Everything! I walked in without an appointment, expecting to make an appointment, and one of the stylists had just finished up with her client and told me she could see me immediately. My lucky day! She was wonderful. I'll definitely be going back. Jennifer told me she's been working as a stylist for 38 years. I'm thrilled with haircut and feel fortunate to have found her! read more

I've been going to Avanti Salon since we moved to Hidden Meadows/Escondido in 2001. They must be doing SOMETHING right...right?? My gal is Loanne. She works with me when I want to change my style. I am older now, and have opted to let my grays shine. BUT we have settled on a spiky hair cut and I am loving it! The place is in a somewhat run down center in Escondido near the "lower" Vons on El Norte, feels like they are trying to make it more of a NEED to Go to center, but perhaps baby steps, in my opinion. Avanti is next to Kahoots. Don't expect fancy, and don't expect super upscale. Expect a hello when you come through the door, and everything is clean and sort of small town feeling. Call and ask for Loanne (LoANN), you won't be sorry! Oh and there are also Spanish speaking hairdressers. And parking is ample. Plus it feels safe. read more

I had an appointment to get my hair layered. I really never get my hair cut because when I do and ask for layers, it always comes out really bad. Well Maria did my hair and I was so happy with the results. She was quick and did my hair exactly how I wanted! Even days after it still looks amazing I don't even wanna wash my hair! read more

I have gone here before but had issues then as well. This time it just confirmed that they do not have their act together. The problem with my first visit was that fact that they told me the wrong appointment date. I even confirmed the date and time during the call. The next visit and the last time, was this week. I called few days prior to confirm the appointment and to let them know about the hair colors I needed. The day of the appointment, I go in only to find that the salon wasn't even open...it should have been open an hour ago!?! There was No holiday or notices about their hours. I waited for 30min. and even called. read more

I've been getting my hair colored by Alma for the last 5 years since moving to California...I was just driving by and decided to walk in! It's in a great location and the salon is nicely maintained, clean, the stylists are friendly! I spoke to Alma first who has been coloring my hair ever since! I absolutely love the way she dyes and highlights my hair... I started also taking my teenager to her for coloring which I will also post pictures of! But these are some snapshots of mine! And I'm also posting a picture of my daughters hair who wanted full red highlights! read more

Very average hair salon. The place is very spacious and clean but still not worth paying $25 for a $15 haircut. Alma cut my hair and that had to be one of the most dull sessions I've had. She didn't say much nor do a fantastic job. When they ask how you like the haircut and you ask to make a small touch up, they should never get offended. And that's exactly what Alma did. When going to pay, I bring out my debit card bc I see a card reader facing me on counter. Alma says, "oh, we only accept cash". I asked her why there is a card reader right in front of me. She just looked at me and smiled. Luckily I had the right amount of cash. In sum, I DONT PLAN ON RETURNING HERE AGAIN. read more

Highly disappointing first experience, which reveals some administrative issues that resulted in me not able to receive service. I booked on July 6 for a July 12 appointment for which so received a confirmation email from the salon and a text from Alma. The morning of, I called to confirm and was told Jennifer was running an hour late. I cancelled my afternoon meeting and arrived at 12:50 for my newly-scheduled 1:00. Once there, I was not greeted for at least five minutes and there was some scurrying about as to who I was and with whom I was booked. After sitting down, I see a post-it note stating "cash only," evidently a choice by this particular independent operator. Neither my confirmation email nor the text addressed cash only. Add that my appointment was late by an hour, and still not in the books on my arrival, it seems a disorganized and untrustworthy establishment. Since I value my time, I recommend NOT choosing Avanti. read more

Rosa cut my hair and it was very crooked. I had to return to the salon 2 days later to get it fixed. When I tried to explain to Rosa and Alma that my hair was visibly crooked, they said it looked like that because of the sweater I was wearing and it was just the left side that was messed up. I explained that the whole hairline was crooked and I feel we were not seeing eye to eye. I just thought it would be more professional to take accountability for a mistake. Luckily Tammy was super sweet and fixed it for me. read more

TLDR: I got a perm by Susan and it was a fantastic experience with fantastic results. I have been talking about getting a perm for months. I finally sent out a message on Yelp, and got a lot of automated responses from salons. The owner to Avanti messaged me directly and set up a phone consultation within one week. I was in the chair in about two more weeks. Susan seemed really experienced and asked me lots of questions. I told her I did not want a trendy 2020 wave perm, I wanted a full blown spiral perm. She did a spiral piggy back with white and grey rods (if you get perms you'll know what that means.) to her credit, she was very friendly and easy to talk to. I have been in really stuffy salons where you're uncomfortable the whole time, and luckily this did not happen with Susan. I wanted to wait a couple weeks to see if my perm held up and it totally did. Her home care directions were spot on. If you're thinking about getting a perm, this is your sign. And go to Susan or any of the other lovely ladies at Avanti. read more

