Here is what unfolded recently ... My vacation home is a 150 miles away from my main home and I am hardly ever there. So I had to trust Ben completely when he said that he had replaced the well pump motor and that the well was now in good working order. Ben was not happy when I asked if it was okay to pay him in several days giving me time to verify the wells status. His previous temporary fix a week earlier didn't work at all, so I was a bit reluctant to pay this time without checking it out. Despite my hesitancy, he demanded that I pay him immediately via a credit card. So I paid in full based on what I believed was his honorable reputation. The well did work for a couple of watering cycles, but 2-3 weeks later it failed once again. Ben went out to investigate and stated that it was a minor issue and that he would fix it in couple weeks. About 2.5 weeks later, with temps close to 100 degrees and a lot of dying plants, I called Ashley his assistant to convey some urgency. She assured me that he would be out in a few days to make the repairs. Needless to say, he never showed up, nor were any of my increasingly desperate calls to his office ever returned.

Our well opens into a sulphur deposit and what makes our water potable is a filtration unit that pulls out hydrogen sulfide (and iron) as our domestic water runs through it. This is the far less common way to treat that horrible smell, we know, but for now, it's what we've got ...Or had, until it blinked out first thing on a Saturday morning (of course). Fast forward to Monday morning. We tried to contact the company who installed it, but they'd sold off that part of their business. So, we called that company, left a message and didn't hear back from them. On Tuesday, we used their online appointment setting form and someone did come out on Wednesday morning. They readily admitted they didn't know anything about these filtration units which didn't surprise us as none of the well companies we'd previously dealt with did. But they told us they'd research them and figure out how to fix ours, assuring us they understood the critical situation we were in. When we hadn't heard back from them by Friday afternoon--now almost a week without potable water-- my wife suggested I reach out on the Anza Bulletin Board Facebook group, which is undoubtedly the best idea she has ever had because someone in the group suggested Ron Coleman of Artesian Water Well and Filtration Services. I looked at the company's profile page and it, in fact, listed sulphur removal system repair as one of the services they offer. Also, unbelievably, it stated 24/7 service. So, on a Sunday afternoon, on a whim of desperation, I called and left a message fully expecting not to hear back--despite what they advertised--till the next day. Wrong. I got a call back a couple of hours later and after explaining the problem to Ron, he agreed to come out for a look on Monday. On Monday, he came out to inspect the problem, contacted his supplier, tried to get a rebuild kit to save us some money. On Tuesday, the rebuild kit for that model having been discontinued, he drove out to Ontario to pick up the necessary replacement part. On Wednesday, he installed it. On Thursday, he called to make sure everything was ok (which, happily, it was). And that other well company, the one we first contacted? We still haven't heard back from them. Ron and I had a chance to chat for a few minutes and it's clear he knows a few things. He knows how to show up when he says he will. He knows how to go above and beyond to make his clients happy. He knows how to be honest, courteous and respectful and to treat water emergencies like the emergencies they are. And he's also pretty darn good a fixing stuff. Here's the thing. There are some well companies out there that somehow manage to keep themselves in business, (God only knows how). There are some good, reputable companies out there to be sure. And then there is Artesian, which as far as I'm concerned, is in a class all by itself.

It's now been a 5 days since the no show and they still haven't contacted me. Needless to say they are in breech of contract and thus won't be doing any work for me. I'm actually really glad they're so unreliable with such horrible customer service because the company I spoke to 4 days ago after their last no show came today and did the job for HALF the price So Cal Well quoted, literally half the price. Call them if you want but they aren't reliable or affordable.

Recently, I had them come out because I suspected termites in one of our rafter tails. To their credit, they correctly identified that specific spot as just fungus and didn't try to oversell me on treatments I didn't need. However, their inspection was incredibly brief. They spent only a few minutes scanning the house, didn't check the attic at all, and gave us the all-clear. A couple of days later, I had a second company come out for another look. They spent almost an hour doing a thorough inspection and found a severe termite infestation in a different rafter tail that was almost entirely hollowed out. They spotted the signs right through the paint. Green Flash completely missed this. On top of the missed inspection, the wood rot repairs Green Flash did for us 5 years ago (costing about $1,200) have both failed and need to be redone. They spliced a rafter tail that is now loose, and it turns out they miscut a replacement barge board on the back of the house. To cover up the bad cut, they glued a scrap piece of wood over it, which has since detached and is currently hanging off the board. Bottom line: They failed to do a thorough termite inspection, and their carpentry work doesn't hold up. I highly recommend getting a second opinion on their inspections and hiring a dedicated specialist for any actual wood repairs.

