AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL…read more I'm not a fan of Carle. They primarily serve state employees and this seems to define how Carle interacts with all their customers - state employees or not. If you want to deal with flippant, incompetent clerical workers, Call Carle Eye Department. After wasting my time with Carle, I called OSF and easily got an appointment with a Doctor Kreska, who I will see much more quickly than the random Doctor I would have seen at Carle. I won't be cancelling my appointment with Carle after spending an inordinate amount of time setting it up. They can just eat my no show. Screw them. Oh, and they pulled the same crap with me that another reviewer mentioned. They tried to get me to come in for a vision exam before having an appointment with an opthamologist. Other Carle departments have similar scams. For instance, they frequently try to "upsell" people who visit them for DOT and FAA physicals. I stopped sending employees there after they adopted the practice of trying to force patients into unnecessary sleep apnea tests. The same employees had no difficulty passing their physicals at more reputable medical facilities. Please support Carle competitors, so that Carle cannot continue to continue to misuse their market power

So in surgery for cat removal and the head Optometrist was doing the surgery and he yelled at me to stop it. when my legs started con·vulsing !!! Like I could stop it, if he had read the record he would of known I had to be put out completely So we are waiting for them to put me under as they should of done in the first place. Then on top of all of that now I have to go to some one else to try and SAVE my eye site!!!! As my pupils as two different sizes, I am now getting head aches behind my eyes, both eyes are so DRY i am miserable. (when I told him about all of this he to ld me to go get some visine!! And come back in a month !!!!) He never even bothered to look at my eyes!!! And the staff they are the worst!! They talk bad about patients, right in the lobby, publicly saying rude and hurtful things to and about people. And some one might want to tell them COVID is over NO more masks, but you go there and that is the first thing they hand you even before they speak to you!!

I was looking for a new eye doctor and called for an appointment. It was an emergency situation…read more When I chose '1' to make the appointment, I heard a beep and the call ended. Tried again and the same thing. Then I got a text saying they couldn't answer the phone and to let them know via text what I needed. I sent a detailed message and asked if they could help. No response. Not even a 'sorry, we can't help' or 'our first available appointment is in two weeks,' or, 'We're not accepting new patients.' Worst way to treat prospective customers, starting with not even answering the phone.

I was a long time patient of this place and everything was fine until it wasn't. Last time I was…read morein for glasses, they changed their house brand and I could no longer get the glasses I wanted. Not a deal breaker at the time. But now they require a "mandatory" extra $45 retinal scan (not covered by insurance and not told until AFTER you book an appointment), and that was a deal breaker. Don't force me into a service that I've not had before, have no information on and go "well, our doctors require it and it's another $45 out of pocket." I have decided to go somewhere else for eye exams that don't force un-covered procedures on you. Editing to add after the reply from the eye place: This procedure was NOT recommended. It was REQUIRED and it was conveyed you have no choice if you want it done or not. If you say no, no check up. If you say yes, then you have to pay the $45 since it's not covered by insurance. Again, this is not a recommendation of a procedure if it is required and that requirement is only told after you book an appointment. And then you have to pay more for this procedure that is forced on you.

So, I did. Except, contrary to appearances, that doesn't actually schedule an appointment. Somebody from the office called a few days later to say they didn't actually have an available appointment. If the "Schedule and Appointment" site is not actually for that purpose, then be explicit about that. I got an exam elsewhere and then gave Kessler Optical a second chance because they supposedly carry a line of frames in which I was interested. I walked into the business during their stated hours of operation, only to be told they don't accept walk-ins. If that's their policy, then they should state that on their website. I should add that the woman at the front desk was unapologetic about any of this and unnecessarily difficult. If a business repeatedly fails to communicate clearly and inconveniences a customer as a result, then the business should acknowledge that and, ideally, try to make amends. Kessler Optical did none of that. I had limited time and needed to place an order for new glasses quickly before traveling for the holidays. Kessler Optical was a waste of precious time.

Dr…read more Kessler and his wife run the place with wonderful staff members, from reception--to the medical assistant before your exam--to fittings, and it's as friendly of an atmosphere as you can have when you're dealing with a medical appointment and subsequent fittings for eyewear. They have a beautiful selection of eyewear from different designers. The staff will spend as much time as it takes to get the right fit and the right look and tell you how to properly care for your glasses. You can walk in to get your frames adjusted or get your glasses cleaner refilled for free anytime. They really care about their patients and it shows in all of their interactions. The eye exam is comprehensive and Dr. Kessler is knowledgeable and kind. He takes his time and your exam is not rushed. I will continue to give them my business.