I love Avanti Salon and Alma that worked on my hair. I originally had really thick dark black hair. I've been going to Avanti for a year and a half. Don't waste your money on hairdressers that will fry your hair. But let Alma bring the beauty outta your luscious locks. read more

So Mary, the owner at Avanti contacted me through yelp shortly after my negative review came out. She offered up one of her stylists to color correct my hair for free. Obviously I was apprehensive but agreed I would try as soon as I had time. I let her know my boyfriend had been sick and hospitalized with a difficult road to recovery where I'm his primary caregiver. About seven weeks later and after some checking in back and forth which I took for understanding, Mary offered me the appointment but said only half the cost would be covered because of the length of time it took me to book. Keep in mind she said nothing during our multiple messages over the seven weeks time. I thanked Mary for confirming my apprehension to return to her fake establishment. I say fake because an alarming amount of reviews are not even from North County. Fishy. I should have known better. read more

Flew all the way from Nashville, TN for a week of work in California and needed a haircut desperately.... and also an assortment of waxing services (eyebrows, etc). The salon was very easy to find, clean, the staff was very friendly, accommodating and welcomed my walk-in. Go visit Loann!!! I have crazy thick hair and am extremely discerning with who touches my hair. Loann was AWESOME! She was easy to talk to, she listened to my hair goals and offered great feedback/recommendations. I showed her a Pinterest picture and she nailed it!!! I would definitely recommend visiting the salon and booking Loann! I got a cut and color here. The lady who did my hair was nice and took me last minute but I wasn't happy at all with how my hair came out. I said I wanted really natural looking balayage/highlights and I ended up getting really stripy highlights and a lot of hair damage. I don't think they really understand modern hair techniques because I felt the highlights aged me and made me look older because the style was just out of date. My hair has not been the same since I went here, it is so frizzy and fried now. They told me they use olaplex in the highlights but I don't think they did because my hair was so damaged after. They did work with me and tried to fix the highlights to be more what I liked and it ended up looking okay when I walked out but overall I don't plan on returning. read more

I've been debating on posting this but figured I should to maybe help someone looking for a salon. I called for an appointment and spoke with Irma, it was originally scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 however she called Friday night to say she had an opening at 10:30 instead. Yay! So I start heading there for my appointment and Irma texted and said she was running behind and if I could come at 11, ok no problem. I get there at 11 and she's finishing up with another client. It's my turn, I sit down in her chair and show her what I was wanting, she states it would take at least 2 bleach sessions to get my hair to the desired look but she only recommends doing one bleach session, ok she's the professional and I'm going to listen to her. She states that my hair is so thick and starts thinning it out with shears which I did NOT ask her to do! So She starts doing the bleach and putting my hair in foils and then sits me under the dryer. She takes two other people while I'm under the dryer. She then comes to get me and take me to the rinsing area and rinses my hair and puts what I think is toner in my hair. When we are done I go back to her chair and she starts blow drying it. She finishes my hair and says she needs to add a darker toner... I don't have my glasses on due to them being in the way and tbh I'm completely blind without them, so I grab my glasses to see what she is referring to... ya'll my hair was copper with grey tips! I was so embarrassed! So I tell yes I want the darker toner and she tells me I would need to come back the next day because she's booked for the rest of the day!! I reluctantly agree. By this time it's 3pm and I have some other errands that I now I have to cancel because I'm to embarrassed by my hair! She calls me shortly after I leave and tell me she can fit me in at 4:30, great I'll take it! I go back at 4:30 and as I'm walking in so is another lady and Irma takes the other lady and starts dying her hair so I sit down and wait. My turn again, I sit down and she starts sectioning and putting the toner in my hair. Once she's done I have to sit back under the dryer. After about 30-45 minutes she takes me back to rinse. Once done she blow dries my hair and offers to curl it like it is in the picture, I agree. Once she's done curling my hair I put my glasses on again and am so disappointed. I pay her because even though I am completely unhappy with my hair it was at least her time that needed to be paid for. My hair is now dryer than straw, not the color or style I wanted or that anyone would want. I'm to scared to have my hair corrected because of fear that it all may fall out! read more

