I am a big fan of this place. I've visited multiple times, but finally have managed to sit down and write a review. I only did beer and appetizers tonight, but was still very happy with my meal. The beer selection is not large, but it is a solid, high quality selection and they have no problem with letting you taste beers before making a purchase. I have had many fabulous meals here. Tonight I had the Rockfish bites. They were perfectly seasoned and fried; tender and delicious. The sauce served on the side, also delightful. I definitely recommend this place. read more

We decided to give this place a try on Sunday night for the first time. We had a group of 5 plus a kiddo. Place was pretty empty, not a shock since it was 430pm on a Sunday. My wife and I both had the Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Meatloaf, with mashed potatoes and bbq sprouts. It was very good and we had plenty for dinner the next day, and it was still good. We also had the rock fish bites, they tasted fresh and had a great light breading. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, my daughter is 13 months and they were very nice and accommodating. Our only complaint would be that the dining room had a slight smell, but not enough to bother us during our meal. We will definitely be back and hop the food will be just as good. read more

Stopped in for takeout for the first time. Food was ready on time. Got it home 25 minutes later and was still great. Got the barrel house burger with an egg cooked perfectly medium rare. Egg was actually perfectly runny. I love a messy delicious burger where you really don't want to put it down. I didn't and crushed it. Mozzarella sticks were on point! Breaded shrimp was a touch soggy but after 30 minutes or so in the container there was nothing to complain about shrimp tasted great. Carolina mustard wings also were perfect. Barrelhouse Old Fashion was just gross. Tasted like Canadian whiskey with seltzer. Food was mostly done wrong and two of the six in our party had to wait 40 minutes AFTER everyone else received their food even though we ordered at the same time. We love this place! Sundays is our favorite day to stop by. Chris is the best all-time server. The food is great. They have the best ribs. They are so tender and fall right off the bone. A big miss for this place is that they don't take advantage of wanting to be a whiskey bar....they should have a drink menu with whiskey drinks. This could get people that don't normally drink whiskey to try a drink made with it and they could come back more often to try whiskey. Hubby had the ribs, which he loves and rarely gets out as his are good - but decided to try them and have them a 9 out of 10, good and tender. We are new to Maryland and stumbled upon the Fallston Barrel House. We have now become regulars as the food is outstanding, every employee is friendly and helpful, the on-tap craft beer selection is outstanding, and the atmosphere is unmatched. Because of the pandemic, they setup an outstanding takeout area to protect their patrons as we continued to order meals in support. There are three levels of outdoor seating to accommodate everyone. Place was packed with patrons. There was a 45 minute wait. So we headed down stairs of the restaurant to get drinks while we waited. Totally different decor from the upstairs. Downstairs looked more like a low budget family restaurant. We noticed several tables were open but we still had to wait. Finally we were seated, we didn't get a server until we had to flag someone down. Our impromptu server apologized since she had two large parties and it wasn't her section but she helped us. We ordered and finally got our food. The ahi tuna app was good. The smoke wings were dry and hard appeared deep fried due to the texture of the skin. The gumbo was flavorful. My friend's ribs was smothered in sauce. I would guess their boiled. It looked similar what you would see a grocery hot bar. The highlight of the meal was Black Eye burger. Perhaps that played into our lackluster experience. The dining room felt very claustrophobic and had a strange musty smell. Service was really, really slow (but we were prewarned). I got the Salmon with mango salsa dish and I wouldn't recommend it. The fish was over cooked and like sawdust in the mouth, the rice was salty and the salsa was mush. I've been here 3 time in 3 weeks and it's been spot on all 3 times. Each time I've eaten at the bar and have had the pleasure of Chris taking care of me. He has a great personality, is very friendly, and is ver knowledgeable. I've tried many items off their menu and everything so far has been good. But I gave them a break because it was a brand new restaurant, went back and the service was mich better. They have a good beer selection and the bartender made my husband a great old fashion. My husband and I ordered take out about a week ago and being 7 months pregnant I was craving the steak sliders that are usually only on special. My husband asked if there was any way they could cook them up for me even though they weren't on special that specific night. It seems like this place is the hot spot right now in Harford County, we've been twice and the line is out the door. The food is delicious and they have a selection of craft beers on tap that will keep your pallet occupied and very happy for quite awhile. Our favorite appetizers are the ceviche and chorizo mussels, both are large enough to share and absolutely delicious. I am only giving 2 stars due to the fact that there were several issues. I read other reviews about the place being loud, but at 7 p. m. I took a shot and it is very hard to have a dinner conversation. I agree with others that the dinning room is too tight. I didn't find the food to be more than average. With that being said when I added a order of wings and the second one was raw on the inside that pretty much did it. They removed the wings from the check , but no one from management even came over to say anything. Needless to say that was our first time and last. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place. So we went over for an early bite to eat after a movie. It wasn't busy, so we sat right down in the dining room. First thing I noticed was an odor, it was VERY noticeable. First thing that hit me...cat urine? My husband didn't think so, he said musty...so who knows. Regardless, very strong odor. We ordered wings as an appetizer, they were good after picking all the chicken hair of them...needless to say, we didn't eat many. I had a chicken sandwich, it was ok, not bad, my husband had a cheesesteak, he said it was awful as well as his onion rings. It wasn't horrible, but it was not good. We wont be back, sadly, unless it's for a quick beer at the bar, but doubtful. Oh, there was live music too, which for some great, but while just trying to have dinner and have a conversation, it was way too loud. Nice place but the bar help are far from warm and friendly. Went there to hear a band and they totally ignored my wife and I. Nothing..."I'll be with ya in a minute"- not a word. When they finally came over after a good 5 minutes and the place was very uncrowded, it was like they were doing us a favor?! I tended bar for years and greeted all my customers with a friendly look and smile. Tips and business were good. Had my daughter's baby shower in the lower level. It was a great space. Plenty of room for our 40+ guests. Not sure the exact number the room hold, but I think it could hold much more. The food was delicious., especially the meatballs. The owners were great to work with during the planning and were very accommodating the day of. I would definitely have another party and I highly recommend to others. A lot of our guests went up stairs after for drinks and to hang out. A very fun place.