"How did this ever happen??!", noticing a buttonhole that needed a small amount of repair. She automatically took the shirts and hung them up on her to-do rack making it somewhat uncomfortable for me to say thanks, but no thanks. It was then I wanted to know how much the bill would be, and she replied $24. I then grabbed the shirts off of her rack and bid her a good day. I have seen this same tactic used at different types of repair shops where the owner overly dramatizes what needs to be done and takes possession of the item prior to discussing the charge or getting approval. In sales that's called the assumptive close, where they act as though they assume you will approve the work and pay their price for the very minimal effort required. Don't fall for it. I have just now received a response from the lady's husband indicating that I must have visited a different shop and mistakenly thought I was in theirs. Absolutely not possible as I've been in several times in the past. Perhaps showing the shirts will refresh her memory and also defend my own. For full disclosure, the green shirt does have a small half-inch rip on the back side.

This company has an outstanding reputation with the So Cal valley and their customer service was phenomenal! The review from Josette is not about this company, she was mistaken and did not do her research on the company names before posting her review. She was reviewing Fain Pump, which is NOT in Business anymore. Dave, the VP, is so knowledgeable of all aspects of water wells, and the Pump manager Ben is very responsive when it comes to pump repairs. I called him after finding him online and asked if he could help with a wire and plastic clog in my well. after a few weeks he came out and gave me a quote. was unbelievable expensive but I had no choice since all the other well drilling companies were booked out months. he had me call him every week for literally 2 months. always another excuse and story about this and that with another job etc. he kept putting me off but in the meantime every 3 weeks I have to fill up my water tank while I have no well. I had to do this twice at $260 every time. mind you he also told me to have a huge water run off pit dug which cost me money out of pocket as well. I call the main line after he stops answering and calling me back. I get his son on the phone and he tells me he went on vacation to taxas. i'm like wow this guy is a real character and has no urgency for my emergency whatsoever. so he says ill have him call you when he gets back. I never heard from rick again. only to hear back from his son several weeks later, explaining that they are too busy and they cant help me cause they are afraid something might go wrong. who does that????? Rick Aspin does that. String you along and then bam no help in the end. its like hes on his way out of the business and doesn't want to take any challenges on or something. smh, all I can say is I did some research and it looks like I'm not the only one that has had issues here. go to water-well-info.com and look up rick aspin. wish I had known this before I contacted and wasted my time and money. When we hadn't heard back from them by Friday afternoon--now almost a week without potable water-- my wife suggested I reach out on the Anza Bulletin Board Facebook group, which is undoubtedly the best idea she has ever had because someone in the group suggested Ron Coleman of Artesian Water Well and Filtration Services. I looked at the company's profile page and it, in fact, listed sulphur removal system repair as one of the services they offer. Also, unbelievably, it stated 24/7 service. So, on a Sunday afternoon, on a whim of desperation, I called and left a message fully expecting not to hear back--despite what they advertised--till the next day. Wrong. I got a call back a couple of hours later and after explaining the problem to Ron, he agreed to come out for a look on Monday. On Monday, he came out to inspect the problem, contacted his supplier, tried to get a rebuild kit to save us some money. On Tuesday, the rebuild kit for that model having been discontinued, he drove out to Ontario to pick up the necessary replacement part. On Wednesday, he installed it. On Thursday, he called to make sure everything was ok (which, happily, it was). And that other well company, the one we first contacted? We still haven't heard back from them. Ron and I had a chance to chat for a few minutes and it's clear he knows a few things. He knows how to show up when he says he will. He knows how to go above and beyond to make his clients happy. He knows how to be honest, courteous and respectful and to treat water emergencies like the emergencies they are. And he's also pretty darn good a fixing stuff. Here's the thing. There are some well companies out there that somehow manage to keep themselves in business, (God only knows how). There are some good, reputable companies out there to be sure. And then there is Artesian, which as far as I'm concerned, is in a class all by itself.