Excellent Hair Salon. Comfortable, clean and a convenient location. Friendly staff and cheerful environment, I feel relaxed and welcomed. Hair stylist Loanne is an expert and consistently does an fantastic job of coloring, highlighting and haircutting my hair. It's comforting to know I can schedule regularly (about every 7 weeks) and get the same excellent results every time. Although Loanne is my stylist I feel confident that the other stylists would also do an excellent job too from what I have seen. I have observed the clientele to be a mix of young and mature, male and female. There is a happy vibe, pleasant conversations all around, which is an indication that there is good Ownership management. I recommend Avanti Salon because I want consistent excellent hair styling and maintenance and that's what I get here at Avanti Salon (Loanne- Stylist). read more

I've been coming to this Salon for years. They moved and I followed my girl Maggie Flores! She is amazing, the color master, she will never disappoint. How she's able to put multiple colors in my hair and never have them bleed into each other I don't know. The girl has a magical touch! I will follow her to wherever she goes. This salon is amazing! It's a great locations to my house, but also is in a great shopping center! I highly recommend seeing Stephanie! I neglected getting my hair done for almost 2.5 years and I had roots like crazy, not to mention no trims for almost a year! She had a lot of work to do! And by golly she did it! She's absolutely amazing. She took all my split ends, roots, and frizz and turned it into a beautiful platinum blonde, purple peekaboo highlights, and a violet-red! I am absolutely amazed she transformed my hair! She was great at talking too! We talked about my future plans for school, and she legitimately cared about everything we talked about. Not only did this woman make me feel like a goddess with my luscious locks, but she was absolutely pleasant! What's better in a hair stylist? BOOK WITH HER ASAP! she's amazing! read more

Had my hair done here for the first time and both the owner and my stylist was amazing! Mary, the owner personally greeted me and offered me chocolate. ;) My stylist, Emily was very professional and welcoming. She offered me refreshments and even sat next to me when I was waiting for my hair treatment and color to get done. My hair is so long and thick and she suggested I get treatment done in lieu of my coloring and it turned out great! My hair is nice and smooth and even went back to my natural hair color. I have thick, long Asian hair so when I saw her brush my hair with a comb with little to no hesitation, it was sooooo awesome to see that I can finally brush my hair normally without any problems. I highly recommend this place. They're all very friendly and professional. They take care of you and it's worth the spending. Thanks Emily for a wonderful job! read more

WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE!!! *ALMA REYES Went into Avanti Salon yesterday for my 5 o clock appointment. It was my first time coming to Avanti Salon. First time meeting alma. First impression should have been enough for me to walk right out. Alma was sitting at her booth feet up texting, I initially thought she was a clients guest. Front desk lady informed her that her appointment was as here. Attempted to walk over got to the front of the salon stood behind a display rack of shampoo and asked me "are you ready". Her physical appearance was sloppy her pinkish satin shirt had a big stain from her chest to the bottom of her stomach. Didn't introduce herself, then directed me to where she was going to wash my hair. She tightened the cover around my neck. Being that it was to tight I put my figure between the cover and my neck so show that I was uncomfortable. Didnt even phase her to make me more comfortable.I had already had a stressful day, booked this appointment to pamper myself. I decided to stay optimistic. But, as she begins to "wash" my hair shes scratching the shampoo into my scalp. We then go to her booth. Where to booth is dirty the floor is covered in someone else hair. She asks me one question then parts my hair in two and starts chopping off my hair. I stop her to clarify the things that I was looking for. A short cut to my chin no Bob haircut slick and even. She finishes cutting my hair. I can already tell that its uneven but let her continue in hope's she would also see it. Best part: as shes drying my hair it is literally WHIPPING me in the face. At this point I was literally laughing at how ridiculous this whole expreiance was. She sees me making unpleasant faces then laughing, says nothing but continues to smack her gum loudly in my ear. It's done drying, she done finishing up. And the cut it still uneven, I inform her that it wasnt even. She remarks that my hair is the problem. Right..... I let her know that is uneven she informs by saying "no its even" then cuts the side that it is cleary uneven. Cuts it so much that it's now shorter than the other side. She says all done i stand up she hands me the mirror to see. I look at her with an obvious smurk laugh look at the cut oooh surprisingly its still uneven. I didnt even bother to have her attempt to fix it, because CLEARY ALMA HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHES DOING and should get a new profession. I am more than willing to pay for a good haircut and usually spend $80 on a hair cut alone. I will never be back, she can keep the $35 she charged. I know she needs it since I overheard her complaining to a fellow coworker that she has no appointments. .! I'm sure there are some good stylists here, but ALMA REYES ruined my experience. As she so proudly hands me her business card. read more
