Decided last minute one morning on cutting my long hair short. My former salon is no longer in business, so I asked ChatGPT for local recommendations. Sweeney Todd came up as having solid reviews and fair pricing. And what a great name for a salon! I was able to get a same day appointment at a time that was super convenient to me. The salon is clean, airy, and contemporary. I was immediately greeted. I wish I had gotten the woman's name who greeted me and cut my hair - she was welcoming and skilled and completed the cut with exactly what I waned and in good time for only $22 (plus tip). Looks like I found my new salon. read more

I was extremely hesitant to try a new salon due to previous experiences but I am glad I gave this place a try! I went to Meghan, recommended by my cousin who has been going to this salon for years. For my first time, I made an easy appt online and requested for a cut, blowout, the whole deal. My service was quick, smooth, clean and I loved the way my hair felt afterwards. I am close to the area and glad I have a go-to neighborhood spot for a trustworthy cut! Thank you Meghan! read more

I've been going to this salon for haircuts for a few months now and can't believe I didn't find this place earlier. Taylor's haircuts are so beautiful that I decided to let her give me a balayage too- and I'm glad I did! She worked so hard to get the color exactly how I wanted it and was so patient with me. I would definitely recommend! read more

I have been going here for a long time and never had a bad cut. Everyone there is nice and it feels more like family.

I came here for a simple haircut. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the price is very reasonable! ($14 for my long hair) The hair stylist Deanna did exactly what I want so I am very satisfied:) Will definitely come back! read more

Sweeney Todd Hair Piscataway - The outside of the store - Hair Salons Near Me - Piscataway, New Jersey

Nice atmosphere but I asked for my hair to be cut below my armpits and it ended up being above my shoulders. Super dissatisfied.

While my experience last week was disappointing in every way, today I went in to see Megan who offered to fix it at no extra cost and she was INCREDIBLE. If you go, ask for Megan specifically, she is phenomenal. She made sure I was happy with the color and did all kinds of things to restore my hair's strength and health. She also gave me the cutest haircut I've had in years. I was sobbing after my appt last week but tonight I can't stop touching my hair and taking pictures!!! read more

Today I went for a haircut and the hair dresser seemed to be very busy as I asked her to do a blow-dry ahe said I am very busy can't do it ... Very unprofessional I felt I had a very good experience with Kelly but she doesn't work on weekends so had no choice and if you call and take an appointment it's their duty to satiy the client completely...I was not happy with my experience this time. read more

I am new in town and really needed a haircut. This place is cute and very clean. Kelly cut my hair and was very friendly. I like the prices and they are very personable. It is not fancy but you do feel like you are being listened to. I am satisfied and will be going back. read more

I was very hesitant to try a new hair salon, but I do not regret coming here one bit! They were able to fit me into their schedule on such short notice. Granted, it was a bit of a wait, but I didn't have any complaints. Deanna is amazing and actually listened to what I wanted. I wanted to cut my hair a bit shorter, but I'm glad she shared her input as well and suggested that I keep it at collarbone length so that I could still pull it into a ponytail for the summer. She didn't force her opinion on me, but merely shared a personal experience with her decision against super short hair. I ended up getting a wash, cut, and blow-dry all for only $35 (as opposed to the usual $50 I spend at my normal salon). After the blow-dry, my hair looked fabulous, and I got numerous compliments. Deanna also took some time to show me which products would be best for my hair. If you're gonna book an appointment here, definitely ask for Deanna! read more

I love the a la carte pricing. A haircut is just $15 and they won't blowdry and style it unless I actually want them to. Unfortunately, the stylist who cut my hair was not friendly (didn't say a word to me once she started cutting) and did a terrible job. UPDATE: I went back and had a senior stylist (their rates are a little bit higher) give me highlights and a cut and she did a wonderful job! She was friendly and honest. Gave me her opinion but respected mine. And everything turned out amazing! UPDATE: I have gone back several times now (mainly for highlights) and found another employee there who is just as good as the senior designer! (The senior designers cost a little more). But both of these girls were very friendly and chatty (but not too much) and did an excellent job on my hair! For the price, I won't go anywhere else! Oh and they also have awesome hours. I have since increased my review to four stars because I only had that one bad experience with a specific hair stylist and I have not seen her there since. I also wanted to respond to Kisa below. When I first went for highlights there, I told the senior designer that I wanted red and I picked out the color. She informed me that red highlights on my hair would fade fast and that blonde would work better. While I knew what she was saying, I was not interested in blonde highlights. I did have to be more assertive than I should have been but I was firm on my decision and told her that I definitely wanted red. Well, when the highlights came out, she thought they were perfect! And i loved them too. So, while I do sort of agree that they might try to pressure you into something they want -- it's your hair, you make the final decision. read more

