This is the second oldest building in the area. They can tell you the whole story on the shanty that is the oldest. This stands as a bar and restaurant, an old ice house. It's pretty good! It's always packed. I've been a couple times for drinks, never for food. The food looks amazing though; standard pub fare. They have a short cocktail list and I've discovered that it doesn't change. The bartenders can typically make what you want even if it's fancy. Plenty of seats at the bar, in the bar area, or in their dart hall. They have dart leagues throughout the week. Lately they started this new trivia thing, which is fun. Service is good. Drinks are great. Check it out if you're in the area. Nice people. Always good conversation. read more

1 star for the location which is great! 1 star for the charcutie board. 1 star for beer options. Punta Gorda is known for good food and smiling faces but not here sadly. The service was terrible. The staff from behind the bar to those cleaning tables are unhappy people. Maybe they had a busy day earlier but it did not sit well with the four of us and others as well. First time here, and I've got to tell you it was not a good experience. My poor spouse went home hungry due to very poor food and service. Drinks (Iced tea and water) took over 20 minutes to arrive, food took over 45 minutes to arrive and when it finally did my dish (Cod) was served cold because waitress (Brittany) was too busy inside with her tables to bring our food to our table. My spouses Chicken soup was served cold and clumpy and not soup consistency at all. Now we know why this place had so many mixed reviews. Just returned for dinner a couple days ago and I got the Icehouse Cheeseburger ($16.99). There is a choice of cheese - I had cheddar. It comes with the usual lettuce, tomato and onion and I added I did top it with bacon(+$1.00). I saw that they have a homemade Guinness gravy, so why not try a little as a dip for the fries. A small side cup was provided (+$0.50). The burger is a full half pounder and cooked as ordered, medium rare. Tasty beef and all the toppings just made it even better. The Guinness gravy is the bomb. Such a unique departure from malt or ketchup. Not a strong beer flavor at all so everyone would enjoy. I had to try some tap beer. 1st -Sierra Nevada - Draught Style Pale Ale. ($8.50/20 oz.). Good flavor with just a little hops at the finish. I also had a Wrexham Brewery - Wrexham Lager (same price/size). A light golden lager, not at all bitter, with a nice aroma. Feels Like An English Pub and Great Food Worthy of 5 stars, but with no low tables inside, I deduct 1 star. This place was an old ice house many years ago and has been transformed into a fun authentic English style pub. We found plenty of free parking in the area close to the pub. We entered a covered patio area with many low chairs and tables, several TV's and a bar. You pass through a sliding door into the main dining room and game area with more TV's. No shortage of sports video here. All of the inside seating is hi-top tables and chairs. If you're short and struggle to get into a hi-top, or dislike having your legs dangle, like my wife, you have to sit out on the patio. There are plenty of fans to move the air and on the evening we dined it was hot - 98 degrees, but the fans kept it bearable. This place is for beer lovers with 34 beers on tap, 150 more from 15+ countries in cans and bottles. I really enjoyed my Irish favorites: Guinness, Smithwick's and Harp on tap. Chelsea was our server and though she has tables inside and out, she never let us sit with empty glasses. She did a great job of explaining favorites and how to get the current beer list on my phone with the QR code scan. The menu had many things that we wanted to try, but we narrowed it down to two. My wife had the Cottage Pie ($14.99). Plenty of seasoned Angus beef, onions, carrots and peas simmered in a flavorful, hearty Guinness gravy, topped with mashed potatoes and cheese and baked to a golden brown. You can substitute chicken in Belgian gravy. My wife shared one forkful with me and it was excellent. I chose the Fish Sandwich with an 8 ounce portion of blackened redfish. It normally comes with a Belgian ale battered fried cod. You can also substitute in grilled redfish. I was pleasantly surprised when they delivered my sandwich. There was a very nice size seasoned fish filet sitting on a toasted roll with lettuce, onion, tomato and dill pickles. The aroma from the fish seasoning was outstanding. The sandwich comes with chips (like steak fries), coleslaw and a homemade tarter sauce. The coleslaw was just OK, nothing memorable. The chips were good when hot, not so good when they cooled off. I did like just a little of the tarter sauce with the fish. I really enjoyed this fish sandwich. After dining, there are free darts and pool tables inside. Darts and cue sticks are available to use at no cost. There is an entire wall of dart boards with chalk scoreboards next to them. What a fun place. So hey Ice House Pub, put some low tables inside so the short people can get into the AC when it's hot outside. Thank you in advance. read more

Had this for lunch the other day with coworkers. I ordered a club wrap (ham and turkey deli meat). The wrap was good but it had red onions on it. The Ice House is exactly that, a huge brick building with tall walls that provided ice mainly to fishermen during the late 19th century and into the early 20th. Today it has a new mission to provide British pub food to its customers. Menu is varied from burgers,Fish and Chips, Soups, Bangers, Salads and wraps. The food is good our party of four ordered a variety of dishes along and no complaints. Staff is pleasant, Decor is the architecture and history is fascinating. Ambience tolerable. Full bar, seating is high top which is somewhat undesirable however, It's a neat experience and I recommend you put it on your bucket list. read more

