As my cousin pointed out you have to be shit faced to survive in Sacramento, because well its Sacramento. Faces is a good place for that because there is very little trouble getting in and no one really wants to go to too much trouble for Sacramento. The crowd can be kind of odd at times and you definitely have to be careful what nights you go or you could end up having to see a lot more than you bargained for. Now that I think about it, this place is very Sacramento - an old city that tries very hard to be hip but can never really manage to pull it off I.E.: the "pool" addition that my cousin was telling me about this place. I was kind of excited until I saw that it was smaller and plainer than most pools you would find in most apartment buildings. In the end though, you gotta get through being in Sacramento somehow and since SF is too far you might as well get shit faced at Faces. When I want to dance this is where I go. They have three dance floors with three different types of music. I have had countless adventures that began or ended up poolside at Faces. The drinks are strong and they make the best tokyo tea in town. The ATM is not cheap and there is a cover so bring cash if you can. The cover is usually $5 before ten and $10 after that so I like to go early to get my hand stamped and then walk around town or have a drink at the Merc nearby. It's a little slow early in the evening but things really pick up around 10:00. Side note: If you are into guys with six packs dancing around in their underwear, Faces has that too. Added bonus? I have never been to a gay club until I stopped by Faces. Came here on two separate occasions. Once with a few classmates. A couple of a us had never been to a gay club so we pestered our one gay classmate to act as our 'guide' on a Thursday night of impromptu drinking. $5 cover, not too bad. Was a bit mellow at around 10:30 pm but began picking up. $8-9 AMFs if I remember correctly but well worth it: I've never had an AMF that hit me so hard and that too quite quickly. The music was good and overall has a good time. Second was with a friend visiting Sacramento who wanted to check it out. So she and I hit it up on a Saturday night. $10 cover, very much bumping. Saw all the dance floors, and quite enjoyed the mix of themes and different styles of music playing. A lot of jäger and super strong AMFs but overall a great experience. Even ended up getting hit on by a guy there which was a tad flattering I must admit. But great vibe for sure. I was a bit confused as to why the bathroom door on the bottom level didn't have a lock. And the pool amuses me but overall a fun club to hit up if you're in the mood to dance with strong AMFs. Though I do wish they had a less absurd $40 minimum card requirement since I'm not one to carry cash on a regular basis. read more

I love faces! When I want to go out and dance and have a good time this is where I go. It has lots of different types of music to dance to. Different rooms with a variety of music, so if you get tired of the music in one room you can just move to another room. I prefer the main room and the room next to it, they have a hip hop room but I usually stay out of there...way to many people in a small area. Or at least the room seems small with all the people in it..haha. I would say the thing I don't like about faces is the price. The drinks are pretty expensive and there is always a cover charge. We went to the Halloween party this past Saturday and the cost at the door was $25. We got out tickets before the party so we paid $15 for our tickets. Still a lot but not as bad. So if they are ever having a special event try to get your tickets before hand because it will save you some money. Overall it's a good place, lots of dancing and good people to hang with. My friends and I took a hummer limo from Davis to Faces for my 22nd birthday recently. Since I had the birthday crown on, the folks at the door told me where I could get my free drinks. The bartenders were so sweet and made sure I was taken care on my birthday! We stayed at Faces the entire night since there were three different rooms that all played different music. The music in each room was great and they were all super fun. That night I lost my phone there. I waited until the next day and asked my friend who lives in downtown Sacramento if he could swing by Faces when it opened and check if my phone was there. Someone actually turned it in and I was able to get my phone back. Steve from management was able to help me out in getting my phone and made sure that I was able to unlock it before actually giving it to me. The entire time he was helping me out he was incredibly courteous and sweet as well. Their staff at here is great! read more

Faces night club offers no parking however allows who they like to park in the Lumens parking lot but wants to tell other people not to park in the lot as they can be towed there hip hop room is too small the bartenders are awesome on top of they do pat downs now lmao they the ladie who did a pat down did a horrible job I guess I will start going elsewhere read more