Love Sweeny Todd. Been going for many years. I see Kelly and I think she is the best. Would highly recommend.

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing Megan is. She's delightful and does a perfect job! I really highly recommend!!

Would definitely recommend this place! I have been going to Deanna since the salon relocated. She has colored, styled, and cut my hair and I have never left disappointed! She is friendly, patient, and thorough- which is so important bc I am extremely indecisive! read more

Love this place. Although at a new location, been going since i was 9 years old. These ladies are wonderful, talented, and sweet. Megan, kelley (kelly), and stacey stacey have done my hair and they are all phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for a great cut and beautiful color. Would love to give this salon 20 stars. read more

I have easy hair to cut, so I usually just look for the cheapest place around. You can't beat the price here. Additionally, the salon is always clean and they always get me right in, even without an appointment. The women who work here are super friendly too!! read more

This may have been the worst hair cut experience I've ever had. The women there seem to have an attitude and the girl that cut my hair relentlessly talked my ear off. Since she was too busy hearing herself talk, I don't think she listened to what I was asking to have done. I wanted my hair at shoulder length and she cut it nearly two inches higher and made the back shorter than the front and uneven. I was really upset when I got home and I saw how bad it was and had to have another hairdresser fix the bad cut; whom I now use as my regular. This place is a total waste of time and money. Safe to say I will never, ever go back to Sweeney Todd. read more

Zero stars. Worst hair cut place ever! Instead of admitting they didn't know how to achieve the style I wanted, they chose to cut it wrong and then try to explain to me that the way they cut it is actually the way I wanted it. I'm pissed! They butchered my hair the last time I went there and I decided to give them another shot with a different stylist and I guess that's my bad because I hate my haircut again. Don't go here for men's cuts read more

Small, cozy place. Oversall so-so experience. Pros: Short wait with appointment PRICE Somewhat friendly, did not make unnecessary fake small talk Cons: Refused to take 5 mins to blow-dry my hair because she did not have time...that's just bad business. Did a poor job of shampoo/rinse (spent like 30s...I had to ask her if there was still soap in my hair) I asked her for hair advice. She responded politely but only gave short, direct answers. Wasn't very helpful. My haircuts have def looked better. It's not terrible but I'm not thrilled either. I'd be pissed if it weren't so cheap. read more

I got Taylor and she was great. She was patient and listened to what I wanted. I was a little nervous because I've never been there before but I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be going back. Also, can't beat their prices! read more

I have been here a few times. The 1st chair hairdresser is good but she has regular clients and has never taken me, with or without appointment. The girl on 2nd chair is ok. I go to her for basic trims 2-3 times a year because she does the job and you can't beat the prices. My bangs, which are trimmed regularly, are trusted upon someone else. read more

Usually I always go to the one down the street from me in milltown always great haircuts and always have promotions and accept any coupons I got a coupon for this one for this one and they wouldn't accept it! They said it was from shoprite and I needed the receipt went to my regular one showed them my phone and the print out and they accepted it don't even waste your time going to this one, it's obvious there is no professional curtesy. I rather use the coupon and use the difference to give to the stylist I see why there were one 2 people in there and the other one was packed I have a appointment for 3 with them the one in milltown is the best. Not to mention the way the spoke to me was as if I presented them some fake coupon what's the deal with that super rude, was reading other reviews about the cuts themselves who knows what kind of pride they may even take on their work if they care that much about money. Really bad business move though lose a lot more money in the long run doing business like that. For anyone thinking about going to Sweeney Todd go to the one in milltown they are much more polite and are always busy must be a reason why they are. read more

