The staff here are extremely unprofessional. I visited faces on Saturday, 2/7/26, with a small group of friends and my boyfriend. We enjoyed ourselves for about 2 hours, drinking, bouncing between the different dance floors and the outdoor patio. My boyfriend and I split off from my friends and went to the bar in the big room to grab a shot. I ordered a double shot of vodka and a cran back. When I was served the shot, I reached for the glass and immediately felt it slice into the palm of my hand, close to my pinky finger. It started to bleed. Nothing crazy though, I wasn't dramatic. I showed the bartender (the one who served me the broken glass) he said nothing, grabbed a small stack of bar napkins, dropped them into my injured hand, and retrieved the faulty glass. I waited in the same spot for about 5-7 for the bartender to re-pour my shot. After he did (he still had not said a word to me... not even an apology) my boyfriend and I went to the patio to smoke. After being on the patio for about 5 minutes, a security guard walked up to my boyfriend and I, SNATCHED one of the vapes out of my hand and began to smell it, he asked if it was weed, I told him the truth and he said we had to leave. So we left without argument. (I knew it was against the rules and I wasn't angry about getting kicked out, this was entirely my fault and NOT part of my gripe with the establishment... besides the fact the security guard who kicked us out damn near smoked my pen with how close he put it to his nostrils, I was a bit disgusted). After we left, we stood outside of faces and tried contacting my friends who were still inside. Mind you this WHOLE time I was applying pressure to my (still bleeding) hand with a measly stack of bar napkins. I spoke to a security guard who was on his way inside (I think by the main entrance) I told him I was served a glass inside that cut me and I needed a bandaid. I don't remember what he said but he went inside (I assumed to grab a bandaid) and didn't return. After waiting for him for maybe 10 minutes, I decided to try my luck with the bouncer. I told him the same thing. I was served a broken glass and I need a bandaid. He called for a bandaid on his little earpiece microphone and we went back to waiting. Another 10 minutes go by and the second security guard I had asked was now replaced with a woman (maybe 5'6, 40 years old, and Asian, with a black ponytail) So I asked her. Hey I was served a broken glass inside and I need a bandaid. She called for it on the microphone earpiece. I went back to waiting. Another 10 minutes (we are at 30 MINUTES now) go by and I decide to remind the lady that I'm still waiting for a bandaid. I walk up to her again as she's talking with another guest, still holding napkins on my injury, and I said excuse me, this woman put her palm in my face and yelled "IM TALKING!!! " I gave her that same energy and said "IM BLEEDING " while holding up my bloody bar napkins. She said nothing in response, and called AGAIN (a bit angrier this time) on the earpiece: "WHERE'S THAT BANDAID" My boyfriend and I take ourselves back to the sidewalk to wait and eventually a man comes out with 2 bandaids, the woman directs him to where I was waiting. We took the bandaids and left. The staff clearly doesn't take their clientele seriously. I was drunk, but not drunk enough to act a fool or forget how I was treated. The funny thing is, this establishment got me intoxicated, injured me, kicked me out (which was valid), and then made me beg for aid. I'm actually appalled at this type of behavior. They know they can get away with it because their guests are drunk. So thank you, Sacramento Faces staff, for letting your egos fuel your work ethic, and for treating your guests like a nuisance. Y'all have a lot to work on. Safe to say I will not be returning.

Security lady..

I really want to love this place, and I do when security is reasonable, but there is one lady who is horrible. I felt like I was judged instantly and told I wasn't allowed in because I had Lactaid pills on me. I cannot have dairy, and they were making free burgers so I brought lactaid in mind of having cheese on my burger. She said I wasn't allowed in with them and I understood. I asked her if there was somewhere I could throw them away so I could come inside but she said I wasn't allowed in at all. She was disrespectful and couldn't even look me in the eye... This place is wonderful but some of the security has really ruined Faces

Me just living my best life!

I fell down the wet stairs here and the owner wouldn't even share the footage and ignored my emails once he saw that I fell down.

