This hotel doesn't have the best Yelp reviews, but sometimes it comes down to digging into the comments. You book this hotel for cost and convenience - We took a redeye to Dublin and landed at 8:30 am on a Saturday. We took the 9:20 am train to Galway. When we got to Galway, this hotel was a two minute walk from the train station and it was ready for check in at noon. Thats exactly what you want after not sleeping for 36 hours! We also were doing an all day Viator bus tour to the Cliffs of Moor and several other sites, and that was a five minute walk from the hotel. As others have noted, it's a super quick walk to Budget rental (where you can rent a car day of), as well as many restaurants and shops. Your room includes breakfast which was a pretty typical hotel breakfast. Was it noisy at night? Yes, our first night was a Saturday night in the city and you're above a pub! But we shut the window and popped in ear plugs and turned on the fan and we were fine. I slept through the entire night and I'm not a great sleeper. There is no AC because it's Europe and most cheap to mid-priced hotels don't offer AC. read more

I don't understand the reviews on here. We recently stayed at this hotel for hen and from the booking until check out I cannot fault the hotel. The staff was so nice and helpful. The rooms were large and clean. The breakfast was delicious and best of all the hotel is right beside everything! The parking is not within the hotel but at the shopping centre car park and depending what exit you come out of it can be a bit of a walk if you have a lot of bags but this is the only downside I found. I forgot this was only a three star, it seems more like a 4 star! Will definitely be back :) read more

Our first room was dirty. Moved to second with no mirror [IYKYK],had to ask for one. Had to ask for a new fan [second one didn't work either]. Tried hard not to be "too American " but it was difficult here. We traveled Ireland for 2 weeks and this was by far the worst hotel. Take a hard pass on this one friends. read more

If you are staying in the renovated portion of the hotel, you'll be fine. If not, best of luck to you. Our room was very outdated, badly patched walls, stains on the red carpet, weird smells coming from the restaurant next door and had to have the window open in summer. However that being said, it is centrally located to everything, 5-15 minute walk to everything we were looking for. The bed was clean and bathroom was clean which is essentially all we really needed. A slight step above a hostel. Tiny rooms with worn carpet and furniture. I understand air conditioning is rare in Ireland, but blasting music in the bar area and forcing us to listen to it through our open windows is obnoxious. Especially until midnight. Stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon with our travel agency booking our trip. We were promised a much better hotel on our itinerary but it got changed last minute to here (quite the downgrade). The first night we were put in an extremely outdated room and when doing research online and finding pictures of much better rooms we realized some are renovated and some are not. Our room had stained, red old carpet, lamps hanging out the walls, bathroom needed some serious help and mold in the crack, and it was sooo noisy! The TV was awkwardly placed on a desk on the side of the room with the bed facing a wall with nothing on it. And no room to put the TV in front. So weird. Don't even get me started on the breakfast the following morning that was 'included'. I was confused on what I was supposed to do when I arrived, there was a continental breakfast out for self-serve but menus on the table. The servers were walking around aimlessly and I had to stop one to ask the process. After ordering, it took a while to get our food but when we did mine was so gross I couldn't take more than 1 bite. The scrambled eggs wouldn't even stay on my fork, it was like they mixed it with something liquidy. Disgusting! There were also beans that I spit out into a napkin they were so bad. How do you mess up beans? We did say something the following day to the front desk and he moved us to the only other room available, but it was only a tad bit better. At least the bathroom was better and the TV was in the right spot. I can't comment on the price since it was a package deal through a travel company. read more

This is the most falsely advertised, overpriced disappointment in Galway. I should have checked Help first, but as a first time traveler, you live and learn, I guess. Hostel accommodations at a hotel cost. Amenities are outdated and that's being POLITE. The hair dryer is a wall mounted vacuum for God's sake. The spring mattress is old, slouched in the middle, and fitted with scratchy sheets. The pillows are mediocre. Rooms are drab to say the least, with stained carpet and wallpaper that appears to be peeling at the seams. Food was "okay," but definitely not excellent and I got a better deal paying less than 10 euro eating at coffee shops down the road. Now. All this is stuff the staff can't help, so I have to say that they were always polite and friendly and ready/willing to help. Good staff. Welcoming. But I would not recommend this hotel. I spent 500 USD (after conversion) for a mediocre hotel experience I thought was going to be stunning. If they'd charged 80 euros per night I'd have a very different review. 100% you're paying for the fabulous, central, walk-friendly location, and you're paying through the nose. Do yourself a favor and stay at a nice place that requires a short cab. You'll end up paying the same or close to it, but you'll actually enjoy your stay. read more

