The grounds are beautiful, I see why many people choose this spot for weddings and parties. The old ranch house is still owned by a descendent of Ignacio Pacheco - for whose family our town, some shopping centers, and a bunch of streets (including Rowland) in Marin are all named. We were there on a beautiful November day at an event remembering a friend who had recently passed. Even though the event itself was bittersweet, the management at the ranch did an exceptional job of making our visit memorable. The family provided parking assistance, led all the guests to the beautiful outdoor space, and kept the food and beverages flowing during the memorial. I will definitely think of Pacheco for our next event!

They are extremely responsive and I was able to coordinate everything via e-mail which helps given my hectic schedule. We made some itinerary changes on the day of the tour and Elena was extremely accommodating. The cheese and crackers were also a nice touch after several glasses of wine. i've been eating french at this location since about 1988. that's when i began to lease a small…read moreoffice on the second floor of the ross garage next door. the first proprietor was a british guy whose menu was basic bistro, not much in the way of originality but it was very well done indeed, maybe it was more what was once termed "continental". a solid 4* day in and day out, french cuisine as interpreted by a guy who grew up eating pork n beans for breakfast. a few years later, a young couple dan and holly moved in and changed the name from whatever it was to marche aux fleurs. the menu got a lot more interesting, never mind there were some initial hiccups. I began to eat lunch on the patio. this not so much because i like eating outside but the lovely holly usually served tables there... go figure. the food improved after a short period of adjustment, sometimes it lapsed but there were periods when if you wanted to see a menu in french, it was one of few, certainly, and best, perhaps, in marin... for what that's worth. then for various important reasons i completely forgot about the place, until a few weeks ago when i needed something new. here's the impression i came away with: get a reservation for sure on weekends. prepare to only understand only about half of what your dinner companion says because the tables are crowded and the room acoustics are terrible. pay attention to the european wines on the list because they're good and reasonably priced. the appetizers are well done, especially liked some kind of thing done with avacado of all things. i didn't like the cassoulet, the stew was crowded into a smaller kind of crockery with a huge piece of undercooked cabbage occupying almost half of the volume. the fish on the other hand was very good. service was very friendly, but not nearly enough for the number of diners, unless the problem was in the kitchen... slow maybe? overall, i'd say give it another try.

I had the opportunity to try two of Terry Leighton's amazing wines at lunch today....the 1998…read moreLivermore Valley Semillon and 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay)...I am hooked!!! Of which there is no other!! Both wines were grown at Wente in Livermore Valley. I had them at Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard, in downtown Livermore. The 1998 Semillon was thick and silky, very complex with a breadth that one does not expect....start, middle and finish were distinctly different!! I tasted melon, grass and anise...but they said fig?? Either way, an uniquely full and rich wine. By far my favorite wine to date!! The 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay) was also thick and silky, but had more butter, spice, and a fruit...perhaps very ripe pineapple. Remarkable!! Proof positive that good whites age nicely!! This wine may not be for everyone, it is not the usual crisp, light bright type, but for a rich complex wine, it takes the prize!!! Kudos to Uncle Yu's for having such an amazing wine selection!!
