Worse decision ive made was choosing this company to build my home patio. This has been a terrible experience. I wanted a patio and Glen showed up, we went over the details, purchased the pavers, and they got to work. Communication was solid. I would call, they would answer. During the project, they requested 3 payments. 1 before the start, 1 during, and 1 once they were done. I complied. Provided all the payments on time. $11300 in total. This is when things took a turn for the worse. They received all of their payments; therefore, customer service is thrown out the window at this point. Before starting on the patio, I provided them with my home plat and they were supposed to return it... I have not gotten it back. They lost it. We started the patio in the Spring of 2021. I wish I had gone with another company. This has been so terrible. I've had some issues with my patio, as weeds were growing in between the pavers, the landing, the steps, handles have been deteriorating, the painting was horribly done, everything has been a mess. I called 10000s of times - nothing. However, randomly, when pigs would be seen in the sky, the office manager would pick up my calls, commit to fixing the patio and return my plat, but after I would hang up and patiently wait for the contractor she mentioned would show up to fix the patio issues, I would hear and see nothing. I would call back to confirm if there was a mixup, nothing. They gave me 10 years for the warranty. What good is 10 years if I have had my patio for 2 years and they've ghosted me the whole time? I feel like im in the twilight zone. I drove to their office 2x. Nobody was there although the door was open. I have been trying to resolve my patio issues, and get my plat back since Summer of 2021. I think I would have had more success trying to find bigfoot. This is terrible. I would not recommend this company. You are better off with anyone else. Trust me. I have to fix my patio. But it's gonna cost me more money. Im doing damage control at this point. If I only knew... I could have gone with a different contractor and they would have done the job right from the beginning. Terrible company. Save your piece of mind. Save your headache. Go with ANY OTHER COMPANY. I dont want anything but to fix my patio. I paid for the service. Honor the warranty. Honor the service. I got pictures as evidence for what I've shared. Have fun looking thru them :)

    Rust

I had metal railings put in 2020 for 2 sets of outside steps. I have called multiple times during the pandemic to let the company know I see rust on the railings. I never got a return call. Then about 9 weeks ago I finally got a hold of a lady who said something about being overbooked so it will take a few weeks for someone to come out. I was told she would call me back to schedule . I never got a call. I called back again and left a few messages , as usual no one returned my call . I finally got a hold of the same lady on the phone and she said someone is finishing up a job he will come and she will call me to schedule. The same nonsense of not hearing from her went on. I called again and she said her worker is getting his covid injection and will be out a few days !!!!! Finally she scheduled me for Tuesday of this week. I waited and waited and called at least 5 times no one picked up or showed up. I called around 330pm and got a hold of that same lady who said he is on his way and will be at my house in 1 hour .... It is 2 days later. I've left multiple messages with no response . Don't waste your money on this company. There is no reason why small companies like this should get away with poor workmanship and customer service. I wish I never wasted my time or money with Fairfax Contractors. When they come to get your business it's all about their quality and product . After giving them thousands of dollars it's over . That's when the customer service ends !

New damage to mortar following power-washing

I paid $3,500 for work performed by Fairfax Contractor on 2/18/2019 that was to include repairing my front steps and porch, removing and replacing damaged bricks, ensuring grout lines were uniform, and tuck-pointing the entire stairway including the sides, using color-matched mortar. The job was to include acid-washing afterwards. The work was to have a 1-year warranty. The tuck-pointing was not as complete as I had expected, but the color seemed to match well enough. Within a few days after the tuck-pointing was completed, the mortar began efflorescing severely. Efflorescence is the exuding of salts or minerals from a brick or grout surface as mineral-laden moisture exits the surfaces. A small amount of efflorescence is normal, but this was more than a little, and it persisted after a large snow storm and several rainfalls. Over the months to follow, various representatives from Fairfax Contractor expressed contradictory positions, including (1) an assertion that the workers had added salt to the mortar because of doing the work in cold weather, (2) a denial that salt had been added, (3) an assertion that this much efflorescence is unusual, and (4) a denial that this much efflorescence was unusual. Regardless of the cause, the grout needed to match in order to be in compliance with my HOA's guidelines, so a fix was needed. After emailing photos taken on 2-25-2019 and 3-13-2019, and making several phone calls, Fairfax Contractor finally got around to sending someone on 4-6-2019 to acid-wash and power-wash the bricks. While the power-washing was still underway, I noticed that the power-washing was particularly aggressive and was further damaging the brick on the stairway, and even on some areas that shouldn't have been power-washed. I immediately called Fairfax Contractor (twice), and they assured me that someone would come out right away and take a look at the damages; however, there was no follow-up, and the damages are still evident. I called again several times, including calls on 4-17-2019, 5-16-2019, 6-5-2019, 8-19-2019, 10-7-2019, 10-26-2019, and 10-27-2019. During these calls, the owner, Glenn, provided apologies and promises to have someone do the work soon or in the following week. Sometimes he gave a date for the work to be completed, but there's no evidence that anyone ever showed up. It is now November, and the temperatures are again too low for doing outdoors repairs with mortar. I believe Fairfax Contractor failed to properly supervise the work. My greatest frustration is their failure to address in a timely manner the damages caused by the power-washing, which included damage to the brick surfaces and new holes in the new mortar and old mortar in areas that weren't part of the original job. I feel like I gave them many "second chances" to make it right, and they did not do so.