Horrible hotel, horrible customer service, and they either lost or stole the clothes I left behind. I honestly don't know where to start. The room itself is an eyesore. The place really is a dump. Adding insult to injury, the electricity kept shutting off. Constantly. We had to call the front desk, which of course never answers the phone. So we had to go down there 3 times to fix it. What is truly terrible, though, is after I left, I realized I left some of my clothes there. I called the front desk and they refused to look in the room, or even knock. When they finally had the maid come in, they said there was nothing there. So now this cleaning crew steals clothes. Amazing. They were not accomodating with my requests whatsoever. I had to call back over and over and finally had to go back to the hotel, where I talked to them in person. They could not care less. I'm 100% sure I left my clothes behind, and they're gone immediately. In all facets, whether it's how ugly and broken everything is, to the horrible customer service, to the fact that their staff steals clothes, this is easily the worst place I've ever stayed. I have some real mixed emotions about this place, so let's just get into it. Positive STAFF - While later Iw ill complain about some of the staff there is one gentleman there who's back must hurt from carrying that place. He was overly nice and helped in everyday he could. I saw him everyday we stayed there and he mostly worked in the bar/breakfast area during the day. He was quick to help and made me feel like my request were almost too little. I got an iced coffee from him at the coffee shop before breakfast and mentioned how I would be eating there that morning. He told me to go sit down and he delivered me a delicious iced coffee in a mason jar, a pitcher of water, and did it all for free with a smile on his face. I wanna give that man a smooch looking back on it lol. BREAKFAST - While the breakfast wasn't as nice as we had at a different hotel in Galway they still offered a hot option which our hotel in Dublin didn't. We got the full Irish, subbed out beans for hashbrowns and enjoyed our tasty meal. One day we also got the porridge at that was mediocre so the full Irish how I described it is where its at. There is also a cold breakfast served alongside which included cereal, juice, and some croissants. LOCATION - The hotel is located maybe 8 minutes away from the main action of all the pubs. We had just came from an outstanding hotel in Killarney so we were a little shocked to see all the trash and how dumpy the surrounding area looked. Once you get used to it and forget the heaven that the Randles house in Killarney provided, the location isn't too bad. There was a grocery store just across the street and a supremac's on the other side of the square for when you're coming home from the bars. DECORATION - The downstairs bar, coffeeshop, and breakfast area are just as well decorated as in the pictures. It is very pretty and there is plenty of space to get work done. Negatives ROOMS - Holy guacamole did this place piss me off with their room situation. Again as I have mentioned, the previous hotel was an absolute wet dream so my hopes were high. We had paid to stay in a superior king suite. After checking in, waiting for the only elevator up to the 4th floor and weaving our way through the maze of hallways and renovations, we were insanely disappointed at the room we walked into. There was nothing superior or king about this room. The bed was a solid queen AT BEST if not a full. The room was like a bad tinder date compared to the pictures. It was similar but damn lighting is everything. The room was extremely tiny and it was difficult to fit our 2 checked and 2 carry on luggage's in there. There was no dresser to put the clothes when we tried to unpack. The "big" tv they advertised was maybe a 20 inch and was off centered from the bed and you couldn't move it. The room also had one window that face inward but when it was open or even had the sheer curtains you could see right through it clear as day. There was no central lighting, just the two bed side lamps, and when you can't have the window open that was pretty annoying. There also wasn't any outlets next to the bed so if you wanted to charge something you would have to leave it on the other side of the room which might not be an issue for you is you aren't a Tik Tok addicted Gen Z like I am. After coming in heavily disappointed and throwing a little hissy fit I decided to call down to reception to figure out what the F was going on with this dump. I asked if this was the superior king room like we had booked and the front desk man was quick to say yes. Not taking that for an answer I repeated what room I was in and asked him to double check that this was a superior king room. THIS RAT BOY proceeded to tell me it was in fact " a superior room". Nice word play buddy but I graduated the 2nd grade. After pressing further he then confirmed that this room we were in was a "superior room but wasn't a superior KING room". He then told us that the room we had booked would be booked for that night and that we could go into the correct room the next night and receive 13 euros back for the price difference. The room, the bed, and the overall space was worth so much more to me than 13 euros. I would have paid an extra 30-50 euros a night to secure the room I wanted so to me this was BS. They did end up moving us to a bigger room with a bigger bed, had a nice window with better lighting, and a decent view of Galway. But man was I heated at first. PARKING - They say there is no parking on site but they also explain it as "close to the hotel" 10 minutes walking isn't too bad but when you've got two big heavy suitcase, it was extremely inconvenient and annoying. There were able to validate parking and bring it down to 9 euros a night but the location of the parking was trash. read more

