of frizz. Interesting I was never told that nor is it on the Groupon. Never had it happen before..but I don't know that much about it. 4. we can't guarantee our services unless you use our products because other products can strip the product we use" I bought in the shampoo bottle I use at their request and within literally 5 seconds of looking at it I get this statement multiple times. I don't know enough about chemicals, but I do use a Keratin infusing / sulfate free shampoo. Interesting that after 1 wash this got stripped to where a chunk of a part of my hair is frizzy... 5. " I don't see a need to redo it we are all trained here in this". 6. I was asked when I washed my hair and what I've done to it. I explained I washed my hair last night and have left it natural to show the frizz (aka not straightening it, etc) and I was told "it's because you slept on it". So that response makes me wonder if she did see frizz since she said "because you slept on it" ..because if there wasn't frizz this wouldn't have been a response is my perception. I found this to be an interesting response. So sleeping on your hair suddenly makes hair frizzy on a part of your head within 24 hours is what I heard...very interesting. I worked with Stephanie who did a great job- informed me of what she was doing and products that she was using. My blowout was perfect! Be Aware of the Fraud!!, and NEVER trust them with your credit card; I got a coupon from groupon, I called to schedule the appointment, and the lady asked me for the credit card, I said I already have a coupon, she said it's just for the appointment and I should get the charges refunded once I am done, I said that's fine and I gave her the card information she charged me $75, I called before the appointment and asked for rescheduling and lady mentioned nothing about rescheduling fee, the stylist was fine, they offered me some products to maintain hair quality for excessive prices but you won't have time to think for an alternative, I was charged that day including the coupons over $300, and now I have an additional two transactions for $75 and guess what!! they were not refunded, I called them and they said I didn't respect the stylist time for the first time and that will cost me $75 seriously!!+ another $75 transaction I am not sure what was that for!!, That's a fraud, I am disputing the transaction right now and I hope that get them back. Recently had my hair washed and trimmed, now when I say trimmed it was a chop job... I specifically showed the person how much to cut after she washed my hair in the worst manner I ever experienced... washing the crown of someones head with very hot, did I say hot? yes very HOT water in a fast circular barely touching the scalp motion... then barely rinsing the soap to follow with hardly any conditioner then HOT water rinsing, proceeded by not even putting my drenched hair in a towel and saying "when your ready come over to the chair" my sweater and bra was soaked!!! The idiot cut 8" off and I showed her barely 2" I specified "only a trim" To make matters worse she's the owner of this place! I never leave negative reviews but this was warranted. I got my hair done a few weeks ago and I walked into this salon wanting to do something special for my birthday. Scott was available and the website states he has 30 years of experience doing hair so I trusted this salon with my hair. My hair is long and very thick which I understand makes the stylist's job a little harder, but before moving forward with coloring I asked Scott if my hair was going to be all ONE color as my roots were dirty blonde and my hair was strawberry blonde, and he said YES, it will be one color. I also asked for an inch of the dead ends to be cut off, bangs, and a style. I showed him a reference photo. He started with leaving the color in the roots for a while and then the rest of my hair. Apparently I guess it's normal to book other appointments and have the hairdresser do two people at once but I felt like the color on the roots were left in far too long. When I mentioned bangs again I was told "we'll see what it looks like when it's styled". The reference photo has hair styled with a curling iron which he didn't want to do because he said my hair was too heavy. The final result was definitely not what I asked for. He ended up cutting almost five inches off which really bothers me. I left with no bangs, not the style I wanted, and the real reason why I'm leaving this review, DARK red roots and then ginger hair. When I mentioned that the colors were very different, I was told it would blend once I wash it a few times and that it was "ombré". I never asked for ombré but ok, and this was not ombré. This was my roots look awful but now it's 5pm and I have places to be for my birthday. The price came out to $215. I was told the color would start at $100 and the haircut and style was $50 but because of my hair type and extra bowls, it came to $215. I've been coloring my hair for 15 years and I've never paid that much. I looked on Groupon but none applied to all over color so they gave me a 20% discount for being a new client, which was nice, and I still tipped Scott 20% before the discount. A few days later I went back into the salon before washing my hair and expressed my concerns with the two tones, especially when my hair is pulled back because the difference in the color is horrible. I was told again to wash it. I then went back to the salon after washing it a few times and was told to set up another consultation that I "maybe" needed to pay more for. So now I'm going back to the salon for the fourth time, and Scott was very rude to me. He was trying to get my hair out of my hair tie and said OH MY GOD and I took my own hair out and he walked away and finished his clients hair and proceeded to ignore me as the manager came over and looked at my hair. She told me I would have to do all over color again and even did a test strand for my hair which I saw close to no difference. Other stylists came over as well and told me that sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get a final result. I NEVER have gotten my hair colored needing to come back again...They wanted to charge me another $80 to color correct it and that I would need to go darker. When I expressed concerns about paying more when I believe it should have been done the right the first time, I was told I am