Pretty awesome set up. Lots of different bars and DJs for each dance floor. Sometimes some of the crowd seems a little snotty or stuck up. Drinks are a little over priced. But all around its probably one of the largest/nicest night clubs in Sacramento area. read more

Worst security.... one security guard told me and my friend (who's 21st birthday it was) that we were not allowed to take out mini backpacks (literally smaller than any other purse I have) in the club, yet we see 5+ females walk in with purses twice the size of my bag. So ridicouless.... my friend had to hide hers in the bush (which I grabbed and took home for her cause I was NOT gonna leave my bag out there in the shitty area) anyways finally after we call an uber to pick me and my bf up since you guys refused to let us in.... That security guard left and a new one came by and said we could check out bags in. No way!!!! I went last night. It was no different than any other night. The bathrooms were dirty and out of toilet paper! It was hot as hell. Straight men come in to start groping women randomly and no one does anything about it! The front room is ghetto! Went outside to my car to get fresh air and drink water and the Security Guard accused us of drinking booze, right in front of the club! Came here for the first time last night with my friends and we had blast! We got there early enough for the $5 cover and we didn't know what to expect inside. Most places are grimy, crowded and hot. But this place was friendly and everyone here just wanted to have a great time. Saturdays they have drag shows which involved lip sync performances. The music variety is great too, whats nice is that if you're not feeling the music there are 2 other rooms to dance in. If you get super hungry they have yummy street tacos for cheap. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes to dance in! I made the mistake of wearing the wrong ones. read more

Met some new friends here while I stayed home for the summer. Had a blast, cool drinks, great quadrant with Headhunters and other clubs. Found a few special friends. Good club to meet up and then meet others and cool that you can stay in the same area and go club/bar hopping. Have only one reservation and that is watching out for the cops. I didn't have a car, so I was lucky but the police just sit out there looking for you, wanting to make a buck after you've had a fun night. So, my fiancé was celebrating his birthday at Faces and got kicked out because "he couldn't stand straight" and that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of in my many years of going to faces. We've been going there for so many years and have noticed that others who were actually NOT able to stand getting kicked out, but my fiancé was with a police officer celebrating his birthday and she could attest to him being able to stand. At worst he was a level 2 drunk and in casino's that's not the level to be kicked out. I am never coming back. We were disrespected and ostracized because he was drunk... Like everyone else was... As a cop, my friend was completely disrespected by security and she was pissed at how the situation was handled. Shame on you. You lost 15 customers (the group we had). read more

