Really cool park with room to skateboard and with lessons to (but at a price). I was here to play baseball but we stopped to look at the castle and the slides that everyone was talking about. Ample parking and a fairly safe area with good weather. The water park wasn't working but it looked cool. Huge field and skateboard park that's well maintained. 4 stars in my book. read more

Yay! The New Magical Bridge has finally arrived. Even though I think I'm the first to post about this, the word is definitely out, as the place was paaaacked this past weekend. Magical Bridge is an all-abilities playground that features safe slides, soft turf, multiple types of swings, spinning things, sway boat, quiet dome spaces. While this one also has a big castle/house, tot lot, and a little water feature like the others, it lacks the awesome musical equipment that the Redwood City and Palo Alto ones have. It's completely enclosed. There is a big tree in the middle, with plenty of places to sit under the shad, but otherwise the playground is quite sunny. Bathrooms: multiple bathrooms around the park, including one right outside the enclosed area that has unisex stalls and changing stations Water fountains throughout the park as well, with the water bottle refilling options. Other park features: huge, what appears recently re-turfed ginormous field for baseball, cricket, soccer etc (no dogs allowed on the field) Basketball courts available. There are tennis courts but those belong to King's Academy There is a paved path all around the field that is 0.45 miles. Good for walking/biking/scootering Dogs : you could walk you dog around the field along the paved path There is signage that dogs are not allowed on the humongous field I didn't see any specific signage about no dogs in the playground area, but dogs are generally not allowed at Magical Bridge playgrounds Parking was absolutely nuts on the weekend. This is a nice big giant park. They had several soccer games going on and was packed today. There were several stalls selling food and drinks and it felt like we were at a carnival. In terms of the park itself, there's a lot of parking and plenty of space and the bball courts were new and well maintained. Plus check out the Magic Playground which is inside as well. read more

This is always my favorite park to visit in the area. This park has plenty of space for outdoor sports on their fields, group gatherings at the barbecue area and play equipment for kids. I love how clean it is here, I never really see any trash on the ground and people always tend to pick up their pet waste. read more

I think this park is okay if you only plan to be here during the day when it's bright and sunny. It has a lot going for it with its huge fields for soccer, baseball, and everything in between. There's a skate park for scooters and skateboards (a sign prohibits bikes), short walking trails, and basketball courts. I've only really been here in the evenings for basketball. One great thing is that there are lights on the court. There's a button you can press periodically to let the system know that you're still playing. If the lights do wind up turning off, there's a short start up period of a few minutes before they come back on. There's a few benches inside the courts for spectators and to take a break on. The only thing is that this park gets kind of sketchy at night. There are a lot of homeless people digging through the trash and such. There are areas that have a tendency to smell like urine (possibly human) as well so I'd suggest watching where you step or set up for a picinic. read more

Surprisingly large and grassy for being located right next to a busy street, this park also serves as Hobo Central. I can't remember going to this park and not seeing a police officer talking to a questionable-looking fellow. No, I've never seen them apprehend a woman. I suppose not too many shady ladies hang out here. The first time I ever went here, a dude was passed out on the grass by the picnic tables and the police were interviewing the dude's friend (mellow fellow, not shady lady). Somehow this hasn't prevented me from returning for a stroll. PERKS: ----------- (+) Huge open grassy field that serves as a soccer field or rolling grounds for dogs. (+) Sporty park: decently sized basketball courts, 2 baseball diamonds, turf soccer field, grass soccer field, skate park. (+) Playground area near the front. (+) Well-maintained and relatively clean, other than the characters. The drinking fountains look clean and there are garbage cans at various positions in the park. DIRTS: ---------- (-) Shady characters tend to chill at the picnic tables, which aren't too far from the playground area. Yikes! (-/+ ??) You might see people getting appreheneded and/or arrested. Typically not a positive experience but some readers may enjoy that kind of thing. Overall, a beautiful park with good provisions, as long as you don't mind the Mellow Fellows (and maybe someday Shady Ladies). TIP: Just mind your own business and have a good time. Could be more pleasant if you bring a companion with you. DATE TIP: Not the most romantic, unless you enjoy watching people get arrested. read more

