You can also find street parking right outside of solidcore. Everything is first-come, first-serve, and all parking is free. If you're doing street parking, it's limited to two hours. This was my first time trying solidcore, and I signed up through ClassPass. Booking a class was a little challenging since most sessions were already full, but you can set reminders to be notified if a spot opens up. I honestly relied on this because a lot of people tend to drop last minute. Today, I took the Starter 50 class, which is designed for beginners, and I had Coach Helen. One thing to note is that you can't enter the building until 10 minutes before your class. I believe this is for safety purposes, so I'd recommend timing your arrival accordingly. Once inside, the space is a bit smaller than I expected. They have lockers, bathrooms, and a changing area. I didn't notice any showers, so I'm not entirely sure if they offer them. There's only one studio, and classes happen one at a time. When I walked in, there were already quite a few people in the room. Coach Helen was super nice and very talkative throughout the workout, which I actually appreciated. She explained each exercise clearly, making it simple and easy to follow along. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I'm really excited to continue trying solidcore with other coaches this week!

The workout was definitely intense and effective and I would love to continue, but the way they harrass you about the memberships is enough to make me never want to return. I understand that encouraging people to sign up for memberships is part of the job and I fully expected them to discuss membership options, but the way they continued to push and push no matter what I told them, left a bad taste in my mouth. Even after telling them that I would be moving out of state next month so I didn't want to commit to a membership (since each one is a 3 month minimum), they still pushed it and suggested I start a membership and cancel before I move. Personally, that doesn't make sense to me. Right before they brought up memberships, they were going on and on about how close the pure barre community was, but after the membership pressure, I felt like they did not care about me at all and just wanted my money. Also less than 24 hrs after the class, they had already called, left a voicemail, AND texted me about starting a membership. I probably would have eventually signed up for one after trying a full single class, but now I'm not sure if I'll be returning.

A friend recommended that I try the Armory out and I could not be happier that I did. The trainers are the best of the best and so accommodating and patient. They've given me the courage to try out new exercises that I had never considered and have helped me scale my workouts to find what works for my body to get really strong and stay strong. Since then, they have followed him up to his new gym! I swung by a couple of Saturdays ago and did a 30 min workout here with the guys. I didn't know what to expect, especially since I have never been to a crossfit gym before. Our workout that morning was more conditioning exercises and I actually enjoyed it! We did the 9 AM workout with Coach Anna. I struggled with push presses and Joel and Anna were there to walk me through the movements when my form was not correct. Thank you! Cody was sore the following days and could barely lift his arms. I was decently sore as well. Meaning it was a great workout and it was only 30 min! It is a great space, very clean, and the coaches are very enthusiastic for you to be there! I'll definitely go by again when I am around on the weekends more!

I gave this gym a try and really didn't enjoy my time there. I am surprised by the reviews about…read morethis being an inviting community. When I walked in, it was a very "Seattle Freeze" community. If you aren't part of the regulars, you're largely ignored. I tried to spark conversations, but it was clear that I was not welcomed by the "regulars". The trainer of the session was very kind, but didn't really explain the terminology of CrossFit for me. So I spent most of my time trying to understand just what I was supposed to be doing. Lastly, I just don't enjoy the "competitiveness" of the classes. It's more about people beating each other's score than it is about self growth. Mind you: I'm an avid fitness enthusiast. I have been working out for over 10 years. I know what I'm doing inside of a gym. I also have been to gym classes. And, by comparison, other gyms have had a far friendlier and inviting atmosphere. Trainers have gone out of their way to introduce newcomers to regulars to help grow their community. This gym seems to cater to the regulars above all else. Sadly, I won't be back. I gave it three classes, but it was the same thing every time. I give it 2 stars because the attitude of the trainers were pleasant. I just wish they knew how to (a) cater to CF newbies better and (b) did more to break the Seattle freeze community here.