I'm leaving this review to share a balanced but honest account of my experience. While the end…read moreresult of the project was acceptable, the process was far more complicated and frustrating than it needed to be. The sales interaction set the tone with high‑pressure tactics, including statements like "this price is only available today." We moved forward anyway because we knew we wanted the work done. When I later asked to adjust the scope, the salesperson resisted for nearly ten minutes before agreeing to send a revised contract. The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. The final work met expectations, but the overall experience involved unnecessary sales pressure, communication challenges, and multiple days off work for corrections and inspections.

My experience with JES Repair was frustrating and ultimately disappointing…read more The project itself was completed on schedule, but the quality and planning of the work left a lot to be desired. The beam repairs appear to have been completed in the easiest way possible, with little consideration for the work that would need to happen afterward. The crew cut the subfloor approximately three inches away from the walls and left it unsupported. As a result, my flooring contractor had to tear out two sections of flooring and replace the entire subfloor in those areas because the necessary repairs were never addressed during the original project. Even more frustrating, JES only opened a limited section of the floor instead of exposing the entire affected area. Once the flooring contractor had everything opened up, additional damaged wood was discovered that now requires even more repairs. Since JES was already working in that area, it is difficult to understand how these issues weren't identified or why the floor wasn't opened far enough to properly inspect the entire section. Addressing everything while the area was already exposed would have saved significant time, cost, and disruption. The inspection process was another major disappointment. The county inspection failed and was rescheduled without anyone from JES informing me ahead of time. I was then told that no one from JES would attend the reinspection and that it was between me and the county. As a homeowner, I'm not a contractor and shouldn't be expected to answer technical questions or represent the company's work to the building inspector. I hired JES expecting professional workmanship, thorough planning, and support through the entire process. Instead, I've been left coordinating additional repairs, paying for work that could have been avoided, and handling inspection issues that should have been managed by the contractor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend JES Repair. UPDATE (07/08/2026): I connected with the resolution team and are working through the issues in a positive and constructive manner.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/18pPnhHNvgP4zQYoVnJO3QH2wNIMW9iCe/view?usp=drivesdk…read more ONE STAR -- HOMEOWNERS SHOULD BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS BEFORE HIRING VALUE DRY Value Dry's response is long on personal attacks and remarkably short on answers to its own written documents. I stand by my review. My experience with Value Dry Waterproofing was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, professionally and ethically unacceptable. I hired Value Dry for approximately $12,000 of foundation, masonry, sill/bearing, debris-removal, and structural-support work associated with getting my house properly back onto its foundation. I paid approximately $8,000. The agreed work was not completed. The most important facts are not allegations. They come from Value Dry's own written communications. JULY 13, 2026: Value Dry President James Ketterer met with me and prepared a written agreement addressing work that still remained. JULY 14, 2026: Mr. Ketterer put the remaining work in writing, including: * Installation of two Lally columns * Removal of the existing block columns and associated debris * Patching 12 openings with block/cement * Removal of concrete debris He also wrote that Value Dry was "working to bring your project to completion as agreed to in the agreements dated 6/20 and 7/13/2026." Those are Value Dry's words. Mr. Ketterer also acknowledged in writing that Value Dry's employee had not followed the proper change-order procedure. He explained that the unforeseen work and associated costs should have been detailed in writing and presented to me for my signature before proceeding. That admission is important. During the project, demolition and foundation-related work had already occurred when I was subsequently told that another approximately $1,500 would be required to restore openings. I disputed that charge because I had not approved it beforehand and asked Value Dry to explain in writing why that work supposedly fell outside the original agreement. This is exactly why written change orders exist. A homeowner should not be placed in a position where part of the house has already been opened or demolished and only afterward be confronted with an additional charge that was never approved in advance. Value Dry's Vice President of Operations subsequently confirmed that a crew was scheduled to return on July 21 to continue the work. Then something changed. JULY 17, 2026: Before the scheduled return date arrived, Mr. Ketterer canceled Value Dry's return, stated that Value Dry would perform no additional work, and declared that the payments already received represented adequate compensation for "the work completed." Those words matter. He did not say that all agreed work had been completed. In fact, only three days earlier, Value Dry had specifically identified work that still remained and stated that it was working to bring the project to completion. That is the central contradiction Value Dry should explain. Instead, its public response attacks me personally, discusses another contractor, speculates about my motives, and characterizes my communications as "harassment." None of that answers the documents. If Value Dry is going to publicly accuse a customer of threatening its president, then it should state exactly what was allegedly said, when it was allegedly said, who witnessed it, and what contemporaneous documentation supports the accusation. Yes, the July 13 discussion became heated. I have acknowledged that. But what happened afterward is highly significant: Value Dry still memorialized an agreement, identified remaining work in writing, acknowledged a failure in its change-order process, scheduled a crew to return, and continued discussing completion of the project. That documented sequence is difficult to reconcile with the dramatic characterization Value Dry is now presenting publicly. Value Dry also suggests that I demanded work beyond its obligations. Again, its own July 14 written communication says otherwise regarding the columns, openings, demolition, and debris work that Value Dry itself specifically identified as remaining. Value Dry further claims that the amount of money it retained was "fair and reasonable." Then provide the accounting. Show: * The total amount Value Dry retained * The work actually completed * The labor attributable to that completed work * The materials attributable to that completed work * The value assigned to each completed item * The work Value Dry acknowledged remained unfinished * The value assigned to that unfinished work Calling an amount "fair and reasonable" is not the same thing as demonstrating that it was fair and reasonable. Maryland Judiciary Case Search also publicly displays numerous court case entries involving VALUE DRY LLC / Value Dry Waterproofing over a period of years. To be clear, the existence of a court case does not itself establish wrongdoing, and I am not claiming that every case was decided against Value Dry. Anyone inte
