Stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon with our travel agency booking our trip. We were promised a much better hotel on our itinerary but it got changed last minute to here (quite the downgrade). The first night we were put in an extremely outdated room and when doing research online and finding pictures of much better rooms we realized some are renovated and some are not. Our room had stained, red old carpet, lamps hanging out the walls, bathroom needed some serious help and mold in the crack, and it was sooo noisy! The TV was awkwardly placed on a desk on the side of the room with the bed facing a wall with nothing on it. And no room to put the TV in front. So weird. Don't even get me started on the breakfast the following morning that was 'included'. I was confused on what I was supposed to do when I arrived, there was a continental breakfast out for self-serve but menus on the table. The servers were walking around aimlessly and I had to stop one to ask the process. After ordering, it took a while to get our food but when we did mine was so gross I couldn't take more than 1 bite. The scrambled eggs wouldn't even stay on my fork, it was like they mixed it with something liquidy. Disgusting! There were also beans that I spit out into a napkin they were so bad. How do you mess up beans? We did say something the following day to the front desk and he moved us to the only other room available, but it was only a tad bit better. At least the bathroom was better and the TV was in the right spot. I can't comment on the price since it was a package deal through a travel company.

The price tag for the hotel rooms, as other have mentioned, is definitely due to the location. It can't be beat. Breakfast is okay, with a selection of eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, breads and a coffee machine. Small variety of fruit and yogurt as well. The rooms are absolutely tiny. We booked a family room and not sure what happened...the pull out couch barely fit our two young children and left zero space in the room. The bathroom was also small and had limited space even for towels, let alone counter space. I booked through Priceline, which I will never do again because our reservation was completely messed up. They didn't have the right number of people or the included breakfast reflected in the hotels reservation system. The front desk staff couldn't have been kinder though and sorted it all out rather quickly. If you're just a solo travel or a couple the rooms would be sufficient and it would probably make for a great home base during your time in Galway.

It is poorly managed, dirty and uncomfortable. In our room the soap dispenser was empty for more than two days. They never replenished the coffee. Milk or bottled water. The only issue is getting out of there (even for the taxis) requires an awkward drive through a tight parking lot. The entire staff was professional and friendly. I think the decor is cool, lots of velvet and fun colors. Our room was clean and super spacious. Robes and slippers provided. The bed was very comfortable and allowed for a great night of sleep. There's even a mini-fridge that you can actually use and not get charged for. On check in there was a little bag of snacks and a plate of desserts with a lovely welcome note. Turn down service brought some tasty chocolates. Really nice touches. One of the highlights of the stay was the breakfast. These were undeniably our best breakfasts of our week in Ireland.

They offer valet but there is free self park with elevators that go to the car park. There is a movie theater behind the hotel and nice restaurants in walking distance. I know the decor is deliberate but it feels old and outdated. We had 2 remotes in the room, one worked for the tv in living room and who knows what the other remote was for. The tv in the bathroom didn't have a remote. The gas fireplace was turned off by orders of the county. I loved the water views and the room amenities. Cool place.

It turns out that it was under the name of the colleague who booked the room for me, and that they did not note my details although they were shared with the hotel. The room was a nice size with a queen sized bed and a twin or full sized bed. I could not figure out how to adjust the temperature on the radiator which meant I had a cold first night. The next morning, I discovered that the window had been left open. The second night was more comfortable since the window was closed. There was no comforter or blanket in the room. The breakfast was nice and the servers attentive. There was enough variety of choices of food without it being overwhelming. It is outside of central Galway which is inconvenient if you want to walk around and see the city.

Very good choice if you want to be in Galway, have a car and are doing day trips out to Connemara, The Burren etc. But also want to avoid all the city center traffic. I would defiantly stay again. The downsides, although renovated your not going to get stone counters, a high end furniture in the rooms etc. But is certainly not down market either.

Too small and too hot to be comfortable…read more Our room is too hot sleep in. We complained about how hot the room was but front desk said they only have 2 or 3 rooms with A/C (is that true??). They said to use a supplies fan, so we have the window open with a noisy fan, but it is still very hot and the fan is super noisy. Our room is also incredibly small. We barely fit in here with our luggage. It's really small!! We asked if we could upgrade to a larger room and they said "no"... our room has a "standard layout" (again I am questioning if I am being told the truth). Also, they gave us an accessible room with a bathroom that has no enclosed shower/tub and then claimed that was a standard room for the hotel (once again feeling like I'm being swindled). There is also no sink space or shelf to place toiletries of any kind. We feel very cheated for a room that was much more expensive than the nice hotels we stayed at in Dublin and Killarney. Positives: Location is great and enjoy the attached pub.

We stayed here for a couple nights during the week. We were worried about the potential noise however the live music stopped at around 11pm so we had no complaints there. Perhaps the noise is longer on weekends but we didn't see it as an issue during our weekday stay. The room was clean, and had complementary water bottles. The TV was also great and allowed us to sign in to our Netflix and YouTube for streaming on the big screen. The room was on the smaller side but enough space to at least open up our big luggage and carry on. We got discounted parking as well from the hotel, which helped as parking in the city was expensive. Did not get the chance to visit the bar in the hotel in the evenings but we heard really good live music!

Have you ever wanted to relive those tender years when you needed nothing more than an empty bunk,…read morea backpack, and a Swiss army knife to see Europe on the cheap? Yeah, me neither, but here I was staying in my first youth hostel in I won't tell you how many years. Why? Well, it was part of a two-day tour package I bought through Galway Tours, and I assume to bring the cost down, they put people up in this place since it's right next to the Galway coach station where I was supposed to pick up the bus the following morning to Connemara. I have to admit I didn't pay attention to that detail in the online description and probably thought that it wasn't a big deal to stay in a hostel for one night. Well, it wasn't all that big a deal, but I have to tell you that the sight of six bunk beds in a small room (see photo) reminded me of the Dachau concentration camp tour I took years ago. I looked into the bathroom (granted a luxury since I assume most of the rooms have shared facilities) and saw that the shower stall had no real drainage, and there was little room to put any toiletries on the sink's ledge. I actually let myself think that perhaps I would have the room to myself until I noticed a huge backpack hidden under one of the bottom bunks. Then a young couple, a New York girl with her Peruvian boyfriend, came in to take another set of beds. OK, the adventure begins, and of course, I started to feel self-conscious about my age because I was surely the oldest lodger in that hostel that night. As it turned out, everyone was cool, and nobody snored. Thank heaven for small favors. But I just felt weird being in what felt like a crowded dorm room like I was spending spring break in Fort Lauderdale with Connie Francis and George Hamilton. I wasn't feeling my vibe here, and frankly it was much worse downstairs in the common area where the more rambunctious youth were making a racket until the wee hours. It was like a United Nations General Assembly meeting crossed with a slumber party. The following morning, when I tried to have a slice of toast, a young African girl looked at me and laughed in my face like a hyena. Gee, thanks for making me feel like an outcast. But I really can't complain much since the rate for a bed here is about $25 US. By the way, the young staff at the desk are quite nice, the other guests not so much.
