From the…read morebeginning, Deb and Herb Rowland, the owners, were so thoughtful and gracious; an absolute pleasure to work with. We loved that Deb provided great resources for vendors she has worked with, but that she is also flexible and willing to work with others you want to bring in. They clearly take so much pride in what they do and it absolutely shows in the warm and personal experience you have at Pacheco. The property is adorned with citrus trees and flowering vines, beside the hillside vineyards, waterfall stream and the lovely old farmhouse. It's tucked into a small valley, protected from the wind. In the evening, strings of bistro lights make the dining and dance area twinkly and romantic. Our guests loved the space and kept commenting on how beautiful, relaxing and unique it was. Deb answered all of our questions leading up to the event very helpfully and provided a site plan to help vendors understand where to install things like the tables, dance floor, bar and buffet. We really appreciated how responsive she was and how willing to troubleshoot any unexpected issues. Beyond which, she and Herb and their employee Ann are so sweet and fun to be around. We're very happy we picked Pacheco as our wedding venue. If you're looking for somewhere personal, beautiful and one of a kind to tie the know, you will love it too.

The grounds are beautiful, I see why many people choose this spot for weddings and parties. The old ranch house is still owned by a descendent of Ignacio Pacheco - for whose family our town, some shopping centers, and a bunch of streets (including Rowland) in Marin are all named. We were there on a beautiful November day at an event remembering a friend who had recently passed. Even though the event itself was bittersweet, the management at the ranch did an exceptional job of making our visit memorable. The family provided parking assistance, led all the guests to the beautiful outdoor space, and kept the food and beverages flowing during the memorial. I will definitely think of Pacheco for our next event!

They are extremely responsive and I was able to coordinate everything via e-mail which helps given my hectic schedule. The atmosphere and cuisine are equally alluring, feeling nearly oasis-like in a patio just off the main drag in Ross. The dining room is sleek and welcoming, and feels like a portal to somewhere Mediterranean. The Roasted Whole Cauliflower was my man draw and it was an absolute knockout. It was consistently cooked so it didn't suffer from a raw interior, a common fault in this kind of dish. Meanwhile, every ingredient contributed to a fantastic flavor. Usually, I doubt how much I can actually distinguish more than one or two flavors at once, but in this case, the beet hummus, currants, duqqa and zhoug worked harmoniously, with perfect ratios between them. This dish is the kind of standout offering I hope to revisit often. Whole heads of cauliflower and cauliflower steaks are almost a cliche as far as vegetarian entrees go, but this one defies all tropes, inventive and delicious throughout. I will probably be back because this is a staple spot in Marin but they need to step up their flavor game!

I had the opportunity to try two of Terry Leighton's amazing wines at lunch today....the 1998…read moreLivermore Valley Semillon and 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay)...I am hooked!!! Of which there is no other!! Both wines were grown at Wente in Livermore Valley. I had them at Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard, in downtown Livermore. The 1998 Semillon was thick and silky, very complex with a breadth that one does not expect....start, middle and finish were distinctly different!! I tasted melon, grass and anise...but they said fig?? Either way, an uniquely full and rich wine. By far my favorite wine to date!! The 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay) was also thick and silky, but had more butter, spice, and a fruit...perhaps very ripe pineapple. Remarkable!! Proof positive that good whites age nicely!! This wine may not be for everyone, it is not the usual crisp, light bright type, but for a rich complex wine, it takes the prize!!! Kudos to Uncle Yu's for having such an amazing wine selection!!
