The service was incredibly painless at this station! I'm really grateful that the technician (I believe the same man described on this page as "tall" and with "salt and pepper colored hair") helped me navigate my smog test so swiftly and painlessly. During the wait, I was about to begin recruiting other Pokemon GO players online for an Articuno raid down the street; but, before I could enlist any help, the technician had already finished the smog test and sent confirmation to the DMV (or to whatever party is meant to receive info of my pass). The technician also gave me some really welcome advice about my vehicle (he said he owns/used to own the same model as mine). I now have a new sticker for my license plate (which was the long-term goal for getting the smog test) so I'm pleased on all fronts. P.S.: Bring yo materials * The document from the DMV with your VIN, etc. that indicates that your vehicle's due for a smog test * A print-out of the discount image/coupon on this page read more

Quick, inexpensive and so very friendly. Don't waste your time going somewhere else. Farhen is the best!

I really should have checked yelp before I drop in and got charged $80 for the smog test! I understand that having a coupon could save me some money, but I didn't expect the price to be such a huge difference. To me, that's just a dishonest practice. Later I heard that most of the other smog test locations have much lower standard drop in prices. read more

Super easy and quick in and out service. Also by far the cheapest Star smog test place around. Service was friendly.

I'm currently at the place. I should've walked away when I saw the price, but since I'm here to fail the test for the cash for clunkers program, the guy said maybe the people at the garage will buy it. They don't want it, and I'm an idiot for not getting out of here. It's still stupid expensive. The guy is nice enough, and quite helpful. read more

The best service I've ever had with a smog shop! Hassan was efficient and friendly, gave me tips and got me in and out in less than 7 minutes! I am very pleased and would recommend him to anyone who needs a smog. read more

EZ Star Smog Test Only 2 - My babe passed - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Berkeley, California

Great dad and son shop. Super friendly, fast, and convenient. Will go there every time I need a quick smog check.

I had a coupon for this business. My car is a 1997 although I couldn't use the coupon for it, they were flexible and gave me a discount. Their price was the most affordable in the area. read more

Very nice Turkish guy helped me. I told him about the yelp coupon before he started, he gave me the discount before performing the smog test. That was easy. Cool. Next, he was very clear in explaining that if I pass, it'll be $27 total and if I don't pass, it'll be $18.75. I happily went on my way, feeling good and giving him a little monetary tip. Very nice, professional, laid back and calm person. Easy breezy, it took maybe 12 minutes total from pulling in to lot and leaving. I personally do not enjoy car maintenance duties but this was so easy! I'm definitely coming back here again. Thanks, EZ Star SMOG TEST ONLY 2 :) Now, onto mailing payment registration to DMV... bleh. OH! They also sent in or notified through their computers that I passed to DMV. Something like that. Tip: They share their lot with very nice people and they're located to the very far right of the building. read more

I had to get my smog check done so I made an appointment online before hand. They were ready for me as soon as I got there and the entire process was very quick. The men working there at the time were very nice to me and really helped me out. They also let me use a cash only coupon even though I forgot to bring cash. They really made my day. Would recommend! read more

Excellent Service, Excellent Prices! "Turkish George Clooney" goes out of his way to make sure both you and your vehicle are treated properly. He found a latent issue with the vehicle, unrelated to the smog testing outcome, that could cause significant problems down the road if not attended to - thank you for pointing this out! A+++ Cheers! read more

Got my car smogged here on a Saturday morning with my bf around 9:30, had to wait about 10 min before I was helped. I chose this place after reading reviews on yelp about the price and coupon. Guy performing the test was very nice, started the smog without saying anything. In the middle of it he asks if that's all I need, and I said yes, he told me it would be $80 bucks. I told him that I heard about the coupon and he goes, which one? I told him, I saw it on your site! He demands that I show him. In a rush, I pull out my phone and try to get him the yelp coupon and just click on the "coupon tab". He looks at it and says okay, $20 dollars off, and leaves to keep going on with the test. I ended up paying $60 for the test which is a ripoff when I had expected to pay $30 or less by just mentioning that I saw the coupon like other yelp users did. Its my fault for not being more aggressive about the pricing, but I guess I'm just not that type of person. He was really nice, service was quick and easy, and I would want to go back here again, but his doubtful attitude towards customers left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Open early at 8:30am. I was able to walk in with my 2012 Prius and get a smog check done in 15 minutes. There is a Whole Foods a block away if you want to shop. $8.25 cash for the smog certificate. Great deals on Groupon for smog check, in Sept 2020. Fast professional, excellent! read more

My wife got me a Groupon for this place since I need it a smog for my Lexus. I went there without making an appointment, but he took me in and the smog was done in less than 10 minutes and passed. The dude is straight to the point, no unnecessary chitchat or ice breaker talks which I do not mind. I recommend it to other drivers who needs smogs done. read more

It that time of year SMOG. Read many reviews and found this place via Groupon. The tech there provided excellent service and did both of my cars in less than 10-15 mins each. Highly recommended! read more

Hassan is so friendly and a fast worker. I got there at 2:20 and told him I had work at 3pm. I asked if he had time and if I would make it to work, which was about 5-10 min away. He said of course! There was one other customer ahead of me too. It really does only take 15-20 min for him to test your car. While I was waiting, there were many customers that came after me. This guy is really hustling to get the job done fast. Definitely would recommend and return to this place for a smog check. read more

After a tune-up, my 25-year-old car, that had been sitting idle for more than two years, needed a smog certificate to become registered again. A phone query told me where the nearest smog place was. It turned out to be the best smog place! After a half-an-hour of tinkering, the mechanic produced the certificate. He said, "Older cars require more work." He presented as a man of good will and good faith so I was ready to pay hundreds. It was surprising that the bill was only $70. read more

Fast, friendly and efficient. Tech took the time to explain new test process. Fair price, especially with the Yelp coupon! Highly recommend. read more

So I needed a smog check and this place is across the street. So I stop in. He wants to charge me $99. I'm like no thank you Sir, that's too high... so I go online and check for nearby Groupons.... just to find theirs for $34. I end up paying $42 as there's a state fee of $8. I thought this was shady. He did the work quickly though.... so I'm giving this business a 3 because he tried to over charge me. I encourage everyone to check for Groupons! read more

They gave me a good quote on the phone and said to come down right away, but when I got there they quoted me a higher price. When I told them about the phone quote they honored it, but it certainly wasn't transparent pricing. I also had to wait a bit for them to take my car after hurrying to get there. My car then failed the test, but they did give me a good explanation of the simple repair I needed to pass next time. read more

The manager Umit had great customer service ethic through the yelp quote message and when I arrived the tech greeted me right away and had me fill out a form. It took about 20-25 minutes. Super in and out. I passed week flying colors :) , I highly recommend this place. read more

If I could give this business more than 5 stars I certainly would. The owner of the business Jason gave me a great price, was very professional, friendly and knowledgable. You can just drop in or go onto their website and make an appointment. There was one other customer ahead of me. Between servicing that customer and doing the smog on my vehicle I was in and out in 45 minutes. For those of you that own cars, getting your car smog tested is required. When you need to have this done I highly recommend Jason at EZ Star. He did a fantastic job! read more