I brought my kids to the playground here last weekend and won't be planning a return trip anytime too soon. The playground equipment itself is okay -- older but in good condition -- but it's located about 20 feet from a busy street. As to environment, we got to enjoy a fair bit of garbage in the sand area and the company of 4-5 homeless guys working on a trash can fire at the adjacent picnic area. True, this was my only visit and we may have picked a bad day... but hey, I've got a lot of other parks to choose from on the Peninsula. read more

This is one of the smaller parks in Sunnyvale, the park offers two large softball fields, three basketball courts, multiple benches and BBQ pits, a playground, and two large parking lots. I come here about 5 days a week to watch my sons football practice and aside from the group undesirables in the BBQ area and the two port-a-potty's that never seem to get emptied this park is pretty clean. At night the stadium lights come on to keep the field lit and the athletes from getting hurt. The SVPD if here quite often to shoo away the homeless but they just return after the police leave. They don't really seem to bother anyone aside from the peeing in bushes and the loud Banda music that's playing from the front of some guys bike that has been rigged with a power wheels battery and some duct tape. Overall its a good environment and sits close to the heart of the city, I'd recommend this place for some good B Ball games or a weekend BBQ but I'd be weary of walking through this place late at night unless your from the area. read more

This park is great. There are 2 baseball fields, a giant grass area between them, a skate park attached, a partially reservable picnic area, a playground, and a fenced basketball area with lights available till around 11 pm (?) with three courts. There are often dogs playing or being walked, but no dog area. There is one lathe parking lot off Fair Oaks/ Wolfe. However, over by the basketball courts many people park on an unpaved lot across from King's Academy (school). There are no bathrooms available to my knowledge, but I haven't really looked. Zero stars if I could give any. There was a review from two years ago that asked the question is this a park or an outdoor homeless shelter? And the answer, it is still an outdoor homeless shelter. It has grown to proportions the size of a hoarders paradise. How is this city run park allowing this to happen? As a homeowner I would be fined & jailed for having one quarter of the mess of this on my front lawn. I can understand a tent and a bicycle times four as a homeless encampment and if it's clean and picked up because they have no place else to go that's perfectly fine with me. But this trash dump that the city has allowed to exist is intolerable. It needs to be cleaned up, the health department should be notified & the city should pay a fine for allowing this to happen. Divide it among the tax payers. My tax dollars should not be used to run a park that puts people's health at risk. read more

This is one of the best places to play basketball in the South Bay. It has 3 courts all in decent condition. There are also lights, so you can play in the evenings. During busy times, you can find good pick up games. If you're thirsty, there are some drinking fountains near the BBQ area. Fair Oaks Park has a lot more than basketball courts (but that's all I go for). There is a baseball field, a huge grass field (big enough for soccer or football), a skatepark, and a BBQ area with tables. read more

For the basketball courts only: 3 full-court basket ball courts. The rims stand up pretty well and most them still have the nets on them. There are frequent games going on here but I've never had a problem getting a court which is surprising. It would be nice if they had a water fountain near the courts so you can refill your water bottle after a hard game of ball. read more

I used to go here almost every week for Sunday afternoon basketball, but ever since my friend dived for a loose ball and ended up in the ER, I've yet to go back. He was trying to save the ball as it was going out-of-bounds, ended up slipping on the crap that falls from the trees nearby, and barely avoided hitting his head on a bench. He landed face first on the ground, his arm went under the chain link fence, and he cut up the entire right side of his face. Not a pretty sight: blood intermixed with dirt clotting and congealing into open face wounds and random pieces of skin flapping in the wind. Six hours later, he emerged from the ER with stitches, yellow bandages, antibiotic ointments, and a prescription for vicodin. Other than the little pieces of tree crap all over the baseline areas of the three courts, it's actually a nice place to ball, with paved courts and room for those who just came to watch or are taking a break. The lights come on when it starts to get dark. Downside is that since there are only three courts, it can get crowded. Once, the middle court was taken up by some kind of Hispanic league, complete with whistling referee dressed in an official-looking uniform and a soft drink vendor for the spectators. Unfortunately, when there are a lot of people, there tend to be little kids roaming around freely just waiting to get run over by ballers concentrating only on their game. read more

