The Perfect Caper truly lives up to its name! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Grace. Although we didn't have a reservation, she graciously invited us to sit at the bar, which turns out to be a fantastic vantage point. Our server Jacob was exceptional - he took the time to explain the menu and after learning it was our first visit, told us "Welcome to your new favorite restaurant". He was spot on; this is officially our new go-to-spot. Between the stellar service, extensive menu, and gorgeous food presentation, it is clear this kitchen has it going on. We loved hearing Jacob speak so highly of the owner and her impressive accolades on Food Network. We even looked it up, she is amazing. It is clear why the quality is so high here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this for your next dining choice.
The entire visit was an experience in itself! From the moment we entered till the moment we left, the service was spectacular, and the food was amazing. We were a table of six on our waiter was extremely informative and helpful as we chose our wine. Service was at a relaxed pace, but on perfect for the food type. We ordered the calamari as well as the spicy mussels (I can't remember the actual title, but they are the house specialty) and both were fantastic Everyone at the table other than me ordered the Duck a deux and I had the miso salmon. The food came out at the same time and you could tell that it was good because no one was talking, just eating and sighing with delight. I truly thought I was too full for dessert, but it turned out. I had just enough room for the pistachio financier, which was a special for the evening and it was beyond delicious. Everyone else ordered the crème brûlée and was satisfied, but I can honestly say I was glad I chose the cake! I would definitely return to this restaurant to order other items on the menu. I want to try it all!
My sister loves this place and always recommended. In town, considering a move here so-- Food: Can't argue food was excellent. We ordered a couple of salads and I had a Brussels sprouts apple version off their lunch menu. Fresh, well seasoned. My friend ordered a Cobb salad version which was at least 40% larger than mine - so portion size needs improvement. I tried that one as well and it was excellent. Service: Rushed to order and generally made to feel that we're done a great favor to be seated at 2:15p, excuse me 2:17p for lunch. Walk in, host are you folks here for dinner? Me: no lunch. Host: we stopped serving lunch. Me: when? Host:215p. Me: it's 217? Host: let me check. Ok, we will do it this time. 5 minutes later from kitchen: WTF, f this god-- etc. waitress: you need to hurry up and order because lunch is over. Who stops serving lunch @215p anyway, if it's that big a deal- just let customer know I can go somewhere else. Food 5 stars. Staff/service 2 stars.
Excellent service and meal for a late lunch/early dinner! My friend is celiac and they had great options for her. She had a dish she she loved with shrimp and gluten free pasta. They even had a homemade gluten free roll. She says it tasted more like a biscuit but it was good. I had the filet with Bernaise sauce, whipped potatoes and green beans. It was cooked perfect! The focaccia bread they serve with olive oil and parm is excellent! My only disappointment was that I was so full I didn't have room for dessert!
10/10.. great ambiance ..they were wonderful and super friendly staff, our waiter Zach was great. very knowledgeable of the menu and pairings of drinks vs meal options.. we had the calamari which was great! better with an extra side of sauce.. I chose the papradelli and mushrooms side of bread and my dad got the lamb rack. great experience! we finished with a chocolate cake which was very heavy and rich. can't wait to comeback!
The crabby scallops were truly amazing. The house made focaccia bread was a great touch and the expresso martini was perfection!
WOW! What a hidden gem. My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant on a weekend getaway to the Sunseeker resort. My husband wanted to get away from the resort and try out some local spots and we are SO glad we did. We sat at the bar which was an incredible experience chatting it up with the staff and watching the love they all pour into each drink, meal, etc. The teamwork on display was so cool to witness. The manager was right there with them making drinks, serving up meals, etc. We had no idea the Chef was famous and on Food Network! And from the taste of everything, you can absolutely tell. There's such care that went into each menu item. So many unique flavors. Everything was wonderful! I want to take a minute to brag on our bartender. She was the star of the show!! She immediately made drink and food recommendations, she was a true professional. She put in so much care to each drink she made and every customer that dined with her. We were shocked to hear she had only been there for 1.5 years because she was an expert. We will absolutely be back and will recommend this place to our family and friends who visit!!
