Everyone's allowed to have a bad day. In this case, our server seemed to be having one--perhaps they were just short-staffed. The food was good although delivered very late , and the environment is very nice. read more

DISASTER. What a mess this place is. Our order was wrong. Staff clearly doesn't want to be there. Food, mediocre. No manager on duty. Unorganized. I'll-prepared. Not clean. PASS, is my advice. Some cute places in Fairfax, Fairfax Cade is NOT one of them. If you were going to try this place, don't. You lol be happy for the heads up.I wish someone would have warned us.my husband had an upset stomach all afternoon. Wish I could give this place zero stars. read more

I decided to stop in for lunch after a long hike. I'm glad I did. The falafel wrap and fresh juice were amazing. Top notch all the way around. I can't wait to try the other items on the menu. read more

I am sitting out on Peri's patio as I write this. Completely content after wolfing down a pretty damn tasty sandwich at Fair Fix. Even the fresh ashtray right below my nose, getting stronger with every waft of wind, can't destroy my on point chicken sandwich high. Fair Fix is adorable. Open till 11:00 and serving up a pretty standard, but at the same time, high quality food in a warm, cozy, well lit cafe. The woman helping me behind the counter was friendly and patient, despite the kitchen closing up. In a matter of minutes, my spicy chicken sandwich on buttered phenomenal rye, was in my hands, in my mouth, in my stomach and most likely all over my clothes as well. Go to Fair Fix. Get a sandwich to Go. Then hit up the Fairfax open mic strip. Best Monday ever. Trust. read more

This place is the nnnnnnnnice. I come from out of town and after 4 months of sushi could really use something with the carbs. This place has a very geometrical structure which really adds to the flow of their delicious tea. See I know a little bit about zen as I have lived in Japan for the past 10 years, really not big deal. But as I was saying, there's always someone meditating on the couch or on a computer wiring money to charity it seems like. It's great to take a 4th place girl on a date here if you know what I mean. Overall, great zen, great rice, great vibe, great aroma, great flow. It has the flow of the sleeve of a wizard, it is truly the NNNNNNICE. read more

Easily the nicest employees I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Food is delicious, highly recommend the smoothies and the breakfast burrito!! Must try!! read more

My husband and I went here for breakfast. He ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich. I ordered waffles. The egg in the croissant sandwich had grey areas and was rubbery. The sausage was not very good, the actual croissant was decent. Over all, not the best sandwich as they cook the eggs in the microwave. My waffles we dark brown and crispy. Not quite burnt, but definitely overcooked. The fruit you could tell was old as the strawberries were soggy, off color and breaking down. I had ordered bacon, but they forgot them. That being said, the food was mostly edible, however, not enjoyable. read more

I used to like Fairfix more when I first got to know it in 2009... but times have changed. They seem to have revised some policies, where formerly free wifi is now at cost, and there is a persistent grime around the place, which may be from the food being cooked. It's an enjoyable neighborhood spot and has conveniently long hours. But their attention to customers and the cafe experience seems rushed rather than caring. read more

I usually go in here in the morning on the weekends for my break to get thier breakfast sandwich with sausage, and normally it is delicious, but not today. Today the sausage was LITERALLY paper thin. This is not the standard for this cafe, and I was very disappointed. read more

I went here as a stop from a drive through west marin. Generally I come to this cafe when I'm in Fairfax, but probably will look elsewhere next time. I ordered an Italian soda (raspberry/almond) and a blueberry muffin. The soda was good, but why did it take so long to pour? The muffin as more like a cornbread cupcake with flavorless frozen blueberries stirred in. Didn't hit my sweet spot on muffins. I especially didn't like the flies harassing me and competing for my food. WTF? read more

My main goal is to find a good place to work from, hence I rate my establishments based on wifi connectivity, comfort and laptop friendliness Pros: 1. Decent wifi connectivity 2. Comfortable seating 3. Adequate number of power outlets for laptops 4. Offers decent menu choices along with coffee and snacks 5. On a hot day, the main searing area is air conditioned so it can be a good respite from the heat 6. Small outdoor seating in the pack with power outlets Cons: 1. Does not take credit card 2. Can get crowded at lunchtime read more

We visited Fairfix Cafe on a holiday recently and enjoyed the outdoor seating which apparently was created due to the Covid restrictions on indoor dining. Very quaint and cute cafe. We shared their Mediterranean Platter, it was utterly delicious, and each had a bowl of soup, my wife their vegan green split pea, and myself, a wholly satisfying bowl of chicken soup that was served with bread and at my request, extra virgin olive oil for dipping. We have found a very reasonably priced go to restaurant that will bring us back to Fairfix again in the near future. I am dreaming of that delicious bowl of chicken soup as I write this review. Thank you Fairfix Cafe, keep up the great work by offering scrumptious food for all of us, see you soon! read more

