I used a Groupon. I've been using Groupon since back when you had to print them out. There's always fine print and usually you can't use most salon Groupons more than once or as an existing client. With that said Maria was really nice & was able to give me exactly what I asked for. I have longer hair with layers and not everybody cuts it right. Also with my color too, I've seen people offer a shade that's too dark thinking my hair is the lightest black instead of the darkest brown. She knew right away what color I needed when I told her to match the ends. I was very happy with the service, it was a friendly clean environment, and yes I had to pay $10 extra because my hair naturally sits right above my elbows. Nonetheless I got exactly what I paid for and tipped based on the price before the discount, and if I were to call any other salon to ask for the same thing I would have easily dropped over a $100 + extra for longer hair. read more

I went to Laura again to cut my bangs, and they weren't too short or too long. They have great but Laura is by far the best. Hands down the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Purchased a Groupon and had an appointment with Maria. She was superficially friendly but I don't think she actually put much effort or really cared about my hair. I asked for a certain style then asked her thoughts about if she thought it would look nice -- to which her response was "it's up to you." Uh.. okay, thanks. Not helpful, but fine. She starts cutting my hair and my thoughts are: 1. She is cutting way too much. 2. Hmm maybe I should just trust the process. 3. Why is she cutting different layers of my hair in a straight line.. ???? Is this how she layers? 4. Maybe she'll fix it after the blow dry. 5. Okay never mind I guess we're done? 6. (On first inspection after the blow dry) I guess it looks okay. 7. (At home) there are hair strands on the right that are at least an 0.5inch shorter than the left.. she didn't even try to look for missed strands that are longer than the rest. I'm writing this review just after having to cut a section of stray hair that was missed. A part of me wants to complain and have them fixed this. And another part of me wants to just go to another salon and pay for them to fix the damage. Honestly might just do the latter. Don't think I can ever go back. Truly awful. read more

I got a Groupon for Salon NV for $38 deep conditioning, hair cut and blow out (not bad). I had my appointment with Maria and I was really not anticipating much since I wanted to get a routine haircut to make my ends healthy. I go in and the salon is hard to find - there is no sign or indicator of its location within the plaza. However, after walking past it a couple of times I finally found it and walked in. Maria was nice and greeted me at the door and walked me to the back to get my hair washed. As I was getting my hair conditioned, I noticed that the salon had a late 90s vibe to it - the Paul Mitchell video playing on the tv (bigger tv that you would find back in the 90s) definitely looked retro and the overall design of the mirrors was also very 90s-esque. Not a big deal to me but definitely different from the other salons I've been to. Maria was nice and very informative however she ended up taking more of my hair off than I wanted - even though she told me what would be a healthy length (what she ended up cutting) and what I wanted (an inch or so below what she cut). Now I had nowhere special to go so I was ok with this since I know it'll grow out by thanksgiving / Christmas BUT I don't know if you should go right before a special event. I asked her not to cut it short and she responded with "the length is the length" which I thought indicated the length I wanted. Wasn't a huge fan of my blow out either - there was just no style to it. In any case, when I went to pay they charged me an extra $10 for the length of my hair which when I called the day before, they said was for hair 15 inches or longer. That struck me as weird since I don't think my hair was that long but I didn't argue it. Overall I gave three stars because it was pretty standard for the price I paid on Groupon and Maria was nice. After finding a Groupon deal for haircut and conditioning treatment, my mom and I started coming here for all our hair needs. Unfortunately, our favorite hair stylist moved out of state, BUT we've both gave other stylists a try for layered haircuts and loved the results! Due to that, I trusted them on the day of my bridal shower. I made an 830am appointment with a stylist I hadn't been with before (I know, I know...) But in my defense, all I wanted was a simple wash and blow out - anyone could do that, right? My hairstylist didn't get to me until 915 then he decided to give me curls instead of the blowout I came in for. He wouldn't let me look in the mirror because he wanted it to be a surprise, but I kept telling him I'm going for a very natural look because I don't like the way curls look on me since I could tell that he was not adhering to what I was asking for. He finally revealed my hair - tight waves. I hated it. I told him no, no, no - I wanted a natural looking blowout. He tried fixing it, but there was no going back due to the time constraint. It was 10:30 and my bridal shower was at 11 and my make up wasn't even done yet. I know he meant well and he did apologize, but unfortunately after this experience I would not come back. I scheduled an appointment originally the day before the date of service with Maria, but they canceled my appointment because there was an emergency. They offered a next-day appointment with another stylist. Let me start by saying that I brought a Groupon and I was in desperate need of a haircut. I have A LOT of hair, it is long and thick. And the fine print states 10 dollars extra for long hair. Totally understandable. 