Dr. Sarah Taylor of Eyeglass World is the best optometrist! I took an elderly disabled family member to her recently for an eye exam. This family member hasn't been able to see properly for years. She recommended cataract surgery. The eye doctor we had been seeing for years never mentioned that my family member needed cataract surgery. We went to the cataract surgeon for the surgery, and my loved one now has nearly 20/20 vision for the first time in decades. The staff at Eyeglass World was very accommodating and friendly. Also, when I had to return a few times for adjustments to my loved one's reading glasses after the surgery, the staff made the adjustments quickly. One of the adjustments was made at no charge. I was amazed by the excellent customer service I received from everyone I encountered from my initial call to the time I left from the store. When I first called to see if they could get me in "same day" the receptionist was eager to help and even kindly went through my insurance so that I would know what would be covered as far as my exam, glasses and lenses. Upon walking into the store I was warmly greeted by staff and had a pleasant experience with the optometrist. From there the customer service lady kindly walked me through the types of frames and patiently helped me choose the best one for me. I needed my glasses made rather quickly and the service team was willing to expedite them for me. I even overheard the manager dealing with a disgruntled customer on the phone - he remained calm and respectful throughout the entire call. Very rarely do you come across this kind of service so I will always support this store and refer others to go here as well. read more

I recently got a new prescription & new glasses at Henry Ford Optimeyes, but I decided that I wanted to have some choices in frames that I wear, since the ones I got are purple & don't go with everything. I'd stopped into Eyeglass World a while ago to fix another pair of glasses and they were very nice -- and didn't charge -- so I figured I should go back. I actually did find frames that I like in the 2 for $78 section. Of course, once you add the progressive lenses & anti-reflective coating, the price increases dramatically. Still, the people were very friendly and welcoming. Nikki was the one who helped me initially when I picked the frames out. She was funny, nice and patient -- and probably a bit overwhelmed that I was ordering 3 pairs of glasses. (I brought in a pair I already own for new lenses.) When I picked up my glasses today, Tasha helped me. She remembered me from last week. She, too, was very friendly, funny and helpful. These people are wonderful, and not the least bit stuffy or intimidating, nor do they try to upsell like some other places do. I'm sure I will be back when I need a new prescription. read more

First of all, let me comment on the selection of eyeglasses. They had some of the cutest frames I've ever seen. However, more importantly were the people that work there. We visited this location right before Christmas and had an amazing experience. Got my husband two new pairs of glasses for the awesome deal they were offering at the time (2 pairs for $78). They originally informed us our glasses would not be ready until after Christmas but because my husband was having such bad headaches they move some things around and got his glasses done same day. I have been here a few times and absolutely love it. Before this pair of glasses inhad others and my toddler gave them to my dog and they replaced them no question asked. I needed a new pair so i made a appointment for me and my fiance. They were absolutely amazing. All the staff was friendly and even played with my toddler and help me find the perfect glasses. Nothing short of a phenomenal experience! Being from out of state, losing my glasses the way I did was a little upsetting. I broke them at work and I didn't have another pair. The next day was Sunday, no help available. So after spending time on Sunday looking for a same day I eyewear place, I chose Eyeglass World. And I am most certainly glad that I did! Very rude and unprofessional at the West Bloomfield site. It felt as though the sales lady thought she was doing me a favor. When she told me she was done with me instead of thank me for my service when I gave her my information for an appointment, I was outraged! She continued to make snarky comments in front of my daughter to me to the point where I canceled our appointment with the optometrist. Before I left I told her how rude she was and to try to be kinder to future customers, but I won't do business there. Needless to say I drove on down to another eyeglass store, got her exam that day and spent over $500 on glasses and an exam for my daughter. Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal customer to OptimEyes for my entire life and have always been thoroughly satisfied with their service. However, my experience at EyeGlass World on Orchard Lake Rd. was a remarkable one that greatly exceeded my expectations. Let's face it. When it comes to handling medical exams and such, we essentially want two things 1.) To be in and out. 2.) To not spend a lot of money. Eyeglass world has these two qualities in spades and adds a third; EXCELLENT customer service. I recently got my exam at a competitor with a quote for a pair of glasses. On my way home I passed this eyeglass world so I figured I'd see what it was all about. The store was clean and well stocked. The manager, Russell helped me. Walked me through the many frames to choose from, asking questions about how I use my glasses, suggesting styles and sizes that are compatible with my life! Once i had my options chosen I met Russell with my tray at the desk and he went over all the different options available to me with my bifocals ensuring I got exactly what I not only wanted but what I needed too! I got my progressives and sunglasses the next day! Even better, this location stocked my contact lenses and even matched what I pay at Costco so I walked out with those that day!! They were a little busy when I got there but was greeted immediately and once they were helping me I felt like the only customer they had. Very personable service and felt like they truly care about me and my sight. Best part: a pair of progressives, a pair of sunglasses AND 6 months of contacts for almost the same as 1 pair at the other guys. read more

The young lady who waited on me, Rachel, was extremely helpful and very patient. I was not exactly sure how I wanted to have the glasses configured given some sight limitations, but she patiently and thoroughly explained each possible configuration based on my optical requirements, while keeping in mind my price point. I just came in for an eye irritation. I have had this issue before and no longer go to the eye dr I use to with their big fancy office etc. I meet with Dr. Coral Hunt who is by far the nicest, sweetest, person I have meet in the field. She took her time explaining my issues, my treatment and follow up. I understand that she is not here all the time and strongly encourage people to make appointments when she is in, and to tell the management to do whatever it is they need to keep her in that store as often as you can. DO NOT GO HERE THE DOCTOR MADE SEXUAL ADVANCES TOWARD ME THE ENTIRE VISIT. The older doctor that works here sexually harassed me during our appointment. I do not have his name because he did not introduce himself to me. He put his hand on my knee REPETITIVELY and insisted on putting my contacts in my eyes for me. He put the contacts in my eye with his bare hands... and removed them for me.... I have been wearing contacts for 10 years and was more than capable of doing it myself but he insisted.... I am appalled and would steer anyone away from this establishment because of this assailant. My new place to buy eyeglasses HANDS DOWN! I was previously purchasing my glasses from LensCrafters but trust me I will NEVER be making that mistake again. The staff at my LensCrafters location were dreadful! I love love love the people who helped me today at the west bloomfield location. I was up front with the staff that I needed to get my pupillary distance as part of my prescription. I fully intended to order a pair of glasses through them, but I also needed to order some specialty products that they do not carry. I was told it would not be a problem. I mentioned it again at my eye exam, only to be given an evasive answer about it. After the exam, the person assisting me was steering me to buy a pair of glasses, which I intended to do but also wanted to get my pupillary distance. She told me that we weren't at that part of the process yet, and finally hinted that it might be an issue. Finally, when I insisted, a manager told me that they don't give that information out, as though my own physiological measurements are some sort of secret from me. It's rude, insulting and completely disrespectful to my time when I was completely up-front with them. I walked out without buying glasses at that point.
