Great place to dress casual and dance the night away! Great music- 3 dance floors: hiphop room, trance/country dance room, depending on the night, retro-mix type of music room,.They have an upstairs lounge, pool side hang out area and of course their pool to swim on Sundays. GOGO dancers!! The male dancers are good looking and can work the pole =) Love the staff..they are so nice and friendly esp. the Trans =) Not a place to buy their expensive drinks. My friends and I sometimes head down to the Mercantile (a must go saloon!) to get their drinks before going to Faces. But if you end up getting drinks, go to the bar upstairs (the one by the stairs).They put a lot of liquor in the drinks..Yippy! $5 before 10am to get in and $10 after that. My friends and I would head out early to get our hands stamped and the head out to the Mercs before going back to Faces. Best time to be there is after 10:30pm..Is dead before that! Bring cash! I can't feel right giving it two stars, and three seems overly-generous. I'd be torn if I almost cared, so I'll lean towards being nice. I think I'm qualified to write an objective review of Faces because I don't mind going there and have enjoyed myself there, and at the same time, if it was torn down tomorrow (barring the reason being some kind of puritanical purge or something) I don't think it would significantly change my life. Faces wants to be all things to all people. Mostly gays, yes, but everyone else too. This can be a good thing, sure, but it also means that Faces has a bit of WalMart syndrome. The place is big, there's a lot in there, but it's still all crammed together and not really the best quality of anything. There's just a lot of stuff. Yes. Faces is a dive. Yes there is loud music and people trying to get laid and drunk. To me, that's potentially ridiculous and obnoxious, but if I'm at a dance club, and that's the least of my worries, I figure I'm doing okay. I don't go out to remind myself of reasons to be puritanical. It's big, there are multiple rooms to dance in. Drinks are expensive-ish. That's about all I can say, really. It's a big noisy dance club. I kind of like going to big noisy dance clubs once in a great while, but normally, I'd rather do something else. If you want to go see (very close to being) naked dudes, they have strippers on Thursday nights starting late, and sometimes at other occasions they have dancers. I've seen that, and I was super lucky to see a bunch of guys who work for Falcon Video dancing. Weird, silly, but a lot less weird than I thought it would be, and of course it made me horny. Contrary to the poster before me, Faces does not hold some kind of monopoly on cute and personable gay boys. I'm not disputing that person's experience, but it's not like they come stocked in the cellar. Anybody who pays the cover charge can come inside. You'll find all kinds at Faces. I've met nice people there, sure. I've also seen some really obnoxious poo heads, and some of them were straight, and some of them were ugly, and some of them weren't even boys. A guy who I almost swore was my 8th grade Algebra teacher grabbed my butt at Faces once. Going to Faces isn't likely to change your mind about dance clubs if you're not big on them. If you really love dance clubs, my review is probably worthless because I don't have as much of a basis of criteria to judge what makes a good dance club. If you don't go to clubs much, but you're okay with them, well, maybe I helped you out. I figure people like me who are mostly indifferent but don't mind stepping out for something different occasionally might be curious about Faces. Since I've been there a few times I can vouch for it. Don't expect much, see what happens. If you get bored, you can go get a hot dog at Hod Rod's across the street. read more

This place was crackin this past Friday! 4 rooms of awesome music, and the crowd was totally fun! Faces is known to be a hot gay club, but there was a total mixed crowd.. Very good looking crowd too! BUT (you knew there was gonna be one with those 3 stars I just gave).. 1. There's a $40 bar minimum so when I got a drink and handed over my card, I randomly got $30+ back in change. It would have been nice to have known what I was going to be charged. 2. The front door. Unfriendly folks, $10 cover? They're making bank that's for sure. It's just really.. $10 isn't worth it. Deserves 0 stars! Worst club I've ever been too. Had a group of 14 girls for a bachelorette party. Ready to spend money and have fun. Told we could dance on some speaker boxes by the bartender. Then a rude lady called herself head of security and pretty much pulled 2 girls down. And when we told management about it. All he said was " I don't like what u are saying about my club and really dont care what you think. " We really just wanted to know if we could dance there since we were getting told different things but with that reaction we all left and had a great time at Dive Bar down the street. From a queer ladies view point I don't know about faces. But it's all we have really. I enjoy the music, like others have said you want to pre-game before you get there the drinks are kind of weak. I have to say it's one of the best clubs. If you really want to enjoy it bring your own friends along, there is enough diversity in the crowd that you can find the type of people you want. I went to FACES for the first time last night and I was very excited to go with a group of friends. The club has a 4 rooms and a pool. They have good music and definitely the pool it makes it better. Unfortunately, one of the bartenders killed our night. A dear friend asked him for water and he gave her an attitude. He said that he was going to stop giving water. He was rude and disrespectful. Since when water is not given at a bar? So, next time you go, make sure you order water every five minutes because you don't know if they will run out. I mean what kind of support this is for people who are the designated drivers. It continues to amaze me how the positive comments about this bar come from straight people. What does that say about our society? More specifically, what does that say about our LGBT community in Sacramento? I will definitely not go back to FACES and will not recommend it to others if they ever ask me about what I think about that place. Faces definitely lost a good group of customers last night. Walking