Cute place, but our first visit was not good. Saturday night and the place was busy but there were at least three tables available and no line of people waiting. We were greeted right away and taken to a table in the main dining room. A few minutes later the server told us someone else was supposed to have that table, so we were moved to a table out in the hallway (an extension of the restaurant that is made to look like a charming sidewalk cafe). No big deal, though the hallway was far from the main dining room and very cold especially whenever anyone walked in the door. We just kept our jackets on. We ordered as soon as the server arrived and got drinks, salads and breadsticks after about twenty minutes. Breadsticks were slightly burnt but still good enough, and the salads were simple and fresh with a variety of spring greens. Twenty minutes after that, the server returned to say they were out of the vegetable of the day but would substitute another one (fine with us, we like all veggies!). An hour passed and when the server came back to the table, it became clear that the order hadn't been put in after the question about the veggies. I would assume shepherding the orders is the server's responsibility, and she was very apologetic but said it would be another 20 minutes for our food. By that time we were ravenous, and the food was OK -- hot and tasty enough but nothing special. I assume the kitchen had to rush to prepare it for us before they closed for the night. Fanatico offered to comp our meals, so I give them credit for stepping up that way. (This would have been a one or two star rating otherwise.) We left some $$$ on the table anyway since we did eat (eventually). Manager stopped over to apologize but said she had no idea why the timing was so messed up, which was very odd . . . I would have thought the staff would have clued her in before she came over to us. If I was managing the place, I'd try to resolve some communication gaps -- never should an order get sidelined the way ours did, and the managers should be fully aware of what is happening (or at least make it their business to find out before they approach a customer). In any case, a bad first experience with the restaurant but they recognized there was an issue even without us complaining and then they did what they could to make up for it. I "might" give them another try since it looks like one of the better options in the area, but only on a night that was not very busy. read more

Really nice location and service is great. Food might be great for Whitewater but mediocre for Italian food. Ordered lasagna. It came out a big cheesy sloppy mess and didn't taste better. Cheese sticks and calamari not much better. Chicken was rubbery for the chicken parm. Best part of meal was bread sticks. This might be best restaurant rated in Whitewater but that isn't saying much. For good Italian in area recommend extra drive to Delevan for Sweet Aroma. read more

This was by far the BEST FOOD!! Delicious!!!!!! Wonderful!! Coning back to whitewater just to eat here!! My wife and I stopped for lunch after a horrible experience at another restaurant. (second salem brewing Aweful! Avoid!) we wanted something light. The caprese salad, the Bruchette, Wedge salad etc... best ever!! So amazing The teramisu is the best I ever had including my many trips to italy read more

Great little place with some nice ambiance. Fine for date night, group of friends, or the family. Nice selection of authentic Italian foods, with good portion sizes. Food and drinks were a bit pricier than I anticipated for the demographics, but not out of line. read more

Easily the best food in town, the service is also outstanding and the ambiance is very cozy and warm.

Great food; great service! Nine family members celebrating the life of our parents/parents-in-laws. Fabulous food with all of us ordering different plates. Soup and salads were very good. All of the main dishes were very tasty! Would eat here again. read more

Per recommendation, our family celebrated our Easter dinner at Fanatico (on Saturday this year due to some of our family members coming from out of town). The ambiance was beautiful, our server (Izzy) was amazing, and the food was delicious!! We had special diet restrictions and Estelle made sure everything was just right. In short, we all loved it and will definitely be back! Highly recommend! read more

My family and I stopped at Fanatico on our way through town. What a delight. The restaurant is so cute and welcoming. The food was out of this world, delicious. I am still raving about the chicken parmesan. Our server, Kailee, was great. She knew the menu and made great recommendations. We will be back for sure. read more

Sierra was our waitress she was so lovely. She helped us choose delicious entrees. We had a delightful evening !!! She was so great!

Outstanding Italian food. Their homemade sauces are excellent. I'm not a big fan of Italian but I love Fanatico.

