I'll be the first to admit I don't know the first thing about CrossFit. Except the name tells me it…read morehas something to do with some hybrid training and being fit. I will also say I've had but 1 handful of kick-boxing type classes my entire fitness exposure. Like 3. But what I remember is that it's a great form of cardio, balance, a raw sort of release without hurting anyone and ending up in a sweatbath. A great workout if you ask me. This gym is a large rectangular warehouse (what u imagine modern day Rocky would train in) that's hollowed out 2 stories high, equipped with all your essentials: dead weights, benches, ropes, bags, frames and hangy ropes for the lack of technical description. Industrial fans, row of bikes, clean restrooms that look added as they are a must. Mostly, it's a lot of empty space for running, planking, boxing and splaying out. We trained one on one separately with Henry, a master muy Thai fighter who caters to all levels. I watched my guy the day before as Henry worked him out, correcting his form at a moderate pace- still, the most I've seen my guy move skillfully and committed. I was a bit horrified at what he'd signed me up for today. Let me assure you- Henry is a pro. He gets right to the heart of every motion with one-two corrective instruction. He sees your effort and affirms it, even when it's just ok but goes back to edit whenever possible in the 2 minute interval taps. There were 2 longer breaks for water (3-5 mins) and ample 1 minute breaks throughout each combo/repeat we'd work on. My Achilles heel (if I had to pick one!) would be my left kick. Henry never tire of correcting my form offering suggestions as I keep repeating my poor form: pivoting, forgetting to drop my left arm while holding up my right, throwing forward my L hip, leaning, coordinating the kick with R foot turn, keeping my L extended/ bent or any combination of these elements. Henry continues to reaffirm and incorporate combos with attention and pause to the weaker areas. He reminds me to breath and never lets the heart-rate down, yet tempos the sets to a tee. We finish off with repeating power kicks and summation of points. I don't have anyone to compare Henry to, but his honest, good nature and expertise in the art is transparent. We will definitely be back for more instruction from Henry and try out their freebie Saturday CrossFit intros- call first just in case it's full.

Nundiah and the rest of the NBP team have created such a welcoming and safe space for women at any age, size, or activity level to learn how to take care of their bodies better. Gym was clean, neat and organized and there were two people working out independently in the zone. Met Coach Will that bc of his professionalism and knowledge (and maybe his dimples) made me join the gym. I truly hope the owners and staff have resolved some of the issues that I read from the previous post bc if I sense any shenanigans I'm out! Until then let's build these baby delts!

At the moment I am only doing 30 min sessions and although they are quick, they are fast-paced and effective (i.e. I now have a butt!) Like a few other commenters, I supplement my training with other activities like walking/running, etc. I could probably benefit from class pass or something else, but at the moment my schedule is only really suited for a twice a week thing. That being said, if you're like me and can only do this training as your means of working out, you WILL still see great improvements. I also do love the solo sessions verse being around other people who are watching you sweat and grunt in weird positions...unless you're into that.

I feel lucky to have found Greys Gym for a few reasons: 1) It's small and the one-on-one training…read moreis personable, effective and avoids the chaos of a big chain gym like Crunch. 2) As an over-50 guy, I need a training program that will challenge me, but not risk injury and the trainer I work with, Serge, is very sensitive to that. 3) It's in Clinton Hill, really close to my house in Fort Greene, and being able to walk down leafy residential streets a couple blocks to get to the gym and then stop in for a neighborhood coffee on the way home beats dealing with subways or traffic-clogged streets.

It's a convenient walk from neighborhoods including Ditmas Park, Prospect Park South, and Kensington. I find this means I will actually go! It isn't even the #1 closest to home but it suits me well. I find there's a more than adequate offering of free weights, cardio machines, and weight stations. It should allow me to switch up my routine over time. They also are not busy when I go.