The food is delicious, the service attentive and pleasant. However the restaurant is very loud because of the bar. Avoid on weekends if you want a quiet dinner. Skip the fries because they are very overdone. The scallops are excellent, and the salmon is very good. They have a very nice hot cappuccino
Had an amazing meal at The Perfect Caper! Best meal in ages! Hubby had the Moroccan lamb with green beans and fingerlings. It was by far the best lamb I have ever had. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had the Fig & Pig or something which was a bone in chop with an amazing fig jam and strawberries on it. Would never have thought to put strawberries but with the seasoned pork and the jam gave a sweet jammy taste with the savory pork. The potatoes and carrot baked was so good. It had some cheese in it almost gratin but better and I tasted a hint of nutmeg in there. The salad was excellent too. The dessert was banana cream pie which is a favorite of mine but you rarely find it on a menu. It was divine!! There is no better banana cream pie than the rose Plantation up near The Villages but this came in at a pretty great second place. It was excellent! The whole meal was decadent. Cocktails were great too! The Pink Fadora was a good tart drink! Service was outstanding!
Came here for my birthday dinner November 2024. Dark environment which was good for a late dinner reservation. My boyfriend did call ahead and request champagne at the table which they didn't have (he had to ask again after we were sat) but that was the only misstep. Service was terrific. I opted for soup of the day but it was butternut squash and we asked the waitress for a suggestion. She pushed the mushroom appetizer on us. I was hesitant as it was $18 and I had only recently started to enjoy eating mushrooms after a lifetime of being anti-mushroom. GET. THE. MUSHROOM. Hen of the wood (maitake). It was crispy and meaty and the depth of flavor was so good I've been chasing it ever since that night. Calamari was standard if not sub par. Breading had no flavor and it was served with the sweet chili sauce. I like Bahama Breeze better even. We had the miso salmon udon and some duck breast. The duck had no flavor in our opinion (especially if you're used to eating Chinese prepared duck). Miso salmon udon was so good although the "udon" noodles looked and tasted like linguini. Though they assured us it was udon. Flavor was verrrrry good. Drinks were good and bartender/waiter was nice and chatty as we inquired about drinks.
We just celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary at this restaurant! The food was excellent!! The service extraordinary! Yvonne, our service was very personable and attentive! I had the 14oz strip and my wifey had the crabby scallops. We also had the sweet and spicy calamari! ( delicious) we brought home the crème brûlée. it was on the expensive side , however , well worth it!!
What a WONDERFUL leisurely lunch we had! Our 40+ Charlotte County Girlfriends came together for another afternoon filled with great food, wonderful conversations, smiles, and plenty of laughter!The Perfect Caper's Our Girlfriends, dine on TPC delightful Mushroom Soup (Bowl/Cup), great salads with protein of Salmon, grilled seasoned Chicken, Pasta dishes with seafoods, many order their beautiful muscles! Others order their plentiful Lobster & Mac & Cheese, Flaunt, so many to mention them all! No one utter a word as I walked around to check on them. Other than "YUM, so good" Chef Jean & her Staff lead by GM Gabe do a phenomenal service in support of Charlotte County's community! One of the things I LOVE most about our lunches is seeing new faces at the tables! Every table had one--or even two--newcomers, and as always, our Girlfriends welcomed them with open arms, warmth, conversation, and plenty of laughter. That's what CCGF is all about... making connections, welcoming new friendships, and making sure EVERY Girlfriend feels like she belongs! Friends rave about this place. I finally had a chance to go. I called because open table has zero availability. The hostess answered and she told me I could have a table for one at 7:15! Ok! I got dressed up and walked over there. My table was ready on time; it was in the lounge area of the restaurant. They offered me the table or said I could sit at the bar. I opted to sit at the bar. The bar was almost full but people were leaving. Apparently people eat early there. The bartender was swamped but smiled and got me a glass of water. Soon I had menus. I like that they have a regular menu as well as