I am constantly making my appointments and not getting in until at least an hour after the scheduled time. When I decide to wait to show up, I get a phone call from their office telling me that I'm "late" for my appointment. I went here on a recommendation of someone, but there are doctors that are just as good in the area, that won't keep you waiting.

When I got there the doctor didn't even examine just wrote me prescription that he knew would not help problem, and told me to come back in a month. I read up on what was going with me a found another doctor who couldn't understand why it wasn't drained because it was never going to go away on its own and may get worse. I think I was just an insurance payment.. sad!

Not good. I requested my contact prescription on a Tuesday. They couldn't guarantee I would have it…read morethat day. I was picking it up. I advised them it was essential that I have it, plus they were closed on Wednesday. I picked up the prescription from Thames on Tuesday afternoon. Great, I thought. I looked at it, no signature and the prescription was in the "notes" section. Not even in the area where it should be written. I questioned why NO signature? The optometrist even said, "That should be fine with no signature". I went to my appointment elsewhere to purchase (at a much lower cost than Thames) my contacts. I was told that since NO signature, they could not fill my contact prescription!! I then went in on Thursday.. spoke with the receptionist. She said there was no way she could help, as my doctor was out of the office. Well, what does that have to do we me getting my prescription? Have the other physician sign off on it! We went round and round. Finally, she said she would have Dr Grills sign it. For me to give her my email address, she would email it to me from her home. Then, mail it to me. She said she would definitely do this for me. Friday morning .... nothing. No email. Called Thames Eye Group again. She said she emailed it to me. I never received it. She said she knows she emailed it to me. I told her that was unfortunate, but I needed my prescription today. Not yesterday or next week, today. She said that it couldn't be done. Dr Grills was leaving. I told her it takes 20 seconds!! It's MY prescription! I'm not looking for an exam!! This was RIDICULOUS!!! She swore the email went through to me and maybe i didn't see it, it what she was insinuating? I told her I had a lot of other things to do than to be calling and stopping in to my eye dr!! What in God's name?! We will see what happens this afternoon at 1:00 PM when she told me it would be ready for me to pick up. So... after all this, which could have been resolved the first go around on Tuesday, has led me to write up this review and they've lost not only me as a patient but two others that go there. Absurdity at it's finest! PS - Where I go to get my contacts (Costco), the optometrist there told me they get this ALL the time from Thames. That Thames doesn't understand why the don't sign the prescriptions... perhaps they don't wan their business going to places like Costco? Who knows... all I can think of.

I really didn't know what to expect except that I would no longer need glasses for distance (I would need something for close). The SAME NIGHT as my first eye (they were done a week apart) I could watch TV with no glasses! After the second eye was done yesterday, the vision became balanced. It was fascinating to see how colors changed. I am thrilled with the outcome and wish I hadn't waited so long to get it done!

Initially, I was impressed with the location, the staff, & the service. Be forewarned though that…read morewhatever you may be going in for, they will attempt to get you to buy multi-focal lenses....very expensive multi-focal lenses. I went to this establishment concerned about my vision, hoping they could help. I was given a thorough examination & then I was given the talk. I was led to believe that my new 700.00 dollar frames would help improve my vision. I gave the glasses a chance for a few months, but they weren't helping. I tried to get a refund, but was told too much time had elapsed. Upon going to a neuro-ophthamologist to aid with my vision, I had simply been previously prescribed the incorrect glasses. When I went back to discuss this with them they once again said too much time had passed to issue a refund & I overheard them giving the pitch to another customer for multi-focal lenses. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure many benefit from them, but be wary & possibly get a second opinion determining if you really need them. I'll give them credit, they gave me a 15$ gift certificate to Starbucks when I bought the glasses, so...ahhh....cool.

I trusted her diagnosis and referral to a specialist, however. My 92yo Dad had a botched cataract operation from a different ophthalmologist in another practice, and thus, he has only one "good" eye that I would entrust to only the best doctor. I'm hoping they are it at Norwich Ophthalmology.

I highly recommend this place for any eye problems you may have. I have gone here many times over…read morethe last 15 years, to both the Norwich and Groton offices, for glasses, annual checkups, and eye issues. At both offices, the staff, technicians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists have all been pleasant, efficient, and very attentive to my needs. The quality of care here, across all areas, is very high. I recently had cataract surgery with Dr Anish Shah, and I could not have asked for a better experience. Dr Shah was very knowledgeable, efficient, and personable. He answered all my questions (including ones I didn't think to ask) and he has a good sense of humor. The surgical coordinator, Stephanie Hyde, was also wonderful to work with.

He's been my primary care doctor for about four years and has never made me feel unimportant or afraid of whatever obstacle i've encountered with. I'm convinced he has super powers because every diagnosis has been correct and every treatment has worked, and if it didn't the first try he always goes the extra mile and makes sure you get the best possible end result. 10/10 recommend Dr.Anderson if you're looking for a doctor
