I've been going here for years; they always had a great plate. Just had lunch and how things have changed. The hot dogs are now the size of Vienna Sausages; I would say half the size they used to be. Their hot sauce has always been the best in town. It still is but they only put a dash on your plate now. The service was terrible. A girl behind the counter was watching something on her phone and really didn't want to be bothered by a customer, and I was the only one in there at 1PM. Good great - service sucks - I ordered onion rings 2 1/3 lbs burgers and 2 orders of fries - the whole reason I went there was for the onion rings - they don't grease soak - anyway I got home and instead of onion rings I got seasoned fries - I called to let them know - no kidding the guy on the phone said bring them back and he refund me - no way - I was on my short lunch break from work - not high on my list of eatery's any more - I really wanted the onion rings I bought and paid for - the place is clean and I like the Fairport Raiders read more

Fairport hots has always been my favorite hots place even in high school, the food in my opinion has always been consistent . The garbage plates are always on point and most of their fried foods are good . The chili cheese fries were kind of soggy I didn't like the crinkle cut fries I wouldn't order them again, the store has always been run by high school kids and they are on point! Food is good. Service is so bad it could win awards. I've eaten here many times and the service is so terrible. Here are a few examples: I walked in to pick up an order I placed over the phone. I walk up the counter and two people are behind there who look at me and just look away. Only do they engage me when the manager walks in and asks why I am not being helped. These people were about four feet away from me. I walk in to pick up a phone order and the guy behind the counter takes a while to turn around and when he does he just looks at me. I say "I'm here to pick up an order for ____". He doesn't say anything just stares at me for a second, grabs my order and puts it on the counter and promptly turns around. Never said a word the whole exchange, just acted like I was a major inconvenience the whole time. Today was the final straw. I called with a simple order for pickup. A girl picks up and cuts me off asking if she can put me on hold for a minute. I say sure. Over five minutes later I just decided to hang up because it's not worth my time. Im not one to write bad reviews but this place leaves me in awe from how bad their service is time and time again. My favorite "hots" place in the suburbs-- it's staffed by high school kids who gave mastered the menu-- which is pretty broad-- while talking with their friends about what they want to talk about on social media. Worst. Plate. Ever. Worst. Service. Ever. My cheeseburger plate was absolutely disgusting. The bottom of the container was a deep puddle of water and grease that soaked everything, and the sauce was nasty. When I told the kid behind the counter he grabbed a garbage can, dragged it out into the dining area, and asked me to dump the grease into it. I obliged because, well, that's just me. I feel blessed just to have food to eat, BUT it was still inedible so I asked for my money back. I was told to call the owner for my refund. When I called the restaurant the next day the owner wasn't there, so I asked to speak to the manager. After a VERY long pause the kid on the phone suspiciously stated that HE was the manager. When I explained what happened he said, "oh, I heard about this!" He then told me I had eaten most of the plate [not true, I barely ate any of it], and that I was with two other people who ate their food and didn't complain, and therefore they would not give me my money back. Just cocky and beyond rude. So I left my number and asked for the owner to call me back. Crickets... No matter how many times I tried calling I could never reach the owner and never received a call back. So I got on their facebook messenger (mind you, I've been extremely civil, nice, and reasonable through all of this) and reached out several times but didn't hear back for a month. A gentlemen finally told me that he was the new owner and there were some IT issues. OK, no problem. However, the new owner proceeded to tell me he could not refund my money because the incident occurred before he took over Fairport Hots. I said I would be happy with store credit and I would purchase something other than a plate. No dice! He refused to follow his own policy which is posted at his counter. After being reasonable for so long I finally messaged him that I was going to be letting my network know what occurred and "if necessary" contact the NYS Health Department regarding the incident with the garbage can. He then refused to respond. I finally got his attention weeks later by telling him I was filing a small claims (yes, for a 15 dollar plate, but it's a matter of principle). This made him respond by saying that he notified "well known officers" of my so-called "threats of defamation of character." According to him these officers investigated me and told him about my work history! The information they shared with him was incorrect, so I'm not sure how savvy these "well known officers" are, but that type of behavior is either unlawful, unethical, or unprofessional at the very least. I hope you enjoyed this account of my miserable experience with Fairport Hots and choose to eat elsewhere. Their so-called "garbage plate" is an embarrassment to a long standing Rochester tradition. Went for a simple hot and onion rings. The dog was tiny, cut in half and not hot. Did not look like a Zweigles or taste like one. The onion rings were over done and had almost no onion. Prices were quite high. Never go back. read more

I don't mean to be a hater (because I've had some rock-solid plates at FH in the past), but the magnitude of liquid at the bottom of my plate today was a dealbreaker. 3 stars for great meat sauce (it has wonderful, true garbage plate spice mix of cinnamon, allspice, clove, etc), but short of that, extremely disappointing. Will be back at some point to see if they drain the water out of their mac salad a bit better. read more