a specials menu, including the usual cocktails and some special cocktails. I ordered the conquest, which seemed like a twist on an old fashioned. They offered bread or focaccia bread, I declined. And heads up- bread service is not included. It's an up charge. Normally I don't care but I was having dessert, not bread. I had the halibut special. It was phenomenal. One of the guys from the kitchen dropped it off and asked if I needed anything'- I replied salt. I find that I need salt often at restaurants. They brought the salt out real fast! I had a bite and determined it didn't need any more salt- it was perfectly salted! Woohoo! Fantastic. I ate my whole dish and then I savored my cocktail. The bartender wasn't much for conversation , as she was very busy, alone, covering the entire bar and drinks for the whole restaurant. She did invite me to try dessert, and mentioned a coconut cream cake that was not on the menu. I agreed to it and it was heavenly. Seemed like cheesecake icing with fluffy layers of cake and subtle coconut flakes throughout. The chocolate ice cream was weird at first but then I realized it's like almond joy/ mounds - coconut and chocolate are often paired. The espresso crumble gave it a nice crunch and there was caramel all over the plate. Wow! I took the majority of the cake home. It was a large portion and indulgent. I paid my tab and finished my drink. I was not rushed. I would go back again. It's a bit pricey. The fish special was $58. The cocktail was $17 and the dessert was $16. So one person, who did not add on the bread service, was $91. It's expensive. I would emphasize you can probably get a seat at the bar if you can't get a reservation. Also- the entrance is hard to find. It's in the parking lot and not facing the main road. I got a little lost walking there. The signage is poor. I can't imagine going there the first time in the dark. So give yourself a couple extra minutes if it's your first time going there. read more

Perfect Caper is one of our most favorite places to dine at in Punta Gorda! The food, service is always spectacular! We love bringing our visiting friends here as well as dining here for special celebrations! They make everyone feel special here! read more

Incredibly excellent meal at the Perfect Caper! Easily the best restaurant in the Punta Gorda / Port Charlotte area. Our server was Rania who was extremely nice and very helpful in explaining everything on the menu. Tonight I tried their venison with chanterelles - the best venison I've had yet. read more

The service was spot on. Very easy to work with. The ambiance is an excellent romantic location. Private booths line the wall. We choose to sit in a 1/2 booth table combination since mom is 94. We had wine which I give them 5 stars for their selection of individual or bottles. We had the squash soup which we made sure the bowl was empty. The special was Tile fish which if you live in SW Florida you'll know what a treat that is. I added scallops to my meal and I was disappointed at how they were overcooked. No worries our waiter immediately went to the kitchen and had them remake the scallops. Wow. They were fantastic. We also had the crab cakes. The 2 that had them were very satisfied. Trying to find the front door and parking lot can be a bit of a challenge. The outside of the building is kind of blah. My sister in law was a bit worried. Once inside she immediately changed her mind. Nice bar area which is behind the secluded tables. Very clean and well taken care of. The bar was well stocked. I like Rye Bourbon and I had several ones to choose from. That's impressive to me. My old Fashioned was quite tasty. We will be back. What an excellent hidden Jen. read more

Service was amazing. Thank you Mason. You are a true gentleman. Our martinis were made by Gabe. They were awesome. He started out with the famous curry muscles, they were nothing to scream about. I know the chef beat Bobby Flay with it, however, there was no curry taste. It was not a star stopper. As for the homemade New England clam chowder, a girl from New England, it tasted so fishy and grindy. We couldn't even eat it. We ordered the sirloin, medium rare, absolutely perfect. However, the side lobster mac & cheese was horrible. Again, fishy and grindy. The green beans were not haricots verts - French green beans - was not served. But the green beans were good! I do enjoy the Perfect Caper, however, this experience was not enjoyable to eat. And it was my birthday. n.b. Clause the bartender. You get more with honey then you do with vinegar! read more