Friendly staff, excellent salad. Very fresh, generous portion of grilled chicken tastes as if it just came straight off the grill, plated on the greens and served in front of me within seconds of it hitting the plate. If you are rolling through Whitewater, stop here! read more

One will have to take this review with a grain of salt. It has been two years since I have eaten at Fanatico, and things may have changed. The dishes I have had were relatively good; however, I do think they charge too much for certain servings. Also keep in mind that a few bites of your salad, and it is gone (same with soup). If you order takeout, like many restaurants, you can expect to get less food than you would if you eat your meals onsite. read more

I've nearly never posted a review, after the first time dinning somewhere. From start to finish this meal was one of the best I've had in Southern Wisconsin. The soup, salad, and main dishes were great. The service was some of the best I've had anywhere. And the owner/chef was walking around checking in with every table. He wasn't just going through the motions, he really cared. They are a cut about the rest, you should try if you are in the area. read more

Traveling into whitewater and it was getting late, we came across Fanaticos. Even though it was right before closing they welcomed us in, and made sure we fealt at home. Our server Tony, was a treasure. The food was outrageously delicious, and do not get me started with the lemon drop. read more

FANATICO - a martini with a slice of lemon on the rim - Italian Near Me - Whitewater, Wisconsin

Simply amazing. Not a bad dish on the menu and all very authentic flavors. Have ate their more times that I can count, and never disappointed. Kiki and Benny are some of the best people I know. Can't give Fanatico enough praise. read more

The food here seems to be either hit or miss, which is disappointing considering its higher-brow price. The breadsticks they hand out are particularly gross, they're the same you get bulk or frozen at the grocery store, bland and spongelike. The lambchops I ordered were impressive, but the pasta my mother got was more 'eh'. Service was very impressive. read more

Bread was delicious, garden vegetable soup was delicious BUT the chicken tasted like rubber on all of our dishes and the chicken Marsala was uneditable. The salad was disappointing and I can't stress this enough... the chicken tasted like something from a high school cafeteria. read more

Once again I couldn't be more impressed with Fanatico. I love this restaurant!! Went with my family for fathers day and we all shared each others meals. Everything was great!! The vegetable risotto was amazing, my salmon oscar was perfectly cooked and delicious. Our waitress, Kiki, was super helpful and attentive. Please save room for dessert!! The Lemon mascarpone cake was to die for!!! Even the cocktails were spot on. read more

It is such a great feeling to walk into a restaurant that you feel like you personally discovered...when the food and service and ambience all collide and you just know that from that point forward, you will consider yourself a "regular." Fanatico is so fantastic that I have been reluctant to write a Yelp review, for fear that the word gets out and lines form out onto the street to get a table. Yes, it is that special. Oh, I've been to Rosebud in Chicago - food is good but ambience is less so. Porta Bella in Madison is comparable, though the prices are more reasonable at Fanatico. So I post here, hoping that this small intimate place with great food stays on Main Street for many many years. read more

Great little spot waiters were good people. My dish which was lemon chicken with the angel hair noodles was good. My girlfriend got the lasagna and it was nothing special to be honest. Previously I got the italian sausage with the raviolis and I did enjoy that. I would say its better than olive garden. read more

Olive Garden would do well to pay attention to the culinary delights at Fanatico. We stopped in after dropping our daughter off at school. The ambiance of the dining room was reminiscent of a little French restaurant we visited in Quebec: cozy but not hectic. The Puttanesca is to die for. A little bit of heat but the meatballs are juicy and delectable. I was pleasantly surprised to find the olives in the meal were green. The side salad was what I expected, although the homemade ranch was tasty. My wife had the chicken Alfredo, which was delicious, as I didn't get to try any. The tomato with couscous soup tasted like it was made while we were waiting-so fresh. Not overly salty. For dessert we took home tiramisu. Even a day later the espresso leaked wonderfully out of the ladyfingers. The service was terrific and a table visit from the owner was a sweet touch. If you're in the mood for great Italian in whitewater then FANATICO is the place to go! Bravo! read more

Overall a fantastic Italian restaurant, great menu choices. The house Italian dressing was perfect and flavorful, Chicken Picata was equally flavorful and the portion was just right. For a side the penne w/ Vodka Sauce was a perfect compliment to the main dish. read more

I wanted lasagna last night for dinner. Didn't find till lunch. Excellent baked lasagna with potato pesto soup. The sauce is fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant. Went out of my way to go to Fanatico- Only to be turned away and totally dismissed at the front door. You're "too busy to accept a take out order." Just lost a loyal customer. Good luck. read more

I had dinner here with a friend a few weeks ago and was not disappointed. To begin, the breadsticks are good, though I will say they are not really unique. They are similar in quality and taste to Olive Garden's, though the individual oil and cheese trays are a nice touch. We both got seafood related entrees and they were delicious and perfectly done. We had zero complaints. The service was fast and friendly, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu. The decor and atmosphere were lovely and I would recommend Fanatico's to anyone looking for an enjoyable Italian meal. read more

Absolutely amazing food. Great service and glad I took my grandparents here. Was very fancy.