So, Mike G., you take over Fairfix. Great. You are local, so are we. We support our local businesses. But why change it to make it an ordinary place when it was so "Fairfax"? I mean, different, fun, affordable... We were regulars since it opened. The person who created this place had a vision, and a good one, and it worked. The Mediterranean food and the staff, everything was perfect. Where is the Salade Nicoise? Where is the smiley, fun, and motivated staff? Fairfix is now just like any other place in San Rafael or Corte Madera. Same stuff, nothing original. What a shame! We are out. read more

If you want to be treated like crap this is your coffee shop. Unfriendly staff and inconsistent product. They didn't know how to make and iced latte. It's a coffee shop. If you speak to the staff they don't respond. We only came here because the coffee shop across the street was packed and this one was empty. Now we know why. read more

Very honest review and non-judgmental. We got a regular iced coffee and a house hot coffee and they tasted really bad. We took two sips of our coffee and threw them out. Service was also not very friendly. We also got two bagels which were pretty decent I think 3 stars is a more than fair review for our experience read more

FairFix Cafe has a primo location and the potential to be a great casual spot. Unfortunately, it's pretty sub-par. My husband and I stopped in for a quick salad, because Mas Masa was closed. The tables outside weren't bussed, (after waiting a few minutes, I bussed one myself) the employees inside seemed harried and put-out. The salads were mediocre. And they were out of knives? When I asked around, I heard the owner is never there. This is too bad. There is just too much foot traffic in Fairfax for an uninspired uninterested owner. Check out Creekside in San Anselmo. The owner is always there, the food is amazing, and the place is constantly hopping. FairFix needs the care it deserves... read more

So, there's no way I'd let all these folks not honor my favorite place to eat - HANDS DOWN! First of all, Fair Fix cafe is a slammin' coffee cafe/eatery. Yes, it's a small time business run establishment, which means that they might put heart and time into your food, which means you'll have to wait a little bit longer. And, it's not a place that caters to the "I have money so I expect to be served" place. You order at the counter, you sit, they let you know when your order is ready and you take your food, silverware and all to the table of your choice. If you feel like a full service dining experience, this is not the place. And, yes, if you want something a little extra (like the extra tomatoes on my salad I always ask for) you have to ask nicely. Whether or not you pay for the extra tomatoes has more to do with whether or not you've befriended the wonderful people behind the counters. I must admit, I'm biased, yes. I grew up in Fairfax and Fair Fix cafe was the place where we'd go sit and chill after we were already baked. It's where we used to go and play backgammon and talk all night. In a place like Fairfax, it's one of the only places where teens can hang out safely without their parents and not get into too much trouble. And, it's the place I still go to today for the best home made soups (my favorite is corn cilantro and chunky vegetable) and excellent salads. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly. I also really like the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet chili sauce on Bordenave's french bread. Admittedly, the staff gets the orders wrong every once in a while but, I've bene going there for over 10 years and it's only happened a handful of times, and it's usually just them forgetting to put the cheese on the sandwich like my boyfriend asked for. Nothing major and they always fix it. As for having "character", Fair Fix cafe has plenty of character. The people of Fairfax are what gives Fair Fix cafe its character. Yes, there've been new businesses that have popped up, but, Fairfax has still retained it's small-town charm, which I might add, cares nothing for catering to the mere passerbys. Fair Fix reflects the people of Fairfax, who as a population are probably more likely than other people to give you their last dollar if you were broke and stranded on the side of the road. They would probably give you a ride to the nearest gas station, or maybe even invite you into their home instead of just lending you their cell phone to call the local tow company. So what if you can't find a newspaper that isn't all neatly folded into squares and rectagles? If you haven't noticed, Fair Fix is one of those places where tree huggers, and hippis and bare feet (take that you germaphobes!) can still be welcome without judgment. Or, you'll find me there.... after a long day at the office in slacks, pumps and a blazer, enjoying my chai latte, bowl of soup and my favorite Harry Potter book. read more

Nice, down home, laid-back, and CHEAP place for lunching in Fairfax... Oh yeah.. also eclectic.. a loud friendly Hispanic staff, serving up Mediterranean-Middle Eastern plates to Marin County locals, many of who wander in dressed like *I* used to dress (for a brief period) in the Hippie-Dippie Sixties.. even though .. *they* couldn't possibly have been alive back then.. Oh.. Free Wifi ... so it's not quite like you're *really* going back in time.. read more

This place is terrible. The woman behind the counter is unbelievable. I ordered a Thai salad and a large bowl of soup ($5.50) and neglected to look inside the bag when I paid for it. When I got to my car, I glanced down and assumed they must have given me a small container of soup. I walked back in with it and the woman's attitude pretty much sucked. Safe to say, customer service is not her niche: Me: "I think you gave me a small container instead of the large." Woman: "Nope, that's our large. (blank stare) What do you want me to do about it?" Me: "I'm feeling a little ripped off with this tiny size and the price I paid for it." Woman: "Look, I just sell stuff here. The owner sets the prices, and if you want to complain, you'll need to call him directly." She tries to hand me the phone so that I can call in the middle of his restaurant and complain in front of the other customers (brilliant). Me: "No. I'll call him from home, give me his name and number." This is the unbelievable part....SHE DID! I walked out with his name and cell number. When I got home, I measured out the soup and it was exactly 1 ¼ cup of soup. She told me it was so expensive due to the amount of chicken in it. Nope...not enough chicken to justify this - tons of rice, celery and carrots though. I will never go back to this place due to the lack of customer service. Simply adding a small container of soup would have at least made me feel better and I would have left happy instead of ticked off (or ripped off). There are too many other nearby tasty places to visit to waste ones time and money here. read more

