I've definitely experienced better service elsewhere. This place might look like it offers everything, but the quality doesn't match the image. The blow-dry I received was mediocre and didn't last at all -- you can see in the attached photo that it just fell frizzy and uneven. The stylist also ruined my balayage color while touching up the roots. I had only asked for a trim, but she ended up cutting off all my layers and giving me a very average style. Having gone to some of the best salons in NYC, I can say this place is far from professional -- it's mediocre at best and lacks quality. To make things worse, the stylist next to me was extremely rude. While blow-drying his client's hair, he blew all the cut hair right onto me (disgusting!), and even pushed my stylist aside at one point -- causing her to stumble into me. Completely unacceptable behavior. This salon may look high-end with all the branded products on display, but it operates more like a noisy barber shop. I won't be coming back -- the atmosphere is toxic, and it's impossible to relax or feel pampered here. Please save your money from here. I came in for a balayage and haircut, they bleached my whole head, ruined my curl pattern, and made me pay $400. Three different people worked on my hair. The Second Lady cut off so much of my hair and was rushing it. My hair used to be long brown and healthy curls. I looked so awful when I left and all the hair people couldn't even hide their reaction and lied to my face saying it looked great. Please save your money, they don't know what they are doing. They only gave me a partial refund and to this day I'm still trying to get my hair back to what it was. Studio One60 fixed my hair the same day casa aziz ruined it. I left crying from casa aziz. Where to start. Disorganized receptionists that can't seem to focus and double book-- but then act like this is not a big deal when you show up to your appointment and they can't fit you. The owner seems to think his clients are incapable of realizing when he makes mistakes (he likes to try to convince you that his missteps are better than what you actually requested). The receptionists are very rude. I went early for an appointment and waited till my time was up. Then I asked the receptionist how long I would have to wait ( very calmly) and she yelled at me saying just because you are early does not mean you get seen plus it's only been 2 minutes beyond your appointment time. When I called from the street to cancel, they still didn't owe up to it and said that ' hair cutting isn't an exact science, just because it's your appointment time doesn't mean the stylist will be available at that time'. I don't write many reviews, but this time I had to. Whatever you do, don't go to Mahir! I went in for partial highlights and walked out with uneven brassy orange hair. This is from someone who calls himself a master stylist! I told Mahir that my hair has a tendency to turn orange when highlighting and I did not want orange highlights and wanted more ashy brown highlights. The below picture was taken the day after I got highlights. Not once did he tell me he wouldn't be able to make my hair ashy brown. If he had told me he couldn't do it, I wouldn't have gotten highlights. He also didn't tell me he was instead giving me a full head of balayage and it would cost $500. This is $200 more than what I was told by the front desk when I made the appointment. Again, if he had told me that, I wouldn't have agreed to it. It seems Mahir is more interested in milking his clients for more money. I can't believe I paid $500 for brassy orange highlights! I specifically wanted a Master Stylist so my hair wouldn't end up like this. What I got instead was something I could have done myself at home. It's that bad. I also showed him twice a picture of the haircut I wanted, including once right before he started cutting my hair. I told him I wanted the exact length as in the picture, which was mid chest in the front. Instead, he cut my hair just below my shoulder in the front, 4 inches shorter than what I wanted. 4 inches shorter is a lot when you're cutting hair! What makes it even worse is that he left my appointment early to tend to another client and had a very junior intern, who had no experience and didn't know what he was doing, finish my appointment. I can't believe I spent $500 for a junior intern to finish my Master Stylist appointment. The service you expect from a Master Stylist is certainly not this! I have been a very long time client of this salon but this experience was disappointment after disappointment. Mahir is very close to the salon owner, so I doubt anything will come out of this, but I would advise you to stay away from Mahir. P.S. I called the salon a few days before posting this review to see what they could do about the color mistake. They took my phone number and said they would call back in a minute. They never called me back. A salon that can't own up to its mistakes is not a place you want to go to. read more

Well. I came in for a haircut, cut about 6 inches of my hair off. When I left here I left loving my hair. It was styled beautifully. However once I got home and showered I realized two things. I could never style my hair that way again on my own and it wasn't at all the cut I asked for. For reference, pictures of what I asked for vs. what I got. I didn't want any short layers and even requested not to have any short layers, and I have short cheek bone length layers around my whole head now. I'm now stuck with a short haircut that was completely freestyled despite my wishes and that I do not have the skills to style daily in a way that's pleasing to me. read more

Two bad experiences with balayage on medium brown hair. I had my hair colored here 3 times and saw 3 senior colorists ( because of multiple ppl needing to fix the color) The first time, I had to return twice in order to correct problems with the initial balayage. The second time went fine. The third time ( just recently), I left after 3 hours with a clear highlight demarcation, orange around the top of my head, and white blonde at the bottom. I returned to fix it and the owner toned it at improved dramatically. After getting in my car and seeing the natural light on it, I could still see the orange. My face framing highlights are also too thick so I have an orange strip when I pull my hair back. It's really embarrassing. I emailed the salon photos and they asked me to return again to correct it. Keep in mind that this would be 3 times for this color, and 3 times for the first color. I told them I did not feel comfortable returning to a salon that had bungled the hair color that many times, damaging my long hair in the process. They refused to refund my money. I had to make an appt at another salon to fix it. I'll post pics so you can see for yourself. No one should spend hours of their life, $300-400, and come out with this result. It's possible they are better with blondes. My experience has been a disaster and I wish I never stepped foot in the salon. read more

