Visited on a Saturday early afternoon for a casual lunch with friends. Inside was packed with a wait, so we opted to sit outside by the water. The view was beautiful, would probably be a great spot to watch the sunset! Boaters can also tie up to the dock. Even on a hot day, the breeze kept us comfortable, and plenty of shade from umbrellas over tables (unfortunately, ours was broken). I had to order the poutine, as a diehard poutine lover. At $18 for a small-ish plate, this was on the pricy end, BUT in fairness, the dish comes with a protein. I thought it skewed overly salty (maybe due to the cotija cheese topping), but ok. My friends had wings and pineapple steak tacos; overall, we were mostly satisfied but felt we paid for the view more than the food itself. I would be back for the vibes at sunset. read more

We stopped by The Islands PC for lunch while in Punta Gorda and really enjoyed it! The mac and cheese with jerk chicken was absolutely delicious--super flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Everything tasted fresh, and I liked that the food is made to order. I also appreciated that they had a few vegan options on the menu, making it easy for everyone to find something they'd enjoy. The atmosphere was really nice and relaxed, perfect for a waterfront lunch. The only thing I'd mention is that it was a little chilly inside with the A/C, so I'd recommend bringing a hoodie if you're planning to dine indoors. We didn't have a reservation so we had to dine inside. There was zero air movement and the doors were closed. There was a lady by the window, I would imagine warmer and she had sweat running down her face. We thought it was a drink and run because all of us run cold but it was h-o-t. But within maybe 20 minutes air started flowing. So someone got the message across. 2. The table was soaked with water from being what looks like washed. The hostess sat the menus on the tables and the menu became glued to the table. I used my napkin to dry the table and all the menus. 3. We ordered sushi, fish tacos and a hamburger. The fish tacos came out very fast. That was great for the 1st while the rest waited. He felt bad that everyone else was waiting so he offered his side of beans and rice for others to taste. All agreed the beans were tasteless - zero flavor. 4. Then comes the hamburger. Cooked perfectly and was ok but nothing to remember. The beans, as well, tasteless (no one at the table wanted to try again) and the rice was at the bottom on the pan because it was so crunchy, we thought it was old. 5. After I finished my hamburger, here comes the sushi. I heard it was ok but nothing amazing and nothing they were return to have there again. It was cooked good but the flavors were a big miss. I do believe they are fairly new to this location and perhaps working out all the wrinkles. So I post this to hopefully help them do just that. I will be back as I'm at the Village often. We have been to the islands about 8 times recently. The first time was great food and service. Everytime since, the service and food are worse. When we got there today at 1:00, no one even achknowledged us for over 20 minutes. They weren't busy at all yet. I ordered sushi. My husband ordered grilled octopus. It came 20 minutes after mine. And it was burnt. Black. Very disappointed. And we were so excited when they first opened. Because everything was perfect. It will be a while for us to try it again. read more

What a great place! We were shown a table outside with a great view when other restaurants had long lines on a Friday night. It was good to try this new place. The sun was a little warm and our server, Karen offered us a table nearby in total shade, but we would have a different server. I told her no way! We want you. I could tell she from NYC, so we are her people. Haha Could not have asked for better service and it was a great meal. Can't wait to come back. Araya is such a brand ambassador for The Islands! I love it when the server actually has an opinion about their favorite items in the menu and why. She helped me select the Caribbean Cobb salad which was loaded with sweet, savory, (slightly) salty, and (slightly) spicy ingredients- all together delicious! Pull it up on the menu for detailed descriptions. My other choice was a sushi roll, but I'll have to come back to try that next time. House wine, though a bit pricey at $10, was pleasant, as was the view and the ambiance outside on the water. Staff was extremely friendly and worked together as a team. Kudos! read more

