edit: we hung out in the location on their benches waiting for our order, and the venue is well-lit, spacious, clean, and had many families with all ages. in addition, there are new-gen digital slot machines as well as traditional crane games. there was also a third weird type of gambling game, where there were a nintendo switch and ipad mini hanging to entice people. whether or not it ever pays those out, does anybody know? /-------- Ordered a lot (no pizza in this review) italian beef sandwich was GOOD. i like a good cheesesteak and this was among the better ones ive ever had. meatballs were decent. cheesed garlic bread from appearances alone seemed mid, but it was actually very "real" on the inside and perfectly toasted. last but not least was the ice cream-- this time was the Fat Elvis flavor (banana pb and chocolate). it is recommended by me to all who read this. My boyfriend ate here "every day" in college and he and his best friend hold it in high regard. This is his standard for Italian beef sandwiches and it's his favorite fried ravioli. I hope he never reads this review, because I was unimpressed. I will give him that the fried ravioli was tasty; you also get a large serving for $7. It wasn't clear from the menu or ordering process that they dump your sauce of choice all over it, though - it got a little soggy by the time I was halfway through. The fried ravioli is considered an entree (ah, college kids) so you also get a small loaf of bread that seemed fresh-baked. Despite being a decent dish at a decent value, though, there are a couple of Madison spots that outrank it off the top of my head. Service was adequate but not exactly friendly - while waiting for my receipt the printer jammed. The kid went back to get a new roll and pulled out my crumpled receipt and then looked up to ask "do you need something?" I said I was just waiting for my receipt and he said "oh" and then walked away, chucking my crumpled receipt in the trash. *headdesk* Ambiance was also lacking - a weird smell permeated the restaurant and everything was run down. It definitely looked like things hadn't been updated since the 70s or 80s. We've all got our favorite college haunts so I can't begrudge my boyfriend's affections, but as a first-timer in my 30s I don't have any urge to go back. read more

My alma mater's got a lot of charm in the small, quaint town of whitewater. If you can overlook the dilapidated and decrepit/outdated decor, Rosa's Pizza offers a lot of good deals to hungry, penniless students of university of Wisconsin - Whitewater! For instance: One trip salad and soup bar. For around five bucks, you get one trip for salad and soup. The salad bar has a lot of side dishes including pastas and potato salad, but unfortunately lacks any sort of meat (including poultry) toppings. Take heed. Ordered a very unique soup called the "Buffalo soup." Very spicy, buffalo flavored soup with chicken. The broth almost tastes like a chicken flavored version of your run-of-mill buffalo sauce. 5/5 Salad was okay. It appears to be a college favorite. That's appropriate, seeing as you need a college student metabolism to burn off the all dough and cheese from their pizzas. College me would have eaten at this place all the time. They have something called the double decker pizza which is two pizzas layered one on top of the other. They also offer spaghetti in a bucket. College classics right there. But honestly, I've had better tasting pizza from chains like Papa Murphy's, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, and even Domino's since it decided to use better ingredients. They also have a variety of ice creams available, but sadly, no beer. read more

This was our first trip back to Rosas since the remodel. I love that they stuck with the same concept. The food was great and reasonably priced. The only thing missing was the salad bar but they did have some salad options. My kids really enjoyed the arcade games. read more

Husband and I lost track of time on a Sunday evening and the 2 places that we knew about were already closed. Rosa's was open so we figured that or fast food burgers. We order a chicken parm dinner, sausage sandwich and the toasted ravioli. The food was surprisingly good (better that the sit down place a couple of doors down!), We were both extremely please with the food. We even had enough for a second light meal which reheated was also very good. Glad we found this hidden gem and definitely plan on making this a regular. Can't wait to try the pizza. read more

Pizza tasted like it was from a cheap water park. After a long decision on where to go we chose to give Rosas a try and I was very disappointed. We ordered cheese curds and breadsticks as well. cheese curds didn't have much in them. Breadsticks were average. I wouldn't say it was horrible, but could be better. read more

