The special that day (not on the menu) was their seafood stew. This has to be the fishiest, nastiest stew I've ever had. They threw in pieces of fish that was the "leftover fatty" parts, such as the pieces below the head/fins in tidy pieces. The mussels are ok and there was 3-4 pieces of shrimp. The positive part was that I split this with another adult and they graciously ladled two generous "half" servings as shown in the photo (likely to get rid of it). No lemon can save this. Their bread and butter was really tasty! The menu is relatively large for their "local/farm to table concept". I would suggest condensing the menu to only showcase the freshest ingredients for their best dishes instead of trying to cater to the masses, especially during low season. For three years of snowbirding, we have heard wonderful things about this place. As we live 30 minutes away, we finally gave it a try tonight. I'm so angry that we have not tried this place earlier! We were fortunate to have Denise as a waitress. She gave us excellent recommendations, and was a consummate waitress for us knowing the menu and wine list very well. From continually filling water glasses to her spot on service, she is excellent at her job. She explained the special for "off-season" in October, which is a specialized menu with soup or salad, an entrée, and a dessert for a mere $29 (Monday-Thursday). Though we had not come in for the special, we each ended up ordering off of this menu as the items we wanted to try were on this specialized menu. We could not be more happy with our selections! First of all, their wine list has something for everyone including a lovely selection of glasses, coupled with a fully rounded "by bottle only" selection. There is something for everyone and at many different price points. I am somewhat of a wine connoisseur, and appreciated their selections from California and abroad. I tried the potato leek soup, Husband had the salad. Both were flavorful and exactly what one would expect made with fresh ingredients. Next, our dinner selections. Husband tried the pork chop, I tried the bison meatloaf. (Don't laugh - it was a chilly night!) These selections were definitely made in-house. Full of flavor and excellent vegetables aside the entrées, this was comfort food on steroids. To top off the night, we split one of the included desserts and chose to take one home. The Key lime pie was absolutely fresh, and intertwined the perfect amount of tartness and a graham cracker nutty crust. We literally had the perfect dinner tonight. My only disappointment is that it took us multiple years to try FM Don's. If you are in Southwest Florida, do yourself a favor and try this wonderful place. It is evident that it is somewhere locals come, and they also draw from surrounding communities due to their Incredible meals. And best of all, they take reservations! We will be back.... SOON. This place was hard to find, has a very limited menu and their gluten free options are no options at all if you want a GF wrap only but service was decent (that's why they got two stars). First time here and I ordered chicken bacon sandwich with a GF wrap, because they didn't offer GF bread, and fries. The hubby ordered a wedge salad with their potato leek soup. My fries why greasy hard and lukewarm, they forgot the bacon in the wrap, the chicken was tasteless and the wrap broke apart into a million pieces. The waitress was nice enough the bring me two pieces of bacon. My husband said the soup was good, it tasted like mashed potatoes. The wedge salad was made with romaine instead of iceberg and they made sure to leave the hard core of the lettuce for him, which he didn't like. Not much of a menu. Inside is much bigger than I would have expected. We sat in an inside booth. Decor is clean, upscale. Lighting was nice. Server was excellent. He knew the menu items, was attentive, knew which meals could b gluten free. Restrooms are clean and upscale. Ordered a couple filets and the bison meatloaf. All arrived hot, at the same time, nicely plated. The bison meatloaf was the best, but the filet was also tasty and tender. Filet could use a bit more seasoning and char, but even as it was, we enjoyed it. We were mixed on the shiitake mushroom sauce that comes on it so was glad I got it on the side. Next time I'd like to try a salad as well. Entrees seem to average $20-25. Filet is around $40. Didn't think this was bad as all include mashed potatoes and veggie with a decent helping of the main protein. We are big eaters and all completely finished our meals, but felt like we had plenty. Appreciated their nice wine glasses and that the wine came out in a mini carafe. It just feels better to drink wine out of a nice glass & I like to only pour in 1/2 at a time so thanks for that. We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. The space is open, bright and with chic decor. They had live music which was a nice touch! Our group each ordered a different item. I got a salmon caesar salad and was pleased to see the portion was generous. My son's shrimp & grits was smaller than we had hoped. He has a big appetite and the entree wasn't enough for him.