Fairfix café is one of those spots you just want to come back to again and again. There are multiple coffee shops in the half block radius, however, I seem drawn to this place instead. This place reminds me of Blue Front Café (http://www.yelp.com/biz/blue-front-cafe-san-francisco). Same great service, same great coffee, same ambiance. Funny thing is - when I come here I see the same people having breakfast who I saw the previous time I was here. That is probably because I only come here on Sundays on my way to the sandy run on the beach. I really love their smoothies. Try blueberry banana with coconut juice! Mmmmm. I wish it were Sunday already! read more

I think this place is really really great! I've been coming for years and it never disappoints! I love the grilled chicken sandwich and the avocado salad. They have a delicious chai frappe, way better than the coffee roasters down the street. They have a quaint outside patio and the food is served with a side of greens with peperancinis. The only thing is that the food is never really consistent.. The grilled chicken sandwich is my favorite! But I have gotten it many times and it's always different. Last time there was only one small tomato and one piece of lettuce on a half of the sandwich!! (See photo). Please add more to the sandwich if you charge about $9.00 for it. One little piece of tomato and lettuce isn't satisfying at all. read more

Dude!!! It's called a "vent fan" it's for venting the constant smell of onions and burnt toast that fills this place! Please get one! I swear your business will get even better because I often don't go here because spending an hour in here will make you smell just like the onions and burnt toast that fills the air, and I usually am not willing to smell like that... Otherwise this place rocks. Great mediterranean style food. Free WiFi. Fun people watching. Good music. Comfortable tables. It's perfect. Except for the smell! Don't believe me? The next time you're in downtown Fairfax stick your nose in the door. If it doesn't smell like burnt toast and onions, then I will change this review! It ALWAYS smells like that. Sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker, but sooner or later the cloud of stink will pass through the place and your clothes and hair will reek. Also, while you're at it, put some acoustical tiles in there. When the place is crowded it is SO noisy. Aroma cafe has acoustic tiles on the cieling to help muffle the reverb, the Fairfix would greatly benefit from the same thing. Otherwise, keep up the good work. (if I seem cranky in this review it's because I am in here right now and a cloud of onion smell just hit me so strongly -it's like someone is holding a bowl of chopped onions under my face) Fix the smell and the sound and you get 5 stars! read more

Wake up in Fairfax! Fair Fix Cafe is the New find for me! Relaxed "off campus college" feel with full bulletin board of local biz cards, good coffee and teas, healthy sandwiches and salads (good falafels!), sweets too lol! I found it looking for a place to catch a cup of coffee and check emails in the morning between appointments, and now it's kind of a regular spot to meet friends around a hike or bike ride too. So nice to find a local non chain place like this! read more

Great outdoor seating. And their Caprese sandwich is really good. The only downfall is that they do not take card.

These are the places that make me so appreciative of Yelp. I brought my (huge) family here as we were passing through, and they all wanted to know how I found it. There was something on the menu for everyone. We all sampled everyone's orders and there wasn't a single thing (out of ten different plates) that wasn't completely amazing. My Mediterranean Plate was better than Mediterranean Plates I have had IN the Mediterranean. Other favorites from our group were the Goat Cheese (seriously, I could eat it with a spoon) and a Caprese Sandwich. I wish I lived here so I could eat here every other day. So maybe the service isn't amazing, but... the food is so worth it, who cares?! If you've been to the Mediterranean... that's kind of standard anyway. Great food, straight-to-the-point service. I'd spend my last meal here, really. read more

It's fine. Serviceable breakfast/lunch spot along the main drag in Fairfax. The Fair Fix Melt is a satisfying hot sandwich fully composed of vegetables that'll satisfy even the most Viking-like meateater. That being said, there wasn't anything as far as quality, freshness, presentation, or decor that distinguishes this place among a street full of competition. Sit in the back patio if it's a nice day. read more

Amazingggggg fatoush salad! I absolutely love that salad. Their Mediterranean Vegi wrap is tasty too. When I was eating meat, their chicken sandwich on focaccia was my favorite dish too. Great little afternoon or evening hang. Yum, Fair Fix! We've been remodeling the kitchen for the past 2 months and have been dining out the entire time. Fair Fix is where we go when we need something green (i.e., salad). I order the same thing every time I go there: Mediterranean Plate, spinach pie and baklava. Mediterranean Plate is like the greatest hits of middle eastern food--hummus, dolmas, tabouleh and falafel staged around a green salad. We usually get it to go, but it's a fun place to people-watch, especially on a rainy day. read more