C Master Stylist a picture of the Bob cut and it's nothing not even close to what I wanted. its so uneven and she was so rude to the young assistance that asked her a question. I had the dream team of Miguel and Effy for an updo and makeup last Saturday for my son's wedding. They were both so charming and kind, and the results were fantastic. They truly did some magic! Miguel regularly checked with me throughout the process to assure that I was happy with how my hair was looking and that it was comfortable. He also fixed my other son's GF's hair (she had come to the salon with me and had another hairstylist who was not as perceptive as Miguel). After the other stylist left, Miguel looked at her and could see she wasn't entirely happy, came over, and made it right. Effy is an amazing artist. My make up is generally just tinted sunscreen, eyebrow pencil and mascara - I needed a pro, and I got one. A week later, and I'm still getting compliments. And the pictures look great! The cut itself was extremely expensive, and the price will be hidden from you before the haircut and revealed at the moment of payment. Had a bad experience this weekend at the salon. I was in town for a family wedding and came in for an up do and make up. I left looking nothing like what I had asked for. I wanted a fishtail braid, bohemian vibe, chignon up do with soft tendrils and left with my hair plastered to my head- literally. So upsetting. Don't know who the updo would even look good on or which decade it would ever have been popular in. Just terrible. For my make up I asked for a sun kissed natural look and got layer upon layer of gold eyeshadow on my lids. The eyelashes that were applied didn't even last to the reception which was only four hours after I had left the salon. So upset because I spent a lot of money and am not happy about the look they gave me. Totally ruined my day and the family pictures for me. Worst service ever! I was charged $270 for NO color effect. (I've already told my classmates and friend that do not come to this place) I came for a single process for the dark blue color with a master stylist. I told her that I don't want to do lightening as it hurts hair. She understood and showed me sample effects, and I decided to go for it. After one hour's wait, I was told that it is done. But I CANNOT see any blue color (even under strong daylight). The manager and stylist told me that this is the expected effect. But neither of them told me that I will see no blue color after the service! Finally I was charged for $270 for this terrible experience. Made an appointment over a month and a half ago for a formal hair style for myself and blowout for my future MIL for my bridal shower. My formal style was booked far in advance and supposed to be with a master stylist. When I arrived I was set off with a different person than who I booked without being informed prior to my appointment via phone when they confirmed or when I arrived. After I searched their website I saw I was now with an associate stylist -- i went from booking with the highest level stylist to the most entry level. I booked with the master stylist because of my hair type (thick and curly) and the limited time I had prior to my bridal shower start. Not only did I have to direct how to style my hair from inspo photos (Kim K hair from wedding to Kanye) , but the curls looked horrible as well, AND I was late to my shower. It was beyond unprofessional and when I mentioned it to the salon, they didn't do anything to rectify the issue at hand. If you are thinking about going to this salon , think again and don't. read more

I took a detour from my usual go-to's of Cosmo Bleu and La Jolie, and it was worth it! My experience: The place: Small but well done. The shampoo station had a massage chair! The staff: Extremely pleasant and attentive from the moment I walked in. They offered me coffee, tea, or water immediately and throughout the cut. The haircut: Gina took care of my cut and style, and did a great job in a short amount of time - definitely comparable to the boutique salons I'd been going to in NYC. She took my ideas and added suggestions of her own. The price: $65 total for the shampoo, blow dry, cutting and relayering my long hair (I hadn't cut my hair in a while!), plus bangs! Yulia is probably my favorite stylist I've ever had! She's been cutting and styling my hair for over a year and I wouldn't go to anyone else (although there are many talented people at Casa Aziz)! Yulia does the most *amazing* scalp massages during the shampoo. Holy smokes I would go just for that. She is always helpful in suggesting cuts based on my needs. (For reference, I have thick, curly hair which can be a challenge.) When I got married abroad, Yulia did a hair trial with me to figure out what I wanted. She was so thoughtful in her suggestions, I was really touched by how much effort she put into preparing before I even came in! On top of that, she's just so nice and fun! I enjoy sitting in her chair!! The whole salon is great, cool atmosphere with lots of natural light. They use wonderful products that don't make my hair feel weighted down. Although I only went there for a cut, he convinced me into getting balayage. The last time I got it done at a different Princeton salon, they ruined my hair. I was so glad I allowed myself to get talked into it because Mahir did a fantastic job! He did not rush thru any of it even though it was well past their closing time. He is truly a master at his craft! I got a lot of compliments for the cut and color. So I went back again last week to get my hair cut, and was happy the 2nd time around too. I like the ambience of Casa Aziz. They're friendly. There's a choice of beverages and fruits. They're not double-booking themselves and rushing people out. UPDATE: The owner Aziz, called only to inform me that I shouldn't have posted a review. Moreover, he went into a verbal attack of how I should have emailed them when the stylist couldn't be reached over the phone. When asked if he could refund me part of the service amount as I didn't want to go get it fixed at their salon, he refused blatantly. The least one should get is good quality service worth their time and money. I asked for a long bob cut with more length in the front and a global color. It felt like even though she listened to me about what I wanted, she went ahead with her own styling. On her insistence, I agreed for a balayage and now I have these weird big blob of color patches on my hair that doesn't look shaded. And instead of a long bob, I have this short bob chopped off!