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for to combine three things on a midweek break: -Easy Access via public transport from Dublin, but close to everything: It was 1-2 minute walk from the bus station, and a 5-10 minute walk to the heart of the pedestrian shopping area and "The Latin Quarter" -Good Value: 55 quid for B&B with good Brekkie, a good bed, plenty of pillows, nice clean room and good water pressure/bathtub size. AAAAhhhhh.... -A place to get some work done: for a tourist-class hotel I had plenty of space to spread out my laptop and paperwork in my room. And there was great WiFi in the "public areas", including the attached coffeeshop which had power outlets available. There were a few thing's I would improve-including putting data ports in the rooms, or extending WiFi into the rooms if the ports are too much of an upgrade. They also need a luggage room, because the little space behind the front desk is not nearly big enough to hold all the bags I saw piling up there every morning. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the maids actually honored the little sign asking to get the room made up early. Bottom Line: if you're on a budget but want a break, this is the spot! read more

Still, the owners could put more effort into having furniture that isn't chipped or large gaps in the tiling in the bathroom. Strange sounds fill the night- could be heating system or plumbing. I know it's a budget place, but it's well below typical budget. Rooms are extremely stuffy, not because of size, but because there's not any type of fan, let alone AC. Rooms and bathrooms are extremely out of date and need repair, just hoping everything was clean below the rough service. Multiple light bulbs out in our room. Random mechanical noises in the wall all night. Wash clothes unavailable. Beautiful bar and restaurant. You'll be lucky to find a server that has a clue what's going on. Major disappointment! Booked through tripadvisors for 10 days in Ireland, thank God only had to stay in this hotel 2 nights. Orders breakfast, waited 20 minutes, asked where it was and was told they didn't order it. When we finally did get it, it was cold and hard. Construction going on, had to walk over drywall plaster to get in and out of our room. They said they didn't have washcloths, so you had to use a hand towel. The room and furniture was heavily worn. Pros: Great location Fairly clean Nice bar and restaurant Friendly staff Cons: Smells like a basement My biggest con is the fact that we had two rooms booked about a month in advance. You would think that someone who ordered two rooms would want them to be right next to each other or at least on the same floor. Well sadly upon check in they informed us the second room was not ready. Additionally the room that was ready, they gave us the wrong key for, twice.Ok fine. We come back in about 2 hours and the second room is still not ready. They assure us it will be ready by tonight. We go about our day and when we get in from the bars the night man, who was very kind, said he was sorry but the second room was now taken. This is where I really lost my patience. They assured us they were getting the room together, next to the other one we booked, and that it would be ready by the time we came back. Then magically they give it away. Luckily they had another room available, sadly it was two floors above the first rooms. I would like to mention that it was graduation for Uni Galway and I understand it was busy this day but I think it shows poorly on them for giving away the room we were promised and purchased. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was due to a busy night. However they never attempted to clarify the issue or provide us with a discount of sorts. Stay away from this place. My girlfriend and I checked in for a night on a Wednesday evening. The reception staff were helpful enough with our check-in process and with answering questions about the area, but the remainder was downhill entirely. The bed was an incredibly uncomfortable concave box of springs, there was a deep hole in the drywall on two of the room's walls, and the noise was unbelievable. Drunks outside arguing at 2am, doors opening and slamming shut all night, banging and tapping coming from different directions at odd hours.... It looks decent enough from the outside and in the lobby, but this was a train wreck of an experience. We do an annual trip to Ireland from the States, and suffice it to say that we won't be stepping on this land mine twice. read more

We stayed at Eyre Square Hotel for two nights, from 5/28-/29. When we arrived two hours before check in, our room was already available for us which was great after our flight/drive. The room was small, but it was clean and had a fairly comfortable bed. Room was a little stuffy with only a small window to allow airflow. There was a fair amount of noise that was disruptive for us early into the morning due to our rooms proximity to the adjacent bars and clubs. The breakfast service was very good with a full menu of breakfast items, continental breakfast choices, as well as a barista. read more

Great find for me. Am new to Ireland. This hotel is located in the town center, right near everything, such as a nice park, fun streets, cool places (shops, bars, and restaurants). Rooms and facilities are modern and clean; rooms are large and comfortable. Place is not too big or overwhelming. Staff is friendly and completely helpful. Prices were surprisingly moderate, very reasonable. read more