The park overall is nice. Has nice set ups for bbq's, great place for kids and pets. A skate park for all those skaters, bikers and bladers. The sun hits this place pretty well too, gets all hazy when the sun is setting. Trying to play sports? Coming here is cool, surrounded by a chill neighborhood and close access to a plaza. Just finished spending 3 hours at this park and it remains great! The family bbq environment is very friendly and with plenty of green grass to run around, this park is never crowded. The basketball courts are great, although there is only one decent one (hence why it is 4 stars) but the nets and floor of the tennis and basketball courts are well maintained. ONLY RATING THE PLAYGROUND AREA OF PARK: children will love parks regardless. my son is no exception, he loves this park (well the 2 times i took him). I was concerned the first time we went there because its proximity to a very busy street (although it does seem closer than it really is but if you've got a runner, any busy street is dangerous). first visit: son had tons of fun, and i enjoyed playing with him...although i felt uncomfortable with the 2 dirty looking men openly smoking illegal substances (no it wasnt m.j. it was something else) in the nearby picnic area....there also seems to be a water feature that either hasnt worked in a very long time or is only a pretend water feature..lol second visit: maybe the 2 goss men from teh other day were just passing thru exactly the same day so we give the park a second try. no scary, crack smokers to be seen...but now im paranoid that there might be a lot of drugs going on in this park, so it dampers my interaction with my son, as im constantly scanning the dirt for needles or something scary like that.... and def keep away from the shrubs.... so decide to end our play time early (i couldnt find myself to enjoy it with him although aj seemed to be having a blast), as we packed up in the car to head to another park, 2 women were parked in the next stall to me (we are the only cars in the area this day) and they are talking about finding copper, and something about wires as they were openly smoking weed. lol. their m.j habit did not erk me, it was their talk about copper and their open discussion about illegal activities involving copper that sealed the deal for me... this is not the playground for me and my kid. both vistis: there was an unpleasant amount of trash around the play area/in the sand. it wasnt a lot but enought to make one lose confidence in this park (for me anyways). such a shame.... i wouldve still considered this a park to go to had it not been those 4 suspicious characters in our first 2 visits. read more

Basketball Review Only: 3 full courts of ball in a caged off area, what more can you ask for? Always people running games, some good competition out there. I haven't been there for awhile, can't remember if all the courts were double rim or not. Double rim is always a bitch. They have some BBQ pits nearby too. Lights on til the night, think it ends at around 10pm-ish. For ballin in the South Bay, I'll hit this park up or Campbell park or Flickinger. read more

The issue that I have with this park is the fact that it is by a busy street and there isn't a gate around the playground. There are bushes and there is a bit of a run that the kids would have to make, but 3 year olds are quicker than you think! My kids like playing here and watching the skaters at the skate park, but there are other parks that are gated with newer toys. read more

NICE basketball courts! If you wanna play pick up basketball 5 on 5 this is the place to go.when the lights go out the ballers come out. The skill level isent that high also! I went on a tuesday night and there was 60 ppl there! Also they have Sunnyvale skate park which is just about the only skate park in the south bay. It's not what it used to be. There used to be tennis courts here, which is sorely missed. But it's a decent size. You can have picnics or bbq's at the outside tables or private parties in the building. You can play a variety of sports, like basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and horseshoe. There's also a skate park, which I think is pretty neat. We tried to bocce on the field, and it wasn't bad. Close to home and fairly clean. read more

Great Skatepark! Fun for young and old...beginner to pro. Skateshop (Fish Banks) right across the street makes life nice as well. Lots of green area to relax with friends and enjoy a BBQ too. if you're in the area, or not, take some time and hit up the Skatepark here. read more