Whenever I go to an English pub I have to have the fish and chips. I can say this place has really good fish and chips but probably not the best I've ever had, therefore the 4 stars instead of 5. But they were very good ad well worth it and I only had the 4 oz version. The waitress Brittany was excellent. My wife had the cheeseburger and also was very good. The ambience was good. Ashley is a fantastic bartender and waitress. Loved the fruit punch she made me. Very Florida casual so don't expect a fancy place. I must admit we were only outside because we had my dog. Our server/bartender was spot on excellent. It's hard to find a server this attentive let alone one that is the outdoor bartender. The outside was fairly full and a dj was getting ready. We had the Tuesday special chicken wings for .75 each. They were freshly cooked and plum and thick wings. Not the small ones. I had the garlic sauce. Very nice. Mom had the medium heat. Not hit at all. We both ordered a side of blue cheese and celery. Then we had the spiral cut potatoes. Not what I was expecting. They were thin cut and oh so good. They were more like thin cut potato chips. We both loved those. You should try them. The portion is huge. Enough for 2 of us. Ambiance 4 stars based on the type of place. Food 5 stars. It was excellent Service 5 stars. Ashley was fantastic. Noise level prior to DJ was just right for the space. Outdoor seating does allow smoking. Went there Friday night and ordered the 4 ounce cod . It came back in pieces pushed together with batter and was the most disappointing cod that I was ever served . We got our meals and my wife's chicken fingers came 15 minutes after ours . They were little chunks not fingers , mostly batter . The hamburger is amazing there and I usually get that . The salads are also good . The artichoke appetizer was the best that I have ever had . The selection of draft beer is good with good descriptions. This is definitely one of our fun "go to" places when we are in the area. We have never had anything we didn't like from The Bangers & Mash to fish and Chips. But our favorite of all is the Artichoke appetizer. They are very lightly breaded and fried and served with a side of ranch dressing we have never found anything that compares. The Bangers & Mash was definitely not authentic, the mashed potatoes were okay, the gravy wasn't great and the sausage had no flavor. The steak sandwich was good, had a little kick but good. The best was the appetizer which was the Loaded Tater Tots which earned the three stars and I would definitely get them again. The Lemonade had no flavor. We stopped here for lunch when we were in the area. My dad had been here years before and remembered liking it; I'm willing to take a chance on a restaurant that sticks in someone's head after eight years. They have an extensive beer list and a full bar. I had a hard time deciding on a beer because there were so many options, including rare beers (I see you, Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Biscotti Stout). I opted for a Sierra Nevada beer that sounded light and crisp and wasn't disappointed. The food menu is a little limited but everything we saw being brought out to tables looked good. I had the chicken and chips, which I am proud enough to admit was basically chicken tenders and fries. Everything was delicious. The chicken was well-seasoned; the fries were crisp. Our server Casey (Kasey?) was great. She greeted us right away and checked in throughout our meal at all of the right times. Great experience for a late lunch. The old building sits across from an empty lot which was full with no room to park. First don't go to Ice on Mon/Wed dart night. If there were 2.5 stars they'd get that. Is it so packed even with a reservation for 6p at 6 our food service took just under two hours. The food is mostly all fried and nothing phenomenal. The cheese curds were great! mushrooms overcooked, onion soup too sweet, Caesar a classic, the red drum was amazing. Not a four thumbs up experience. Talked with mgt re: our wait compared to other tables they were dismissive and unaccountable and said the staff was overwhelmed and they can't do more than they are doing. Great pub inside the historic ice house building. The vibe is fun and unique. The high ceilings keep the place from getting too loud but adds to the charm. The bar area is great for a casual beer or lunch while watching a game. The menu has a British flare to it with dishes like bangers and mash, fish and chips, and Shepards pie. We had the chicken and chips which was a nice alternative to fish and chips. The French onion soup was thick and flavorful. One of our party had a chef salad which was huge and filled with fresh ingredients. For evening entertainment there is an entire wall of darts to go with the large drink menu. I can't say enough good things about this place. The owners are fantastic and an excellent selection of beer. The fish and chips are tasty and reasonably priced. i've tried everything on the menu, and I have friends that come from New England specifically just to eat the steak sandwich. If you're really into an incredible meal, go for the scramble. It's a cheeseburger with all the fixings inside out! This gets pretty busy, but it's worth it. They have free darts, and it truly feels like a British pub. The history of the ICE house is fascinating. Go there, spend a few hours, have some pints, and enjoy the ambience. This is the 3rd time in recent months that we have had lunch in the IH. On the two previous occasions the food and service left a great deal to be desired. This time the food ( cheeseburger and fries) were again mediocre at best. The meat tasted frankly of thawed reheated meat . Flavorless bland and only warm. The French fries were cold and soggy.