2nd, the receptionist at the salon was extremely warm, accommodating, and professional. 3rd, I was late 10 minutes to my appointment and walked in apologizing for my tardiness. 4th overall, the haircut was done well, and the blowout was perfect, thanks to the receptionist who did a patient and amazing job. That being said I feel I must communicate my honest experience with my stylist Tara. I walked in, the receptionist greeted me. After apologizing for my 10-minute lateness, I was informed that Tara wouldn't be drying my hair since the 10-minute delay was cutting into another chemical appointment. She also told the receptionist that she doesn't do Groupons? She never introduced herself or asked for my name. I just saw her annoyance in my lateness and took me to the wash area. She walked quickly in front of me. Where I also noticed her contempt in the intensity of the shampoo scrub. Never asked if the water temperature was ok. Just uncomfortable silence. Upon completion, my hair was still dripping wet and I asked her for a towel since my clothes were getting wet. The haircut: The cut was great! She gave me exactly what I asked for. 4 inches of the length and defined long layers to remove the bulk. She made a decent attempt at small talk. Hair still being wet, I was taken to have a deep conditioning treatment put in. It would have been nice to know the product name, as an advertising plug-in. But ok, I understand she had another client. She tried to put my hair in a cap to sit under the dryer but still felt the dripping water down my back. But I felt the unapproachable silence so I just went with it. She made me a coffee while I sat under the dryer with the treatment for 15 minutes. Thanks? The kind receptionist checked in with me to let me know she will be coming back to do my blow dry. Blow-dry: the receptionist was awesome, warm friendly, and accommodating. She took her time and she appeared to have a lot of pride in her work and work ethic. She sectioned my hair nicely and I left with dry and styled hair. Perfect. My only observation and question: why did Tara feel uncomfortable doing the blow-dry since she was sitting in her own chair the entire time my hair was getting blown out. Never checked in to see if I was ok with the cut. It was like I was passed on like a buck. Recommendations to the salon owner or manager: please let people know which stylist doesn't do Groupon at the time of scheduling. This will definitely minimize this awkward experience. Friendly communication with your client will go a long way. Don't show your contempt to a client. Negativenonverbal body language shouldn't overshadow an experience. You are selling an overall experience, hopefully, a returning client on top of a salon service. A Groupon client is still a paying client. It's a great way to build a client base and build your business. Not a charity case or event. Promote or give the receptionist a raise. She demonstrated amazing problem-solving skills and professionalism. I am still on the fence about returning for a full-price service. Hopefully, this type of feedback is used to improve the way the salon staff interacts with clients. I am not sure why they would use a Groupon introductory offer if they want to provide a "watered down," service. Had a great cut and color from an awesome stylist! I have lived in the area for many years and can't believe I had never gone to this amazing salon! I definitely recommend it. All of the stuff were very pleasant and friendly. I called and spoke to Renee, telling her I had a Groupon. She said that only some of her stylists accept Groupons, but that was a personal preference on their part - that it did not reflect on their skill level. I'm not sure how long Salon NV has been here. I'm fairly new to it - I followed my hair stylist, Trina, here after she was forced to close her own shop. Trina has been cutting my hair for years, and she is the only one who knows how to cut it. I now spend a good part of the year way across the country, but know that when I return I will be getting a great cut, and she will get to fix the messes that are created by the succession of so-called stylists I've had to try when I've been away too long. The salon is somewhat upscale, but without the pretension and the exorbitant prices that similar ones might charge. It's large and pretty and comfortable, and offers a variety of services. It's located in the former Stop and Shop center, which now houses SteinMart in that spot. Try Salon NV, and especially, Trina. This is my family's go to place for haircuts. I've been going to Judy for many years now and I won't go to anyone else! She knows my thick, wavy hair and always gives me the best cut. My son is also extremely picky with who cuts his hair and after years of trying to find someone he likes he now goes to Jeff. He goes to college 6 hours away and still comes home to see Jeff for a cut. This salon is a part of the community and you will see clients who are treated like family. I'm fairly new to the area and I will definitely be back and ask for her every time! Extremely talented staff and they don't pressure you to buy any of the products. If you have long hair I'd suggest also getting the two step deep conditioning treatment. You'll leave with crazy soft and shiny hair. Took off one star for price.