Pizza and Italian beef are decent but don't order online or even in person if you are expecting to get it in the time they specify. 4 times in a row of excessive amounts of waiting after being told a certain amount of time. This time was told 25 mins and it's now been nearly 60. Was told they hadn't even started it at the 25 min mark. With all the other options it's really not even worth it anymore. read more

This place has nothing going for it. It's dumpy, smells bad and the pizza is bland and average at best. I suppose the college kids might like like it, but stopping here with my family was a mistake. For some reason my friends love this place. Possibly because one used to work there. The inside is very old and every time i go there it smells like cigarettes. Even though smoking indoors has been illegal for 20 years. There are flies in the store 3 seasons out of the year, half of the ice cream in the cooler is melted. The pizza is just ok. Like half a step above a frozen pizza. Salads are watery jokes, but some of the chicken or fried sides like mozzarella sticks are tolerable. The best thing about this place is the price. Much cheaper than Toppers, so it can be a good choice for college kids with no taste. read more

Would not recommend! Poor service and bad food. My daughter had an Italian Beef, after eating a bit of the sandwich she found the plastic square that holds the bread bag together. We called and they said they would take our name and replace for free. A few months later, get up the courage to try again, and they no longer have my free sandwich-credits are held for a month...no one mentioned that. Besides a month isn't enough time for her to get over the gross plastic on the last sandwich. They were rude, wouldn't give us the credit. I ate Rosa's while I attended college in Whitewater, and the same guys are running it today. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It is the best Chicago style pizza in town for sure. They also have amazing Italian beef sandwiches. Every time I'm in Whitewater I stop in for lunch. Everyone should eat Rosas. read more

Went there for a quick dinner. When we got there no other customers were there. We ordered, which was a pretty simple order French fries for one person and a chicken sandwich for the other. After about 5 minutes a couple other people arrived and ordered. About 25 minutes go by and no food has arrived yet, but the table that arrived after us is given their food. Another 20 minutes go by and still no food; nobody comes to the table saying it's going to be awhile. At this point I'm wondering what is taking so long for a simple order. I go up to the counter to ask if the waitress knows how longer it will since we order 45 minutes ago. She looks at me like she has no idea what talking about and has to stop eating her pizza so that she can answer me. After figuring out there was food under the warmer in kitchen she hands it to and goes back to eating her pizza in front of customers. Upon starting to eat the food we discover the order is wrong and the cheese sauce that is meant to be served hot is ice cold. Worst service I have ever had here. Usually this place is a great place to eat. But not tonight. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews but this was one experience I must share. One star is being extremely generous. The most miserable "eating out" experience of my life. Every single table was filthy. My son asked to have a table cleaned so an employee sprayed some tables with toxic 409 and mopped them. The smell of the cleaner was overwhelming. We ordered a stuffed pizza with mushrooms, onions, green pepper, and sausage. Paper plates? WTH! The pizza was still raw, except for the outside edge, which was warm. The vegetables were still cold. I'm hoping one or both of us doesn't spend the next day recovering in the bathroom! It's a horrible place in every way. I can go on but enough said. Don't do it!!! read more

Stopped by today and ordered a 12 inch stuffed crust pizza with 3 toppings. I can't say that I'm impressed at all it had the potential to be good. The lack of a restaurant experience was really a turn off. based on the ample space available one would think that that would be the environment. It's basically like a self-service place with some tables but unfortunately every single table in the establishment was dirty, filthy sticky nasty dirty (had to ask for a table to be cleaned). when the pizza arrived it was drastically under cooked the middle was barely even warm. It's a shame they charge a premium price so I expected a premium product. My date and I (mother) were very dissapointed with the experience. I tried to keep a positive attitude about the establishment in front of my mother but this s*** was gross. If there was a way to get reimbursed or acknowledgment that something was wrong today it would be appreciated.