I'm so sad that I have to write a negative review for what I used to think of as the best club in Sacramento. WARNING: Long, detailed review :P I hadn't been in a while, especially after moving to Davis where there is pretty much nothing fun to do. The day after finals I had pre-planned with a girlfriend to go to Faces for some stress relief, post birthday celebration, and a good workout! Sleep deprived from finals, spent 7 hours that morning getting CPR+First Aid Certified, and feeling sick from eating wayyy too much at dinner, perhaps I should have reconsidered going. But it was Faces, almost a guaranteed good time! We met up there to find a $5 cover. What the heck? It was like 10pm and the place was dead, their excuse was the cheap drinks. My black superman wasn't a well drink, even though they used the well liquors, so $13 wasted. The bartender was really great, it's not his fault because he has to follow bar protocol. Instead of making an issue out of it, I just resolved not to get anymore drinks in my head but he was sweet and gave me a discount because I didn't know. Still, a well drink at $1 has at least 2 shots, why was mine with 6 still so expensive? The place was also empty, like I've never seen a club so empty. It was at 10% capacity and literally 2-4 people were dancing. The music wasn't good, I kept checking to see if the DJ left because I swore it was someone's playlist. There was also no hot go-go dancers to set the mood. We danced and drank anyways, but super cheap liquor does not mix with overfilled stomach and I got sick but I was sober. I had to go in the urinal because ALL of the guys decided they needed a stall to piss instead of using the urinal. (I know because they didn't lock the door as I tried to get to a toilet.) There's a silicon divider thing in the urinal for that reason, so I picked it up and threw the contents in the toilet so they wouldn't have to be troubled. I know this is TMI, but security saw me get sick and assumed I was trashed. Nope, just a case of finals stress. I was feeling buzzed before that but after I was totally sober again, that liquor was horrible quality so I didn't have more. So we danced for like 30 minutes and then switched dance floors. My friend does not have my tolerance, my tolerance is annoyingly high, and was drunk so she was a little wobbly. We got to the other floor and were dancing when security asked us to follow him. We got to the front and he put his hands together and pointed in my face and said it was time to go because we were too drunk. After a, "Excuse me sir, I am sober. You do not need to point in my face like that." They changed their route to, "You need to get your drunk friend home." She wasn't causing any trouble whatsoever so I didn't understand why they signaled us out. I have been much more drunk at a bar or club than she was. I wasn't arguing to stay, but I didn't like how they were treating us. We paid the cover and spent almost $40 total on drinks and tip and we were sometimes the only ones dancing. How sober was I? I backed a Kickstarter project on my phone at one point there, that's how sober. I was being formal when I spoke but they wouldn't even listen to me. The older man with the glasses kept saying, "Young lady, we are not having this conversation, period!" Excuse me? I'm not your daughter, I am a client who constantly recommends dozens of people to your establishment. Another security guard came out and let me explain and apologized but said there was nothing he could do. I said I understood, but the level of customer service at this club was the worst I've received at any entertainment place. I analyzed the situation and realized they kicked us out because we had bought an adequate amount of drinks so either we wouldn't buy anymore or if we did we would become intoxicated to a point of trouble for them. I have been 21 since I was fourteen, this is not my first rodeo. This place has poor customer service and decreased significantly in quality. As we left, I noticed Badlands was poppin' with a good crowd and music. Wish we went there to begin with. Overall, I do not recommend, the bartender was sweet but everything else was so bad. My friends and I have been coming to Faces for almost 10 years, and I have to say that I am really close to being fed up. I keep trying to give them a chance in the name of loyalty, but after last time I think I'm switching to Badlands. Reasons: 1) The $10 cover is absolutely ridiculous. I have heard that they do this because people go down to the Merc, get wasted for cheap, then come to Faces and be belligerent. My solution to this problem is to lower your damn drink prices! If they charged a normal cover (average in San Francisco is $3), and offered their drinks at lower prices, maybe people wouldn't want to go elsewhere. 2) The music has gone steadily downhill the last few years. 3) The security at the door is ridiculously rude. This was the last straw for us. We had stamps and needed to go outside to use the ATM to get more cash to pay for drinks. We did and came back in through the front entrance. The security guard checked our stamps and said we had to go to the other entrance because our stamps were "smeared". Seriously?! We went to the other entrance with him following us like we were criminals. When we politely asked him if he wanted us to wait in line again, he barked at us that he didn't like our attitudes and we'd better watch it or he might not let us in at all. Listen, dude, I'm sorry that you couldn't make it through the police academy and are now forced to work security at a gay bar, but it's just bad business to treat all customers like they are criminals. We went outside to get more money to spend in the establishment! After the doorman confirmed we had paid, we got back inside to find our group. Because of the rudeness displayed by security and being made to feel like criminals, we did NOT spend our money there and instead went across the street to Badlands. This security guard actually lost Faces money that night. Being regular customers, we were really insulted. I will say that the rest of the staff is nothing but nice. Jeff the doorman is amazing and always so pleasant. I honestly can't believe that there are bad reviews about the bartenders. All of them are hilarious and friendly. I really hate saying that I won't be back, because I might give it another chance eventually. But until Terry gets his head out of his a$$, you can find me at Badlands. read more

