Great service from the moment I stepped out of my car, I was greeted and told to move my car so I can be next for my test. Before starting the test I showed the manager the coupon and to my surprise he had already added it to the paper work which was great. I handed over my keys and he told me to wait about 10-15 min, which was faster than I expected since there was one car ahead of me. By the time he was finished he told me my car was in excellent condition and even told me if a mechanic said something was wrong to get a second opinion because my car runs great. When it came down to paying I realized I didn't have enough cash I said I would go to the gas station a crossed the street and he said no problem I can pay the rest of my amount with card since the gas station would have charged me $4 anyways, saved me time and money! I will definitely recommend my friends and family to come here amazing service! read more

Most places are RV phobic. "EZ Star Smog Test Only 2" is very friendly and helpful! First, I was able to make an appointment and when I showed up, Hassan guided me in so my RV didn't hit the low ceiling inside the garage. It's probably best to come in sideways, esp if you have a big RV so they can get your exhaust pipe close to the machine, but Hassan went the extra mile, got an extension cord to move the machine closer. He carefully removed and replaced the doghouse after the check, and even alerted me to a messy radiator leak. Not only that he gave me a flashlight and a clean cardboard box to lay on so I could go under there and SEE it. How cool is that!?! Of course I forgot the paperwork from the DMV, but I had my previous smog paperwork with my registration so that really helped, Hassan said. Here's a helpful FYI: if you have had a full engine replacement, unfortunately you have to go somewhere else, to a "referee" station. We were all good though, I passed. I was actually quoted the wrong price for my vehicle, it was supposed to be much more because of the size of my vehicle but the technician, Umit, said he would honor the incorrect quote anyways. Based on a recommendation from a neighbor, I went to EZ Star on a Wednesday afternoon without an appointment. The gentleman there, Hassan, made the whole experience so easy. He was welcoming, efficient and gave me the yelp coupon price even though I didn't have the coupon. The whole process took about ten minutes. This is the first time I have ever looked forward to returning to a smog test station next time I need to renew my registration. Would give him more than five stars if that were possible. read more

I have a 1995 Volvo so the yelp coupon didn't really apply. It was a fair price anyway since the gentleman, Hassan, who processed the test was professional, efficient, thoughtful and very friendly. He noticed I was low on windshield wiper fluid and added water without my asking. He also gave me advice about how to fix my hood which is difficult to open. I did ask him if he'd check my oil, which he did happily, since I have such a hard time getting the hood open and he advised me to add more within a certain time and also suggested I have it changed. I am happy CA has clean air standards and that gross polluters are not allowed on the road. However, with the two-year smog check requirement, it is easy to forget to stay on top of these things. With all the smog check stations out there and the Yelposphere thick with five-star smog places, it's a pain in the ass to zero in on one. The prices also vary widely, which boggles my mind. Smog checks, at least for newer cars, take like 10 minutes and can be more expensive than an oil change, which requires more resources and labor. I paid $60 for my first smog check in CA and was satisfied with the $34 price tag here (prices vary depending on the model of your car - I drive a boring 2008 Corolla [her name is Gerdy]). I did not need a coupon to get the $34-price and did not have to check in on Yelp or leave a five-star review! I am glad I stumbled upon this place. It was a hassle-free experience, and the gentleman working today was very nice and customer-oriented. I wish I would've gotten his name. Anyways, the whole process took five minutes once it was my turn. Thank you, also, for being open on Saturdays. The only thing that sucked was the San Pablo/Gilman traffic.
