Even though you'd think you'd be tired, you actually wind up having more energy for your day at work. Although the exercises can be difficult, Joanna makes sure that you are (i) doing them correctly with good form so you don't hurt yourself, and (ii) that you are working at a level comfortable for yourself. Thus, even though it's a boot camp and there are many good people that attend, you don't feel left out because Joanna will custom tailor the workout to your level. That being said, I feel like I've come a long way and can now do many of the more difficult exercises despite my asthma. I highly recommend Bodiesynergy! You won't regret it!

As I am new to the Slope, I am excited to have Joanna in my backyard for my workouts. Once I settle in, I plan on attending her bootcamps more often. She has a wonderful, genuine personality and really knows how the body functions and what muscles we should be working on. I highly recommend taking one of her classes! Plus, it's in gorgeous Prospect Park so you have a gorgeous environment to workout in!

I've clearly watched one too many videos about air circulation indoors but there is another way! Enter outdoor training with F45, which includes workout equipment, heart thumping tunes blaring from some speakers, and even a makeshift countdown ticker in the form of an iPad. They've done away with the bells and whistles they're known for by necessity, but what I really came for was the motivation, and motivate me they did. I've been in touch with Kim at this location, who got me set up for a weeknight class. They also post their class schedule on Mindbody but I'm glad I got to talk with Kim to set the right expectations for class. All I needed to bring was a mat and a towel and show up to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Once we arrived to the park we were walked over to the gym about a block away and chose 1 kettlebell, 1 barbell, and a couple of resistance bands. Once we were set up at our spaced out spots, we began our 45 minute workout. To prevent us from having to move around and pass each other we stayed put at our respective spots, but the benefit of this is that we were able to work out unmasked. I realized pretty early on that the weight I chose for the kettlebell was too heavy for some of the moves and the barbell I picked was much too light for most of the moves, and of course I couldn't just reach for a different weight without missing a chunk of class. Fortunately Heather the instructor was a pro and provided adjustments, like using the resistance band on the barbell to make that move more challenging, or turning a one legged move into a two legged one so I had more center of gravity to carry my kettlebell that was otherwise too heavy. Of course outdoor workouts are weather dependent and there are a number of limitations, including the type of workout they can replicate outdoors and working out on the uneven surface of the earth. For these reasons I can't see making this a regular part of my routine, but I think they did a wonderful job with what they had.

I first came in because of an offer for a first class free. My rep showed me how everything worked, including the heartbeat monitor on the arm band, which they give you for free on your first visit. An instructor walked me around the studio explaining the class format and made sure I was comfortable with water and a towel. When class started he periodically checked in with me but was not overbearing. I loved how while everyone worked out individually, seeing everyone's stats on the screen did make it feel like a team effort. I really appreciated learning about the different heart rate "zones" and later did research on this when I got home. My sales rep explained the pricing tiers yet was not pushy which I appreciated and I signed up within the week. The app made it very easy to book, see stats, etc. The club has fun challenges each month and really does have a sense of community. It was always clean and you can tell instructors here really care about the members. I only quit because I ended up moving to another neighborhood but this gym truly did change my physique while I was a member, making me stronger and noticeably had an impact on my cardio endurance. I'd recommend this gym to anyone.

The classes keep me on track, and I'm seeing real results. I never, ever thought I'd be someone who enjoys jogging on a treadmill, but now I actually look forward to it. Coach Maddy brings great energy and creative themed classes. I love Coach Frankie's music picks--they make early morning workouts go by faster. And Coach Nai has a great way of offering helpful tips without making anything feel awkward. Luke is always so welcoming at the front desk. This location stands out for its thoughtful amenities: they offer gym and shower towels and a full locker room--something you don't always find at other storefront studios. OTF Park Slope is also a fun way to meet more people in the neighborhood, and the Instagram shout-outs add a nice touch of motivation. I hope corporate OTF will upgrade the app and the fitness band to more modern tech - I'd love AI analysis of my stats. I recommend Orangetheory Park Slope to anyone looking for a fresh, encouraging way to get into fitness.
