When the pizza is done right it's pretty good. Pricey, but a satisfying meal. The potato wedges are really good (when cooked right). The fried chicken is EXTREMELY salty!! It's almost inedible. If they took about 85% of the salt out it would be decent fried chicken. The Peno sticks were pretty old tasting & tough. Def. not cooked all the way through either. If you got money to waste and don't mind a 50/50 shot of getting a decent meal. This is your place. read more

The nostalgia is real! Growing up in rural Wisconsin and coming into the city for a movie (like "Star Wars") and then going to Gus' after was always a big deal in my family. The restaurant has changed and is a lot bigger than I remember and they got rid of the 25¢ for five songs jukebox, but I have to say the cracker-crust pizza is the same: perfect. In all the pizza wars between a New York slice-a and Chicago pies, cracker-crust is underrated, but come to Gus' if you want a classic example of the style. read more

traveling from out of town and staying at the Fairfield Inn on Main. I ordered the Greek Salad with gyro meat, order was delivered a little out of estimated time, no biggie. Met and tipped my delivery person in the lobby, it's after 8:30 so I am ready to eat, open the bag, no silverware. I call, say, must be a mistake but I have no silverware, the gal answering the phone asks someone in the background and he says we don't send silverware unless requested. I tell the gal I'd like to talk to the man in the background, he gets on the phone and I ask why if I ordered a salad, delivered to a hotel, I would not receive to go silverware? He had a hostile response "we serve pizza and gyris all day and never send silverware". I respond "cool... but I ordered a salad, delivered to a hotel, do you think I have silverware"? his response..."IDK, you should have requested silverware".... bad, bad, bad business. Excellent pizza , decent prices, and good service!!! Drinks a little pricey but nothing too over the top. Was able to feed my family of 6 w lots of leftovers for about $10/pp. was a nice ambiance. We did have to wait for our pizza about 45 min but it was worth it. Get the deep dish house special yummmm! Also cheese bread was ok. Probably wouldn't get that again. Service spot on!!! Almost twenty years ago, we called the place "Greasy Gus's." There was always a pool of oil in the center to the pizza. It had been decades since I partook in their pizza, but realized that they delivered out to Whitewater Lake after seeing their cars on my block. I gave them a tray again and the best way I can describe the pizza as old school. They have thick and thin crust, but I mostly order the thin. It is like the delivery pizza that you remember as a child and the ingredients are super fresh. I suggest a side salad that includes some of the various pizza toppings as a side. I've never tired the fried chitin, but understand that it is well liked. read more

Good Pizza and always nice to visit a non chain. Service was excellent on a quiet Friday night. Only complaint or comment was that the regular Pepsi was not good. I like regular soft drinks when I indulge periodically and therefore I expect the formula to be correct. I mentioned this on the way out and the waitress who was great said that other customers have mentioned it before and she left it at that. I recommended that they let customers know this or more importantly fix the minor issue. At a minimum they should have offered crediting this on the bill. read more

You know how we remember things from our past with greater tastes and better atmosphere. Those memories are usually meet with disappointment after years of absence. Well... Not so in this case. I was instantly brought back to my college years when I walked into the restaurant. They may have moved the restaurant and significantly updated the decor but the smell was the same as I remembered. My mouth was fully saturated with anticipation, so much do that, my wife had to gently remind me not to get my hopes up to high. However I am ecstatic to report the chicken special as even better than I remembered! The pizza was equally rewarding. The were also some new additions in my twenty years of absence. Like the peno sticks and beer!!! I will try to make it back before another twenty years rolls by. After all, I didn't have enough room for what I remember as the best damn gyro ever made. Very friendly, efficient service - have eaten in the restaurant and had takeout. Have had the jalapeño cheese sticks, pizza, Greek salad and deep dish pizza. Jalapeño sticks are fine - cheese and jalapeños on bread with good marinara sauce. Unfortunately on all pizzas, pizza crust is pretty tasteless, piled with lots of cheap tasteless mozzarella. Deep dish is basically a half inch piece of mushy bread with normal pizza toppings on top - pretty horrible. Greek salad is probably the best thing they have - lettuce with a sprinkling of tomatoes and feta and lots of olives. read more
