I dined here recently, and I forgot to write my review until my friend dined here tonight and told me what a horrible experience they had as well, which reminded me to write my review. My service was the one good thing we had, I don't recall our servers name but they were very attentive and kind. The food was insanely overpriced for what we received. The portions were kind of small, which is fine, but they also just lacked flavor and style. There was nothing innovative about the food on the menu, if anything it was very lackluster and boring. Kind of behind in times, if you will. It's almost as though they made the menu expensive just for the sake of being expensive, without the actual quality and excitement to justify the price of the menu.
The general manager brought the wrong food to our table initially, which is awkward. Then the other manager, made my guest an Old Fashioned with their cart that they push over. It was like she'd never made an Old Fashioned before in her life...
The dynamite rock shrimp, were in fact not dynamite, they were average at best and kind of rock hard. Spring rolls, dry as could be. Dan dan dumplings had a good sauce, but the dumplings themselves had virtually no flavor to them whatsoever.
Then onto entrees; ugh.
The pork chop they charged $42 for was topped with frozen mango that they sautéed. For that price you aren't even giving your customers fresh produce? Total embarrassment. The pork itself was cooked correctly and had a nice flavor to it. Then for the real fun one. THEIR STEAKS ARE NOT PRIME. YET THEY ARE LABELED AS PRIME ON THE MENU. The steaks we ordered had a decent enough flavor, but I could tell from the texture that it was choice. I asked our server to check in with the chef on the grade of meat I was eating, and as I expected, IT WAS CHOICE. This place is robbing the customer with prime prices for low quality cuts of meat.
Lobster mac and cheese was not even close to being mac & cheese. It tasted like lobster noodle soup. Mashed potatoes were almost as though they were from a box. I know they weren't but the texture of them wasn't far from. My other friend got French fries with his steak. They were frozen, not fresh cut. I know this because another of the guests I'd brought had a totally different kind of French fry with her Lobster & Fries. Those ones were fresh, but nearly as dried out as the lobster they served to her. So for our 4 entrees, we spent over $200 on those alone, and we did not believe a single one of them was anywhere worth the price.
We were offered a free dessert which I took them up on. I love tres leches, one of my favorite things in the world...... I don't know who or what possessed this restaurant to label the dessert I consumed as a tres leches, but that person needs to go back to culinary school (if they even went to begin with). It was basically a banana pudding of some sorts, but almost made into a giant lego piece? Very odd to try and describe, but it was good. It was just NOT a tres leches. We also ordered a Baked Alaska, which was pretty good, and kind of a cool show with the flaming rum they pour over the top. Overall, I'm not one to sit at the restaurant and complain that the food isn't up to par. I chose to go there, I paid my bill, and I will never ever ever come back to this place. The interior decor was pretty, the seating was nice, and our server was lovely. But what on earth is going on with this place? YIKES read more
