My family enjoyed a great meal here. The service was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and felt very comfortable. We had the bruschetta, chicken parmesan, sangria, wine, and the steak special. All food was 8.5-9.5/10 on a scale. The only downside was that we either should have asked what the price for the steak special was, or we would have appreciated if there would have been a pricing listed next to the special somewhere- it was $45. We assumed it would have been $20-35 range. I also felt that my sangria was pricey for it being a small size and it was also listed as a special. However we had a wonderful experience and we will be back for sure. We would give it 4.5/5 stars. read more

Visited FANATICO with my two brothers on Tues. Aug. 11, 2020. VERY charming Family Owned Restaurant in downtown Whitewater, WI. Ashley our server was knowledgeable and helpful recommending several appetizers and entrees. We ordered the fried calamari. Excellent! Lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana and a side order of Linguine with red sauce. OUTSTANDING!!! Eggplant lightly breaded and slightly thin cut. House "gravy" was Great! Did not have dessert, but coffee was brewed fresh for us. Benny "The Owner" stopped by a couple of times to chat and check on our food and service. I've never written a Yelp review, but the excellence that is Fanatico prompted me to break my silence in praise of the experience I had there last night. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting. Even though the house was nearly full, the atmosphere stayed quiet and didn't feel crowded in the least. The staff was warm, attentive, and accommodating to all of our needs. The Wine Wednesday selections are a good value and paired nicely with our food. Now for the food: I will start off by saying that I have very high standards for food, and probably haven't given any reviews because I don't find many restaurants to be worthy of praise. This is exactly the opposite of Fanatico. The chicken breast was actually cooked to perfection (165F and not a degree over!) It was moist and tender, and served with the perfect amount of sauce. Everything tasted balanced and fresh. The penne a la vodka served on the side was a good companion to the chicken, fresh breadsticks, and small salad that came with the meal. The portions were generous but not overwhelming, and for under 15 bucks it was an amazing deal. My only regret was not having room for dessert. As I'm just travelling through I doubt I'll have a chance to return, but maybe someday I'll go back and try the tiramisu. I recommend anyone looking for a good meal stop by Fanatico and see for yourself. read more

Sunday evening is tough for a date night. Some good places are closed but we were lucky to find this gem in downtown Whitewater. On a cold blustery Sunday evening we were greeted with a warm welcome and seated in comfortable booth near the front windows that was decorated for the holiday season. The menu wasn't huge but had quite a variety of Italian dishes. I had a dish off the day's special menu. A delicious leg of lamb with a tomato purée and potato wedges. My wife had a delicious plate of Pasta Puttanesca that was properly spicy and flavorful with two large meatballs that would make mama proud. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The atmosphere was comfortable and cozy. Especially having the place to ourselves for part of the evening, it made for a romantic diner. The restaurant filled up as the evening went on and the waitstaff was keeping up very well. One thing that was a key discovery was the bruschetta appetizer with fresh mozzarella slices. It was a smash hit and will always be on my order next time we're there. read more

We were visiting for our daughter's graduation and when it comes to Italian I am pretty critical. Grew up in NJ in an Italian family and understand what makes "good" in an Italian kitchen. The service was great, the food selection was well put together. Everyone really enjoyed the meal, from the bread, through the salad, to the main course. I have dined at this restaurant many times over the years. It was so nice to be back in a restaurant after not being able to dine out for months. Fanaticos has a fresh new look and they did a great job with the new decor. We chose to have the gnocchi, which was the special for the evening. Many days the owner will cook up a little gnocchi and keep it in the back for customers who ask for it as it is not on the regular menu. His gnocchi has always been nice and light and fluffy. Perfectly prepared! Unfortunately last night the gnocchi was very inconsistent. Many of the gnocchi were hard and rubbery. It was disappointing. I'm guessing that the owner did not prepare the gnocchi. read more

Came across this place on New Year's Eve with the hubby. Pretty sure they were closing soon, but when we called the owner told us to come on in! The waitstaff and owner are of the most kind people I have ever met. Every meal I've had here (many meals) have been as tasty as the first time. Might be the best Italian place I've ever ate at. Horrible experience with dry chicken and a waitress who was not very good. I put a review on trip advisor and the owner yelled at me saying it was "my mistake." We came here initially and loved it. I absolutely enjoyed my visit there. I purposely visited off hours ( 430pm ) for lunch/dinner. It was handled expertly. My hostess and waitstaff were prepared. I ordered fried calamari and a drink. Both were excellent. I spoke with the floor manager , Kiki, and I was impressed. She is very well versed , while being very Folksy. I felt very comfortable. After my cocktail, I had some wine. The wine list is very versatile. From $150 to $8. I had a great bottle of Barolo with my Lasagne. The entree was a bit cheesy, but that was essential. The idea here is to present classic Italian cuisine and Fanatico excels at doing that. The staff is friendly and helpful. When the dining room is crowded , service can be a bit stretched but what can you expect? During my solo visit, my dining neighbor was a family of four who was having great fun. This was especially noted because 2 guests were under the age of 5. The staff is hard working and attentive. They remembered our dining party from months prior and duplicated the great prior service. If I was hungry now, then I would go again. Have a great time at this little gem. read more

I am a regular at Fanatico. The food is always extraordinary. The service is outstanding and Kiki and Benny are super social, and make you feel welcome and apart of their family! Every time I walk in Kiki makes sure you are welcomed by her smile and Benny always visits the table to make sure your food is at he wants to be, amazing. His garlic and the brown he puts on it is amazing. If you are anywhere near Whitewater Wisconsin make it to Fanatico for dinner. The service is always top and the food is always super. My sister and I went here as we are new to the area. We started off with the mozzarella sticks which were super cheesy. Then we got clam chowder and breadsticks. The calm chowder was the best that I've had as it was creamy and you could taste the clams; however, it was not overpowering. I wish I could have received more because it was amazing. I got the Italian ravioli. Though there were only 4 ravioli patties in the serving, they were large and filled up. One down side is that there was only for 4 patties for the price, but it was high quality food. Because everything was delicious, we decided to order dessert as well, even though we were stuffed. The carrot cake was a large slice with chunks of walnuts in it. The service was fast and the staff were compassionate and knowledgeable about the food and their jobs. Overall it was authentic food that I would recommend to anyone. I think this place would be good for a date night, ladies night, and a great night out. read more
