I did a search here on Yelp and found Kate D.'s raving review, and that settled it. I called for an appointment. The extremely friendly woman who assisted me on the phone was surprised to learn that people were talking online about her shop. I read Kate's review to her and she was just tickled. I knew instantly this salon had the kind of personality I'd just love. Nikki greeted me when I walked in, and I was instantly at ease with her. We talked like old friends. I've long believed that a good hair dresser needed three skills - the artistic, the technical and the social skills to keep somebody comfortable sitting still in a chair. Nikki has all the above in enormous measure! She's just great. I showed her a picture I'd printed of what I was after with my hair. She delivered the style I asked for perfectly, and she didn't twist my arm to buy pomade, sprays or mousse. Now Leesa, if you're reading this - I'm not saying you do that either... but some hair dressers do, and I appreciated the fact that Nikki didn't. I was a little surprised that the salon does not accept credit cards. It was no problem, though, because I was right next door to the 7-Eleven where an ATM patiently awaited me. My cut was extremely reasonable in price ($44) and I didn't have to drive a long way on 78 in ungodly traffic to have 25 minutes of relaxation and a great cut. So Leesa -- I'm sorry Sweetie. It's been years since I'd been in a great clips. Back when it was 6.99. Now it's $20-23. That's just the increased cost of things now. Plus $5 tip. Reviews I thought it was for women n kids but only men were getting their hair cut. No recent photos but reviews recently seemed great. The bad: Asked if the example photos we had were possibly for my daughter's hair type. Thick. Straight. And added we don't have curling irons or any products. Is this an easy style? Was told Yes and that she could do it. Ok great so she got started. Again very nice ladies working here. After finished my daughter covered in hair I was a bit surprised how the cut looked. I asked if there's something we need to know. Advice on how to obtain the example look. She responded well her hair is just so thick. As if to say no. I asked if the starting hair cut was a problem, she said no, only one small hidden area was too short but she said it was hidden so not an issue. So I'm not sure why she cut her hair so short and boxy. She thinned it a little. But if this cut isn't possible with thick hair, a simple Not recommended would have been nice instead of yes then attempt then act like it's great and when I ask about getting it to look like the example then say oh it's just too thick. No other suggestions on how to fix it or alternative cuts, just nada. Also no clean up of the hair at all, I remember being brushed off a bit after cuts and the place we use to go always cleaned up the hair. There was sooo much hair on my daughter's shirt n face. We cleaned her off in the parking lot. I still tipped 25% because again, she was nice and can cut better than we can and it's just rough financially for everyone, so I tip. Not sure how to fix this. We stink at being assertive so my daughter just said "it's fine."