The only good part of our experience was sitting at the bar for one drink, waiting for lunch to begin-great service! We were then seated by the water to order our meal. Ordered crab cakes sliders and the crab bombs. Services was horrible for us and 3 other tables. The crab sliders came out without the crab bombs. After waiting over 10 minutes, went inside to speak with the manager-she never came to the hostess station. To make a long story shorter, declined the crab bombs and asked to have them removed from my bill. My husband then went inside to speak with the manager and she blamed it on the heat-for God sakes, we live in Florida. Our service was extremely slow. Drinks took 15 minutes, appetizer another 15 and entree 16plus. So the waitress never came over to tell why things were taking so long. It was my wife's 70th and we were celebrating and I told her that. But for reasons unknown we were served much slower than all the other clientele who came after us and finished while we still waited. The insult of it all was the manager who did not apologize AT ALL for our feeling of being ignored (I had to ask the BARTENDER what was the delay!) This was the complete opposite of the service we received the first time we were there. Stopped by this new Fisherman Village restaurant on St Patrick's day after my appt in Punta Gorda, was looking forward to trying it out for a while now since they opened up in my used to be fave restaurant The Pier. Not much changed as far as interior/exterior, felt somewhat the same. I didn't ask for a table as I was by myself, glad I could find a free spot in the bar. Besides, everyone being busy as crazy cause of St Patrick day, I was served pretty quickly. Got their last Guiness (at 3pm!!!), and their specialty cocktail The Anchor!! The menu was limited because of the gas leak in PG, but I wasn't upset, I was there to try some sushi ! Orochimaru roll was great w octopus and very enjoyable! I genuinely felt bad for her because, at one point, she came back from the kitchen in tears. I don't know what happened, but it appeared that something had upset her. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service issues. Overall, I'd rate it about a 4.5/10. The red snapper was undercooked, which was especially disappointing for a restaurant located right on the water. I expected fresh seafood to be prepared properly, but this dish missed the mark. Karen mentioned that the chef was almost Michelin-star rated. After eating here, I found that hard to believe. In my opinion, I've made better-tasting meals at home using canned ingredients. The quality and execution simply didn't live up to the expectations that comment created. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. The softshell crab was extremely overcooked, battered and so salty there was no crab flavor at all. The very worst sushi I have ever had. The guys ordered Cuban Tripleta Wraps which, contained more gristle and fat then actual meat. Each bite contained big pieces the bacon fat, not actual bacon. Pork contained fat and gristle. Not sure what the other meat / fat was. The fries were good. 1 Duck Taco, the meat was dry and was heavily seasoned with gloves. 1 Lobster Roll this was the real failure. The cold lemon aioli was missing along with the minced celery and crispy fried onions and was served on a what seemed like a 5-day old sub roll. It was so hard it could not be eaten. There was a lot of lobster though. The plantain chips were very dry and flavorless. The waitress saw our plates and should have noticed that the majority of the food was still on the plates. I recently visited the Islands Kitchen & Cocktail House at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda, and I ordered the Cashew and Marcona halibut. The rice was old, cold, and hard, as if it had been sitting for hours. The halibut itself did not taste fresh at all--it had the texture and flavor of frozen fish that had been reheated. It was bland, lacked seasoning, and had none of the freshness you would expect from a premium seafood dish. What made the experience even worse was the lack of concern from the staff. The waitress asked how my meal was, but when I expressed my dissatisfaction, she made no effort to offer a replacement dish or find a solution. It felt as though once the order was served, the restaurant no longer cared whether I enjoyed my meal. Paying market price for frozen-tasting fish and receiving indifferent service is unacceptable. Restaurants build loyalty by standing behind their food and caring about their customers' experience. Unfortunately, this restaurant did neither. We went to The Islands 3 times in the past week. 1st time we stopped in for a drink to check it out. We had amazing bartenders, cold beer and fabulous cocktails. We decided that we needed to come back for dinner. 2nd time we sat outside and hade Bryce as our server. We ordered halibut, the Cuban sandwich and a couple of the sushi rolls. The food was absolutely delicious. The Cuban and Halibut were generous portions, enough for leftovers the next day. The ambiance, food and service convinced us to return for Easter Sunday. Our 3rd time didn't disappoint. We ordered the deviled eggs, salmon, scallops and bruschetta. It was a perfect day and meal for an Sunday lunch. Being very busy in High season we were delighted with our server. We appreciated her efforts. Our meals were very plentiful and some of them were exceptional. I would not order again the Cuban sandwich, but would order the octopus over and over again and the lovely appetizer beef kebabs they were excellent. I would certainly go there again. read more

Firsts off, our waitress (Coleen) needs some training - we waited 10 minutes for her to take our drink order; then it took another 10 to get them; that would have been forgiven but both drinks were terrible. I ordered a White Russian and she ordered a Mai Tai. I specifically told Coleen how to make the WR and she said she had to write it down (it's only vodka, kahlua, and cream - a third, a third, and a third ...not too difficult) Well, apparently they didn't understand that. There was too much vodka, not enough kahlua, and they used 2% milk - the drink sucked. I asked her to sweeten it up with some Kahlua and she said she couldn't help me with that. Ok. So I asked someone else and they brought me a shot. That cost an extra $8 - since it was top shelf vodka the drink ended up being $24. The Mai Tai that didn't taste like there was any liquor in it was $15. We moved on to wine. Don't order the chicken wings - they were dry, overcooked and had no taste. The guacamole with smashed plantains had NO TASTE whatsoever. Bottom line: service sucked, the bartender can't make a drink, the food while astronomically expensive sucked - she liked the fish.