up the stairs to the second floor of this place was a bit like deja vu, only I was channeling Emmett and Michael from QAF. The house music in the main room downstairs, coupled with the neon viewing deck upstairs and colorized video playback of the crowd was too much, and i'm not sure i'm down with all that. still, this was my first time out in Sac, and I was pleasantly surprised by this club in the gayborhood. Faces was my FAV place to go in 2007, I still go every now and then, but it has totally changed since then. The cover is pricey, because it is the only club in Sacramento with 3 dance floors. So that kind of sucks because we have to seriously think if it's worth paying for + drinks and all...it's a pricey trip. Their bathrooms need work, but they offer more than one, so that's nice. Incredibly fun gay club--I can't believe this is in Sacramento! It's called the largest gay club in NorCal and I believe it--there's probably 8-10 bars, multiple levels, indoor & outdoor areas, and several dancefloors. I brought a bunch of girls here for a bachelorette party and it was a blast! The drag queen show was a ton of fun. They give lots of attention to anyone getting married. The host got my friend free drinks. The bartenders were very nice, the drinks were good. I loved how they had different music in rooms. Let be first say that I am from Vegas so I am a little spoiled when it comes to amazing shows and clubs. I took my bride to be and her bachelorette party here on Saturday for the drag show. They pulled her out on stage and were quite rough with her. Pulling her out after she said no and then pushed her off the dance floor when they were done. In the end she did pull her ACL which was finally healed. Now with the wedding a week later her knee is messed up again! (ps. there is a liquor store down the street that sells ibuprofen) The drag show in general was not very good. The lip singing was bad and the dancing was not very good either. There was one asian woman who was AMAZING!! I was the DD for the night and the nice bartender gave me free soda for the night! I was very happy! The other girls had drinks and said they were good and I thought the prices were fair. The DJ after the drag show was amazing and had some great songs!! There are many different rooms with different styles of music which was nice since we all had different tastes. Lastly security checks all womens bags and will pat down men. many people complained about it but I liked it because I like a safe environment. WOW! The recent remodel that took five years to complete is well worth the wait! They have a fricken swimming pool in the back patio! The main room is awesome with it's second level balcony, the house music could be ALOT better! The middle room is the old house room and to be honest I really don't know what they were playing... it went from Mexican to breakbeats? About a year ago I would have given Faces 5 stars, but now, I would like to give it two. So I'm averaging it out to about 3 stars (hey, I never claimed to be good at math). The new bouncers they have are quite simply not friendly. I miss the old crew, they were friendly and not so stuck up. The drinks are never that strong. The only good thing part is the dance floors, but even now, since they're not that crowded, I'm not into it. Maybe it's just me. Oh wait, it's not, I know others who hold my same opinion. This was the first club I ever stepped foot in. They always have cover, so being the cheapskate that I am, I hardly ever come here anymore. I love that they have three dance floors with three types of music in each. I did notice that fights frequently break out in the "hip-hop room", the room closest to the entrance. So be careful when you're in there. A lot of straight couples make out in there. In the other two rooms, you'll usually see gay people doing their own thing. I try to dance in all three rooms while I'm there. I do love the middle room, the one with the mirrors. Many times I've stepped onto the little stage and danced my heart out. So my boi and I went to Faces last Saturday night for our first time, we LOVED it! We got there at 11, so there was a $10 cover, but it was worth every penny! Both of the bartenders that served us were really nice, even when I needed help getting the name of a drink I saw him pour for someone else. He was sassy but sweet and politely told me the name...I ended up ordering that drink and loved it! The prices on drinks were really reasonable. Although we checked out all the rooms at Faces, that night we ended up staying in the 2 rooms that were playing dance/electronica. Including the room with the gorgeous go-go dancers! The music was great, I must have heard like 8 of my favorite songs! If I *had* to complain about something, I would say that they should take better care to make sure the toilet paper is stocked throughout the night. As the night goes on, people get more drunk and have to pee more often! All in all, it was my favorite clubbing experience yet! Me and my boi will be back again this coming weekend! read more

My hubby and I came here on a date night. He was hesitant at first because it's a gay bar, but who cares if the music and the dancing is good?! There are three dance floors. There's always one that is usually packed. We spent time at the other two floors that aren't so packed. The music was awesome (pop, Top 40, R&B with a great DJ spin, but nothing too house-music ish where you don't even recognize the actual song). The drinks were typical prices. Faces was my first gay club and I loved it! I love how they have different room with different music so if you didn't like one room or got tired of the music you just went onto another room. I thought it was interested how they had unisex bathrooms where there are urinals right next to the stalls. A friend of mine asked me where the mens bathroom was when I was in the unisex bathroom and when I told him to come in he got all freaked out. It was pretty funny. The music is great and the male dancers were a nice touch. I thought it was funny how some of the were ripped and it great shape and some werent but o well. It was also funny because some of them had dollar bills hanging from their underwear/speedos? Downside: The drinks are definitely on the pricer side but I guess I lucked out because when I ordered a kamikaze they had $2 kamikaze specials. YAY!
