Visited James Doylestown of Eye Q during his opening, in fact, I may have been his first customer. He was amazing, although he was still setting up shop, he was professional, knowledgeable and caring. I again visited him this year, about the same time of year. My with and I had a couple of issues with our glasses (not related to what we purchased from him a year earlier). Even though the problem was difficult, he took care of the problem by custom grinding and fitting a lense in my wife's glasses, in one day,as we were leaving town, incredible ! The job was perfect. We will actually send our current frames to him from Arizona, he has our prescription, and have him continue to supply our needs. There are still wonderful people and business folks in this country. I am visiting Portland and have had dry eye/redness complications ever since Lasik that warranted an emergency eye doctor visit as I just could not stand the irritability anymore. I got in next day to see Dr. Nguyen who was absolutely lovely. The staff, location, and office are lovely. She gave me a comprehensive exam, charged a fair out-of-pocket rate as I do not have insurance/eye coverage, and prescribed me medications that fixed my discomfort overnight. Went in for an eye exam and glasses. I told the front desk lady I had a big head and like round frames. While I was in the exam room she laid out a bunch of glasses that were my style and a couple adventurous ones. I had a fun time trying on frames. I'm very picky with glasses so it took me about an hour to narrow my favorites to just one. I like that they didn't hover or made me feel pressured but it was also really easy to ask questions when I needed to. read more

They are not your standard eye glass shop. I went in because I was having headaches and thought vision maybe the culprit. I used the yelp deal so my visit was only $75 dollars (normally $100 for glasses). The Dr. was amazing, very thorough and thoughtful. Because of the intermittentcy of my issues she requested I come back for additional testing (included in the first visit cost). She referred me to vision therapy and even suggested keeping my current glasses for the time being. I never once felt like they were trying to over sell me something. Instead they create a clinical low pressure environment. I would recommend them 110%. Also they offered to hold onto the frame for I like for a month. Amazing service! Dropped by EyeQ since its been a little over 3 years since my last check up. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got my eyes checked by Dr. Thuy and she was very patient and informative. She took her times examining my eyes and my prescription. I could tell she really cared and didn't want to just give me a much higher prescription if I didn't need it. I also ended up purchasing some new frames and they were very helpful in explaining the different type of lenses that I could get. I used to go to Lenscrafter in the mall but I thought I would try this shop out since I eat next door at Ate oh Ate all the time. This was by far a much different experience and I really enjoyed the service they provided. They also had a better selection of frames. Would highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

Great office on E. Burnside. The exam was extremely thorough by Dr. Lee and the store has an amazing selection of very cool frames at great prices. They worked with my insurance and there were no additional costs (unlike many other optometrists I have used in the past who seem to find additional charges). It's hard to find an optometry with great selection with frames. The location is only 8 minutes from downtown with dedicated parking and street parking. EyeQ exceeded my expectations with their frame selection and service! They had brand names such as Tom Ford, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Gucci, and Ray Bans. The technician walked me through the types of lenses that would be a great fit with my prescription. The frames and lens was affordable and they accept VSP insurance. I selected a brand name frame and it only took a week to pick up my eye glass. I will be back next year for another pair of frames! read more

My family and I love this place! My 5 year old daughter had an amazing 1st vision check-up experience with Dr. Thuy. Dr. Thuy made it fun and not scary which helped my daughter with her nervousness. Must be the same person the review below is talking about. Perhaps a son or another family member of the Doc being forced into labor? He looked uninterested and was very unhelpful. I walked in exactly what I was looking for and his response was well, let's just say it left a lot to be desired. After just picking up a couple frames for me to try on without listening to a word I said, he promptly returned to his desk behind the counter. The sad things is, another female employee walked out from the back and promptly sat right next to him without greeting or acknowledging my presence. After wearing glasses for over 25 years and dealing with MANY shops, this has to be the worst experience I've ever had. I walked in with full intent of purchasing a pair and walked out after a few minutes of being ignored. There are A LOT of options for glasses in Portland, I'd recommend that you polish your customer service skills or you won't be in business for long. read more

Great office with friendly staff and great eyewear selection! I got my eyes checked by Dr Thuy and she was very knowledgable, patient with all of my questions, and very thorough with my exam. She took the time to explain my prescription and showed how they would look in daylight since they would be stronger than in the exam room. She made sure my prescription wouldn't give me a headache in everyday wear and that I was happy with what I was getting. I'll definitely be coming back to her for my annual eye exams! I ended up picking out two pairs of eyeglasses and the staff was very helpful in giving me my insurance benefits and a breakdown of the costs. EyeQ Optometry is the best place in Portland to go for your eye exam and eye glass frames! I appreciate that they didn't try to up-sell me on fancy, expensive diagnostic procedures that cost extra.The receptionists is super friendly and nice. Before I came in for my appointment, she was able to verify my coverage and how much my copay even though I didn't have my insurance card. The process was very quick and efficient. When I arrived at my appointment, I was seen right away after I signed a few forms. The equipment and technology for my eye exam seems superb and very modern! The place looks awesome and I like the interior design. I had to go twice once for my eye appointment and the other for my contact fitting. I forgot the doctor's name but BOTH were really nice and helpful in helping me transition to another contact brand. I asked to try new ones other from the one they originally gave me since it was too strong and they accommodated me really well with another pair to try. Very efficient and helpful.