If you have special diet requirements, avoid this place! Overall the food was tasty, but rather small portions. The lasagna was flat and my understanding was that it just tasted OK according to other members of my group. My biggest issue was that I informed the waitress at the very start of our visit that my husband and I didn't consume dairy or meat. I asked her to give us a heads up if we were ordering anything that wasn't vegan. She repeated back to me, so I assumed she understood the concept. Fortunately neither of us have allergies to dairy like his cousin, or we'd probably be dead right now. She brought out breadsticks and prepared oil plates with no grated cheese on them for us, so I figured the bread was safe until someone else in my group mentioned they were like Olive Garden's. My husband had already tasted his and suspected it had butter. When I asked the waitress if they were prepared with butter, she just said "oh, sorry" and walked away. For dinner I wanted veggies with my pasta with pomodoro sauce, so I requested the Pasta Primavera with pomodoro sauce. I was told no, the chef won't do that, so I just got spaghetti with pomodoro. It tasted good, but at this point I was suspicious of all the food and couldn't enjoy my meal. I would have liked some bread, and asked it there was any kind of bread without butter. Again the answer was no. We were told no to relatively simple requests probably three or four times, but I don't remember what the other ones were (the other requests were made by the non-vegan members of our party). Personally, my husband and I will not be returning due to lack of vegan options and no willingness to accommodate simple customer requests. read more

I've dined here a couple of times and am Impressed. The menu has quite a bit of variety for such a small restaurant, and departs from the traditional offerings or red sauce pastas. I've had the vodka sauce on a couple of dishes and enjoy it. Dinner comes with fresh breadsticks and soup or a very ample side salad. It is not indicated on the menu (I think) but you can add your choice of meat to any of the pasta dishes. I had the sausage and it was great. On my next trip, I'm planning on trying the chicken vesuvio. The staff was friendly and efficient. My only disappointment were the cannoli. They only had filling on either end and the center was empty. read more

Food was amazing but dining was a horrible experience. We was ask how many are we sitting for (Obviously 2 plus we brought along our baby) told us to wait a second at the door while go "CHECK SOMETHING OUT" she came back & told us all the seats inside was RSVP but we could sit in the hallway dinning room. (Which is not inside the restaurant) We proceeded to grab the seats anyways Excited for the Italian experience I was told about.. but also kinda disturbed because I called prior too & they told us they had a lot of availability for walk-ins. The hallway they seated us in was very open & noisy, no place to sit dining guest. It was tons of traffic leaving 2 feet away from our table. Not to mention the door was closed so it was extremely hard to get the waiters attention or for her to look out at us.. We packed up our dinner after realizing there was no sense of privacy! I noticed a family sitting outside the restaurant and asked how early in advance did they have to book, he said THEY DIDNT! They just walked in & and was offered those seats from waiters.............. the same seats I was told were RSVP ONLY?? Thanks for nothing FANATICO read more

My sister and I took our parents here for a nice dinner and were not disappointed! The breadsticks were hot and delicious, our wedge salads were fantastic (love the warm bacon!), and our pasta dishes were all very tasty and reasonably sized. We were stuffed but couldn't resist the amazing-looking desserts so we got some to go and gobbled them up at home later. All of the staff were so friendly, and our server Jacob was attentive, knowledgeable, and just a nice guy. We'll definitely be back! read more

I was here about a month ago with my husband on lunch and I was incredibly impressed with this place! I love me a good pasta and breadstick :). The waitress new everything there was to tell about the restaurant (she also let us know that the sauces are made to order, not prepared ahead of time). I got this spicy red sauce dish that reheated well when I got home (be prepared for left overs!). We had the potato skin appetizer also, which was a nice tie over until we got our salads and main dishes. Reasonably priced as well. read more

What a nice find in downtown Whitewater!! Stopped here with a small group before going to a play. We all ordered different entrees and each one was amazing. The seafood dishes really shined. I have come here a lot and I have always love the service, atmosphere, and food. Today, I ordered food through EatStreet for delivery, and waited for over an hour for my food. When I looked outside for my food, it had been there for a while and was already getting cold. When I called them to figure out what happened (I pride myself on my patience and understanding as someone currently in food service, and I was very kind when talking to the woman on the phone), I was met with such an intense attitude, I was taken completely off guard. We were able to come to the conclusion that I had mistyped my phone number into the app, and while I can admit that fault as my own, no matter the situation I should not have been made to feel so terrible for wanting to know what happened. Never would I treat another person this way, let alone a customer. I'm so disappointed. read more
