The coaches are so motivational and encouraging, they meet you where you're at and challenge you to put your best effort in. The workouts really get you sweating. Its a mix of treadmills, water rowers, and synergy station (body weight, weights, trx, and terracore station). I never though my heart rate could increase while weight training but I'm in the fat burning zone most of the time. Lastly what makes this gym awesome is the saunas! The personal sauna's promote healing and are super relaxing. You can use it individually or with a friend or two. You can even bluetooth your music to them. Overall I've loved my experience with Red Effect, I only wish they'd open more locations!

Body fat: 37.5%. 7-8-2024. Weight: 266. Skel Muscle Mass: 93. BMI: 36. Body fat: 38%. I communicated the following issues. -When you sign up for 6 months they still treat you as if your on a 28 day cycle. That means you cannot pre-book appointments beyond 4 per month through the app. There's a dark area where you essentially have no credits. Your card has to be billed for the next month before you can book. This means that your trainer and/or time slot will be filled by someone else causing you pivot from your routine. You can call & ask them to book for you in that 1 week of dead app but often your trainer/time slot is not available. Incredibly frustrating. -They pushed a program whereas their fees would be covered by your FSA or HSA. You pay for a letter of medical necessity from a 3rd party company (Truemed) that is sent to your provider. However my provider denied the claim because their invoices don't match the language in the letter & all dates are Jan 8th (my contract sign date) instead of putting the date of service. They won't modify their invoices so the money spent with Truemed is wasted because Body 20 won't put the proper information on their invoices. -I informed them @ the end of month 4 my intent to cancel early. They would not let me out of my 6mo commitment. Crappy but I signed on for that so it is what it is. However on July 1st (end of my contract) they gave me the cancellation papers. I was charged an additional month on July 8 in the amount $299.00. They told me cancelation takes 1 mon to process & refuse to refund my money but I was welcome to train in July. -Forget Body20. Over the course of 24 sessions there was no physiological change; lack of ability to keep the same trainer and or time slot; lack of honesty regarding cancellation & no desire to do what's right regarding overcharging; lack of understanding & willingness to work with their clients regarding FSA/HSA benefits in a program they push.

The Wheaton location is somewhat hidden among us surrounding stores, but it's easy enough to find. Upon arrival, door access is controlled through a mobile apps so since I wasn't registered yet, one of the staff members kindly let me in. We went through a brief questionnaire discussing why I was interested in joining and what fitness goals. I was hoping to achieve this year. I was then given a tour of the facility and led to my scheduled class, which was hot yoga. Each class takes place in its own sauna, designed to accommodate about 2 to 3 people at a time. The workout itself is guided through a screen inside the sauna, which I personally did not enjoy. Classes like yoga, Pilates, it can be challenging to follow independently, and I value having an instructor present to demonstrate proper form and correct posture when needed. That hands-on guidance makes a big difference for me.. HOTWORX offers two membership packages. The highest one right now it's $80 unlimited classes at home and in person, that includes a small weight machine area in the back, you have to purchase their supplies such as their towel, mat, and one other item. It also includes an app to use on your phone to count your calories, food intake and all that great stuff. Overall, the staff was welcoming, friendly, professional, but the concept just wasn't the right fit for me. Also, if you ever plan to take a free trial, make sure to wear almost nothing and take a ton of water with you and a towel because you will sweat and be hot!!!

The coaching staff has continuously pushed me from the beginning while keeping me safe. They make sure the weight is heavy enough to challenge me but realistic for my level of experience. I have always enjoyed the gym but after several months of watching my overall fitness progress, I'm a believer in CrossFit alpha dog. I have no intention of leaving this gym and am even doing a competition next month. I would recommend this gym to anyone that enjoys hard workouts, great coaching, and a welcoming environment. Crossfit alpha dog has taken one commonality in every member and turned it into something more than just a gym. It's a second home.

Here is the long and short of it- you will not find a better CrossFit total fitness experience then…read moreat AlphaDog. It's not an accident that it's the fittest gym in Illinois for CrossFit training. Working out side-by-side with ranked athletes is a huge inspiration. In my opinion, every other box is a distant second. Read on if you want to know why I feel that way... I've been a member here now for just over two years. But my CrossFit journey started before AlphaDog. CrossFit has changed the entire way I approach training. It has helped me to lose weight and get healthier. As a man in my 40s I'm not looking to win competitions or be the strongest in the room. But this whole style of working out has been remarkable. But it's amazing what you will put up with until you truly find something special. That's where AlphaDog comes in. I had been a member of a neighboring CrossFit gym for a couple of years and made some very good strides. Some might feel it doesn't take much to run a CrossFit box. Certainly the last place I went to felt that way. It was never clean. The equipment was deteriorating. All it really had was a good community. I was encouraged to check out AlphaDog. I heard many good things but was reluctant to make a change. From the day I started at AlphaDog, Andrew and Mike, the two owners, made me, my wife and daughter feel welcome. But what becomes very evident is the care that is taken to really program solid WODs every day. Strength training that builds on itself, not just day after day, but week after week, month after month. It is like none other that I have experienced. As for the facility, the place is always clean. The equipment is well-maintained. The classes are well run and organized. We brought someone to try it one time, and they said that they felt like everyone here looks like superheroes. Funny, many of the members do. But it is inspiring to see. They're more than happy to help and encourage. The coaching staff is excellent. And they will adjust the workout to any level. Andrew, in particular, is really attuned to what everyone is able to do. He will adjust my workout before I even ask. It's pretty incredible how well he remembers what just about everyone can do or is struggling with. That's pretty unusual. It's obvious they care about people's health and safety. When CrossFit is approached in this manner, I feel it is one of the safest and best ways to work out. I suppose it's like anything else. You will get out of it what you put into it. But I personally owe the staff and the management at AlphaDog a big "Thank You". Down 60 pounds with 20 more to go and my muscle mass increasing, I never thought I can get to where I am now. No one paid me to write this. I'm a business owner myself. Nothing makes me more satisfied , business-wise, than when one of my clients feels happy about their experiences. I think AD needs to know that they are doing a great job. And their strides to improve every day are evident. Keep it up!!! Thanks Andrew, Mike, Seth, Anthony and the rest of the AD staff....I type this as I recover from Murph

The gym features a variety of classes (including cardio, strength training, etc.). I tried the "Gonna Make You Sweat" class--it is a good mix of cardio, strength training, and core work. The gym has all new equipment (treadmills, stair climbers, rowers, free weights, racks, etc.). The gym utilizes the latest technology in personalized fitness through the use of heart monitors. Each gym user has the option of wearing a heart rate monitor and the data is displayed on the gym screen during the workout session. The software actively tracks your heart rate in comparison to your target heart rate. At the end of the workout, you receive an email with your workout stats (e.g., average minimum and maximum heart rate, heart zones during the workout, etc.). The data links into the MAR fitness app on your smartphone, so you can track your stats workout-to-workout. The gym amentities include single user bathrooms (shower included) and lockers with built-in combination key pads. Ample parking given the gym's close proximity to the Downers Grove Downtown Parking Garage and the train station parking lot (available during the evening hours and on the weekends). Great for commuters and for those who want a fresh take on fitness!