Pains me to do. Normally the plates are legit, or at least in my head they were,, but the last 4-5 times I've made the trip back into town from canandaigua lake area and been dissatisfied, Just a couple examples: the hashbrowns have been so soggy to the extent of actually leaving liquidy/water(?) stuff at the bottom and the hot sauce used to be solid, but again it's been different every time and the way the kids ladle it on leaves the bag and container dripping with grease... and I literally call ahead right around 11 or around 3 to avoid the rush (that maybe I'm just presuming during lunch?) I suspect that a lot of people are hanging on because you guys were the rock solid plate on the East Side, but it's dropped off as of late and we need better. All due respect and hope it's taken constructively. I'd be happy to identify fixes to these concerns that I PROMISE that I'm not the only one. I hope this motivates you guys. I really do. I have been coming to Fairport Hots for 17+ years. I started when I attended Fisher and even after moving to NYC I still make sure to visit a few times each time I'm home. They have by far the best plates in Rochester, which I know are fighting words to some. However, anyone I bring along always ends up agreeing afterwards. Their Mac salad is creamy and the noodles are never over cooked , and their hot sauce is like none other. I don't post reviews a lot but I am a loyal F-Hots customer and the poor reviews I see on this page are wild to me. I've never had a watery plate, but if I take it to go I typically get the hot sauce on the side and add before I eat. Just excellent and the customer service is always great. read more

Every time I visit Rochester, I keep an eye out for places close by that serve your signature garbage plate. In town for an 80's party, I was hoping to find some place that wasn't too far from our hotel, was open after we got out of the party at 1AM, and would be able to stuff my starving stomach. Generally this place has a very fast-food place vibe, though the garbage plate market is usually just central to this area. They didn't just have plates on their menu, but a couple of other things like burgers and desserts, but I mean...why would you not want to order a plate? I knew exactly what I wanted when I strolled in, and I ended up with a tasty combo of macaroni salad and french fries, topped with some moderately hot chicken fingers, that good hot meat sauce topping, and a ton of mustard, ketchup, and onions all slathered in there. I love that they hand you your food in a styrofoam take-home container, like they know you're going to bring your artery-clogging intestinal nightmare home with you. It came with a few slices of bread to soak up all the tasty juices in your stomach and some plastic utensils. I don't claim to be a garbage plate expert, as I've only had two plates in my lifetime (the second being from this Fairport Hots), but man, this place gave me a pretty freaking delicious garbage plate. I think I have some magical power where I can tolerate hot n' spicy foods the later in the night I eat, because the plate I ordered pulled all the hot stops and I was loving the spicy tingling sensation in my mouth. For what it is, it was great! I came here around 1pm on a Sunday to split a garbage plate. We got a chicken finger garbage plate and everything was just as we expected it to be. This is a take out/delivery type Resturant with a small seating area. They have huge posters of the different foods they offered with prices on them, which I liked. The employee who took our order was polite and took not of all the different specifications we had. The seating area was clean and so was the exterior. If you are in Rochester, and you are into garbage plates, check this place out. Our garbage plate had chicken fingers, Mac salad, home fries, the hot/meat sauce, ketchup and mustard, all mixed in together. Everything seemed to be cooked fine. I enjoyed Fairport Hots plenty when I went the other day at 12am. I wasn't drunk or hungover - I just lazily spent a day in bed and realized I never ate dinner. Fairport hot was open at that time. Be sure to expect young kids out around midnight. There were tons and took up almost every table in the restaurant. Luckily, we were able to snag a table in between them. My boyfriend and I shared a Godfather Specialty Platter. 4 Hot dogs (2 red, 2 white) with fries, mac salad, meat sauce, onions and hot sauce. Yum! All in all, it was a good meal. Nothing to write home about but good and definitely unhealthy (who doesn't want artery clogging goodness at midnight?!) I will say that compared to Nick Tahoes, this isn't as good. But if you're in the Fairport area or just east of the city and Nick Tahoes is just too far, this is definitely a place to consider when the late night hunger strikes! I'll probably be back... maybe once or twice a year. My stomach can only handle so much unhealthy foods - age must be getting to me. read more

If you ever have fantasies about being a bum digging through garbage and finding your next meal in it, come here to get your kicks without gettin dirty or beat up by another homeless guy lookin for nourishment. It's funny that it's called a garbage plate but it's really a mishmash of summer picnic foods all on one plate. It's that simple yet it's pretty messy and very enjoyeable!! This really aughta be a sometimes meal as the calories from a frequent noshapalooza can quickly pile up. Watch out! Sometimes I dream about them offering grilled veggies thrown into the heap....maybe one day. It's also pretty carb heavy with the taters, mac salad and bread but they balance it out with a buncha greasy protein like burgers n dawgs which are hots in western NY. The white hot was invented up here and we Rochesterians just can't get enough! It's even the official food of The Buffalo Bills and besides all that, everyone I know loves em and this is a good place to get a white hot fix. Wow that sounds dirty! Anyways Fairport hots apparently got so busy they expanded to Penfield Hots and cest la vie, history is made. They are keeping up the tradition of Nick Tahoes, the OG of the garbage plate but it's nice that I don't hafta travel to the inner city to fill up on this type of fare. REVISED: I have now expanded my palate and tried the red hots version of the plate and I like it even more than the burger ones. This place has really good food.