They built me an entire custom routine and I've been seeing real results since working out here for the past few months. Like many I was a little intimidated by CrossFit Bc of the reputable intensity but this box makes it easy learn and challenge yourself while going at your own pace. The owner, Robie even accommodated my schedule and flexed with Foundations classes bc it was hard for me to make the schedules ones. Crossfitters here are diverse - all ages, sizes, fitness levels. This can be a great home base gym. Also reeeeally helps to motivate and get you in the fitness / health mind set. I am a serial fitness class taker so this is definitely up there in terms of experiences for me. Even just a few classes can already see my body change - which I cannot say is the case for all fitness regimens that I have tried.

I tried this gym out for 1 day with my bf after seeing a Groupon online for $60/one month unlimited. It's been a while since I've actively done Xfit and I thought it would be a great idea for my bf to try it as well even for just a month. I reached out to Coach Lloyd on 7/29 offering to pay directly at the gym (I try to do this to help business owners out because I know Groupon tends to take a big cut). Coach Lloyd responded that he prefers me to pay at the gym. I was completely fine with that. We show up on 7/30 as the class was starting and we were already warming up so we signed a few waivers and just started working out. We had a fun class, people were nice, and the WOD was whatever to be honest (not sure if it was programmed that way for Friday) - simple movements, no real rep cadence. Coach Lloyd was nice then and friendly and tried to help my bf with his toes to bar. I did note that they had no public chalk, which I thought was interesting because the bars were pretty slippery and could be a safety hazard. We leave and come back on Monday of the following week for another class. I only realized when I returned to the gym that we did not pay Friday because I didn't see a charge on my card. I assumed that Coach Lloyd had charged my BF because he had gotten to the 7/30 class earlier than I did. So I approached Coach Lloyd and asked to pay. He then proceeded to try and charge us the full price under the guise that since we did not pay last Friday. I was very confused since he didn't charge us Friday and let us work out without even a reminder to pay even though we had clear email communication. He then responded that "you forgot to pay and that groupon was for July, it's now august". (Wrong by the way, because the Groupon was still LIVE at that time...) I genuinely thought he was joking at this point since we have an email FROM HIM dated 7/29 confirming the price to be paid, and we showed up at 7/30 (before the groupon was over) and Coach Lloyd never once asked us to pay on 7/30. (Would you let people shop in your store and leave without paying? Is it more the buyer or the seller's responsibility here?) But he was serious about charging us the full price. (There's a huge difference between $60 and almost $200 for full price membership) Coach Lloyd, then begrudgingly (you can tell he was not happy about it) offered the groupon deal after we shared the facts. I then tried to add my card on zen planner over the weekend and it kept rejecting it so I ended up emailing Coach Lloyd again and he said due to new mask mandates that they can't accept new members anymore..... (does that even make sense? We had an agreement on the price and membership and all of a sudden, you can't join anymore). I bet if we were paying full price, they would have no problem with that. My friend Amber reached out to Coach Lloyd on Sunday and of course, Lloyd responded happily to have her join....(she showed me the email).... Lol, if you're going to straight up lie and use the pandemic as a guise for not accepting new members ... what horrible business practice here....cmon dude. He never responded to my email about having card issues. It just became very clear that he did not want us to join the gym. I'm pretty disappointed because I really wanted to give Xfit a shot again but this is not the place, not to mention, the train walk there is pretty scary from Atlantic Ave, even in broad daylight. I know it's tough to be a gym owner but this is not how you build loyalty, especially straight up lying to people. Please do not put a Groupon online if you don't want people to get that price... just feels pointless to do that and I would rather not be treated that way. I was pretty disappointed after this experience. I hope the gym owner takes this feedback to heart. (Everything I said above can be proven with emails and documentation so if you want to reach out to me, I can provide proof of everything.)

Favorite gym ever! This is what happened when people love…read morewhat they are doing. It was my first experience in a group class and cross-fit. I couldn't wish for a better place to start! No pressure, no judge, good vibes only! Coach is always in control of your technique and ready to answer all your questions. I was surprised how hard I can work in the group when everybody doesn't give up This energy is endless motivation! It's so much fun to do different workouts every time. Got the best form I have ever had after 3 months of regular training. Even feel the health improvement! Grateful for the atmosphere It means a lot, really Such a cool community! Also, convenient to book your spot in the app, usually street parking is easy to find. All Equipment sanitized before and after the workout Thank you guys for all the fun and support.