I had a couple of bad experiences here…read more On one night, I had only had one drink at The Mercantile Saloon *albeit their drinks are strong,* but, I wasn't drunk. I was out for my first time on my own wearing six inch heels actually. I walked in and ordered my only drink since getting to Badlands as my second stop. I barely got to the side of the bar where there was room for me to adjust my heels, and before I could even begin to have my drink, security came up to me, said I'm too drunk, and escorted me out. I paid the $10 cover, and bought the $10 drink that I left at the side table mostly full while subsequently being escorted out in less than 10 minutes. Such a waste, and I didn't deserve it. I also had two separate evenings where I was standing at the bar for quite a while, waiting to order, while other people continued to come up after me and be helped before me. Reading some of the other reviews, I wonder if it is because I am trans and express myself femininely, despite a large part of the attraction of coming here being the drag. I also went to a Sunday brunch drag show and was never brought change for my bar tab for a drink I had ordered. It was not a busy day, and I felt weirdness from the barkeep akin to what I expressed above about, feeling invisibilized. I was going to tip anyway. But, requiring tipping culture in this economically inundated world is, not the way. There was also a separate food tab, with a separate tip I did choose to leave, on top of tipping the people performing, who I did tip, too. But, it is just too expensive to immerse into society as a part of this community in these spaces. Cover charges also are huge limiting factors to community engagement and should not be implored if this really is a bastion for the queer community. In alignment with my first experience I expressed. We should all be able to explore, discover, be free. It is this constant putting more and more costs onto us as individuals that fundamentally funnels us and keeps many from ever being able to engage. Realize ourselves. Charge an extra dollar for drinks if you have to, but I think you're likely making more than enough profits, whoever you are, business owner of Badlands. It feels especially important to talk about this in the face of what Trans people are being faced with every day alongside the greater Queer community; we all continue to endure, and need to be free to be, saying no to profits, the construct of monetization, especially in our spaces, and no to transphobia, transmisia, queerphobia, queermisia--building and bolstering up inclusive spaces for All of we. I really wanted to like going here. Maybe this and other reviews will spark a change of heart, and realignment in what is supposed to be one of the esteemed Queer spaces of the Lavender District. Security checked our IDs at the door, and once we walked in, the bar area was packed. Luckily, there were reserved booths nobody was using and my girl, and I sat there since the main bar was crowded. It actually worked out perfect for us. It gave us space to sit, relax, and have a good conversation without feeling cramped. We ordered a couple of colorful drinks that were nicely balanced and flavorful, not too overpowering, and easy to enjoy. The music was hip-hop which is right up my alley, so the vibe was definitely on point. What really stood out was the atmosphere. I've never been in a bar quite like this where jellyfish were hanging from the ceiling, and a whole underwater theme. I was told a mermaid appears over the bar at certain times, but sadly, I didn't get to see her this visit. Overall, it was a great spot to end the night after the movie. The bar tenders have horrible customer service even when the bar isn't busy. It seems like they rather hang out and chat with regulars and friends than serve paying customers. The security guards we're blatantly discriminating against my friend for no good reason. Also, security apparently accepts bribes at the front door to let people in, so much for safety. The drinks were in my opinion overpriced and didn't taste good. Maybe I'm biased because my whole experience here put a complete sour taste in my mouth. Then, to top it all off my friends and I were being harassed by two patrons who had clearly been overserved the entire time we were there. We had no choice but to leave and we will never be back again! After visiting I wanted to leave a review because I felt other people should steer clear. To my surprise, I read reviews here that mentioned almost the exact experience we had. So, this is not an isolated incident and Dive Bar has not taken our comments into consideration. Disclaimer: I did not have this experience, but it was very disheartening to see all the reviews, tik toks, reels, etc. I found after visiting Dive Bar in which women and men are claiming to have been roofied. This may or may not be true, but it can't be a coincidence this many people have had the same experience. There needs to be an investigation into this bar. I myself will be placing a call to the BBB and I hope that anyone who has had that experience feels empowered to speak to the authorities.
