In addition to being a top-notch makeup artist, Crystal was a pleasure to work with -- she was responsive to emails and flexible with scheduling (about a week before the wedding, I realized that it would be better if she could start at 9 am on our wedding day instead of the previously agreed upon 10:30 am, and she was able to accommodate the change). Also, Crystal's good taste in music may not seem particularly relevant in this situation, but the music she streamed during the trial and wedding makeup sessions helped create a cheerful and celebratory mood, which helped me relax. It was important to me to find someone who knew how to work with Asian features but also a variety of skin tones across my bridesmaids. I had a trial done with Jessie about a month before the wedding where I had some ideas of soft glam and a medium up-do since I had a few outfit changes throughout the day and needed to choose some colors that would go with red and white dresses. We actually got to experiment a bit at our trial going with a more coral tone vs. pink and we agreed that coral was the right way to go for me. Jessie is super easy going and an expert at her craft. She's delicate, direct, and professional! I trusted that she would recommend the right details and adapt properly. A week prior to the wedding, I also went to her for a lash lift that would go well with the falsies and the makeup. For the day of the wedding, Jessie and her assistant arrived at our hotel and we definitely had some hiccups along the way, but they were able to adapt and on time and even a little ahead of schedule. It was an early morning since I decided to do my tea ceremony at noon but she got it done. Also, my wedding day happened to be a hot and toasty one thanks to a heat wave. Even despite that, my makeup held up and my bridesmaids were able to touch me up with some powder and guidance that Jessie gave us. All in all, Jessie is amazing! I reached out to her via email and she responded very quickly to my inquiry. It was $650 for both me and my mom, which is really a great price, like my sister hired someone else and she was more expensive for the same service. It took her 2 hours to finish hair and makeup for for both of us. I loved the way our looks turned out for both of us! I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. The result was exactly what I was hoping for from the very beginning when I stepped into the other salon. Note to self....i will never see any other stylist.