still using their products and services so there was no way around not paying that. I was in the salon for 45 mins going back and forth and I said I will have to think about and call back. Unfortunately I just don't think spending now almost $300 on my hair is worth it. I spoke with the manager on the phone for 10 minutes today and she was defensive and offered me no real resolution other than paying more money and I asked for a partial refund and I was told they won't give things out for free. Great experience! On my first trip, I got a Baylage done. Terri and Bryanna were extremely nice and so was their receptionist. They offered me beverages and even had some cookies on site! Unfortunately, my hair came out much lighter and uneven than I wanted. After I went home I called in the next day and they took me right in that afternoon. When I came in I explained and they understood. They redid my hair free of charge (hair did not take toner and left my hair too light). They were very understanding and very nice! I called to inquire about the Brazilian Blowout & was extremely impressed by Erica who answered the phone. She knew all about the product & answered all my questions patiently. Very disappointed with my last experience. The high turnover in staff is a red flag. I went for a dye job. The dye job didn't fully cover my greys in the front top. Instead of graciously reassuring a repeat customer that it will be corrected, the owner Terry coldly gave a tutorial and stuck up for her inexperienced staff. It's common sense that even if it's a touch up, grey hair shouldn't be visible. I would have paid for extra dye. All in all, the job should have been done right from the start. A customer should feel satisfied. She obviously didn't want to fix the job, I left and didn't bother to debate because I don't need extra stress in my life. There are plenty of better and more professional salons in the area which I am happy to give my money who will do a better job. FYI- I didn't bother getting my hair cut there because I didn't get a good feel for the staff as good hair cutters. Terry gave me once such a poor outdated layers in the past and cut too much in the back that it looked like a duck that I didn't trust anyone there to give me a decent hair cut but decided to go for my usual dye. They use to be my favorite and i recommended them to so many people however after multiple disappointments, I would Highly recommend to anyone to switch to Lynx Hair Lounge which is also located in Hillsborough! I went to Salon Envy (which was my regular) toget an estimate on a certain hair coloring and request who i would like to do my hair, they told me $90 and made me an appointment with the person whom in my opinion does the best work which is Jadelyn. When i went there on the day of my appointment, apparently Jadelyn had called off but no one in the salon had called to let me know. They sent me with some other girl and I specifically told her to make me hair look just like the picture and she ensured me that she was able to, the finished hair looked NOTHING like the picture. The picture was completely ash, and my hair was practically golden. It was said to "go more with my eyes", And the total she have me was $155.00! My hair is ABOVE my shoulders! That was such BS!!! Terrible costumer service and they have a tendency to tell YOU what to do with YOUR hair rather than just doing what you ask. Even for my Senior Prom , I asked for some type of half up half down up do but to make sure some type of hair was in my face because I have insecure issues about that, The girl was making a nice bump and I reminded her, Dont forget to leave hair in my face multiple times. She kept telling me just wait until the end and we'll pull it out over and over again, well when the end came, she had the audacity to say, "Well its your senior prom, who would want to cover their own face?" Over the last 6 months there have been at least 3 good hairdressers that left suddenly in this business. However business does happen so I scheduled an appt with a new hairdresser for a certain time three days after making the appointment. Well I arrive there on time and they tell me no they scheduled me for a 1/2 hr after the time i was told AND they switched me to a hairdresser that did not do a good job on my hair before WITHOUT calling me first. This is not the first or second time there has been a "Bait and Switch" of making the appointment with one hairdresser and then i show up to find out they switched me for another hairdresser without notifying me. This has happened with other members of my family. This visit they offered no other options and were not appreciative of the fact that i also had a tight schedule. I was HIGHLY dissatisfied with their service, and even the owner only showed mild interest at this clearly unacceptable but frequently repeated problem before she wandered away again. We gave them multiple tries as we always appreciate supporting a new business, but there is clearly no effort towards customers put out by the owner or staff. We will NOT be returning to this salon and we encourage any people going to try them to be aware of what may happen. They will NOT care if you are unhappy with their poor practices. read more

My daughter went for highlights and a haircut today. As the stylist was doing the highlights, my daughter said she felt her head getting really hot and touched one of the foils. She mentioned to the stylist that the foil was really hot and the stylist started ripping the foils out and ran her hair under cold water. After my daughter got home, I noticed that her scalp was burnt. I called the salon and the manager, Terri, called me back. I told her what happened and she told me that I should take my daughter to the doctor and when someone gets highlights nothing touches the scalp. I told her that I was not satisfied with her response and that i was going to provide a review on facebook. At that point she took extreme exception and was aggressive. I ended the call. Terri called back moments later and threatened that I was being slanderous by writing a reivew. She then accused me of slander and said that I would be contacted by her lawyer husband and police would show up at my house. We got off the call and she continued to contact us. Be advised that this is how you could be treated at this establishment. Very poor customer service. read more