This place isn't what it used to be.. at all. Like not even close. Like I cant believe its still called Faces. Back in my day (yes I am a tad older) it was a gay bar. All welcome, but no judgments. There were the occasional swingers and what not but we could eagle eye spot them from a mile away. Now it has turned into a not so gay friendly atmosphere. Too many straight guys grabbing, too many straight girls only there so the creepers don't bother them, which once they are drunk they are all over it like a spider money on shit. Got into a fight with a dude who swung at me and he was not escorted out. Bartenders except for Kelly are super rude and wouldn't serve me because I asked for water and didn't leave a buck, be it I ordered drinks all night and tipped. We have been coming to faces for years now.....the last time we went to faces was 2 months ago, we go for the hip hop room. In the past it was always packed, the music was on point! Last time we went the dj, was a short overweight bald white guy, the music sucked so badly that we left, as did a lot of people. There was nothing but complaints on the dance floor. We decided to try it again last night. To our dismay, the same dj was there! SO MAD!!! We got there at 10, it is usually packed like sardines in there at that time. He played return of the mack, lean like a cholo, and some salsa music. We left. NOT WORTH THE COVER!!! Terrible, they need to have a dj that appeals to the urban population! I could do it better! I'm visiting from New Zealand and the bouncer on the door Friday night kicked me out of the line, adamant that I was only 20. Faces is certainly an experience. The layout, I must say, is pretty darn cool. 2 stories, bars everywhere, even a swimming pool out back. Unlike any other bar in town. But make no mistake, this is a gay bar. There are little guys in underwear dancing on pillars, cross-dressers, and a whole lot of grinding on the dance floors. But as long as you know what you're getting yourself into, it can be a good time. Interesting, if nothing else. From what I've seen, there's a cover to get in on weekends, but the drinks are fairly cheap and stiff. None of us straight fellas felt uncomfortable being there, and lots of straight girls seem to frequent the dance floor so that they don't have to deal with gross d-bags rubbing up on them (you ladies know what I'm talking about). Yes, all are welcome at Faces. An evening at Faces is something everyone should experience at least once in their career as a Midtown boozer. If nothing else, it makes for a great story. read more

My review is primarily about one of the staff who turned a bad incident into a glorious one. I was at Faces.. a non 420 friendly establishment when one of the ladies in my party was asked to leave for smoking. I must have dropped my wallet in my zeal to be a team player. ‍ I don't smoke but couldn't let my friend be out there alone. My wallet which I though was stolen must have been dropped. This all happened 5 months ago by the way. I got a random Facebook message from Davide D telling me my wallet was found!! My imagination didn't even have time to come up with any suspicions or recall past episodes of cold case files or Craig's list killers because he was kind enough to send pictures. My whole life was in this wallet. My 20 year old ID's and licenses from two states over. 7 credit cards. My check book. Everything. On top of his efforts to find me, he also contacted my Mom, who is on my Costco membership, trying to find me. Davide went above and so far beyond the call of duty. If Faces can hire a person this solid they deserve all of my bar budget money I will definitely be back. read more

faces was nothing like i expected. i've been to a good number of gay bars in my days so i expected to one of the standard handful of straight girls there. not the case. that place was exploding with straight people. within 15 minutes of being in there i had my ass humped 3 times by 3 different skeezy guys. yuck. the dancing is pretty fun though. i like all the different rooms, but they all seemed to be playing katy perry's "i kissed a girl" on frequent rotation. the drinks and fucking expensive dudes. and i was drinking red bull and vodka and they kept making doubles and charging me $9 without asking if that's what i wanted. i only found this out when one bartender actually asked what i wanted. so, overall it wasn't terrible, but i think you could probably have a much better time elsewhere. read more

Don't waste your time! Their overzealous security had someone in our party arrested by the local police because they had nothing better to worry about than what people are doing in the bathrooms. LAME! If you want to party don't go there...in fact skip Sacramento alltogether. The only reason I was up there was because I went rafting over the weekend.