I recently moved to the area and needed a good place to get my hair cut. The hair cuts were decent and reasonably priced. I figured I would give them a try for highlights and was extremely disappointed. The stylist was raving about a new brightener they had just received and decided to use it on me. Bad choice-she used me as her guinea pig and the results were awful! I had to leave town for a few weeks so couldn't immediately get back into the salon. When I called a few weeks later to have someone fix the "bride of Frankenstein" streaks she had put up the side of my head, I was informed that a week had past and they would not fix their mistake. I was encouraged to book another appointment and pay full price for someone to give me more bad highlights versus fix their own horrible work. This is not only unprofessional but completely unacceptable. Ladies steer clear of Sweeney Todd's in Piscataway unless you want to look like a freak. read more

When I went there in past and paid more for a Sr. stylist, I had a decent hair cut. I started getting email with coupons or half off haircut so I made an appointment and went there. In my rush to get there on time, I forgot my coupon and told the girl as soon as I realized it while signing-in the front desk. The person was not so friendly and would not honor the half off coupon rate. I was told with attitude that it clearly says that you must have the coupon in order to get the $7 off. In these days where many salons take competitors and/or expired coupons, I thought it's bad business on the salon's end that they would not honor the half off and let a customer walk away when you a free stylist ...... They just lost a customer - I won't be going back - coupon or not..... read more

Would not recommend this place because of how unfriendly the employees are - I went in there for a trim and the woman who cut my hair (she has short purple hair) rolled her eyes at me when I asked for 1/4 inch off and made me feel worse about my damaged hair (my hair is damaged because it was bleached. It was bleached at Sweeney Todd). I will not be going back. read more

Nikki cut my hair. She was in training (so no charge) but you wouldn't know because she actually did a wonderful job. Nice place, clean, and they kept my appointment time. If you give your address and email they will also send you coupons and specials. Definitely recommend. read more

I experienced a new hair salon on Saturday - Sweeney Todd Haircutters in South Plainfield. I had an appt and came a little early and was taken right away. I went with a new hair stylist, Chrissy and she did a fabulous job!!! I was going in for just a hair color and through conversation, got some highlights too! I received so many compliments. I would recommend this salon and this new hair stylist Chrissy!! 5 Stars ***** read more

I went today and aside from it being a bit stuffy inside (the AC was broken), it was a perfectly fine cut. I just got my ends trimmed off, but the woman who did it (didn't catch her name, but she was tanned and had long red/black hair) was polite and knew what she was doing. The price is great as well. Can't really beat that. read more

The shop has a new stylist that I have followed for years and will continue to do so. She is great! Name is Chrissy. Shes been featured in the N.J. Bride Magazine for her updos and hair cuts. You wont be disappointed, give her a try! read more

not a good place to go if you want a satisfying haircut. either they cut it uneven (one side longer than the other) or they wont listen to how you want it. they always do it differently than you ask for. i wont be going to sweeney todd anymore ive had enough of them read more

I needed a haircut and I passed by this place. I am hispanic and saw a sign that said se habla espanol on the window so I went in figuring they had hispanic stylists...at least one. They didn t ...just white trash. They looked at eachother with a look of dread to decide who was going to have to cut my hair (which is shoulder length and wavy). They decided on a girl shaped like humpty dumpty with some kind of orange hair whose breath smelled like cigarettes. She was ugly. I didn t know how to exit. I was trapped. She did a lousy job shampooing my hair and started to make faces when she put a comb through my hair...like, ewww...cooties. I said I had to go because I was afraid it was going to take too long. They charged me $10 for a shampoo and a conditioner without dryer. The girl tried to lie and say the shampoo was $7 but the only halfway normal one corrected her...I could find out, after all. I left with wet hair. Don t ever go here if you are not white trash. They should remove the 'se habla espanol' sign and put up a Confederate flag as a heads up :-) I posted this on yahoo local and another reviewer had written that they cut her hair uneven. Her avatar looked like a brown person. I said they probably did it on purpose. Trust me, I am not exaggerating. Don't give them your money to treat you badly and mess up your hair! read more
