a tray of meat and sides

Amazing! Probably the best food you'll find in old Quebec. Tons of food for the price, and the service was fairly quick considering all of the variety of meat ordered. Definitely left happy and full. Tons of flavor and a big reason why I would return to that part of town! 5/5

Beef Brisket with Poutine

Great little divey place with fantastic smoked meat and barbecue. Great trendy place in Quebec City with incredible selection of food.

Combo

Service was super good, and they seated us inside immediately even though we didn't have a reservation. Food took long but it was because we ordered the biggest thing off the menu- the combo with many different meats, cornbread, coleslaw and beans. We got a bit annoyed with how long it took but it was worth it. Good!

The barbecue for 2 platter. The blueberry mocktail on the right was really good- love that they have mocktail options

Love love loved this restaurant. I was skeptical of how good Canadian barbecue could be but it exceeded my expectations. The beans had a great flavor, the sauces were amazing, and the different meats were all delicious too. And the atmosphere is also unique. Highly recommend!

I am going to be biased because I was in Tennessee 4 was ago, but it's 3.5 at best from an American perspective and I can see how some people can give 4 or 5. Service was great and location was great. Mid Aug so great weather to dine outside but that's not what the review is about. It's just about food. 3 is not a bad rating to me. 3 is good but I wouldn't go back rating to me. There was just not a true smoke flavor. I can't see this being true wood smoke. Maybe not or maybe they don't market as such, but if this is what true Canadians like then true Americans should stay away. Briskets still had fat that didn't render down and it was difficult to chew. Chicken were better on breast side and legs were dry. We went because my wife wanted some chicken after many seafood and Italian rest this wk. we should've known better. If you have to get BBQ fix then you should go. If not? then I would move on to something else. Just don't expect true bbq.

The best BBQ we have ever had! And we love BBQ! The space is super indie and fun. Service was excellent and accommodating. Wings were unique but incredible! Everything fell off the bone in such a perfect way. No complaints!

Dinner

The service was great. Need a reservation if you want to eat later than 6pm. We had the BBQ platter for 2. It was more than enough food and delicious to top it off. Beer was cold and good and the Bloody Mary had BBQ rub on the rim also.

Brisket and ribsss!!

Very tender and juicy with amazing flavor. We had the Grillades du Poulet Deux Cuisses. (Grilled chicken thighs). It came with a leg and a thigh as well as coleslaw and fries. The seasoning on the skin was spot on delicious! I'm in Vermont right now, and still thinking about it. We tried some empanaditas as well. They were small, but tasty. We really liked the spicy fry sauce that came with them. Of course, we had a side order of poutine to share between the 3 of us, which (as always) was a tasty gooey sloppy treat. You order at the counter, and they buzz you when your order is ready. The staff are fun and friendly, and were happy to speak English to my wife and daughter, while I practiced my quebecois. Great prices - much lower than everything in Old Quebec, and to be honest, much more delicious. Because it's off the beaten path, there is no line. So glad we came here on our last night!

There is some confusion here: the same people own a meat shop next door with the same name and somewhat limited hours. The restaurant side is open more. The chicken is great. I believe it is BYOB but I might be wrong about that; call if you're wanting to drink. It is the kind of food that tastes good after a week of traditional, heavy Quebecois cooking: spicy and healthy.

Americans familiar with the make-your-own-bowl dining situation will know how this place works…read more This is a fast food restaurant that I first spotted at the Quebec City mall food court. The passing trays looked amazing but we couldn't find seating to save our lives so we struck out to look for another location nearby. You start with a base: quinoa, rice, bulgur, fries (poutine), or lettuce. You choose a number of chicken tenders in one or two flavors, then choose from a variety of toppings. The staff here *understandably* is not great in English, which can of course change depending on where you go and when you come. This was one of our first stops before my high school/college French instruction "clicked on" again, so ordering was mildly stressful for our family. It would have been nice if there were some pre-designed bowl recipes to select from (like Cava, for example). For those of you willing to play the language barrier game, the sky is the limit in terms of how you can personalize your bowl. Like every Quebecois dining establishment, this fast food chain is head and shoulders above any American equivalent. Even their poutine (which can be messed up, I assure you) was among the top poutines I've eaten. This is a great place to grab a quick meal, as light or heavy as you require.

While strolling in Grand Alle, we decided to have lunch here. The setup looked like fine dining,…read morebut little did I know it was a chain restaurant. St. Hubert is a huge part of Quebec's contemporary lifestyle. It all started with one restaurant on St. Hubert Street in Montreal back in 1951, and now there are 117 locations. Chain restaurant dining reflects Quebec culture very well. The portions are larger, the restaurants are nicely decorated, and the service is friendly. Many locations have a separate bar and lounge. from nowhere, it looks like a food chain restaurant. Coming to food, we ordered 1/2 Piri Chicken with rice & coleslaw. - Canada is like the hub of rotisserie chicken and the first time, I saw it came in piri piri flavor, nice!! It comes with rice and 2 types of sauces. The chicken was well-cooked and sauteed in the sauce. The food was good. it comes with unlimited coleslaw (creamy and original) Ambiance: super clean, well maintained, and good service. They need to open in the USA too.

The server was very attentive and the restaurant was not busy at hall. I had a view straight into the kitchen where the dishwasher is. The chicken was dry and the vegetables bland and overcooked. The so called bun that came with the dinner was like the bottom of a tasteless dry hamburger bun. I was expecting a dinner roll. The caesar salad lettuce was cut into way too small leaves and the parmesan cheese tasted old/dry. The ice tea was a lot of ice in a small glass. Tasted like a powder mix. The food was below average and it was like going to Denny's to eat. I would not eat here or any other St Hubert restaurant.

3.5/5, +.5 for service…read more This was my family's last stop in Quebec City before driving back to Montreal. Q-de-Sac is a restaurant in Old Quebec (lower town) that's more of a bar setting. They have some Quebec staples like poutine and foie gras, and a selection of 10" pizzas available. We came here for lunch and each had a French onion soup. I had a Shack's Poutine by myself, while my mom and dad shared a beef cheek pizza. The French onion soup was a bit salty. I find it intriguing that multiple establishments in Quebec City kept mentioning their onion soups as the "best in town", including this one. This one was good, but I'd give Chez Boulay the crown from all the places I tried. The poutine, on the other hand, was excellent. Will never say no to plentiful cheese curds, and I don't mind foie gras at all. My parents enjoyed the beef cheek pizza, particularly highlighting the BBQ sauce and the smoked beef cheeks. Service was excellent. We arrived around 11:30am and there was one other table taken, but by the time we left around 1pm there was a lineup. Personally I would come back here.
